OOC:
Ok, you definitely got the virus purged, so...yay!
As Imperious rockets away, he realizes the coordinates given was actually an area he’d flown over while searching for the Enginseer potentially bedeviling Bastion! It was no wonder Imperious missed it, though, as it was a mile and a half below the surface of the Lock, in a hermetically-sealed facility accessible solely by a single cleverly hidden door.

After assessing the area Imperious drops out of the sky before coming to a sudden stop a few inches off the ground before actually touching down on the solid structure of the Lock. His landing site was perhaps ten meters from the door. The rest of the distance he covered on foot. Walking. No effort to conceal his presence was made. He wanted to give whatever security systems were in place a chance to pick up on his arrival. At the door he balls up a fist and raps his knuckles over it's surface … knocking.

A voice pipes up from nowhere, a feminine yet mechanical voice, saying, “You have ten seconds to leave, before my defenses reduce you to ash.”

A warning. That was a good sign. The occupant could have simply attacked once their pressence was discovered. Imperious turned his head left, then right, as he inspected the area around the door for a couple seconds. This time was devoted to looking those potential defense systems. Though there was no haste in his action he did not draw out his silence needlessly long. When he spoke, he raised his voice a touch, uncertain how receptive any microphones or other audio bases sensors in the area may be.

“...f**k. Sigh. I’ll let you in.” There was a buzzing noise, and the door popped open, leading to a cramped ladder. The ladder went down a meager ten feet, before coming to a stop, right in front of a lift. “Let’s get this over with,” the voice opined.

With the door opened, Imperious stepped through the doorway. He paused long enough to ensure the door was closed, and if need be closed it himself. Then he climbed down the ladder and waited at the lift until it opened. When it did, he inspected the interior before entering. Though Imperious scrutinized his environment and studied things in it, he seemed inclined to go through the Enginseer's security measures for the time being. Throughout the entry process he made no effort to initiate a dialog with the disembodied voice. He wanted to wait until they were face to face before holding a dialog.

The lift was made entirely of glass, secured by shielded magnetic cabling, which basically functioned as levitation. As he entered, the door slid shut, and the lift started to descend.

It was a slow but steady ride down, and at several points Imperious saw he was underwater: unknowable debris and half-hidden mutant wildlife drifted by, caved-in sections of wall allowing other chambers of the Locked Sea to flood into this one. Imperious saw tantalizing hints of what once was, a myopic glimpse into the glorious past. Vehicles, adorned in meaninglessly obscured sports logos, sat and corroded, billboards with miraculously unblemished ads for corporate-made clothing, even an enormous titanium statue of some sort, a massively bulky figure in cumbersome power-armor. So much history, lost forever.

At last, the lift entered an enclosed space, and stayed there for the next three minutes of the trip downward. When the lift came to a halt, but before the door opened, Imperious saw a biotwist with three arms, two head and a small torso partially melded into a larger, hunchbacked torso, waiting for him. The poor creature had a grossly shrunken lower jaw, almost comically so.

The door opened. The creature, dressed in overalls, motioned at Imperious. “Fa’oh me. I ahk yu tu astah. She see yu. Come. Come.”

Imperious was patient throught the downward trip into the Enginseer's domain. While the field of view allowed it, he took in the scenery of the submered past. How much of the old world was hidden away beneath the Lock, he wondered. Sometimes, what he saw things like this, it felt as though the past were hiding. Or concealed. As though fearful of something in the present. Briefly he mused on this, until the sight was blocked off by the structure of the lift's shaft. He could have kept looking. Looked through the wall and to the waters. But he didn't want to ruminating too much on what was blinded a person to was is, or could be. The lift stopped to the sighted of a freakish biotwist. Imperious studied the person as he stepped out of the lift. Then, after hearing their indication as a escort, he made to follow them.

"Hello. Is there a name that you go by?"

The biotwist grinned, at least, as best as it could, and said, “Ahm Mykil. Ahm Mykil!”

"Michael, am I pronouncing that correctly?"

After making sure he understood the correct pronunciation Imperious offered a subtle nod. Talking as they walked, he continued to have light conversation with the biotwist as long as they were amenable to discourse.

"I go by Imperious."

He raised his left hand to motion at his chest when he shared his preferred name.

"How long have you lived in this place Michael?"

During their trek Imperious' eyes moved between the mutated escort and the things in his environment. Studying. Scrutinizing. Then moving his eyes onward to another item of interest.

After leading Imperious through a confusing maze of twisting and cramped—-and dimly-lit—-corridors, Michael finally shows Imperious into a small office. Barely large enough for one person and a seat for that person, a slot in the wall opened up and into view slid a jar containing a cybernetically-enhanced human brain, stewing in bubbling chemical broth. From speakers came her voice: “I was hoping to avoid you. Let me guess. You uncovered the trade in historical documents I have going on several people at your Bastion. If you’re expecting an apology, you’re going to be sorely disappointed.”

Stepping into the tiny room Imperious pans eyes around it's interior. Taking in the composition of it and the equipment or furnishings present within. Then a slot opened up on the opposite end of the room revealing, presumably, the person he had spoke with at the hidden door. He didn't respond right away. Instead he inspected the brain and it's containment unit. No. He was not expecting a disembodied brain. Someone that was more hardware the flesh, certainly. Still, he did not balk from discource with the Enginseer, and after his initial appraisal of the woman he spoke up.

"There are a number of topics for us to discuss. I was going to bring those involving Bastion up late. Since you a want to address them now, I will."

Lifting his left had he gestured towards his host at that last sentence, as though accepting her invitation.

"It does not matter if you are an Enginseer, Cybermagus, Beastfolk, Mutant, or Xenogen. I've no issue with trade, so long as it is not with a hostile party. Someone whose actions would harm Bastion or it's citizenry. Your secrecy inspires suspicion, however, and as a community grows trade needs to be regulated. From now on your trade deals will be made official, subject to public records, if you wish to continue them. Should you choose to continue obfuscating your deals, I will confiscate the goods traded. That Includes coming here to do so."

If it were possible for a disembodied brain to look upset, now was that time. “I,” she said icily, “am engaged in sensitive research. I need medication—-especially sedatives—-to keep control over my test subjects. The historical data is useless to me. Ergo, a trade was established. I did not want you involved. I have enough problems on my proverb8al hands to last a lifetime. I don’t need you adding to them.”

He listened to the Enginseer's respond. Showing no signs that he would interject as she said her peace and explained her position. When she had finished Imperious offered a single not of the head, using body language to express that he had heard and understood. A simple acknolwedgement that he was taking into account her concerns. He waited a short span to allow the woman to continue and when she did not Imperious responded. His tone of voice was mild, but held a touch of authoritive firmness.

"I have no issue with your engaging in trade agreements with Bastion's citizens. Only the manner in which this trade is being conducted. I do not want to interfere in your trade relationships or your research. Nor will I, so long as you respect what I have outlined. Will you agree to this?"
OOC wrote:He's basically saying: 1.) don't become a threat to Bastion, 2.) follow our trade laws, 3.) be open about the trade/put it on record like any other official trade relationship.
