No disarm? Kinda sucks, I just thought I couldn't find it in the book. I'll adjust my post after work.Arkrite wrote: ↑Wed Feb 27, 2019 3:47 am As per TM's question:
There really isn't a disarm option in the PHB for 5e, short of an ability one of the fighter paths get.
But if it helps, 5e can be significantly less lethal than previous versions with minimal effort:
PHB 198 - When an attacker reduces a creature to 0 hit points with a melee attack, the attacker can knock the creature out. The attacker can make this choice the instant the damage is dealt. The creature falls unconscious and is stable.
That said it does make things a little more difficult for magic and ranged users, doesn't it?

LOl- "The Tattooed Man"? What kind of ABSOLUTE DILDO would refer to himself as "The Tattooed Man" !?!
Re: OOC: Against the Cult of the Reptile God - D&D 5E - Recruiting Closed
According to a quick Google search, there's a suggestion in the DMG about making a an attack roll opposed by the target's Athletics or Acrobatics check

That's something I heard done on a D&D podcast.

Wow. Okay, extra damage taken into account.
And the GM is learning how deadly this team can be ;~)
Just to confirm, Flynn, your turn is just casting the spell?

Now that you ask... Cast and then, I guess, move to DL-164 to be able to see what's in the anvil area.
The blacksmith has moved to the party, right?

Yes there is an option in the DMG for disarming. Page 271.
-------------Disarm
A creature can use a weapon attack to knock a weapon or another item from a target's grasp. The attacker makes an attack roll contested by the target's Strength (Athletics) check or Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. If the attacker wins the contest, the attack causes no damage or other ill effect, but the defender drops the item.
The attacker has disadvantage on its attack roll if the target is holding the item with two or more hands. The target has advantage on its ability check if it is larger than the attacking creature, or disadvantage if it is smaller.
On a totally different note since Georgia's turn is coming up soon... I can pretty much end this encounter in a rather anti-climactic manner with one spell.
On the one hand it would make sense in character since it takes the berserk blacksmith down without harming them. On the other hand this is our first combat so if you guys would rather beat on him until he gives up or gets knocked out, we can do that.

No by all means, stop him before we kill him. One NPC blacksmith doesn't qualify as a real combat

Yeah, I'm just using the options Zasio has available to him. So if you want to use magic to end the fight, by all means feel free.

Seems like a waste to me even if he bops a few of us we got plenty of hp, but few spells. It might be a long day
But it's you call.

It's your call, but I agree, not many non-cantrip spells at our level and we don't know what we'll get up to before a long rest.
