Kit was munching on his bison burger complete with barbecue sauce, onion ring, pickles, and sharp cheddar cheese as Juno spoke. Taking another sip of his Heineken beer, nods. Gods were just another way to say powerful other worldly beings as far as Kit was concerned. Sure, they were more powerful than most, but still other dimensional or higher plane at the very least. "Here I thought having an overly strict other dimensional mum was bad enough. Your secrets safe with me as long as you want to keep it. Everyone is entitled to a private life and all that. I'm sure all of us have stuff we rather not get out.", says Kit nonchalantly.

My other mother was the mighty Amazon, a superhero like ourselves, Ven. They loved each other so much that the goddess Hera herself not only blessed it and oversaw their marriage, but gave them the gift of me, their own daughter. they chose Hera's roman name for me, and... Hera is my godmother. She watches over me, will sometimes do me a 'favor' like tripping that reporter, and sometimes she comes for a visit or to seek my aid in... god stuff. So, she may show up here in intrude on your lives as well. She can be exasperating, but she means well, and only has a problem if you're one of Zeus' bastards"

Helping himself to a bowl of salt and vinegar chips that was laying about Tamati listened to Juno's explanation, wow an actual goddess was watching over her.

"That is amazing and wow must have made growing up a lot of fun. So does that mean the other Greek Gods are real as well?"

Tamati left unasked the question if the Greek Gods are real did that mean Tane, Maui, Tangaroa and the others were also real.
"It had its moments," Juno muses, "and yes. Ares in particular, who was mother's... the Amazon's greatest enemy. So, you understand that I don't want to make my connection to her public yet."
"EEEEEEEEE! THAT IS SO COOL!" Arca-Knight squeals loudly. She's changed back from her hero outfit into civilian clothes and currently stuffing her face with a package of Oreo cookies. "Sorry, its just I sensed the magic of your godmother's....Heh God Mother... um her 'divine vengeance' when it happened and recognized her 'calling card' from reading up on Hellenic mythology. Most of the magical beings and phenomenons I've been exposed to so far have been Extra-planar rather than native so to encounter the aftermath of something as well known as one of the Olympian Pantheon is just really exciting for me."

Arca-Knight is so excited about this that she's literally hovering slightly off the ground.

She manages to rein herself in eventually. "I also understand why you'd want to keep your personal stuff private, especially out of the mouth of the media. Its kind of why I've not made my real name public and one of the reasons I give myself a magical makeover on the job." She waves a hand to indicate her slightly glowing white eyes and hair. She pauses a moment and then dispels the magic revealing her natural dark hair and eyes. Her face has less obvious differences to it as well, all the natural blemishes and imperfections normally hidden are visible. Like seeing someone without makeup for the first time. "My name is Miranda by the way... you know in case you wanted to know... for when I'm not wearing the cape and such...yeah."

Miranda seems a lot less confident speaking without the magical mask and the Arca-Knight mantle. "Anyways my family knows about the magic and that I joined a superhero team, but I don't want to drag them too far into things and disrupt their lives. I mean I can and have done things to protect them from the magical side of things...its the public side of things I'm worried about. Could you imagine the kind of damage those media muckrakers from earlier could do?"

The rest of the day is uneventful. You enjoy a meal and talk with each other, having a good time in general.

While some of the press reports of the event (if anyone bothers to watch them) are largely negative, the Internet chatter is mostly positive with several local bloggers and Youtubers slamming the press for their unprofessional reporting and interviewing.

Also in the news, a reports of a new flying hero with a moth theme. There isn't much info, but she has left a few victims in polymer cocoons in her wake. Nobody has been hurt but she seems to be doing it to get attention and her crimes are escalating.
I will start the next adventure on Wednesday. It will start about a week after the interview. If you write up a substantial (more than a paragraph or two) interlude, you will start the next adventure with an extra HP.

If you want to look into Luna Moth item, you can include that in your interlude, but you can not apprehend her. If you recognize the lead-in for the next story, please keep it to yourself.

Sky Guard
HP: 0
Cnd: Healthy
Favored Environment: Defense Shifted

Sky Guard had a lot to do in the intervening week, and it wasn't all what most people would typically expect from someone on a superhero team. Firstly, there was talk of support staff for the team with Frank and Sanzel. Ven wanted to be involved in vetting the people, and called in the team's own specialists when someone touched on their sphere of influence. He didn't do any deep mind intrusion. That aside he did his best to ensure they weren't letting any snakes into their operation. Sky Guard didn't micro-manage the endeavor, but he wanted to make sure that any people hired on were working under the team, and answering to the Guardians when relevant. Technicians and scientific specialists working with Angela, occultists with Arca-Knight, investigative personnel with Juno, and public relations coordinating with Kit. Security and day to day affairs were in Frank's hands and Sky Guard didn't do anything to try to remove those responsibilities from the man who had donated his family lands to the new Guardians.

After working to sort out the support staff, if there were going to be any, Ven made an effort to reach out to civil services in the Gulf Coast. Law enforcement, the national guard, search and rescue, coast guard, and other groups that he thought the Guardians might end up needing to cooperate with in their duties. He tried to schedule some time for the team and these groups to cross-train, and establish protocols that both organizations could agree to. Of course Sky Guard let the other Guardians know of his intentions and kept them up to date on any progress he made on these discussions. In addition to more proactive efforts, Ven also contacted hospitals in the area. He checked to see if they and any of their patients were both in need of his healing abilities and willing to undergo the process. There were warnings here, Ven made a point of noting that he could not cure all wounds, and that he would need recovery time between such efforts to cope with any trauma he suffered from taking on the patient's illnesses.

Between reaching out to the community, trying to organize the team, training and exercise regiments, and more routine heroics such as rushing out to thwart mundane lawbreakers and rescue people from burning buildings Sky Guard didn't have much free time. When he had the opportunity, and there was not some team social event such as a group dinner, Ven spent his time in solitude. He flew for the sake of flying. Out in the open spaces. The further from people and civilization the better. He wanted to get to know the people he was to protect and serve, but he needed time alone. Once he'd been a social creature. Now … it was painful being around the populace whose world he had taken part in assaulting. He saw his victims in their faces and when he closed his eyes. They haunted his dreams and crept into his waking thoughts like wraiths. Flying alone out in those open spaces away from everyone and everything reminded him of home and sometimes he could stop thinking about the horrible things he'd done. He'd never forget though.

New Orleans and the gulf coast was a fun place. Even after the spill, parties were still a blast and Bourbon street was the place to be at night. Sky Guard was the serious one. So, to show he was taking this a bit more serious than his past might convey Kit went along with talking to any PR staff, although they mostly involved questions pertaining to relaxing, having fun, and generally giving off a good image that wasn't too stressed out. Kit wasn't the sort to be super serious. Expecting it of others would be hypocrisy on his part, so he left that to whoever wanted to play the tough one. Despite taking it seriously, Kit knew taking it too seriously was a recipe for disaster on his part since that just wasn't his style.

Daily duties done, Kit just wanted to get some shots, maybe a boot of beer, and some crawfish. Hitting the town though wasn't as easy as he had hoped. People had saw the press conference and a new hero team in town wasn't something easily looked over by most people. Some bought him shots, some flirted with him slipping napkins with their number, and others were like the press had been. For the first two, he was glad to hang out and have a bit of fun. To be polite, of course, he kept the napkins and gave a devilish smile all the while knowing that calling the numbers probably wan't going to happen. It was a convention tricked he used mostly. One encounter with a girl dressed as the bikini clad heroine of a French film he worked some stunts was enough for him. For the last group, the one trying to bait him, he bought them a shot.

By day, nursing a hangover one morning, he did read a little about Luna Moth. As it was though, he didn't find any good way to track her down and that wasn't his strong suit anyway. Instead, he made a point to mingle with the city. It had been a year or two since he had been around the place, so he made a point of stopping by a few of the local shops and restaurants just to say hi. In addition, he couldn't resist a beignet or two. Getting community on support on their side was crucial and he could never resist the charm of the place.

On one particular night of spending time in a rowdy bar, Kit even broke up a fight. Two guys were blitzed out of their mind and decided to take swings at each other before Kit stopped them much to the applause of the bar. On another occasion, he saved an inebriated girl from being dragged out of the bar by an over eager bloke despite her sort of resisting. Knowing being a hero meant more than breaking up bar fights and saving girls from date rape, Kit also took to helping some dog shelters around the areas. Dogs were always fun to be around, so he didn't mind at all. Somehow he press picked up on most of this from his cult following fan blogs and despite them trying to twist it were rebuffed by his fans.

Juno

Alone in her room, Juno breathes in the smell of burning pomegranate incense, her tribute to her godmother Hera. It's been a busy week, not only getting to know the team, but re-establishing contacts.

It's been years since she was living in the United States, and her time as a treasure hunter broke more bridges than she likes to reminisce. But the Faircraft name has its pull, and she works out some basic verbal contracts with the Gulf Coast's universities and museums. But that's just to put her shingle out, a mere first step to her true plans as she starts marking down the extant native tribes or immigrant communities. After the press conference, she knows this is how she can pay back her misspent youth. Juno's still a treasure hunter, she can't change that aspect of herself, but she CAN make sure that the peoples whose treasures were stolen and graves robbed for the benefit of old white millionaires can share in that wealth, that its THEIR treasures she brings back into the modern day, and that THEY get to say its worth or who gets to look at it in the museums they choose.

But again, that is for another time. dwelling on amending her regrets, Juno doesn't notice the very private number she types into the landline phone. the other side rings twice, and picks up, but goes directly to voicemail, a mere recording of cultured new England tones that barely begins to speak before Juno slams the handset back into the phoine, shattering both.

"No, I'm not ready to talk to mother yet" she thinks. and as she goes to bed, instead of dreaming of a harem of nubile myths, Juno relives a melange of bitter memories, of quixotic quests to the far corners of the Earth, heated arguments, and attempts at amends that only widened the rift between mother and daughter...

Shadow of the Past

Each of you is out and about handing some form of personal or team business. Juno, you are leaving a guest lecture at Delgado Community College. Kit, you are just leaving a new creole restaurant grand opening that had several members of the city council at doing your "team schmooze" routine. And Skyguard, you are returning from one of your solo flights. The rest of you are doing something in the city, either finishing up some personal business or just out on patrol.

Suddenly, the sky is filled with figures and explosions. A single winged figure is being chased by six figures on flying cycles. The vehicles are firing lasers and the winged figure and hitting only air... or more accurately the buildings, street signs, and vehicles behind where their target was a split second ago.

The winged flier definitely matches the images of Luna Moth. The figures are dressed grey and black costumes with a red circle and black lightning bolt on the chest. Most of you recognize them as SHADOW agents.

As Luna Moth turns a corner, several blasts strike the corner of the building. Large chunks of brick follow towards the city council members and press leaving the restaurant that Kit has just left.
Sakuro, MrDent, and Kreuz all start with an extra HP.

Initiative:
Kit: 1d20+7 22
Taheka: 1d20+6 18
Juno: 1d20+8 17
Skyguard: 1d20+10 16
Angela: 1d20+2 16
Luna Moth: 1d20+2 16
Arca-Knight: 1d20+6 15
Shadow Agents: 1d20+1 13

The debris will strike the civilians at the end of the round.
Shadow agents are minions but none of them flying close enough to use Takedown on.
Luna Moth is not a minion.
Every round Luna Moth flies, she is trying to loose any pursuit. Anyone trying to follow her, needs to makes a Movement check against her Flight check. If she gets 4 net successes throughout the scene, she escapes. The best check for the team is used.

Also both Luna Moth and the air cycles moving at Flight 7, and unless noted, they are using at least one move action per round - so you need to keep up.

One of the benefits of playing this sort of scene so many times, albeit in a stunt coordinated and safe fashion, was that he knew how falling objects played out. Insurance companies loved the productions he was part of that had this sort of stuff mainly because who better to provide and escape route for someone when they would otherwise be hurt by accidental falling objects. With the flick of the wrist, he does the motion one does when tossing a frisbee. In this case though, it looks like he is playing air frisbee until a twirling black portal forms in the middle of the press and council members pulling them in like an escape valve to safety.

As they came through to a safe location away from the falling objects, Kit was there to greet them with a smile. "Hey, didn't we just hang out? I'd get to safety if I were you. This is going to get messy.", says Kit in some variation as enough get through in bursts. Now was the time to show the value of the team. Plus, it wouldn't hurt with impressing one of the waitresses who seemed like she wanted nothing to do with him.
Power Stunting as I am not sure if simply opening a portal in the middle for them to run through would allow debris through as well.
If simply opening a portal for them to go through and they have the action to get through before it all falls on them, ignore the power stunt.
Teleport 5(Extras: Area Burst +2/rank, Ranged +1/rank, Attack +0/rank, Selective +1/rank) 6pp/rank so 30pp. Could go one higher rank if needed or add a bigger area.

Kit

Your black portal expands around all of the press and city council. Frozen in fear already by the falling debris, they don't do anything to avoid it.

They are moved half a block down the street in the opposite direction of the chase.
They are safely out of the action. Kit gets an HP for using his action to save the civilians.

Taheka is up. Be sure to setup what you were doing when you noticed the chase.

Tamati "Taheka" Stevens
HP: 1 LP: 1
Condition: Fatigued

Tamati was feeling quite pleased with himself with what he had been up to over the last week since the press conference. While he didn't have any of the specific skill sets the other team members had in selecting support staff for their new headquarters he did approach Sky Guard offering his assistance as a third person on any interviewing teams, he might not know what they were all talking about but he could at least get a vibe on what they were like as a person. Strangely enough he felt Sky Guard, even though he was an alien, was a better judge of character than he was but it was still fun.

Otherwise Tamati spent down at the beach swimming in the ocean, trying some surfing and rescuing swimmers who had got into trouble and the couple of kids on wake boards who got swept put by a rip.

But what had consumed most of his time was the work on getting a moko completed on his upper right arm, it had been a surprise to find an ex-pat in the city who understood the history and tradition of the moko and they had spent a couple of hours talking and working out what he wanted to have represented in the moko or tattoo.

Now that the moko was completed Tamati was out grabbing a meal from some of the ethic food stalls that popped up, eel and mussels was a treat he hadn't had since he had left New Zealand when the noise of blaster fire caught his attention.

Not even thinking Tamati ran towards the sound of the commotion, already changing into his aqueous form, the moko now lost in the ebbs and flows that made up his watery body.

Seeing a flying woman being pursued by Shadow agents, Tamati made a snap decision, Shadow always bad so help whomever Shadow was after.

Sending a stream of water towards the flying Shadown agents Tamati tried to take as many out of action as possible.

Power stunt Water Blast 10 Extra Area Cone, Flaw Touch Range only.
DC20 Dodge for a DC25/20 Toughness Save

Tamati will angle the blast to catch as many Shadow agents as possible.

Tamati will be fatigued at the end of the round.

Taheka

You blast hits three of the Shadow agents, sending their flying cycles careening off in different directions.

Fortunately, none of them are going to hit any civilians but will damage some buildings.
I am going to say you get three in your cone.
Shadow Agents Dodge: 3#1d20+5 24 19 16
Shadow Agents Toughness: 3#1d20+5 19 12 22
All three fail.

If anyone chooses to reduce the property damage, you will get an HP. They will hit at the beginning of Taheka's turn in Round 2.

Juno

I need a freakin' drink, Juno thinks to herself as she exits the university. the Amazonian redhead still turns heads with his size and personal charisma, but not as much as she would in her work clothes, or as she should probably start thinking of it, her 'costume'. Instead she's dressed more professionally than normal, with dress shirt, sharp black jacket and athletic skirt over her shorts, because now that she's a card-carrying superhero, Juno knows both sides of her life are going to collide head on.

not knowing such a collision is mere moments away, Juno thinks why she's looking for open bars at this hour. it was supposed to be a quick lecture on El Dorado and why it really was just a myth made up by greedy conquistadors, only to wind up arguing with a history professor who was a living, breathing insult to the field.

its actually a relief when Luna moth and the SHADOW air cycles shoot past overhead, much needed action to clear her head, as without thinking, she leaps to catch one of the cycles that veers wildly out of control.
ooc: I'm presuming like an unarmed attack roll to catch said cycle
attack: 1d20+8 26 if its straight FIT, then that's a 22

EDIT: was asked to add a STR check (DC 20), so...
strength: 1d20+12 19

nuts.

EDIT 2: adding...
Toughness: 1d20+12 23

Juno

You leap up and catch the skycycle, but have a harder time than expected trying to divert it away from any buildings. You just miss the corner of a glass office building but in doing so take the full brunt of the cylce as you crash into the ground with it on top of you.

Fortunately, you are still able to slam back against the ground with your hands executing a perfect back breakfall despite the added weight and velocity.
Take an HP for the rescue.

Skyguard is up. There are still two more skycycles wildly out of control.

Sky Guard
HP: 2
Cnd: Healthy
Favored Environment: Attack Shifted

After destressing with a nice solo flight Sky Guard came back to the population center to find discord. With a furrowed brow he took stock of the scene unfolding from his vantagepoint between clouds and building tops. With a tilt of his wings his began a dive. During his descent he called out of the Guardian's coms.

"This is Sky Guard. All Guardians call in with your present location. There is a conflict in progress between two criminal elements. They are at [insert location] and headed [insert direction]. Six … make that three, I saw that Taheka. Three ... individuals piloting small aircraft chasing a woman in a costume. I am engaging."

He had just enough time to send the message out over the coms before he was flying fist first at a Shadow Agent. He had no experience or knowledge of the organization, but their disregard for property and lives was enough for him to know that he needed to intercede. After attempting to knock the antagonist out, SKy Guard maneuvered to slide into control of the Sky Cycle and guide it to the ground.
OOC wrote:If need be, here is an Athletic check to bump Flight speed by +1. Athletics: 1d20+12 23

Standard Action: Charge a Shadow Agent. Power Attack -3 Atk/+3 Dmg. Take 10, for a total of 18 to hit. DC 25 Tough.

Move Action: If he takes out the pilot, Sky Guard will try to keep the Sky Cycle from crashing. Preferably steering it safely to the ground if it isn't too difficult. If this requires a check, I expect it to be too high of a DC for Sky Guard's limited Skill and won't bother making it unless civilian lives would be endangered.
