Mozou
HP : 0
Condition : -1 to checks, Fatigued

From behind the cover she'd managed to slink off to unnoticed, Mozou took stock of the battle.

Doctor Mighty was encased in metal, and definitely NOT going anywhere.

Racer Blade had been thoroughly trashed by Shaper's attack. Yay !!

Derby Doll and Elephanteen were double teaming Wraith. With little success.

Narwhal was an unguided missile, looking for something to hit.

Brownian was squaring off against Mangrove.

Night Ninja was walking into a four against one attack - should not go well for him.

Waverunner must be biding her time, waiting for a good moment to strike.

Since the Eightdred seemed to have few ranged attackers, Mozou decided to go against the one she knew about.

So she unholstered 'Equalizer' (the upgraded blaster rifle she normally uses before she gains any powers), and took aim at Shockin' Gnaw.
Her concealment drops as she concentrates to fire ...
Power attack for 2, so +8 to hit with +10 damage: 1D20+8 = [15]+8 = 23 - unless Shockin' has a Dodge of 13+, Mozou got him with a DC25 Toughness attack.

Mangrove HP: 1, Condition: Normal

Mangrove ignored the Brown Puddle Man for now. The liquid he was composed of looked putrid, and he doubted his powers over nature would do much to him. He knew they needed to target the most mobile of the enemies, as they had the best chance to break away and do harm to the spacecraft. He looked about the battlefield and saw a suitable target.

He took a couple of steps, as he did roots would writhe, disengage from the ground and take root again. Also with each step, he gathered the local flora from the surrounding areas. Grass, reeds, ferns and even weeds added to his bulk until he was a towering mass of plants.

Image

He swung a massive hand and again his limb elongated. This time there was no finesse or flowery beauty to his attack, just a tree-trunk sized fist aimed at Derby Doll.

ooc
Free Action: Growth to full size.
Move: Towards Derby Doll and away from Brownian
Standard: punch vs. Derby Doll: 1D20+9 = [13]+9 = 22 If successful Toughness DC 24 and use Fast Grab: 1D20+11 = [13]+11 = 24 to initiate grapple.

And I know it is overkill but Phytotoxin has a Secondary Effect on Racer Blade. At the end of my turn he must make another Fortitude save vs DC 19. Degrees of Failure add to the 1st due to Cumulative. 2nd degree: Disabled, 3rd degree: Paralyzed.

The three blasters lined up and finally began to unleash their combined fury on the distracted Night Ninja. "Taste Justice!" they spoke in stereo, far too late to react to.

Red Leads with a Power Attack: 1D20+1 = [15]+1 = 16 Forgot to account for the +5 to hit from Teamwork, so the actual result is 21. Since he's Vulnerable, I would hope that it's not possible to avoid, setting a base damage DC of 26.

Pink and Black respectively add their own attacks.: 1D20+11 = [12]+11 = 23
1D20+11 = [4]+11 = 15
I included their Teamwork Bonuses for this one. Kinda salty about the 4 but hey, can't roll straight successes right? (Also, Blue* not Black)

If 1 or 2 Degrees of Success from the Team Attack Base DC28, if 3 Degrees or more (possible?) DC31.

In any case, may the Lord have mercy on this guy's soul.

Shockin' Gnaw was looking at Shaper when Mozou's blast hit him. ((OOC: For some reason, CoyoteCode is currently not working, so I'm going to roll an actual die and you'll have to take my word for it. :) ) Toughness roll of 1 + base of 7. The big mouth villain gets blown sideways, clearly unconscious.

Mangrove's enlargement seems to take the villains who are still conscious by surprise, but none moreso than Derby Doll as she saw him advance on her. In spite of the shock (or perhaps because of it), she spins on her wheels and attempts to get away, but can not outrun his extending hand. Toughness roll of 13 + base of 5. She is dazed from the blow and is enveloped in his expansive grip.

As the Citizen Quartet use a battle cry, Night Ninja seems to realize the mistake he has made by concentrating on a single combatant far too late. Toughness roll of 8 + base of 5 vs DC28 (2 degrees). The man in black throws up his hands in pain and anguish, staggering a few steps forward, then back again, but refuses to fall.

Brownian Movement, refusing to be ignored by the jolly green giant, follows Mangrove, once again shifting his mass, this time into a very solid mass. Using the 2 for basic Power Attack. Attack roll of 18 - 2 + 9 = 25 to hit. If it connects, DC24 + Improved Critical = DC29.

Wraith (7) and Waverunner (2) are next.

Wraith
HP:1 Cnd: Beast Within

Wraith's eyes scanned the battlefield as he soared quietly above the mayhem. The brief glance was enough to tell him that the Guardsmen were dealing with their targets competently. With slight flip and roll back around, Stephyn sees that Derby Doll has met a tree that did move, Mangrove had her in hand...truly in hand. In that instant, a growling rumbled through his being...a growling not his own. A pulse of darkness ripples across his form, coiling tentacles of night flow around his limbs....Uuunngghh...dammit...Not...your...BODY!!!!...Wraith's eyes blaze with a dark inhuman, malevolence, his teeth are grinding in a grimace, he turns to face Elephanteen. Pulling his arm back, the shadows slide and stretch in his clenched fist...lengthening and narrowing in to something dark and deadly. Gone is the intent to subdue and entrap. In it's place is simply the need to strike!
Simple enough: Shadowlance[Ranged Damage 10]Shadowlance DC25: 1D20+8 = [19]+8 = 27...Yup, that's gonna leave a mark.

As Wraith let's his Shadowlance fly, the weapon of darkness smacks into her right in the breadbasket. Toughness check: 1D20+13 = [20]+13 = 33. Her thick elephant-like hide absorbs it all, however, without causing her any discomfort.

((OOC: Sorry, but natural 20s are like that sometimes, but for the surfacing of the beast, take a Hero Point. ;) ))

Mangrove HP: 1, Condition: Bruised 1

Brownian's blow left a huge depression in the Shambling Mound known as Mangrove. His fist made a bit of a wet sucking sound as he retracted it from the plant man's body. But Mangrove stood unmoving. His grip on Derby Doll still tight. The "wound" he recieved slowly but surely began to mend.

ooc
Toughness vs DC 29: 1D20+12 = [13]+12 = 25
Takes a bruise.

Waverunner
hp 1->0
cond: -1, dazed

Waverunner took a moment to look over the combatants. Most of the Eight-Dread seemed intent in their ways, that they had chosen their way in life. Elephanteen still had a chance, still had an opportunity to turn her life around. Being a teenager sucked for the most part. Trying to find ways to define who you are not just now but for the rest of your life. The hormones churning and throwing up a confusing miasma of dramatic feelings.

She had been lucky, maybe too lucky. Friends were easy for her to make but there were also a lot of creeps. Way too many creeps. *shudder* She knew, in the loosest terms, what she wanted to be since she was old enough to walk. She had two families that loved her, and while maybe didn't understand her all the time, supported her.

Still, growing up, she knew so many kids that didn't fit in as well for so many stupid reasons. Money? Race? Religion? Sexual orientation? Hobbies? Different stages of physical development? So many stupid reasons. She had always tried to go out of her way to offer some positive support, a helping hand, a smile.. maybe even playing some matchmaking. And then finding herself at the ocean that she loved so much.

Maybe this was another of those times. Maybe she could help someone in their time of need before they made some really bad mistakes that they couldn't walk away from.

With a splash, she landed back down near Elephanteen, offering out a hand. If E wanted to, Waverunner could be so easily gored.

Putting on her most beautiful smile, the one that touched her bright blue eyes. "Hey, I'd like to talk with you, can we step away from all of this for a minute?"

She heard the question. Her huge elephant ears flapped as she turned her head first right, and then left, as she tried to figure out who this beautiful water woman was addressing. It dawned on her that she, herself, was being talked to.

Part of her felt jealousy towards this woman. And part of her felt anger. She was clearly one of the 'beautiful people'; one of the people that had made her life hell... even before that Frenchwoman did what she did. But she didn't sound like those people. Even the Frenchwoman, who had seemed so kind at first.

She also took in how her teammates were doing. None of these heroes were the ones they were expecting. But Harlan and Rex were both out. And Dr. Bill was... well, he was going to be a while.

"You... you're talking... to me?" Elephanteen's voice cracked, hoping against hope she wasn't about to get played... again.

Round 3

Post by jcjec »

Night Ninja leaned upon his sword, trying to get things back into focus. First there was one, then four, and now he'd swear there were at least a half dozen or more. "Where the he11 do you all keep coming from?" Standing upright, he swings at the one standing closest.... or at least the one he thinks is closest. Katana strike at Citizen Black.: 1D20+10 = [19]+10 = 29 With his improved critical, it makes it a DC26.

Derby Doll struggles against Mangrove's grip, but is unable to escape.

Shaper and Citizen Black are up.

Black tries not to die: 1D20+4 = [8]+4 = 12 Nope, that's a bad roll right there.

(I'm gonna assume that's 3 degrees of failure right there.)

Black's sacrifice was calculated, but he didn't expect Night Ninja to stay standing from that assault, so when the Ninja kept standing and swiped at him, he took it... well... not in stride. He was knocked back and reeling, his visiom instantly blurred.

Was this it? Was he about to die? This, both regretably and not, was not his first tango with near death. It's a known fact that robbers have guns, and they don't always miss. Unfortunately, Citizen Black and the Quartet as a whole are not superhumanly durable. A bullet was always a dangerous thing to him, and so was a sword.

The difference now, was that there was a trick to dealing with this injury. Not yet, the fight needed to be finished. Citizen Black wouldn't give in, even as his suit's top section was split wide open, as was his chest, he remained standing for some reason, pure willpower.

He raised up his blaster to eye level with Night Ninja. Pressing a button on the back, the blaster powered up, shifting forms to stun mode swiftly. He spoke up through the pain, "That really hurts... Tell me how this feels."

Black seeks vengeance, Set To Stun Power Attack: 1D20+1 = [7]+1 = 8

His aim wavers and he shoots past the Ninja. Well shit. That about does it then, don't it?

Shaper
HP:1
Condition: -1 Damage Saves

Floating in the air above the battlefield, Shaper surveyed the remaining enemy threats. With two of the most mobile members of Eightdred, and the third entangled by Mangrove, the priority targets were out as far as he could tell. Which basically left the mop up of the remaining members. Don't get too cocky though... Bringing his thoughts back to the matter at hand, he looked towards Night Ninja, and continued glancing about until his sight fell upon Narwhal. While the transformed man didn't, as far as Shaper could tell, pose much threat to him in the air, he had previously tried to attack Shaper. Seemed to him a good of target as any.

Cycling through the settings on his gauntlets, Shaper settled on the particle atomization beam that he had tried earlier against Doctor Might. Maybe it would prove more effective against the unfortunate toothed man.
Atomize attack: 1D20+11 = [17]+11 = 28. That would be a DC 17 Fortitute (Weaken Toughness) linked DC 22 Toughness

Narwhal was looking up at Shaper, trying to figure out a way to get up to him, when the turqouise man started playing with his gauntlet again. He knew that was probably going to be trouble. Then a blast of energy hit him square on. Fortitude check: 1D20+10 = [9]+10 = 19 and Toughness check: 1D20+9 = [1]+9 = 10 His vision began to swim, and not in the good way, as he staggers, barely able to stay on his feet.

Elephanteen, head turned, waits to hear what the beautiful blonde woman has to say.

Citizen Red (21), Citizen Blue (19) and Magnaflux (19) are up.

Waverunner
hp 0
cond: -1, dazed

Waverunner steps closer, well, wobbles.. closer. She doesn't feel so beautiful right now. The rolled like that hurt. A lot.

Her eyes go wide as Black is cut down. "noooo.." her hand reaches out towards him. Worry written across her face. Yes, he was a jerk, but he was still team. Her eyes start to swim as she looks across all the downed across the scene.

But right now, there was something more important. She wasn't much good in a fight but she could still help someone.

Her fingers reach out towards Elephanteen, a warm smile. "Yes, you." she looks worriedly across the scene. "This is getting really bad, isn't it? People getting hurt?"

Eel slime, she was loosing this too, wasn't she?
