The mousy brunette hugged her browned fluffy sweatered arms around herself, ducking her head into the high collar. She peeked around between the sweater and her bangs, really not sure what she would find here. Would it be a place of tasteful homage to an artform or a place that stank of unwashed bodies and undirected testosterone?

This might be the place, maybe. For some reason she suspected that the child like man might be someone famous. Maybe a real world super? And.. well.. if that failed, maybe she could find something here to trade to Fanboy, one of her contacts on the other side. She had heard that nerd stuff was expensive. Maybe she could find something and afford to eat for the rest of the week. Yeah, that would be nice.

Eddie Routenbacker had lived in Bay City his entire 32 years of life and was officially Bored out of his mind...
He'd started as a typical "street kid" of the city, joining a local group of troublemakers and getting into trouble(Despite what his aunt tried to do),finally "growing out of it" and getting a job,you know the usual junk.

Unfortunately,Eddie was never really "Normal".He could see actual Ghost's & Spirits, heck even communicate with them like they were really there. So he didn't find it strange at all when he saw the Mousey looking Brunette with the Rather Large Spiritual outline come into his store.Keeping his Green&Blue eyes on her(he suffered from a magical version of Heterochromia, which is why he could see her Spiritual outline),he continued to read his book "So you want to woo women without really trying very hard, here's How!" as he saw her look around with uncertainty...

Sebastian Blackwood

Sebastian was never much of an investigative type. Sure, he was well versed in the arts of research, and it had served him well while being a layabout in his schooling days. But research had never really called to him until he had begun his studies in sorcery. Magic was understandable to Sebastian, and research into the arcane was something he took to like a fish took to water.

Investigation, Sebastian mused, was a very different kind of research. It didn't come easily to him.

So far, research had turned up one promising lead. Nenia - a mortal psychopomp who not only had the right kind of innate magics Sebastian could use to configure the spells, but was also young and relatively inexperienced. The jaded inhumanity of most other psychopomps would have required payments Sebastian wasn't sure he and the others could pay, but one who has not "been on the job" so long would likely leap for the chance to do some good.

Well, so long as Sebastian could find this Nenia and convince them.

But now that left confirming that this Nenia was real, right for the job, and how to locate her. That would take someone with connections Sebastian didn't have. That meant talking with other sorcerers who were that well connected and/or informed.

Briefly, Sebastian wondered which of the sorcerer-bars he'd go to first. There were more than one would expect, but Sebastian needed someone he could trust, and the establishment had to be Accorded Neutral Territory on the off chance he ran into an old (or current) enemy.

Narrowing it down, choosing The Raven was easy. Besides, Rose and he had... history.

It'd be good to see her again.

Sebastian had a Servitor drive him in the Phantom as he fiddled with his outfit. Clubbing had always been fun in the past, but Sebastian's couldn't just show up dressed to the nines in his coal grey suit with red shirt and pocket-square. No, he had to alter his attire appropriately. Dressing it down to something a little more casual, and a little more likely to survive a Hyperborean who had had a little too much to drink, was the name of the game. That, and not wearing a tie. Rose had always complained that while it was quite thrilling having to yank it off to get at his neck, having none and the top few buttons undone was more roguishly tantalizing.

Sebastian never argued with the results.

The Phantom eventually came to a stop somewhere around the corner, and the sorcerer could both hear and feel the nearby energy in the air. The Servitor stepped out and came around to open the door for him. Stepping out, Sebastian breathed in deep, a slight smile on his face. It would be good to see Rose again.

The Servitor bowed as Sebastian walked away, getting back into the Phantom and driving it straight into the shadow cast on a wall down the street. He'd call the car again when he was ready to leave.

Easily walking past the line of youngsters and other civilians, Sebastian made his way straight to the doors of The Raven, ignoring the muttered comments and frowns of those waiting in the line. Many of them were civilians, and there were no small number of those with some small amount of supernatural in their bloods - an elvish ancestor, or a quater-troll and what-not.

The bouncers appeared human at first glance, wearing rather stereotypical attire for their profession. They had darker skin that hinted at North-African or Middle Eastern heritage, but Sebastian recognized it as "dog". The two were clearly under glamours and other transformative magics, but Sebastian had no doubt that the bouncers were capable of shifting back to their hybrid dog-man forms and drawing out the enchanted knuckle-dusters from their pockets in a flash.

They had turned their attentions to him as he approached, clearly bypassing the line. The slight flaring of the nostrils told Sebastian they had registered him as a sorcerer, and were waiting for him to declare himself.

Sebastian just held out his arm and pulled the sleeve back. The arcane mark shifted and moved as if there were a real raven trapped in the painting of magic on his arm. The dog-bouncers looked at it. The raven seemed to turn to them and settle it's wings as the bird nodded at them. One of the bouncers nodded and waved Sebastian through as they settled back into position, business as usual.

Sebastian grinned and strode through to the entrance of The Raven. He hoped Rose wasn't busy - she would have the answers he was looking for, and he wanted to catch up with her besides.
Didn't quite finish it last night, but managed to wrap it up today.

Sebastian

The two Ushabti at the front door of the Raven let him pass with barely a second glance once the legitimacy of his Premier club membership was established. There was some grumbling from the line especially from a pug faced kid with a red newsboy cap that hid his eyes but it was summarily ignored.

The Music hit him in the face as palpable as the wind off the bay which the club was near. The driving techno beats mixed with rhythmic dance music pulsed across the clubs interior driving people onto the floor and into twisting writhing motion. Sebastian was forced to steel himself from the sight of several of the dancers whose beauty was entirely unnatural--Sidhe if he wasn't entirely mistaken-- and at least one Angel. Among the tableau before him were a wide assortment of the supernatural worlds denizens, from the highest to the lowest and many in between. there in a booth a Vampire of the Camarilla set with a small group of thralls indulging his tastes, there a Succubus whispering promises and deals the metaphorical hooks appearing in her target as the deal was brokered. In a corner booth a woman whose sheer power and physical presence practically screamed Dragon to his arcane senses. Fae of many sizes and hues flitted about in and around the dance floor like living dreams of light and color. A pair of Sidhe sensuously beckoned him to join them on the dance floor, their beauty as timeless as the snow on a mountain top and as cold and deadly as their winter court heritage.

Another force of will to pull himself away from the temptation and continue deeper into the multi floored club which was entirely too large on the inside for the much smaller building in which the club resided. Another enormous Ushabti stood at the base of a stairway the Construct cleverly hidden beneath a veil like its friends at the front doors. the construct eyes him up and down its nostrils flaring as it caught his scent and it subtly shifted position to face him. Sebastian knew from experience that the construct could react with shocking speed and violence to any threat and was highly lethal when it did. Stll no violence tonight another show of the raven tattoo where the inked bird flared its wings caused the Ushabti to step to the side and allow him to pass up the stairs to the reserved area of the club.

The Upper floors were where special business was conducted, private audiences held, and ancient and powerful beings could speak freely without fear of their privacy being violated. The price of admission had been heavy but Sebastian had paid it, and it had been well worth it. He noticed several beings pass him by some of them looking at him briefly some nodding in respect, most barely acknowledging his presense as such. he followed a long hallway down into a central area where a large aquariaum filled a massive chunk of the central area of the room. Within the miniature ocean swam many fish of exotic orgin and other creatures that by rights should be in the deepest oceans, he saw several mermaids and a few selkies swim joyfully through the enormous tank and a couple of creatures that were merely shadows deeper in the background.

Around the enormous center attraction was a bar that surrouned the tank and was attended by Servtitor constructs and a selection of assorted beings. He saw one of them who was filling a drink of some bubbling purple concotion for a hooded and cloaked figure who reached out and took the drink with a skeletal hand leaving a glowing bit of essence on the bartop.

The Angel Zekial a word bound angel of Marc the Archangel of trade stood a shade under six feet and looked like someones idea of a tavern keeper from older times, a clean white shirt, and an apron that never seemed to stain despite spilled drinks and food. A tight spread of light brown curls topped his head and sea blue eyes looked out of a face best described as pleasant and understanding. Zeke looked up and saw him the Mercurians face lighting up with a near blinding smile of warmth and welcome as he gestured with his head for Sebastian to join him.

"Ahh the Man of the Shadows returns to the nest." he said his tones friendly and open as he placed a drink one Sebastian knew well before him, the on the house "What brings you buy old friend?"

Uplift and Dusk

The trail of information Uplift had followed had become a dead end on several fronts mainly due to the limited access he had to the Usurpers tech, and to be frank a healthy respect and fear for the armored madmans technical genius. traps upon traps upon security measures upon lethal measures of many sorts awaited the unwary or incautious and Uplift was neither of these things.

However he had caught a small break. A gap in the network he could exploit at an active terminal if he could get there. Still hed need some tech, specifically some Usurper tech to complete the project.

thats why he was now with Dusk on Sanctuary. the Soldier moved forward her shield and sword at the ready as they advanced down the corridors. He understood Pookas reluctance to let him down here, most of these tunnels had been sealed with good reason since even though the island had been abandonded by the Usurper he was notorious for leaving all sorts of nasty suprises behind.

The pair advanced cautously looking for the A secondary computer hub where Uplift hoped to find a processor chip from the computers memory one which could grant him the access he needed into the active network if they could find one of the Usurpers abandonded bases near Bay City.

induldge yourselves in a bit of a search and feel free to cleave or blast a usurper secruity drone or 2

if either of you hits a 25 DC Investigation check the fun kicks in to igh gear.

Colonel Dusk
Luck: 5/5
Hero Points: 2
Condition: Normal

Dusk advances down the hall in front of Uplift, shield up and sword in her other hand ready to swing at a moment's notice. This... sanctuary they called it, she had to admit she was curious. "Uplift wh-hold on," Dusk interrupts herself as they approach a corner, she presses herself against the wall as though taking cover, peeks around and sees a drone approaching the corner.

Dusk leans back behind cover, counts down mentally, and then swings her blade in a mighty vertical chop as the drone appears around the corner, cleaving the machine almost perfectly in half! "Anyways, as I was asking, what do you know about this place?" Dusk asks with little to no acknowledgement of the destroyed drone.

Uplift
HP 2

Harness - set to Awareness +5

Tracking down possible weaknesses and entry points into Usurper tech was not easy; there were people who spent their careers deciphering Usurper tech and he had weeks, though he had occasionally worked for the Meglomaniac. It had paid the bills back in the day. So he cheated and used their research, though that did throw up a few times when people had been very badly wrong

Here he and Dusk were willing interacting with usurper tech; at least they didn't have to face Usurper themselves. That he might have balked at.

He looked up from his calculations to see Dusk dispatch the drone and gave a thumbs up.

"Been on Sanctuary a couple of times; gave a speech here a couple of months ago. Right now, I'd be happy if we managed to avoid Oaf's guardian. I really don't want to face that level of rebuke. As for Sanctuary, it was Usurper's main base. Most people haven't been down here because they haven't cleared out the traps, backup protocols and the like. Luckily, the drones stay where they are programmed to be, so unless you are idiots like us, you can avoid the trouble."

He held up his scanner and moved it around, finding the strongest signal.

"This way," he pointed down one of the corridors, "into the belly of the beast."

Dusk and Uplift

The trek through the corridors of the old Usurper base are like maneuvering through a haunted house mixed with an Indiana Jones movie. traps abound but Uplift is quickly able to discern them and avoid the majority. Dusk either avoids them through pure skill and instinct or outright batters her way through sword and shield flashing as she does.

Soon the pair make their way to what theyve been seeking. A Computer hub. The hub long shutdown and disconnected from the Usurpers network comes alive with a simple application of power from Uplift. He then begins to work on retrieving what they need, the remaining source code he needs to work on the cypher for the base they need to hit in Bay City.

Dusk meanhwile assumes an overwatch position guarding his back. Her vigilance is rewarded as she takes out two more drones with ease. She maintians her vigil though not letting over confidence rule her and is met by a metalic snarl like some massive chainsaw. An enorumous panther shaped robot steps into the room its cyclopian red lense focuses on the pair of them and it lets loose with another roar a mouth full of steel fangs in alternating rows of flesh shredding nastiness gleams in the rooms brief light. Each paw extends a wicked set of scapel sharp claws that leave gouges in the floor as the robo panther prepares to pouce at them.
uplifts Invesitgation is olid enough to get them through the traps and to the core room

now the hard part.

Uplift will need two sucessful tech rolls or expertise computer rolls at DC 35 for the advanced tech involved. Uplift can try as many times as needed but each failure activates a new security measure which means more things for Dusk to fight

Dusk has initaitve on the Panther and is in combat

Uplift cna engage in combat at any time but for now is not engaged and free to work on the computer.

Have at the Shredder cat :)

Nenia

The aura of the place was mostly mellow though it had a touch of the imageria to it as the stories represented by the comics, games and various action figures inspired their own stories to them.

It also was haunted she could see by the ghost of a child with a costume on, and a fireman from 1906 if she wasn't completely out of her mind. the young man behind the counter smiled at her shyly looked right at the ghost of the small child shrugged easily and went back to the book he was reading.

As she looked around she noticed a small rack of old nickel comics. An issue of Captain Carrot and the Zoo crew would work great for Fanboi he liked the vintage stuff, and the quirky stuff.

As she stood there contemplating it she felt a tug at her leg and saw the child wearing his costume looking up at her. the Ghosts expression one of delight as she looked down at him.

She saw his mouth move and felt the words as much as she heard them.

"I like comics, do you?"

Hooligan and Portia

Daniels first day at work mostly consisted of meeting with a lawyer to iron out final details of his hiring. It was then that Portia appeared to escort him to the office of the CEO of Phalanx, Roger Abernathy the Third.. Inside he found the office comfortable and well appointed and looking out the window of the tenth floor corner office was the man himself.

"Mr Harper welcome." he spoke cleanly with a hint of a British accent."Come in please, have a seat." he indicated a comfortable looking chair in front of the desk. Daniel noticed the desk was wide but narrow creating a feeling that the Boss was important but not so removed that he was unapproachable. "Something to drink?" he indicated the coffeee machine with a fresh pot of the black liquid steeping in it as Portia took her place at Abernathies right hand where she paid attention to the two as they talked.

Daniel had seen enough Bodyguards to know one when he saw one. Portia was clearly no mere assistant she was a warrior and Abernathy trusted her completely to let her be at his side so casually. If she was as good as he thought she was he could see why he was so comfortable and relaxed with her nearby.

"So how was the flight? get settled in ok?" Roger asked easilly.

Okay so smashing through obstacles and traps with your weapons isn't the most elegant way to go about things, but it's worked for her before. The Mag'Nar aren't feared by many space-faring worlds for nothing after all.

"What's the ET?" Dusk asks, almost bored, as she crushes what's left of a guard-robot's metal arm under her boot. This whole base and these pathetic little drones were the best it could muster? Surely this couldn't be it. Otherwise why was this Usurper so feared?

Unless...

"Not the bit we are in. This section is generally sealed off, but circumventing the security wasn't hard. Still, I'm not one for handling that sort of social conflict. There is a reason I like machines." He slowly swung his tablet, checking for signal.

He plugged in his adapter, swiftly overcoming the initial defenses before finding the source code.

"Keep them off me just a little while longer." he said, concentrating far too much on the computer, to notice the fighting behind him.

Did it ten times to make sure. Managed it after 4 attempts, so 2 extra threats for Dusk. First roll succeeds, then two turns of new threats, then second success.

"you know, there's an old Irish proverb that goes A Drink precedes a story,so i'll thank you fer the coffee and git straight to the story."
After taking the cup &Getting a solid drink of it,the large irishman continues speaking
