INQUISITOR (Victoria Riese)
1 :HP ο COND: Healthy
Try as she might, Victoria couldn't muster the mental energy to do much more than understand the doctor's words, much less the physical energy to do more than shift slightly in place. Realizing the best thing she could do right was rest and recover her strength, Victoria managed a weak nod and stopped trying to move.

Re: [IC] To Live ... [1]: The Sun, The Rain, And The Appleseed
All:
After the doctor leaves your room, the nurses linger a few moments longer before moving on as well, leaving each of you alone with your thoughts. There are no clocks on the walls of your rooms, so it is hard to tell the passage of time ... but you think that it's about ten to fifteen minutes before things start to move.
Literally, things start to move. First, the soft surface of the bed shifts beneath you, wrapping up around your body and becoming a warm gown that comes down to just below your ankles. Then the bed itself pulls away from the wall and silently glides out the door and into the hallway beyond. You notice that there are beds just like yours moving through the hallways ahead of your own, and it stands to reason that there are those behind you.
You are carried through the hospital hallways, passing by people in scrubs who are speaking to each other in the same language as the nurses. You also pass by rows of unfamiliar flowers, and underneath a glass ceiling that shows a beautiful clear blue sky.
Eventually, the caravan of beds passes through another doorway, and they all come to a stop in a room shaped a bit like a lecture hall, with a table down in the center, and a screen on the back wall. The beds position themselves evenly across the spaces where there would normally be chairs for the students to sit in, allowing all of you to get a good look at each other for the first time.

The beds position themselves evenly across the spaces where there would normally be chairs for the students to sit in, allowing all of you to get a good look at each other for the first time.
In addition to those holding the four of you, there are two other beds in the room. A tall blond man, wearing the same gown as the rest of you, is lying in one of them -- correction, he's sat up, stretched a bit, and then swung his legs off the side -- not standing yet, but ready to jump out of bed at a moment's notice. "And a lovely morning it is!" he declares in a Jersey accent. "Jack Rocket," he adds, by way of introduction, with a big grin. "Nice to meet the lot of you!"Freebird, Peacekeeper: Both of you find the other's facial features to be somewhat familiar, but you can't place them just yet.
The final bed is occupied by an androgynous person of apparent middle age, with long, shoulder-length brown hair (mixed with some gray) who glances at Jack Rocket as he sits up, before returning their gaze to the ceiling of the lecture hall.Freebird, Peacekeeper: You've heard of a Jack Rocket, descendant of Johnny and Jonni Rocket. In your time, he was a speedster member of the Freedom Group, the superhuman protectors of Freedom City. They were viewed as enemies of both the Authority (because they fought to protect Freedom City from the Authority's rule) and the Resistance (because they did nothing to help overthrow the Authority).
Binary: You know what those two know, as well as knowing that Jack Rocket was killed a year before your last memories, murdered by a group of his enemies on the day before his wedding.
Inquisitor: Jack who? Doesn't ring a bell.

BINARY
Didn't he die? Jacen thinks.
"Jack Rocket, you say?" Binary says. "I've heard of you. How were things in Freedom City before you got hurt?" She struggles to sit up, not very successfully. "I go by the handle Binary when I'm not weak as a kitten."
Yep. Jaina thinks back. I want to know if he knows something we don't.

His grin goes a bit wry. "Well, I thought they were getting better, but I guess I wouldn't be in a hospital if they were. Binary ... the one from the Netherlands? I think I've heard about you, too." He slides out of bed, his bare feet against the floor. His legs waver as he starts to put his weight on them, and he shakes his head before pushing himself back into a seated position. "Not all there yet," he half-mutters.jmucchiello wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 7:09 pm "Jack Rocket, you say?" Binary says. "I've heard of you. How were things in Freedom City before you got hurt?" Binary: Your call whether he's got that right or is thinking of someone else.

The autonomously mobile bed and auto-dressing feature astonished Marcus. He hadn't even heard of this technology existing anywhere and he would have noted any tech that made it so he didn't have to dress himself every single day and the gowns were not much different than the fuzzy bathrobes he'd cycle through when it was just him in the labs.
The hot brunette's face tickled at the back of his mind and set his Eidetic Memory on task to find her.

"Jack Rocket?! I'm a big fan! Love what you guys do in Freedom City. I'm sure we all wish that for everywhere. I'm Marcus. And... Binary, was it? That's a Cape Name if I ever heard one. Are all of you capes?" He looks to the two women who haven't spoken and the other silent figure in the room. Was Peacekeeper in propaganda vids for the Authority?
There would be likely be partial photos of Marcus in any 'prominent Rebels' dossiers.

BINARY
"No, I worked out of Emerald City." Binary turned to Marcus. "Well, I never wore a cape. But I suppose you could call me a cape. Though I usually wore a mask. This is uncomfortable."
TMI, sis.

"Geh, sorry. Too many names the same these days," Jack says, visibly flinching, but back to smiling in a moment.
Regardless, she's not made up at the moment as she would be in any of them.
While Jack grins in acceptance of your fandom, the silent figure speaks quietly, in a voice that isn't distinctly male or female. "I think they call my sort trenchcoats, actually."Flynnarrel wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 9:01 pm"Jack Rocket?! I'm a big fan! Love what you guys do in Freedom City. Trenchcoat: Slang term for covert super-powered individual, often implying a mystical background.

"A trenchcoat.... cool! What can we call you?" He asks the androgynous figure.
Marcus turns his head to Binary. It's an obvious effort. "Masks count for a Cape. Really, so few Supers could pull off a good, actual, cape. And they were even liabities for some - impractical in a fight. Honestly, the last guy I saw to ever pull off a flattering cape was Elton John." He nods sagely.
He glances at the beds and down at his gown. "I don't think we're in Emerald City, or Freedom City for that matter."

"Cool." he says in the manner of someone who says that a lot.
One finger twitches in the vague direction toward himself. "Marcus Siemmens."

Freebird.
Marcus winces.
There's a hesitation before he nods. No trace of pride colors his features. "Yeah... I guess."
"I'd rather be known for my designs of a new beat board controller with integrated amp and 15-track overlays, or even my awesome guitar riffs but 'The Man' shut down free expression of music several years back." A twitch of his shoulders is all he can manage of a what-are-you-gonna-do shrug.
"And who might you be? I'm guessing NOT a back up dancer in that one Greta Van Fleet video, like I was originally thinking." He asks.

Genevieve avoids his gaze. "Well, Marcus, I guess you'd call me The Man. I liked to think of it as peacekeeping, but... yeah. Not so much." She's quiet for a moment. Then she looks at Jack. "I don't suppose the Freedom Group is coming to rescue you?"Flynnarrel wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 11:32 pm Freebird.

Marcus is suddenly alarmed. "Wait! What?! Rescue? Are we being held captive?"
He looks suspiciously at the self-identified opponent to the fundamental tenets of rock and roll.

"I don't know, yet. But I think we're a long way from Ohio." She looks around. "Do any of you recognize that language they were speaking? Because I sure don't. I don't know any hospitals that use... hoverbeds, either."
Genevieve's eyes don't linger on the blonde woman who hasn't said anything yet, but she does pay special attention to her body language. An Authority mouthpiece, a rebel inventor, two capes--one out of Freedom City, one out of Emerald City, a "trenchcoat," and... one person Genevieve doesn't know anything about, yet.
