Well wouldn't you k ow it, he was in fact very lucky. With him grappled now, he'll be taking -5 on his checks to escape.
By the way, why did you roll dodge against Briar's attack?

Am I dead? Am I alive? The answer may surprise you!

Honestly, it was just force of habit on my part. I like giving EVERYTHING a fair shot, so i always thought the MnM 'auto hit' rule was kinda unfair. In RL, i always roll a dodge for attacks so i just did it here as habit.Doctor Malsyn wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 8:02 pm Well wouldn't you k ow it, he was in fact very lucky. So is the awareness vs persuasion the same sort of fair shot idea?
Re: PALLADIUM STUDIOS 3e: The ELITE(OOC THREAD)
Yup. This would also apply to your guy's rolls as well. So if i had an NPC Villian try to use mind control on you, you'd be allowed to roll vs. The Villian roll. I personally never thought it was fair to either side of the screen, especially if you based your setting on something like "Real World-with-Heroes&Villians". I'd much rather have it as an option than a static rule.

Awareness or Insight vs. persuasion is standard, I thought, as would be a will save vs. mind control.
An additional Dodge check vs. attacks is not standard, it's a special combat action [often not used] to actively defend like that against incoming attacks (with +10 for rolls under 11).
I'm cool with the house rule, of course. It can make things more variable and dramatic.

I've always played persuasion as a roll against a table to change attitudes. I am cool with any interpretation though. The will save vs mind control is in the book, so I get that as standard.

Does Cole respond to Briar's words and offer of materials to secure the villain?

He is unable to do so verbally, but if I manage to keep the guy grappled next round he'll go for it.

So do you mean instead of having to do better than an opponent's (Dodge/Parry + 10) an attacker has to roll better than (Dodge/Parry + 1d20)? Interesting...

It wasn't 'autohit' as much as it was a static DC to reach. Adding in a defense roll just makes it much more variable. Not even use of a luck/hero point it a 'surer thing' anymore.

What Flynnarrel said right here. It's just in a "Real World"-type setting, NOTHING is a sure thing. There's an old Military story 'bout a Sniper that Never missed a shot for almost his entire service career. The ONLY shot he missed was a Rifle shot from near point-blank range. His target? The Brown Bear that killed him.Flynnarrel wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 6:43 pm It wasn't 'autohit' as much as it was a static DC to reach. Adding in a defense roll just makes it much more variable. Not quite sure that's how suffocation goes by the books, but I'll take it?
Still, even just being pinned is a good result. Should I make a strength check to bend some metal and have his hands and feat bound?

Is there any wounded still around Andy or in his immediate area?
