-Of COURSE one of Capcom's only Canadian characters would be a man named Abigail. RACISTS.

-Abigail is the second-last Boss you meet in the original Final Fight- he has a dreaded BLUE Health Bar (meaning it was much larger than a normal bar, having to go through several different colors before you could reduce it to yellow, which was the last one), and is a color swap of the Andore characters, but decked out like a black-ish guy in a polka-dotted outfit, and the head of Road Warrior Animal. He's the strongest of the enemies you'll fight, but had never reappeared- the Andores are much more legendary in the fandom, and grab the imagination much more than this guy or the main boss Belger- a reflection of how Abobo dominates the Double Dragon series.

-Abigail was thus a MAJOR surprise entrant in the second season of Street Fighter V- merely a forgotten Boss by this point, he leaped over Poison, Haggar and other worthy contenders to become the single largest character in SF history- he's so freakin' gigantic that he CROUCHES at the same height as Zangief! Registering at eight feel tall, he appears like a pale white dude with his hair cut in the shape of a Canadian maple leaf, arms at least twice the size of Zangief's legs, and a teeny-tiny little head that renders him cartoonish and silly. A lot of fans were NOT impressed by this guy's sudden addition, though at least he adds another Powerhouse to the game- Fighting Games are notorious for only having a couple Mighty Glaciers in each generation, so adding another isn't a bad move.

-Abigail is PL 9 like the other Elite Bosses, but with semi-poor defenses (he needs Defensive Roll, and he's still PL 8.5 to parry), a low Will Save, and a simplistic fighting style. His level contains numerous "Clones"- you end up fighting armies of All Fat Guys, All Chicks, and All Fatigues Guys a lot.

Fighting Style: His Street Fighter incarnation packs the greatest hitting power in the series (Damage NINE on his Special Moves!), with a pretty simple array of damaging attacks (Multiattack, Power Punch and a Grab & Punch move). Curiously, unlike all of the other Powerhouses, he is NOT a grappler- his grabs are there to set up his long-range strikes.

I didn't know Abigail before SFV. As soon as my boys saw him, they insisted I earn him ASAP. So I did. I hate the character. I found his story stupid not funny, and he totally steals Zangief's thunder as "big guy."

It's like Sabin or whatever from Final Fantasy III/VI was all "Bro, I once suplexed a TRAIN- beat that!" And Haggar's just like "... Hold my beer."
*sniffs* that's awesome, man.

Ares wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2017 5:18 am What Sitterson did was have Quick Kick challenge Snake-Eyes to a fight, solely because QK wanted everyone to know he was the best martial artist in the world. And the entire issue is QK talking about how good he is, how SE let himself get soft because he was so use to being the best, essentially tearing down SE in order to build up QK as the best martial artist. We even get stupid things like Snake-Eyes pulling a knife during an unarmed sparring matching, Quick Kick having secretly worn an 80 pound training vest during the first half of the fight (like he was in frickin Dragon Ball Z or Naruto), and basically ends with Snake-Eyes on his knees surrendering to Quick Kick. Sitterson is having Quick Kick announce to the reader every reason why Snake-Eyes isn't as cool as they think he is, and why Quick Kick is better.
So, the guy who's a remarkably stand up guy and seems to be very humble... pulled a knife in a friendly unarmed fighting contest?
Yeah, that sounds more like an attempt at character assassination than anything.

Of course it's really easy fro anybody to retcon that out of existence. I mean, all we know for sure was that it was a guy wearing a mask ;~)
... Not to mention that we've already seen SnakeEyes will throw a match if he thinks it'll be beneficial.
Such as that time Scarlett decided to use him as an example while training new recruits, hoping to show that a smaller opponent could still take down a much larger one. He put the student's long term safety and Scarlett's reputation with them as an instructor over his own pride and took the loss like a champ.

And yeah, wearing an 80 pound vest in a fist fight sounds really silly for two reasons. One, wouldn't that be considered body armor? Isn't that cheating?
And two, uh... if your opponents is anywhere near as good as you are, and you're packing 80 additional pounds of dead weight you're going to be moving slower, and you're going to run out of stamina a lot faster... Yeah, it might help with training, but you don't bring that stuff into a fight.

*sigh* This is the problem with having Goku as your hero. Everybody forgets the guy is a little insane ;~)

The better way to show your character is better than another heroic character? Have them both fight an opponent. Have the first one go down as an all out slobberknocker with no real winner.
Bring in the "better" fighter for the second match vs this opponent and have him get a decisive victory.

Seems easier than asking a fan favorite character to hold the idiot ball for awhile.

That`s laughable. .31 meters is 31 cm. In Imperial, that`s a foot. 12 inches.
There is no way those pics are only a foot difference in height.

I get it, make him look impressive and all, but I agree that`s a niche stealing character and not much more.

T.Hawk was already a "bigger Zangief" and is more or less a giant failed character. I imagine fans are going to hate Abigail for his goofy name, look and concept, and he'll join the reject pile, too.

Stats in Final Fight:
Health Bars:

Mid-Bar: Jake (blue pants & jacket), Holly Wood (fatigues), G. Oriber (fat, white shirt), Two.P (like J, but orange), Slash (Axl in brown), Roxy
Full Bar: Bill Bull (fat, overalls, beard), Poison, Holly Wood (later on), Andore Jr. (red). El Gado (H.Wood in green/yellow), Simons (yellow Jake), Two. P (later on), Wong Who (asian fat guy)
Green: Andore (pink), El Gado (later on), Andore Jr (later), G. Andore (blue), F. Andore (yellow), Wong Who (later)

PL 3: Bred, Dug, J
PL 4: Jake, Two P (early), Axl, G. Orbiter, Roxy
PL 5: Two P (later), Slash, Holly Wood (early)
PL 6: Simons, El Gado, Holly Wood (later), Bill Bull, Wong Who, Poison (FF)
PL 7: El Gado (later), Wong Who (later), Andore Jr.
PL 8: Sodom, Damnd, Edi. E, Maki, Andore Family, Poison (SF IV)
PL 9: Belger, Cody Travers, Rolento, Mike Haggar, Abigail
PL 10: Guy, Hugo

An interesting thing happens if I look at the stats (primarily Accuracy vs. Defense) I gave for the guys here:
* Cody & Haggar's Parry Saves are DC 22; Guy's is normally DC 25, but for the sake of things here I'll leave him at PL 9, which he was probably at during Final Fight, so he can be a DC 24. Maki's is DC 23; Carlos's is DC 22. Dean's is DC 21; Lucia's is DC 23.

Bred, Dug, J, Axl (+4 to hit): They need an "18" to hit Cody & Haggar, and a "20" to hit Guy. They'd need a "19" to hit Maki. In short, they're terrible and will almost always miss... except they can outflank with numbers and score a lucky shot or two. And maybe use Accurate Attack for a better shot- even +0 damage could hurt someone with normal human durability just through attrition.
G. Oriber (+5 to hit): He needs a "17" to hit Cody & Haggar, and a "19" to hit Guy. Also fat & slow, but tends to use All-Out Attack.
Two-P, Jake, Slash, Holly Wood, Roxy (+6 to hit): Getting better- a "16", or a 25% chance to hit Cody & Haggar. Guy can still deftly dodge, as these guys need a "18" at least to hit him.
later Two-P (+7 to hit): A "15" hits Cody & Haggar; a "17" hits Guy.
Simons, later H.Wood, El Gado, Bull & Wong, Andore Jr. (+8 to hit): A "14" now hits Cody & Haggar, which is a much better chance. A "16" is still needed for Guy. More than possible, however- and their attrition can easily wear down his smaller Toughness Save.
Andores (+9 to hit): The big Andores have great reach that can make up for their perceived bulk- they need only a "13" to hit Cody & Haggar, and a "15" to hit Guy.
Poison (+10 to hit): The quick Poison (Final Fight era) can hit Cody & Haggar on a "12", and Guy on a "14"- she's not strong, but is much more accurate.
Damnd, Edi. E, Abigail, FF 2 Bosses (+11 to hit): The Bosses are all quite accurate, and only need an "11" to hit Cody & Haggar, with a "13" for Guy. Given that they're all incredibly-strong, this is pretty good.
Sodom, Hugo (+12 to hit): Once we reach the guys who hit the "World Warriors" stage, things shift and are much more equal. Sodom & Hugo only need "10"s to hit Cody & Haggar, and a "12" will hit the lighter Guy.
Rolento, Poison (+13 to hit): Rolento & Poison (SF era) will actually hit the slower Cody & Haggar more often than not, needing only "9". An "11" will do for Guy, who is now facing some real punishment.
Belger (+13 to hit): Belger forgoes melee combat for a +13 shot with his Crossbow- the Save DCs for this as DC 20 (Haggar), DC 22 (Cody) and DC 24 (Guy)- MUCH better odds. He needs a "7" for Haggar, a "9" for Cody, and only an "11" for Guy. They're all much more trained to go against melee fighters than a guy wielding a ranged weapon, and so are in real trouble.

* When we come to accuracy, we realize just how screwed most Mad Gear Gang members are on a one-to-one basis. Naturally, they make up for it with numbers, and the heroes need to use Takedown attacks to bring groups of them down. A really mean GM can give the gangsters REAL status instead of just making them Mooks, too- something that would probably work well for the Andores and possibly Simsons & El Gado.
Cody (+14 to hit): Cody can hit Bred, Dug, J & Axl on anything but a "1" if you're allowing "1 Always Fails". A "2" hits Jake, Two-P, Slash, Holly Wood, Oriber & Roxy. A "3" hits Andore Jr.. A "4" hits Simons, Gado, Bull & Wong Who. A "5" hits Poison. A "6" hits later Gado, Hugo & Abigail. A "7" hits Sodom, Damnd, Edi & the FF 2 Bosses. Belger will be hit on an "8". Rolento & SF-era Poison will require only "9". Cody is more accurate than Haggar, but less so than Guy- he will still tag every one of his enemies on even an average roll.
Guy (+16 to hit): Guy is the best overall fighter, but lacks as much hitting power. He can hit Bred, Dug, J & Axl on anything but a "1" if you're allowing "1 Always Fails". The same actually goes for Jake, Two-P, Slash, Holly Wood, Oriber & Roxy. A "1" would even hit Andore Jr. if you allowed it! A "2" hits Simons, Gado, Bull & Wong Who. A "3" hits Poison. A "4" hits later Gado, Hugo & Abigail. A "5" hits Sodom, Damnd, Edi & the FF 2 Bosses (his hit chance is therefore 75% on even the Bosses). Belger will be hit on a "6". Rolento & SF-era Poison will require only "7". As the fastest fighter in the franchise, he can tag almost anyone on even a BAD roll, and only an exceptionally-gifted fighter will not be hit.
Haggar (+12 to hit): Haggar needs only a "2" to hit Bred, Dug, J & Axl. A "4" hits Jake, Two-P, Slash, Holly Wood, Oriber & Roxy. A "5" hits Andore Jr.. A "6" hits Simons, Gado, Bull & Wong Who. A "7" hits Poison. An "8" hits later Gado, Hugo & Abigail. A "9" hits Sodom, Damnd, Edi & the FF 2 Bosses. Belger will be hit on an even "10". Rolento & SF-era Poison will require an "11". So oddly, because of the way M&M stats out martial artists, even Big Slow Haggar actually has a better chance than not of tagging almost any character in the game.
Maki & Carlos (+13 to hit): Both are just a bit worse than Cody (Cody's moved on to SF- they've disappeared)- drop all the hit chances by "1" each.
Dean (+12 to hit): As Haggar.
Lucia (+14 to hit): As Cody.

* Actually HURTING your opponents isn't actually that hard, given the power of these guys. Things get a bit tricky at this level, as the playing field is MUCH more level. Everyone is only human, after all. You'll also note some guys having things shifted a bit from the game, as you can't really pull off guys like Damnd & Sodom having GREEN Health Bars, and thus much more health than the main characters. If you wanted total game accuracy, you'd need to make the heroes far more accurate than everyone, but with less toughness than some of the MOOKS, much less the Bosses.

Damage DCs of the characters' attacks:
Bred, Dug, J, Jake, Two-P, Axl, Roxy (DC 17):
Simons, Slash, Holly Wood w/ Knife, El Gado, G. Oriber, Guy, Maki's Tonfas, Poison's Riding Crop (DC 18):
Bill Bull, Wong Who, Sodom's Jitte (DC 19):
Sodom's Katana, Damnd, Edi. E, Belger, Cody's Knife, Rolento's Staff, FF 2 Bosses (DC 20):
Haggar, Andore Family (DC 21):
Hugo, Abigail (DC 22):

THEREFORE:

Bred, Dug, J, Jake, Two-P, Holly Wood, G. Oriber, Roxy (Toughness +2): These bottom-tier Mooks will suffer damage on anything less than a "16" from Guy or Maki, "17" from Cody, or "19" from Haggar. Even without the Minion rules, they'd be out with a "4" or less against Haggar- almost a 25% chance.
Simons, later Two-P, Axl, Slash, Poison (Toughness +3): The upgraded Mooks will suffer damage on anything less than a "15" from Guy or Maki, "16" from Cody, and "18" from Haggar.
later Holly Wood, El Gado, Bill Bull, Wong Who (Toughness +4): Elite Mooks will suffer damage if they roll under "14" against Guy or Maki, "15" against Cody, and "17" against Haggar. If they roll under a "2", it's instant lights out against Haggar, too.
later Wong Who, Sodom, Damnd, Edi E., Belger, Rolento, Andore Jr., FF 2 Bosses (Toughness +5): These are high-level guys, either very tough or very adept at avoiding punishment (Rolento). They can take the heat- they'll only be damaged if they roll under "13" against Guy or Maki, "12" against Cody, or "14" against Haggar. Human-level stats are a bitch in this system.
Andores (Toughness +6): The stronger members of the Andore Family are insanely-tough, but a bit on the slow side- they'll take damage if they roll under a "12" against Guy or Maki, "13" against Cody, or "15" against Haggar. Even Haggar can't knock them out in one shot... unless he Power Attacks (which is not a bad idea against an Andore).
Abigail (Toughness +7): The Second-Last Boss Abigail takes damage against Guy & Maki if he rolls under an "11", "12" under Cody, and "14" under Haggar.
Hugo (Toughness +8): The enormous Hugo is the toughest Street Fighter of them all (short of the Bosses)- he will only take damage if he rolls under a "10" against Guy or Maki, an "11" against Cody, and a "13" against Haggar. So against the weakest members of the team, he has a 50% chance of taking no damage whatsoever from their shots. Granted, Guy can hit Hugo on a *4* or better, but still.

THE HEROES:
Guy in Final Fight, Maki (Toughness +3): The weaker members of the party are really hard to hit (see above), but their Toughness isn't the greatest. Guy needs a "14" or better to save against damage from even the weakest Mad Gear members (DC 17 unarmed). "15" against the next-highest, "16" against the fat guys and Sodom's weakest weapon, "17" against most of the Bosses, and "18" against the Andore Family. Hugo can hurt him unless he rolls either a "19" or a "20"- he's hard to hit, but STILL. Guy can even be One-Hit-KO'd if he rolls under a "4"!
Guy in Street Fighter (Toughness +4): Guy in the setting of the World Warriors is one notch better, but still endangered if he's hit. Given that the chances of being hit when you're on a tear against dozens of Mooks, often 4-7 at a time, that's not the best.
Cody (Toughness +5): The tougher, fightier Cody is harder to hurt than Guy by a ways (especially in the first game). He needs a "12" or better to save against the lowest-tier Mad Gear members, "13" against the next, "14" against the fatties, "15" against the Bosses, and "16" against the Andore Family. Hugo can hurt him if he rolls below a "17", and still has a shot at a One-Hit-KO. Given that Hugo can hit Cody on an average roll, that's a bit scary.
Haggar (Toughness +6): The toughest guy of the lot is the Mayor of Metro City, who only needs to roll a bit above-average (an "11") to save against the lowest-tier Mad Gear members. He needs "12" against the next, "13" against the fatties, "14" against the Bosses, and "15" against the Andores (a 25% chance to avoid damage if even an Andre the Giant homage is hitting you isn't bad). Against Hugo, he could actually avoid all damage with a "16", but it's still an uphill battle against the true Giant.

Defenses:
Dodge +11 (DC 21), Parry +12 (DC 22), Toughness +4 (+5 D.Roll), Fortitude +5, Will +4

Complications:
Responsibility (Super-Aging)- Ed is aging from a small teen into a young adult very quickly. He is less mature than he seems.
Relationship (Balrog)- The boxer trained Ed, and the two were long-time companions who still share some affection, though Ed denies it and breaks off on his own.
Responsibility (Vessel For M. Bison)- Like many fighters, Ed was meant to be a possible vessel for the soul of Bison- he rejects this destiny.
Weakness (Predictability)- Ed, like all Street Fighters, cannot simply "spam" out the same attack over and over again, as the opponent will expect the attacks, and be ready for them (and a counterattack). The third time he tries the same technique (or same combo of techniques) in a short span, he will be at -2 to Accuracy, AND to his Active Defenses in that round. All will decrease by 2 every successive round the same move is done.

Total: Abilities: 52 / Skills: 36--18 / Advantages: 8 + 14 / Powers: 13 / Defenses: 11 (116)

-Ed is a curious addition to Street Fighter V, having appeared as a backgrounder in the previous game. He's a protege of Balrog who wields the same Psycho Power as M. Bison, and is meant to be a potential body for the latter. A cocky, flashy fighter, he looks a bit weird given that he's just wearing the Shadaloo uniform with an endless number of flaps hanging off of it, but having another cocky villain around isn't a bad thing. He & Balrog actually get into a kind of sweet Teacher/Pupil thing, as Balrog praises Ed's skills during training, and expresses genuine sorrow when Ed, fearful of the spirit of Bison (who dies in the story), goes off on his own. He eventually resurfaces, leading Neo Shadaloo.

-Fighting Style: Ed fights using "Psycho Boxing", which involves a deal of kicking as well- more like MMA-style kickboxing. His special moves are done differently from most other fighters, involving not directional commands or holding buttons down, but pressing multiple buttons simultaneously- all of his moves are done this way, unlike other fighters, who might only use a few. As a newbie character with minimal training, he's PL 8.5, but his varied, accurate moveset (a Burning Knuckle knock-off, rising kick, Blast, Multiattack and even a Multiattack BLAST as a Super Move) and potential are there to make him much stronger in a later game.

And on a less FEELZ-inspiring note, what anthology of wrestling would be complete without me re-listing Bobby Heena's greatest quotes? Heenan is easily the funniest of anyone in wrestling (though Jesse Ventura got a pretty good one in at the '90 Royal Rumble when the crowd started throwing homophobic slurs at The Genius as he was wrestling Beefcake, and Jesse quipped "EXCELLENT show of support for the San Francisco crowd to hometown hero Brutus Beefcake!"). Heenan's absolute pathological love for the heels, and his blatant bias as a "Broadcast Journalist", made him a hoot to listen to.

Bobby: I never thought I'd say this, but thank you, Roddy. It's a kilt. It's not a skirt, it's a kilt.
(Not long after, Piper attacks Flair)
Bobby: You no-good creep! You skirt-wearing freak! It's not a kilt, it's a skirt!

Or when Heenan literally started bargaining with Jesus to let Flair win "I promise- I'll be a better person!"

---
Brain: (on w:Real American, w:Hulk Hogan's theme music) "That's my second favorite song."
Gorilla: "I'm almost afraid to ask...what's your favorite?"
Brain: "All the rest are tied."
---
Gorilla is talking about the last match, and Bobby is on the banana phone with someone, trying to get advance tickets to Wrestlemania VII, and one listens carefully and hears, in rapid succession:
"That's right, tickets are going on sale" "Well don't get smart with me, I'll slap you in the mouth" "Do you want me to knock ya down?" and as they pan off to an ad, "I'll talk to you later mom"
---
(Bobby on the WWF's 1-900 number)
Gorilla: Kids, ask your parent's permission before calling.
Brain: "And if they don't give you permission, just take a baseball bat, sneak up behind them, and BAM!!"
---
Gorilla: What would you do if you were the Hitman (in a title match)
Brain: Well, I'd have my agent buy it for me and if that didn't work I'd take him out back and waffle him with a tire iron.
---
Gorilla: "That was an illegal move!"
Brain: "No it wasn't."
Gorilla: "Yes it was!"
Brain: "No, it was a legal move, it was a Greco-Roman Hair Pull."
---
(Wrestlemania IX)
Ross: Hogan's giving the money away!
Bobby: Hold my headset! I'm gonna go get some cash!
---
(Referring to Sherri)
Brain: That's my pin-up girl!
Gorilla: I think you should see your occulist.
Brain: There's nothing wrong with my feet!
---
[When Roddy faced Bret for the IC title...after Piper showed some professional courtesy for Bret]
"You know that show of sportsmanship....the respect for each other, the enthusiasm they have....makes me sick!"
---
Gorilla: (referring to a woman's sign in the crowd) Natural Disasters Rule. How about that?
Bobby: If she'd been at home doing the dishes she wouldn't have time to make stupid cards like that. Bimbo.
---
Bobby: (on the foam fingers in the audience) I remember when I used to walk to the ring, McMahon, and people used to hold up one finger.
Vince: That was a different kind of salute.
---
Bobby: Now, wouldn't you classify 20 members of the Hart family living together as a ghetto?
---
(At Havoc 94 Flair walks by Bischoff and Brain was holding up 4 fingers. Hogan walks by after Flair has entered the cage.)
Bischoff: When Flair walked by he held up 4 fingers. That was the sign of the 4 Horsemen.
Brain: When Hogan walked by I held up one finger.
---
Brain: Once you wrestle Rikki Atakki (a Japanese jobber), an hour later you want to wrestle him again.
---
Brain: You know what they call a woman with 2 million dollars?
Schivone: What?
Brain: Divorced.
---
(about Mexican wrestler Tito Santana) "Do you know what 'Arriba' means? It means 'Swim faster, the border guards are behind us".
---
Gorilla: "This place is going crazy! Look at the Hulkster pointing to all of his hulkamaniacs!
Heenan: "He's not pointing to anybody, he's showing off how high he can count!"
---
"I'll say this about Kerry Von Erich. He's the only man I know who can hide his own Easter Eggs."
---
Bobby: "I once knew a couple of Siamese twins."
Hillbilly Jim: "Really? They were born, uh... together like that"
Bobby: "UUUUHHHH, no, a couple weekends ago they had a soldering gun and nothing better to do. DDUUUUUUHHHH YEAH, they were BORN like that!"
I just found out about this last night. Very sad. He was the greatest announcer ever. Thanks for the quotes.

Complications:
Responsibility (The Illuminati)- Kolin is devoted to the Illuminati, despises soldiers, and seeks to end all war. She has seen her homeland in Eastern Europe fall as the result of one.
Relationship (Gill)- Kolin worships Gill, and believes him to be the messiah.
Weakness (Predictability)- Kolin, like all Street Fighters, cannot simply "spam" out the same attack over and over again, as the opponent will expect the attacks, and be ready for them (and a counterattack). The third time she tries the same technique (or same combo of techniques) in a short span, she will be at -2 to Accuracy, AND to his Active Defenses in that round. All will decrease by 2 every successive round the same move is done.

Total: Abilities: 72 / Skills: 48--24 / Advantages: 8 + 14 / Powers: 11 / Defenses: 9 (138)

-Another surprising entrant into Street Fighter V is Kolin- Gill's secretary from Street Fighter III, now upgraded to a martial artist! And she's got ICE POWERS! A truly unique power-set in the SF-verse, where it's previously just been a descriptor of some of Gill's attacks. In the fifth game, she gains a new set of personalities- she's kind-hearted and maternal to heroic characters in one form, but in the other, she's a zealous, cruel, vindictive woman- her true personality. She resurrects Charlie Nash in order to fulfill an ancient prophecy, but it turns out to have been about Ryu, because of course it is.

-Her name is spelled "Kolin", but pronounced more like "Colleen", but with the Japanese "R/L" thing. "Kori" is Japanese for "ice", while "Korin" is a Russian surname, so it's ambiguous. I kinda dig her giant, bouncy haircut and Russian military uniform- given how skanked-out the Street Fighter costumes have become, her Wintry Military Russian Chick gear actually kinda makes her stand out. I'd say she looks modest, except she's still got the "short skirt/long boots" sextastic thing going :). And of course fans are now comparing her to Elsa, who now casts a vast, wide shadow over every single ice-powered character in fiction.

-Kolin's fighting style is based around slashing attacks, quick strikes, and feints. She dashes in, throws out quick combos (including a standard "Multiattack" move), then leaps backwards. Other moves are based around counters (some moves require dodging against high, low or standard attacks, but you have to hit the exact right button, making her one of the harder characters to master), while others are based around her "Movement Game", as you can leap out of "dodges" and dash forward with an attack. Some of her V-Triggers and Critical Arts are interesting, creating big Icicle Stabs that might also freeze the opponent temporarily. I statted it up just to see what it'd look like, but it's not more expensive than her other moves, despite having the Linked Powers- Specials are just too rare (usually done with "Tiring", as "Fill the Super-Bar" is otherwise tough to do in M&M) and Inaccurate to be otherwise.

I like Kolin. I think she's an interesting new character, though I find her motivation in SFV a little unclear.

My sons call her Colon, though.

Weakness (Predictability)- Menat, like all Street Fighters, cannot simply "spam" out the same attack over and over again, as the opponent will expect the attacks, and be ready for them (and a counterattack). The third time she tries the same technique (or same combo of techniques) in a short span, she will be at -2 to Accuracy, AND to his Active Defenses in that round. -The latest Street Fighter V character is Menat, an Egyptian fortune teller with a decently-solid, if a bit plain, look. One of the only females in the game with short hair, too, actually. Her schtick is that she's a Soul Power-wielding student of Rose's. Curiously, she leaps about with a tiny, transparent Energy Ball (called a "Soul Sphere") that she uses to throw out Blasts and Scorpion-style "Get Over Here!" ranged grabs. Most of her story interactions are with Ed, warning him that he may share Bison's fate if he continues down his dark path. As she's so new, and tends to only get involved with one other character, info on her is a bit light. She's less grabby than Kolin or other female characters, and seems a bit better at Blasting (she suffers less defensively for attempting it). Her reflective move (a "V-Skill" she can activate whenever) and her general "feel" made me give her equal Dodge to Parry- one of the only Street Fighters with such a distinction.

Yeah... he's pretty dumb. I remember expressing shock that he was in the game (I'm one of a handful that knows of Abigail- and only then because I'd statted Final Fight LAST YEAR), and annoyance that he made the cut (since he's basically a complete goof), while MIKE FRIGGIN' HAGGAR has never been able to appear in a proper Street Fighter game. IT'S HIS TIME, DAMMIT!!!

Though part of me appreciates how outside-the-box Capcom was in throwing in a completely obscure FF baddie, and wonders how they might do if they tried it here and there again. Poison is obviously a natural to continue forward, but what if they tried something with Roxy? Or "III-P", as he goes by today? What if they tried to re-vamp and un-crappy the "Sequel Characters" like Carlos and Lucia? Though SFV's roster is at a bit of a premium (they seem to be going for the "Smaller Roster/More Focused Game" thing, over SFIV's spammed-out roster), I would support them trying some more stuff later.

All in all, I'm a bit undecided on the four "New Challengers". They're better per-capita that the Super Street Fighter II newbies were, I suppose. Abigail I'd consider a failure, but the other three are pretty good. Ed's interesting in how he relates to other characters, and I'm not sure about his look. The other two fit into the overall story as well.

Yeah, I don't mind seeing new (old) faces. Menat looks cool. But Abigail isn't. Plus, if he was just another Birdie, it would be easier to ignore him, but he totally stole Zangief's place.

I suspect over the next couple years, SFV won't remain small and focused. I think this is the new model for fighting games: produce a system that will last 2 years at least, and then add new characters via DLC rather than release Ultra Mega Awesome Street Fighter V.

So who else could be interesting outside of the box? I'd like to see if they could make the SF 1 characters interesting.

One of the upcoming DLCs for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is Black Widow...but that was also the name of an obscure Saturday Night Slam Masters character also...let's see what Capcom does with that.

I'd love to see Widow with a Saturday Night Slam Masters alternate skin.

Oh yeah, the Alpha series made generic guys like Gen & Adon cool. I'd love to see them try SOMETHING with Mike & Joe. Or even Retsu! Seeing Eagle in full "Freddie Mercury" mode would be a blast, as well.

Saturday Night Slam Masters had some goofs, but Jumbo would be decent (SF is lacking Big Fat Guys). El Stingray is a better luchadore than El Fuerte, and Scorpion was just bad-ass.
