Relationship/Rivalry (Sailor Aluminum Siren)- Lead Crow is next in line, and is openly a rival to Siren in the Anima-Mates. However, she is annoyed to find Siren so casual and flighty about things, and begins helping her out and demanding she improve, stating that it's out of dismay that "my rival is so flighty!". However, it's very clear in the end that Crow deeply cares for her rival, when Galaxia tires of her failures.
Vulnerable (Bracelets Give Life)- As a being whose Star Seed has already been removed, Sailor Lead Crow needs her magical bracelets to live. If Sailor Galaxia removes them (which she may do at-will), Lead Crow will simply fade away.

Total: Abilities: 72 / Skills: 40--20 / Advantages: 10 / Powers: 50 / Defenses: 21 (173)

Sailor Lead Crow- The Beloved Serious One:
-Sailor Lead Crow debuted right alongside Aluminum Siren, and the way they played off of each other swiftly became one of the most popular aspects of Sailor Stars- Siren was a lovable ditz, impeccably polite and always trying to do things nicely and according to Japanese social conventions... while Crow, ostensibly her biggest rival and someone who should be against her doing well, was instead incredibly annoyed and constantly badgering her to do things more quickly and efficiently. Poor, ultra-serious Crow was left exasperated at her "great rival" and instead devoted her time to HELPING HER, ostensibly out of pride at first. See, she was like "I can't believe my biggest rival is such a ditz". So she'd do stuff like find targets or try to hurry Siren along. And then, of course, as Siren starts to do more poorly and REALLY needs help, Crow suddenly breaks the façade and gets ultra-concerned for her, clearly worried. And when Siren finally screws up one too many times and makes a poor excuse to Sailor Galaxia, a horrified Crow is like "OH MY GOD YOU NEED TO APOLOGIZE RIGHT NOW!", but can only watch as her "rival" is executed by their master.

Lead Crow- Mourning Her Friend:
-And then, for the next several episodes, Lead Crow deal with a new rival in Sailor Tin Nyanko... while clearly and openly mourning the woman she realized was her best friend in the world. She tears up, stares longingly at Siren's belongings and journals, and even mimics her "polite Japanese greeting" when attacking the Victims of the Day- it's INCREDIBLY sweet, and something totally unique even for this show. Naturally, fans ship it HARD- the ultra-sweet ditzy blue-haired girl and the ultra-serious, grouchy redhead. Finally, though, Lead Crow tries to unleash a "Black Hole" death weapon to kill Sailor Moon, whose identity she has just discovered... and Tin Nyanko sabotages it, killing her. And a tearful Lead Crow only mutters to herself at how she failed to avenge Siren's death after all, begging forgiveness to her lost friend. And thus she becomes one of the show's most sympathetic villains, despite dressing like an evil stripper and trying to kill innocent people. This show is amazing.

-In the manga, Sailor Lead Crow was never that sympathetic, and had no such relationship with Siren. Instead, she was shown to be a villain from the planet Coronis, same as Sailor Mars's guardians, the crows that b became Sailor Phobos & Deimos. Crow had turned on Sailor Coronis and killed her for Galaxia, leaving the three Sailors the sole survivors of Coronis. Lead Crow appears and KILLS Sailor Phobos & Deimos, but is herself promptly executed by Sailor Moon's Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss.

-Her red coloring is based off of how "lead" and "red" are spoken the same way in Japanese.

Sailor Lead Crow's Powers:
-Sailor Lead Crow is actually by far the most serious fighter of the Sailor Anima-Mates, at one point taking out all four Inner Senshi around Sailor Moon, sending them smashing into brick walls with single swipes from her whip. And they DENT those things, too! This is the only time a villain actually provides a serious challenge to a large group of our heroines- the others just tend to escape of freak out (like Siren did). Otherwise she shoots generic energy.

Dodge +15 (DC 25), Parry +15 (DC 25), Toughness +5, Fortitude +6, Will +8

Complications:
Responsibility (Galaxia's Will)- Sailor Tin Nyanko is the minion of Sailor Galaxia, who does not suffer failure gladly. She must find the special "Star Seed"... or else.
Motivation (Ambition)- Sailor Tin Nyanko's only interest is in furthering who own power- she manipulates things to kill both Sailor Aluminum Siren & Lead Crow.
Vulnerable (Bracelets Give Life)- As a being whose Star Seed has already been removed, Sailor Lead Crow needs her magical bracelets to live. If Sailor Galaxia removes them (which she may do at-will), Tin Nyanko will simply fade away.

Total: Abilities: 72 / Skills: 40--20 / Advantages: 10 / Powers: 53 / Defenses: 21 (176)

-Sailor Tin Nyanko is the final "General" character in Sailor Moon history, and a pretty disliked one, for in-story reasons. See, she's another "Zoisite/Witches 5"- a nasty piece of work who has her predecessors murdered to get ahead. But in this case, it was the BELOVED Sailor Aluminum Siren she killed, and she spent the rest of her time dissing that "loser" to Sailor Lead Crow, who was mourning the loss of her best friend & rival. This nasty bullying made the sinister Nyanko a pretty great bad guy. That she was sneaky, did crazy stuff like shoot LASER BEAMS at the good guys (Sailor Star Fighter once nearly died diving in front of a shot mean for Sailor Moon) and more just added so it. Her look was pretty distinct- an S&M type uniform, but with kitty bells all over it ("Nyan" is the Japanese onomatopoeia for a cat's meow, so she keeps the Sailor Anima-Mates' animal-themed naming).

-Though she appears alot in shared episodes with Lead Crow, Nyanko isn't the sole villain for long- once Crow dies in a black hole created by Nyanko, the villainess doesn't last. When one of her Bracelets is shattered, her costume shockingly turns half-white- the revelation is that the Sailor Anima-Mates were once GOOD Sailors, but were twisted by Galaxia. In a subsequent battle, she argues with herself, flashing between good and evil frequently, until she is disposed of by her boss, who simply decides she doesn't need minions any longer. Sailor Galaxia removes her remaining Bracelet, and Tin Nyanko dies screaming like Siren & Mouse did.

-In the manga, Sailor Tin Nyanko is another one-off bad guy- she joins Usagi's High School acting as an exchange student, stalking our heroine to try and get info. Nearly everyone but Usagi figured she was an alien, and it turned out that she was from the same planet as Luna & Artemis- the planet Mau, whose Sailor she killed and replaced! This revelation was never in the anime (which never explains the talking cats at all). The villain robbed Luna, Artemis & Diana of the ability to speak, turning them into normal cats, then fled. She begged for forgiveness from Sailor Galaxia for not deailng with Sailor Moon, and was executed by Sailor Galaxia, who told her that "trash cannot become a star".

-Sailor Tin Nyanko is a pretty solid fighter, but generally uses trickery and deceit- her big attack (so big that it actually injures someone FOR MORE THAN ONE EPISODE in a status-quo obsessed series like this one) nearly kills Sailor Star Fighter, but was a total sneak attack- a sniper shot from afar.

-Sailor HEAVY METAL PAPILLON- holy shit, that is an EPIC name. Just amazing.

-This one is a truly unique villain- a "General" who was COMPLETELY LEFT OUT OF THE ANIME. For whatever reason (probably timing), the character with the coolest name ever was a manga foe, but was ignored elsewhere. She appears at a cemetary of Sailor Guardians at the ends of the rivers of memory and forgetfulness. She attempts to kill three of the surviving Sailors- Eternal Sailor Moon, Sailor Kakyuu and Sailor Chibi Chibi, trapping them with vines, but at the last minute Sailor Chibi-Moon and the Sailor Quartet arrive, breaking the vines with Chibi-Moon's "Pink Ladies Freezing Kiss", then an "Amazoness Jungle Arrow" from the Quartet kills her. Okay, so yeah, this makes it pretty clear- she and many of the later Sailor Animamates were one-off villains in the manga, only appearing for a single fight scene before being killed. As the anime had to make characters out of the "one-arc" baddies, they wouldn't have had the time to showcase these people without more foresight- you see things like the last four Witches 5 existing for only a single episode at a time because of that, and maybe the writers wanted to be focusing on the other characters by the end point of the show.

-The character is mostly an unknown- even her "Galactica Scales" attack is merely named, never shown, but an Area Snare is a devating trick in a "Low-Strength" setting like Sailor Moon. As such, this build is highly speculative.

I think the fact that she's tied to Chibi-Usa and the Amazons (I will not type that other word and you can't make me) might be the real reason she never showed; or, put another way, the reason that she was created to appear in the first place, to give those five something to do.

-Sailor Lethe & Sailor Mnemosyne are sisters, joining the Shadow Galactica after the destruction of their planets by Sailor Galaxia- Lethe & Mnemosyne had been at war for centuries, and they felt they had little choice but to follow Galaxia. Both hoped that she could create a better future for the universe- one without war. They are some of the last villains fought by our heroines- Sailor Moon, Kakyu & the Starlights arrive at Sagittarius Zero Star to fight Galaxia, finding a massive desert. A river with a mysterious ferryman offers them passage, but it's a trap- Sailor Moon awakens at the river's bottom, with no memory of who is is or why she came. Sailor Lethe arrives, showing the Greek origins of her name- the River Lethe removed all memories in Greek mythology.

-Lethe was the more aggressive of the two, attacking a helpless Sailor Moon, and then even killing Luna, Artemis & Diana as the series just runs out of EVERYBODY! However, the pacifistic Mnemosyne stopped Lethe's attack on our heroine, insisting it be left up to Galaxia- this allowed Sailor Moon to regain her memories, and she resurfaced. Lethe couldn't bring herself to attack her sister over this, but she realized the futility of her mission when Sailor Moon offered her OWN life. Lethe then realized that Sailor Moon came to end war, not cause it, as Galaxia had told them. They allowed Sailor Moon's party to pass through, at which point Sailor Phi & Sailor Chi appeared, killing both of them- they then took the Star Seeds of the helpless Starlights (still unconscious from the river).

-Sailor Lethe was shown to have a generic kind of energy wave attack, but Sailor Mnemosyne never engages in any attacks.

-More manga-only characters, Sailor Phi & Sailor Chi are the most loyal, elite agents of the Shadow Galactica, subordinate only to Sailor Galaxia. They appear throughout the manga, which makes it stranger that they don't appear in the anime at all- lack of time? They were placed in charge of the "Garden" that cultivated the Star Seeds that Galaxia had been collecting, and watching over the actions of the Sailor Animamates on Earth. They are there to deliver bad news- as well as Star Seeds- to their master, but start acting late in the manga- they kill six Sailors between them- Sailor Lethe, Sailor Mnemosyne, and then the Sailor Starlights themselves are all ultimately killed by them (the Starlights are unconscious, having been struck by waves on the River Lethe). Sailor Moon is instructed by Sailor Kakyu to destroy their Bracelets, and she does so to Sailor Phi, turning her to ash. Sailor Chi gains her revenge by stabbing Sailor Kakyu through her back with a staff- Kakyu dies in Sailor Moon's arms, and Usagi reacts by killing Sailor Chi.

-Sailors Phi & Chi are actually very lethal combatants- Sailor Kakyu is also high-tier and is killed by a single MELEE WEAPON. While Sailors are typically Glass Cannons at the best of times, this is a pretty remarkable display by these two villainesses. Only Phi is shown using the "Galactica Plants Blizzard" blast, but both can use the Bracelet attacks, or just stab people with the staff (which is what finishes off Kakyu). So they are PL 10 melee fighters, PL 11 Blasters, and PL 12 with their Extractors.

Total: Abilities: 126 / Skills: 56--28 / Advantages: 20 / Powers: 228 / Defenses: 18 (420)

-And now, the biggest of the show's Big Bads, Sailor Galaxia. She first appears as a mysterious voice reawakening Queen Nehelennia to send her against the Sailors one more time, necessitating the full rebirth of Sailor Saturn. This turns out to be Galaxia's game all along- to "mature" her Star Seed to its most delectable point... because, see, Galaxia is COLLECTING them, stealing Star Seeds and destroying worlds in her wake! And she's gathered the Shadow Galactica as minions in order to carry things out, while she sits on her throne.

-In the finale, she is wonderfully arrogant, like most Sailor Moon villains. But rather than being outragd by Usagi's defiance, she finds it AMUSING- a great laugh after all the genocide she's caused. When Sailor Uranus & Neptune dupe her into thinking they're her loyal minions, then turn on her, she's actually IMPRESSED. She just looks down, smirks, and praises their duplicity and willpower. "You took the Star Seeds from your friends and became my servants knowing you could die, all the while waiting for an opportunity to strike back? And I completely fell for it". And this AMUSES her. She even congratulates them for overpowering her control of the bracelets- something that's never happened before. And she's still there, admiring her "trinkets"- the Star Seeds of everyone Usagi loves, including a golden one she recognizes as Mamoru's.

-Her backstory is given much later, and is rather tragic- the Sailors have been wondering about the "Legendary Sailor Guardian" who once saved the universe centuries ago. And Galaxia taunts Sailor Moon in the end "That Legendary Sailor Guardian... is me". It was GALAXIA that had stood against Chaos- an evil force that threatened all existence- and ultimately sealed it. She did so by sacrificing herself, absorbing Chaos into her own body. Casting off her Star Seed so it could remain pure, she tried to hold Chaos back herself, but it's clear to us (and Usagi) that it consumed her, turning her dark. Her murderous rampage across the universe is fueled by this darkness- she saw herself as the only person who could keep order and fight evil... and so began her conquest of everything, relying only on herself.

-And so all the Sailors try to kill her, and the Star Seed returns in the form of Chibi-Chibi, who forms a massive blade that can seal Galaxia away forever... and Usagi REFUSES that, finding such pity and mercy in her heart that she feels bad for her friends' killer, pointing out that she shouldn't have had to do that all alone. And so Sailor Moon rejects the sword and offers her hand to Galaxia. The villain is of course all "Are you KIDDING ME?", but the small amount of light left within her responds to this act, and Galaxia is purified. She bemoans that Chaos is now free to roam once more, but Usagi just calmly explains that now EVERYONE can share in the burden. Yes, Usagi has once more weaponized THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP. To the point where it's clear that Galaxia, who DIDN'T have any friends, failed specifically because of that very fact.

-Honestly, I was never QUITE taken with her design. The blocky, straigt-edged armor looked kinda boxy and weird, and the headdress loses the epic feel of Beryl & Nehelennia, and the flowing energies of the other villains. She was just a skirt-wearing "Armored Sailor" and that was it- I was expecting giant wings and flowing capes and stuff by this point. She only gained wings as part of the "Chaos Galaxia" form that faced Eternal Sailor Moon in the end.

-In the manga, a bit more backstory is given- her original name was Sailor Cosmos, and the "Chaos" that infuses her is the source of all evil- all villains faced so far (Metalia, Death Phantom, Pharaoh 90 & Queen Nehelennia) are mere incarnations of this primal evil force. Her goal seems to be just "Gain more power" but ultimately the backstory is mostly the same. But Galaxia actually UNDERSTANDS this, and realizes Chaos is just using her to destroy everything, and so she wants to use the Silver Crystal against Chaos. She also wants to kill Sailor Moon, being corrupted into thinking she was the reason war and evil existed. Sailor Moon is given the option of killing her, at the cost of making it so that no more stars can be born in the galaxy. It is this that Usagi rejects, instead protecting Galaxia herself from the force of Chaos- proximity to Sailor Moon's divine light purifies her- she loses her will to fight and her bracelets shatter- an act that kills her.

-Galaxia is a bit tricky to figure out in terms of stats, because she's not really as flashy as the other Sailor Moon villains, but appears to be top-tier. None of the other Sailors' attacks even phase her until the Starlights do a triple-attack which makes her bleed- she's even like "You made me bleed my own blood!", which makes her seem more vulnerable than the top-tier foes who could only be killed by Usagi using the Silver Crystal against them! And I mean, Pharaoh 90 is a PLANET. But Galaxia seems unkillable way beyond those menaces- she even proves to be able to heal easily.

Chibi-Chibi

CHIBI-CHIBI
Dub Name:
N/A
Role: Deux Ex Machina
Hair Colour: Pink

-This is, by far, the major Sailor Moon character I knew the least about prior to watching Sailor Stars, as the fandom hadn't really "gotten" to that point when I first got into the series. She was treated as a pariah by '90s fans because she was a sign of the show pulling a Cosby Show and falling entirely to "Uh, well they don't like the old kid anymore, so let's make a NEW kid", creating another, even younger, cutesy "Kid Focus" character. To be fair, she only heavily features in one single episode as a major deal, so it's NOT that... but the visuals read that way when it's 1996 and you're looking at the internet for stuff.

-She can only say her name (like a Pokemon or something), and ultimately does the old "Brainwash Usagi's family to think she's the baby of the family" thing... except only Ikuko-Mama is seen, because Shingo had his last episode in SuperS, and Usagi's poor dad hasn't been seen for literally a HUNDRED EPISODES by now! The girls try to theorize her origins (thinking she's another daughter of Neo Queen Serenity & King Endymion), but Pluto refutes this, and warns them not to trust her (naturally).

-Only one episode is really focused around Chibi-Chibi, who is getting candy from a mysterious place. First, Usagi & Luna follow her around, but then the rest of the gang stumble upon them, and it's a series of sight gags and unexpected humor, as Chibi-Chibi deftly avoids harm while running through traffic and seeing a huge dog, while the girls behind her are terrified. And it turns out she's been hanging out at the home of an extremely wealthy businessman. He apparently dotes on this mystery visitor, and regards the girls (and Three Lights, who of course have stumbled by, too) as a delight as well, but of course he's attacked. Sailor Antique is dealt with handily (Sailor Moon actually stops his sword with her BARE HANDS), as Chibi-Chibi repeatedly trips him up. He starts tossing around antiques to Sailor Moon's horror, summons a horse, but Star Sensitive Inferno burns him (and a chandelier, which falls on him), and we're done.

-Finally, it's revealed that Chibi-Chibi holds great power- during a fight, she arrives and grabs Sailor Moon's wand... a shining light bursts into the sky, reflecting the creation of a new star! Every Sailor feels it- even Galaxia! Chibi-Chibi is a Sailor Senshi, too! And when she touches Sailor Moon's hand, she awakens new powers within her (you can tell because the wand gets even MORE pimped out)- the Silver Moon Crystal Power Kiss... operates exactly like the "Therapy Kiss" does, with the same results, making this pointless, lol.

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Sailor Lead Crow & Heavy Metal Papillon! Sailor Galaxia!)

Post by Jabroniville »

Aaaaaaaaaaaand I’m done! After MULTIPLE years (my Sailor Moon re-builds started only a few months after Echoes was born), 200 episodes and tons of reading of the various Wiki sites, I have completed my builds of Sailor Moon! Just like finishing my episode watch, this is kind of a surreal experience. The knowledge that I might never need to stat these characters again (until like there’s a fourth edition or something, lol), plus all the years spent re-doing these- it’s pretty wild.

Posting Galaxia again reminds me of Mike5000- if you don’t remember him, he was a guy on the old ATT notorious for only ever submitting requests, and always for powerful characters. He later settled down and even had a build thread of his own, but I remember his request for Galaxia and him freaking out (positively) when I posted it.

So what’s next? Well it’s a bit of a breather between larger sets- I’m pushing up the TMNT builds since there seemed to be a lot of enthusiasm there, and it’ll let me spread out the other things people wanted to see a bit better (otherwise it’ll be eight months until you see Batman builds)- there’s a handful of Marvel teams, Jobber squads and fighting game stuff I’ve already completed that I can intersperse instead.

So before the TMNT set, there’s a week(ish) of obscure fighting game builds! Plus a couple of random marvel characters!

It's pretty sweet seeing the Sailor Moon build set finally completed! I I really liked that you even included the manga-only characters, too (I wonder if they'll show up in Crystal if it gets a Stars adaptation, now that they've done the Dead Moon arc). Looking forward to more jobbers and fighting games, plus the TMNT!

Now I get to continue pestering you about the tokusatsu Sailor Moon series, right? Until you eventually break-down in a fit of madness, watch it, and start posting builds for it by, what... 2035?

Here's a question Jab: Why not do Power Rangers or G.i.Joe/MASK builds? You already did the Template for the PR crew, so it'd be easier to do character backgrounds...

I found that series just too silly for me, though descriptions of the plot actually made it seem interesting, lol. Like Venus facing an early death by sickness and such.

No interesting in MASK or Power Rangers, sorry. I've already done G.I. Joe.

Tuff E Nuff

TUFF E NUFF:
Release Date: 1993
Made By: Jaleco

-Given the much more awesome name Dead Dance in Japan, Tuff E Nuff is a now-forgotten early Fighting Game Street Fighter knock-off created by Jaleco for the Super Nintendo. The only thing that makes it really stand out visually is the fact that the health bars are on the SIDES of the screen, the bars shrinking downwards like a Mega Man game. This has the effect of "squashing" combat towards the center, which is probably why literally every other fighter doesn't do that. It also uses the Art of Fighting thing where a character's face gets increasingly bloody and bruised as the fight goes on. The big gameplay difference, however, is that you "Level Up" like an RPG, as your Special Moves actually increase in size and damage as you defeat opponents! This is a very inventive set-up almost never used (Brutal: Paws of Fury lets you unlock Moves as you go, at least).

In the game, you can play one of four characters, but a Boss Code unlocks the other seven. You can play Story, PVP or Player vs. CPU modes. The story is that the Earth is in a Post-Apocalyptic timeline in 2151, and the only chance for a decent life is to fight for it in a bloody competition. An evil fighter named Jade finds a blue suit of armor and calls himself "The Fighting King", taking control of the world, building a tower with six guards in it. You play one of the four attempting to unseat Jado- a Story Mode's dialogue is cut in the Westernized version, however.

The game actually got a positive reception when it came out, and the YouTube comments are quite praising of it as a memorable thing. Despite that, I've never heard of it and it never received a sequel, unlike almost EVERY decent Street Fighter Clone of the era. I mean, Fighter's History got a sequel and THIS didn't? The box art for the Japanese version actually came from a UK gaming magazine's article on the game- Jaleco was so impressed by what they came up with that they wanted it for the box art. For unknown reasons, the American release changed the art, and it's considered one of the worst covers of all times. Granted, #1 and 2 are probably the first Mega Man games, so that sometimes doesn't hurt sales, but yeah.

Overall, you can see the Street Fighter aspects right away- the main hero has a Head Swap, and both have Dragon Punch and Fireball rip-offs as part of their offense.

The Roster:
Syoh: The Main Hero- a Cody Travers-esque street brawler dressed like a Fist of the North Star character. Obvious Shotoclone fighting style.
Zazi: A black head-swap of Syoh's, and his big rival.
Kotono: Female ninja throwing kunai. Out to kill Jadoh for killing her father.
Vortz: Dutch Pro Wrestler.
Beans: New York street punk.
Dolf: Libyan military commander.
Rei Mizuno: Japanese Kenpo expert.
Gajet: Pro wrestler who once killed an opponent.
Shiro: Japanese Ninja with magical powers.
K's: German Cyborg with bionic arms.
Jadoh: Fighting King and ruler of the world.
