Vortex:

The hurricane force winds blow against Pender but an odd shimmering aura surrounds his body, protecting him from any harm they might have done. However, his summoned creatures do not fare as well and are all blown about the room in a cacophony of loud chittering, clicking and the sounds of their shelled bodies crashing into the surrounding walls. Despite all that though, the crab-like creatures quickly pick themselves up and attack you in unison in a display of surprising tactics that you easily avoid with some creative use of some portals.

While you are busy dealing with that Pender pulls a hand carved cane from somewhere within his robes, points it at you then says another gibberish word which unleashes a blueish bolt of energy at you.

OOC:
Pender's Dodge Check (vs DC 20): _: 1D20+8 = [13]+8 = 21, so that'll be half damage.
Pender's Toughness Check (vs DC 20): _: 1D20+11 = [10]+11 = 21, just enough to beat it.

and because they're close enough to Pender they're in the AOE.
Summoned Creature's Dodge Check (vs DC 20): _: 1D20+2 = [9]+2 = 11, thy take full damage.
Summoned Creature's Toughness Check (vs DC 25): _: 1D20+4 = [19]+4 = 23, and that'll be a Bruise for all of them since they're tougher than normal minions.

They'll attack Vortex.
Summoned Creature's Attack: _: 1D20+3 = [9]+3 = 12, no way that's hitting.

Pender's Attack: _: 1D20+10 = [1]+10 = 11 ..... uh hell no. Take an HP EO 'cause I'm Fiating that crap roll.
Pender's Re-rolled Attack: _: 1D20+10 = [3]+10 = 13, and thanks to the Re-roll Bonus that's a 23 to hit total with a Toughness DC 25.

---
Eva's countdown clock has reached zero at this point.

and Vortex is up depending on his rolls.

Quiet you

"It's also possible he's recalled them because he's in trouble. Either way, they need to be tracked. Take Spectre with you and make sure they stay out of trouble."

Liz would have liked to send both Spectre and Darklight with Vanguard but that left her alone with the elemental. She wasn't afraid of it but that left the team split too thin.

Vortex
HP: 5->4 / LP: 2
COND: Unharmed

Vortex couldn't divert it in time and was jolted back by the bolt, but kept his footing and amplified the wind.
Toughness: 1D20+8 = [15]+8 = 23
Standard Action to Recover (+2 active defense bonus) - wiping away the Bruised.

Vindicator
HP: 3; Condition: Times up here I come.

0:03... 0:02... 0:01...0:00 Alert

The numbers counted down in almost agonizingly slow fashion for Eva especially given her minds tendency to go deep into quantum temporal mechanics when she was considering time and its implications. Most people saw a minute countdown, she saw the millions of possible temporal threads off shooting from each second.

When it hit zero though and Vortex still hadn't checked in she acted, there was whoomp of displaced air and then a burst of impact force that left a small indentation in the sidewalk when she landed in front of the store. She ignored the stunned looks on several bystanders faces as she marched into the store with a purpose and a fearsome determination that she was extracting her teammate to safetly.

And woe to anyone or thing that got in her way.

She thought she heard Liz's voice over the comms but wasn't sure; something was interfering with the signals it seemed. All the more reason to get Vortex and get out of there.

She walked back to the shelf Vortex had found and moved the switches in order opening the entrance.

Vortex & Vindicator:

Again Pender is saved by his strange shimmering field as he fights his way to his feet. However, his summoned creatures don't fair nearly as well as once again they are bounced around the room by the hurricane force winds you unleashed against them and they disappear in puffs of smoke.

This turn of events brings a curse from Pender's lips which is promptly followed by another string of unintelligible words and odd gestures which summons up a set of opponents; this time a small grouping of lizard-like men.

Meanwhile Vindicator can now easily hear the sounds of the fight from the doorway she'd just opened.

OOC:
Just reposting an update of Initiative;

Vortex's Initiative: 1D20+2 = [19]+2 = 21
Pender's Initiative: _: 1D20+4 = [13]+4 =17
Eva's initiative _: 1D20+8 = [4]+8 = 12

--
Pender's Dodge (vs DC 20): _: 1D20+8 = [1]+8 = 9, apparently CC really doesn't like this guy. Fiat to re-roll (take another HP EO).
Pender's Re-rolled Dodge (vs DC 20): _: 1D20+8 = [2]+8 = 10, and that'll be 20 total so half Toughness.
Pender's Toughness Check (vs DC 20): _: 1D20+10 = [9]+10 = 19, and another Bruise (x3 total).

Summoned Creature's Dodge (vs DC 20): _: 1D20+2 = [8]+2 = 10, so they're rolling against the full value.
Summoned Creature's Toughness (vs DC): _: 1D20+3 = [15]+3 = 18, and that'll be enough to damage them to the point that they're out of the fight.

and here's what Pender brought into the fight this time.

---
So Vindicator's up.

Vindicator
HP: 3; Condition: Fine/Suit Fine

Walking through the doorway with that same measured stride Eva didn't slow when her suits sensors picked up a displacement of air and the impact of several bodies, followed by a bit of profanity and some arcane mumbling. Turning the corner she saw Vortex outnumbered and decided to enter the party in force.

Eva raised a hand and let fly with a stream of blue white plasma that shrieked past Vortex and slammed into Pender like a shooting star.

"You're late checking in." she said her voice a cool even tone as she stepped next to Vortex, the hand pointing at Pender giving off an ominous hum of energy.

Evas going to use her Power Blast _: 1D20+10 = [16]+10 = 26 should hit for a DC 25 and 4 ranks of knockback extra

Vanguard (Rex Mundi)
Status: Injured 1 HP:2

"Alrighty, tracking the air elemental," He glanced over at Ignatius, "Back in a bit. Seriously though, nice digs!"

He moves off in the direction the air elemental had gone, hoping to pick up it's ambient magical signature, "Ready to go, Spectre?"

Vortex & Vindicator:

Vindicator's blast of plasma screams across the room, hitting Pender right in the chest but his magical field absorbs the majority of the attack. Though at this point the accumulation of attacks are starting to show on the mage as his breathing is much harder and has a pained sound to it.

Despite that Pender does manage grunt out a simple order to his summoned lizard warriors. "Get them!"

Which they do with an zeal as they draw great clubs and change the two of you in mass.

OOC:
Yep, that hits.

Pender's Toughness (vs DC 25): _: 1D20+8 = [4]+8 = 12....seriously I think CC really hates Pender because I don't want him to get beaten so quickly/easily. Take an HP for the Fiating for a re-roll.
Pender's Re-rolled Toughness (vs DC 25): _: 1D20+8 = [16]+8 = 24 and that'll be 4 Bruises for him.

Pender's minions will attack both Vindicator & Vortex.

Group #1 (attacking Vindicator): _: 1D20+4 = [18]+4 = 22, so if that hits that'll be a Toughness DC 23.

Group #2 (attacking Vortex): _: 1D20+4 = [19]+4 = 23, so if that hits that'll be a Toughness DC 23.

--
After that it's Vortex's turn.

Vindicator
HP: 4; Condition: Ouch (bruised x1)

Eva was nearly swept under when the lizards jumped on her and started raining fearsome blows on her. Still her shield held up to the worst of it leaving her just a little scuffed rather then beaten and battered as Pender no doubt desired.

Evas toughness save _: 1D20+10 = [10]+10 = 20 that's a bruise

Vortex blew the lizards back with a well-timed gust, then poured the force on to keep it up.

Darklight, Jonathan Spectre & Vanguard:

The three heroes move to track the missing air elemental which is not surprisingly hard to track given its incorporeal nature, and it's only thanks to Vanguard's efforts that they are able to do so. The elementally empowered hero leads the others quickly through the underground tunnels and back above ground where they find a slew of people running away from something.

Going against the flow of the people the three of you find the source of the scare - the air elemental heading down the middle of the street. While not out right hostile towards anyone, as the elemental isn't lashing out at anyone as it basically ignores all the people running away from it, the creature doesn't hesitate to use its abilities to remove obstacles in its path as a "hallway" of overturned vehicles follows after it.

OOC:
Vanguard's check is good enough, so now what?

After a few moments of silence the magma elemental speaks. "I could dry your clothing if you wanted." It offers quietly.

Vanguard (Rex Mundi)
Status: Injured 1 HP:2

"Ooookay," Vanguard looks at the tiped over cars, "Good news is that it doesn't seem intentionally hostile, bad news is it's still doing a lot of damage anyways."

"Don't think talking is an option, based on their reaction last time,"
He looks over at Spectre, "I think we should try to avoid a fight out in the open if we could. Do you think you can stop it without it causing a ruckuss?"

Darklight

Ryan moves ahead of the creature in shadow form to make sure it doesn't get past them.
