Well, that's the thing about fighting: it's all about getting the other person to fight your way and not fight their way. The best martial artists are people who have developed a style that plays to their strengths and are good enough to know how to make other people fight their fight instead of fighting the other person's fight. The 300 pound mass of muscle is going to want to get into a "punch for punch" trade of blows or a grapple, so you don't play his game. You do something else.

Relationship (Family)- Roger has a wife and son, but does not seem to care overly much for them.

Total: Abilities: 30 / Skills: 28--14 / Advantages: 10 / Powers: 6 / Defenses: 12 (72)

-Roger appeared in Tekken 2 as a Secret Character- a boxing kangaroo created from Doctor Bosconovitch's genetic engineering. He disappears from most subsequent games, replaced by his son, Roger Jr. Humorously, both Roger Jr. and his mom search for the missing Roger Sr., but it turns out that he's been living the HIGH LIFE, unconcerned about his family or fatherly responsibilities. Both of his family members then uppercut him through the roof. In a later game, Roger Sr. is AGAIN uppercutted through the roof, as his wife discovers a photograph of him with several other female kangaroos.

-Boxing Kangaroos are, of course, a national symbol of Australia, and an old carnival sideshow act. As the creatures brawl with each other (usually over females) via a series of rapid-fire "punches" (closer to grabbing the foe) and the occasional thrust kick to the torso, they noticeably resemble people fighting using the boxing style (albeit they remain stationery and crane their heads all the way back to protect their faces). And yes, people ACTUALLY FIGHT THEM- many sporting events, even some TODAY, feature the sport, which is presumably pretty controversial. The image of the "boxing kangaroo" goes back to at least 1891, and the turn of the century featured men fighting kangaroos in sideshows all over. Pop culture cliches sprouted up in the cartoons of the 1940s, as it was rather comical.

-A minor nothing character, Roger Sr. is only PL 6.5, as he rarely appears.

Roger Sr. got the shaft pretty hard, since he's not even playable in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, while Alex and Roger Jr. are.

Motivation (Financial Security)- The family of Roger have fallen on hard times, and fight in order to make money.

Total: Abilities: 30 / Skills: 28--14 / Advantages: 10 / Powers: 6 / Defenses: 12 (72)

-Like Kuma, Roger was replaced in subsequent games by his son, Roger Jr., who is playable in the game... SORT OF. See, Roger Sr. found a wife and had a child, but he's still a mere joey. The character you really control is Roger's unnamed WIFE, who carries Roger Jr. in her pouch- both kangaroos attack. Roger Sr. disappeared years later. In Roger Jr.'s ending, he and his mom find Roger Sr., living the high life and seemingly unconcerned about his family. Both uppercut him through the roof.

-Roger actually spent a LOT of time out of the series, it seems, as he goes from Tekken 2 & Tag Tournament to Tekken 5 without an appearance, and also misses the seventh game. As Joke Characters, they seem largely under-used.

-Rogers aren't overly-great fighters in the games, as they have fairly short limbs, but their tails can be used for surprisingly-effective shots.

It is pretty odd how Roger Jr. is the one who gets the name billing, but it's his mom (Mrs. Roger?) that does most of the work. I'm still not sure why they were cut from Tekken 7, either (though that game had some pretty odd choices, like constnatly recurring characters like Marduk, Lei, and Anna and Julia got cut, only to return as DLC.)

-A literal "Player 2" version of Roger, Alex is instead a fighting DEINONYCHUS with the same moves. Appearing in Tekken 2 as a Joke Character, he would basically be exiled from continuity thereafter, appearing only in the Tag Tournament games. He is a cloned and genetically-modified Deinonychus created by Doctor Bosconovitch- dino DNA was spliced with that of a Kangaroo when the DNA was missing pieces. Later on, his moves are swapped from Armor King's model.

Complications:
Motivation (Protecting the Orphans)- King was himself an orphan, and fights to guard and support those in his care.
Addiction (Alcohol)- When one of his charges died, King was despondent, and fell to drink.
Relationship (Armor King)- Initially rivals in the first tournament, the two eventually became friends.

Total: Abilities: 54 / Skills: 44--22 / Advantages: 10 / Powers: 1 / Defenses: 11 (98)

-The original King was only in Tekken 1 and Tekken 2, having died in the interim. He's a reference to Mexican Lucha Libre-style wrestling, in which the characters could often be seen as super-heroic figures back in the day, fighting evil and helping out orphans and stuff. His backstory is that he was a street-brawling orphan until, badly injured, he collapsed in front of a monastery, and changed his ways after the priests took him in. He joins the King of the Iron Fist Tournament to make money for the orphanage, apparently hitting third place and beating his rival, Armor King, in the process. The two Kings later become friends. By the second game, King had become an alcoholic, depressed after the orphanage began struggling again, and a child under his care died. Armor King was able to bring him out of it, however, and both joined the second tournament. Tekken 3 reveals that he was attacked and killed by Ogre- he and Jun Kazama are the only two original characters who suffer this fate.

-King's appearance is largely based off of Satoryu Sayama, the original Tiger Mask, one of the originators of the high-flying "Junior Heavyweight" style that would since change the course of wrestling history, as its style became reflected in North American Cruiserweights, then Ring of Honor, then the Indie-style wrestling scene, and finally WWE and New Japan. Sayama is a MAJOR legend in Japanese wrestling, but retired fairly early out of disgust at the wrestling business. His successors as Tiger Mask have included Mitsuharu Misawa (who would gain FAR greater success as the "Ace" of All Japan Pro Wrestling before dying in the ring due to an injury) and Koji Kanemoto, and there's even a CURRENT one running around!

-King is actually inspired by Fray Tormenta, an actual priest who wrestled in secret in order to fund an orphanage where he worked. His moveset is basically taken from every pro wrestler- sporting the Kinniku Buster (of Kinnikuman fame), Jake Roberts' DDT, The Undertaker's Tombstone, Bret Hart's Sharpshooter, The Iron Sheik's Camel Clutch, and more.

Yeah, I always thought the Kings were cool (Armor King especially). Also, interstingly enough, Tiger Mask was originally a manga (then later anime) character, but in a case of defictionalization, the character was brought to real life Japanese pro wrestling. I also love how the Kings are so intent on keeping up kayfabe that they never seem to audibly speak when wearing the masks (but people can still understand them anyway)

Yeah, it's funny- both Tiger Mask and Jushin Thunder Lyger were based off of manga characters, but now their "Wrestling Versions" are several orders of magnitude more famous and notable. Oddly, Japanese wrestling has rarely tried to replicate that success. All Japan's Wolf Hawkfield, for example, was just a minor-level guy, a one-time Tag Team Champion.

King II

KING II
Role:
The Pro Wrestler, Powerhouse, Superhero, Legacy Character & Suspiciously Similar Substitute (to King I)
First Appearance: Tekken 3
Total Appearances: Tekken 3-7, Tekken Tag Tournament 1-2, Street Fighter X Tekken, Namco X Capcom
PL 8 (102)

Powers:
"Special Moves" Strength-Damage +2 (Inaccurate -1) [1]

Offense:

Special Moves +10 (+6 Damage, DC 21)
Initiative +5

Defenses:
Dodge +8 (DC 18), Parry +12 (DC 22), Toughness +4, Fortitude +6, Will +6

Complications:
Motivation (Protecting the Orphans)- King II was an orphan brought up by the original. Now he does the same job- his funding as a pro wrestler is all the money the orphanage gets.
Relationship (Armor King)- Armor King, an old friend of the original King's, trained King II into the fighter he is today.
Enemy (Ogre, Craig Marduk)- Ogre killed the original King years ago, and Marduk killed Armor King in a bar brawl.
Relationship (Craig Marduk)- King later refuses to be consumed by vengeance towards Marduk, and the two make amends. He later attempts to defeat Marduk against a mysterious assailant (the second Armor King).

Total: Abilities: 54 / Skills: 46--23 / Advantages: 11 / Powers: 1 / Defenses: 13 (102)

-King is one of a few characters replaced with a Generation Xerox in the next game, and one of the only ones to have died- his replacement as "King" is actually one of the orphans he once cared for- grown into a young man, having been trained by Armor King. First, King II desired revenge against Ogre for the death of his mentor; in the fourth game, he sought revenge against Craig Marduk, for killing Armor King in a bar brawl! He even paid money to get Marduk released from jail- all the better to get his revenge! In a neat ending, his Victory Cinematic includes him about to murder his defeated opponent, only to stay his hand upon seeing a photo of Marduk with his elderly parents next to his hospital bed. In later games, the two are adversarial, but soon bury the hatchet, King refusing to allow himself to be consumed by vengeance. This actually makes King II one of the deepest, most well-rounded characters of the series, especially outside of the Mishima Clan.

-King II is basically like his predecessor, but at the raised PL of the latest games- hitting PL 8. Both Kings are actually very defensive characters, rather than offensive- their specialty is punishing the mistakes of their enemies, and their chain-throws (multiple throws in succession) are meant to take advantage of openings, not lash out at full strength.

Sayama should really have more international credit since he also invented the acrobatic move "Tiger Feint Kick", that was later popularized by Rey Mysterio as the "6-1-9".

As of 2018, there have been 7 Tiger Masks. After Sayama retired, the role was taken by Misawa and Kanemoto (a rather weird choice, since the were both much more massive and less agile than Sayama). Misawa dropped the gimmick on his own, while Kanemoto lost the mask during a match.
After that, the 4th Tiger Mask was Yoshihiro Yamazaki, who was trained and officially endorsed by Sayama (who often fought at his side as Tiger King). Around this time there was also an attempt to create a female version of the character called Tiger Dream, but the chosen athlete, Tomoko "Candy" Okutsu, injured her back during an early match and retired quickly. She was also trained by Sayama.
After a few years Yamazaki and Sayama had a fall out (apparently Sayama felt that his disciple didn't add anything of value to the gimmick) and this lead to the birth of a 5th Tiger Mask, Ikuhisa Minowa a former MMA fighter also trained by Sayama, but only for a few tag team matches.
In 2016, Kota Ibushi used the gimmick after returning to the ring as Tiger Mask W (an attempt to capitalize on the new animated incarnation of the character).
In 2018, Sayama announced the debut of one of his proteges as Shinsetsu Tiger Mask (real name is still unknown). "Shinsetsu" means "true teaching".

Actually, the whole orphanage story might also spawn from the Tiger Mask manga of 1968 (later animated in 1969, probably the bloodiest animation I remember from my childhood), where the titular character -- created in a joint venture with the JWF -- donated all his money to the orphanage where he grew up.
Many years later life imitated art and Father Sergio Gutiérrez Benítez started doing lucha libre matches to support his own orphanage.
"You're right. Sorry. Holy shit," I breathed, "heckhounds.”

In advance of you posting Armor King, Eric Jacobus's take on the moveset

His notes:
Breakdown - While he doesn't have the huge array of throw combos King has, Armor King does have some throw chains along with some powerful kicks. He's King Lite. Lots of the throws are powerful and exciting, and some suplexes are applicable to combat situations, but Armor King's movelist is mostly like a classic WWE arsenal - very big, showy, and not practical IRL.
Probably just as well that they'd dropped his "jump a story into the air into a vertical suplex" throw by that edition of Tekken. :-P

Special Moves +8 (+6 Damage, DC 21)
Initiative +5

Defenses:
Dodge +8 (DC 18), Parry +10 (DC 20), Toughness +4, Fortitude +6, Will +6

Complications:
Relationship (King I & II)- Armor King was a rival turned friend of the original King, and the trainer of the second.
Disabled (Heart Condition)- A heart condition continuously vexes Armor King, though he survives another twenty-ish years after Tekken 2.

Total: Abilities: 56 / Skills: 42--21 / Advantages: 10 / Powers: 1 / Defenses: 11 (99)

-Armor King was King's rival in the first two Tekken games- he starts out as a rival, an experienced veteran who takes umbrage at King's jaguar-mask outfit. Sustaining an eye injury, Armor King is beaten, but grows to respect his opponent. Later, in Tekken 2, it is Armor King who sobers up a drunk and despondent King, getting him ready for the tournament. His playable appearances in the canon end there, though he is a factor in many of the later Tekken games, having trained the amateur King II as an effective successor to his friend, now deceased (having been killed by Ogre). However, tragedy strikes before the next game, as Armor King is drinking in a bar when the Vale Tudo fighter, Craig Marduk, boasts of his own fighting skills- a fight breaks out, and the newcomer fatally injures the veteran. Suffering from an undisclosed heart condition at the time (his ending in Tekken 2 indicates this, however), Armor King falters and dies.

-Armor King, being a masked rival to King, was inspired by Black Tiger, the rival to Tiger Mask. His costumes in the games have been inspired by two notable Black Tigers- the original, Marc Rocco, and the second, Eddie Guerrero, both of whom made big names for themselves in Japan. A later Black Tiger was Silver King, known for his deceptively-stocky physique. The likeness is so deliberate that an early name for Armor King was actually "Black King".

-Armor King I is basically like King I, appearing in only two games in the canon. The fighting styles are similar, though Armor King focuses more on punishing punches and other strikes, instead of epic grabs & wrestling holds. This makes him an easier character to play, however. He is virtually identical to King I, but I raised his Awareness (as he's a bit wiser), and dropped his Deception.
