From what I recall, one big part of the reason for there being so many characters is that a character would often be removed from the roster due to story/other reasons, and would almost always be replaced with a guy with a similar moveset, so that people could still use the playstyle. Of course, this results in people clamoring for the cut characters to come back..This is especially apparent in the "Everyone Gets In" games. So basically, there's a lot of moveset deriratives/clones.

-Drahmin is an Oni who was sent to Netherrealm for his evil warlording in Outworld, and was driven insane by the experience. Drahmin & Moloch have been freed by Quan Chi, who uses them as attack dogs to protect him from the revenge of Scorpion. However, he soon abandoned them, and they craved revenge- they were recruited by Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance as a protective method against Quan Chi's potential treachery.

-Drahmin has an unusual style, in that he's stronger than other characters (Iron Club + Special Moves hit +7 Damage), but a worse fighter, making him a hard guy to play as, as he's dependent upon his specials to do damage. The whole "Oni With An Iron Club" thing is Japanese slang for "Invincible", by the way. Drahmin, along with Hsu Hao, is Ed Boon's least-favourite character, and will likely thus never reappear.

-Drahmin is PL 7.5 mostly, but has REALLY bad Defenses, making him a rather un-good character.

-Moloch is, like Drahmin, an Oni of large size (but not quite Large Size), but in his case, he's a Sub-Boss, and has some nasty immunities- being unable to be grappled or Blasted is a BIG advantage in a universe full of guys who often have 50% of their offense being that. He has even fewer character bits than Drahmin does, and only appears in the New Kontinuity as a severed head held by Quan Chi during one of his Victory Poses.

Total: Abilities: 90 / Skills: 48--24 / Advantages: 37 / Powers: 44 / Defenses: 19 (214)

Shao Kahn- The Iconic Final Boss of Mortal Kombat:
-Shao Kahn is a pretty generic Boss as far as those types of characters go- I've read a blog or two that discusses the tiresome over-use of "Dark Lord" type villains who are nothing more than "I am big and evil and wear manly spikes" and just want to conquer all lands for power's sake. And I get it- there's a TON of those guys out there, to the point where they end up being the Default Fantasy Villain. However, I approve of Shao Kahn, if only because he's got an army of interesting subordinates to lord over (the hallmark of any great villain is great villains WORKING for him), he has an array of humorous taunts (as cool as Darth Vader was, he never shouted "It's official- YOU SUCK!" at Luke Skywalker), and the fact that like the Shokan & Centaurians, he is cheap as HELL.

-Seriously, while the other guys practice Air Throws and junk, Shao Kahn simply barges ahead at a hundred miles an hour with Shadow Moves, ignores HIT STUN (basically you can't combo him because he'll just sit there and throw free hits anyways instead of "selling" the impact of your punches), and OH MY GOD THE WRATH HAMMER. Combining the manliest name for a weapon EVER with a six-foot-long Warhammer capable of blowing your health off like nothing else, your only chance was the fact that he didn't just do it all the time.

-Kahn was kinda mediocre in the movies, being an uber-generic Dark Lord, though the out-of-nowhere "You WEAK, pathetic fools!" ending in the first movie was pretty funny and entertaining, though a bit over the top. He was offed by Liu Kang in the finale thanks to the use of the Animality finisher. Really, this guy was always best with that sweet, mocking growly voice of his.

Original Kontinuity:
-Shao Kahn is the Emperor of Outworld- a vicious, hateful ruler who wishes to conquer Earth via the Mortal Kombat tournaments, as he'd done with Edenia years earlier. He's unseen in the first game (which sees Shang Tsung- his subordinate- fail in the final Mortal Kombat that would have sealed Earth), but arrives in the second as the Final Boss- it's revealed that the taunting announcer with the growly baritone is actually the Emperor himself. And if you're lucky enough to get by Kintaro, you have to deal with KAHN. Here, he lures Earthrealm's fighters for a tournament in Outworld. He fails, losing to Liu Kang as his minions had done... however, he returns in old form for Mortal Kombat 3, having just done an end-run around the whole "Must Win Ten Tournaments" rule, resurrecting Queen Sindel (who ruled Edenia, and committed suicide rather than stay married to Kahn) and thus enabling him to invade Earth and commit mass genocide. However, he fails once more, and is thought-killed by Liu Kang.

-Kahn thus vanishes for two games in the series- it's explained that he survived, but was badly weakened, losing Outworld to Kitana and Sindel, whose mind was restored. He is then thought-killed by Quan Chi & Shang Tsung's "Deadly Alliance" in the game of the same name, but they later pulled an "It Was A Doombot" thing via cloning. It's later revealed that he was the advisor to Onaga- The Dragon King- and usurped him. He regains the throne of Outworld upon Onaga's defeat, Mileena giving up her role as temporary ruler. In the final game, he, Onaga, Quan Chi & Shang Tsung ally in order to stop Blaze. He is apparently the canonical winner of the entire series, having killed Raiden in the final moments of MK: Armageddon, before the universe ends and Raiden sends a warning back to his past self.

New Kontinuity:
-Shao Kahn remains the Emperor of Outworld and adoptive father of Kitana. His cruelty turns her to the side of Earthrealm, even as his minions fail repeatedly. When Kung Lao defeats Shang Tsung, Quan Chi and Kintaro, Kahn angrily executes him while he's bragging, snapping the monk's neck. An enraged Liu Kang then attacks, punching a hole through Kahn's chest, winning the day. This mortal wound is only healed by Quan Chi, and he renews his efforts to conquer Earthrealm, this time by resurrecting Queen Sindel, corrupting her soul in order to breach the barrier between realms. He murders Tsung in order to power Sindel up with souls, and she slaughters many of Earth's fighters.

-In the end, however, Sindel is killed by Nightwolf's sacrifice, and Raiden resolves to allow Kahn to win and merge the realms- this breaks the rules of Mortal Kombat, and will allow the Gods to destroy him. After much tragedy (Raiden kills Liu Kang in the process of stopping him from fighting Kahn), Raiden is empowered by the Elder Gods, and defeats the villain. A powerless Kahn is taken away by the Gods for punishment.

-Well you had to know he wasn't going to stay dead for long. Shao Kahn returns in MK 11, owing to Kronika's time-storm. He immediately lashes out at Kotal Kahn, who took his throne, and nearly kills him until he escapes. The two engage each other repeatedly, Shao enraged at the fact that Mileena is also dead, and he allies with Kronika. Finally, he easily defeats an injured Kotal in kombat, crippling him. However, he is then challenged by his daughter, and Kitana slices his eyes with her fan blade, blidning him and defeating him once and for all. He reappears in the Aftermath DLC, met and healed by Sindel, who leads a rebellion. Kung Lao is killed by the pair, and Liu Kang has his legs crushed! However, when they team with Shang Tsung to take Kronika's Keep, they are defeated when the sorcerer turns on them, taking power for himself. He takes both their souls, killing them.

The Emperor's Stats:
-Determining Shao Kahn's PL as the Final Boss of the 2nd & 3rd Games was a bit tricky, because he should theoretically be better than all of his subordinates (even Kintaro & Motaro), but he was still weak enough canonically for Liu Kang to defeat him two years STRAIGHT, so I made him up as a PL 11.5 powerhouse- in this sense, it is THEORETICALLY possible that the PL 9.5 Liu Kang could solo him, but really unlikely, especially when you consider that he did it TWICE. However, this is what makes Liu Kang so heroic- any old loser could beat a guy of near-equal PL like that, but Our Hero did it on TWO separate occasions, to a guy who was EVEN BETTER, and in theory should have crushed him. He also ends up being very expensive, as he's an ultra-powerful sorceror, and the crap he does in the fluff (soul-eating "Soulnados" that spin around and suck out souls) is borderline Cosmic Villain in nature at times- he's got a good Arkane Lore Skill and he's got Ritualist, in addition to being the Big Bad, so Plot Devices can be his stock in trade. His height is borderline Growth, but not really- he had less reach than the Shokan (despite being taller), and in other games, he's a mere 7 feet or so.

-The Final Boss of Mortal Kombat (vs) DC Universe, Dark Kahn is the craggy, lava-looking fusion of Shao Kahn with Darkseid. I just bumped him from PL 11.5 to a full PL 12, and included the varied moves in the game. Primarily similar "hits harder" kind of stuff, but also a Stunning "Wrath Hammer" move, a "Ground Pound" equivalent, and the Kombat Rage that fuels the other fighters' fights against each other.

He wrote fictional stories where Baraka was the best fighter in Mortal Kombat, and imagined him & Mileena as some ass-kicking duo of gross lovers (wow, five years on and I've completely forgotten that. Weird).
Original Kontinuity:
-Baraka was just a generic bad guy- the leader of the Tarkatan Hordes. He plotted with Mileena to rule Outworld themselves, but she was killed by Kitana, and Kahn lost another way. Baraka instead moved off on his own, missing the next THREE GAMES (MK 3, 4, Deadly Alliance) before finally making a comeback, though he appeared in the final MK 3 collection. He returned in MK: Deception, finally finding a new master in Onaga, the Dragon King. Curiously, he appears in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe as a bad guy.

New Kontinuity:
-Again, Baraka is just a glorified Mook. An utter Jobber, he loses to Johnny Cage, Cyrax, Jade, and more, generally being Shao Kahn's dumbest and worst minion. He favors Mileena as Shao Kahn's heir, and allies with her in the backstory of Mortal Kombat X... but is utterly destroyed by the New Villain Stink of D'Vorah, who tears his innards out with her stingers, and mashes them to a pulp.
Baraka and Mileena (as low level mooks) in a 2 v 1 fight (because they are evil) might just be enough to take down a top tier fighter... The fan fic is...icky, but understandable, and even worse.

-Meat is a Hidden Joke Kharacter, showing up as an actual bloody corpse, created as an experiment by Shang Tsung, but escaping before he could be completed fully. In a true rarity, he has the ability to Regenerate a bit of health. The MK 4 version of Meat was just a cloned "Skin" of the character chosen in his place, making him either a Variable-powered guy with the "Mimic" descriptor, or just a clone. He only appeared in his debut, and the "Everyone Gets In" game.

but yeah, Tekken mainly for all the guest stars and I want to hear Jab complain about Negan...and I will join him
I only know the name "Negan" because I was looking up the names for all the characters for the inevitable 2-month series if I ever stat these damn guys. I assume he can slow time to engage in a talk, then a chat, then a visit, then a conversation; because holy hell that is one tiresome damn show to watch.
