The seven of you walk through the halls with massive columns in silence. Not that anyone feels much like speaking right now. Teleportation is always a little nauseating. Looks pass between all of you as you take in your surroundings. This isn't the Lighthouse or any other satellite base. The gravity doesn't have that strange fluctuation artificial gravity tends to have. Good. That would be even more nausea inducing on top of the teleportation. There's a reason most super-hero teams still use a vehicle for transport as opposed to teleportation gates. The second clue that this isn't the Lighthouse is the architecture. Massive, cyclopean columns and walls that appear to be sandstone don't match the ultramodern aesthetic of the Freedom League.
You aren't new recruits for Freedom City's preeminent super team then.
On the other hand, nothing here is ominous or threatening. This doesn't feel like a Crime League trap...even discounting the fact most members of that team renounced their membership since Death magnetic publicly turned down membership, declaring the name too "on the nose" to be taken seriously.
Not to mention the woman leading them through the forest of columns was more captain of industry than evil mastermind.
"Once again, my name is Sofia Cruz and I must apologize for the cryptic messages that summoned all of you, but I couldn't reveal the details in advance. There are too many people who would plunder this location for its secrets for me to risk anyone intercepting the summonses meant for you six alone."
Despite the crisp, businesslike tone, she seems friendly enough. Leading you to a large room, she gestures toward another woman standing at military parade rest. This second woman is tall, lithe and of indeterminate age. She looks to be in her late 20's, but something in her bearing leads you to believe she may be older...perhaps much older.
"Greetings," she says smiling in a way that you imagine she thinks is disarming. It isn't. "My name is Ms. Johnson and I represent an organization that is looking to sponsor a regional team of super-heroes. You six are our preferred choices and Ms. Cruz has been kind enough to volunteer this headquarters for your use. I know this must seem sudden and somewhat vague, but I'd like to get a feel for your enthusiasm before I go into more details. Also, some introductions might be in order because most of your files are painfully thin."
At this time Ms. Cruz clears her throat. "I don't know any of you, so even if you feel reluctant to introduce yourself to Ms. Johnson, seeing as she already has files on you, please introduce yourselves to me."
Her gaze flits across the group, lingering just a little longer on Scarab.
If you have introductions to make or would like to expand upon your first contact from Sofia feel free, then I'll get to the second part of the pitch for you to respond to.
