Re: Batgirl III's Character Thread (Pussy Galore)
Another reason for toning down Pussy Galore's lesbianism in the movie might have been to avoid some unfortunate implications due to her being a Bond girl. Namely that she and James Bond have sex more than once in the film. It could have potentially been viewed as promoting the disturbing idea that "all the lesbian needed was some dick in her to set her straight". So toning down the lesbian orientation, or at least making bi-sexual, avoids that idea and avoids making James Bond into a rapist.

Re: Batgirl III's Character Thread (Pussy Galore)
There's a reason Nick Fury (the REAL Nick Fury) was such a big part of the Marvel Universe for so long and why he never felt out of place there. Superspy stories are, as you say, basically just superhero stories with the numbers filed off and at a lower power level. Hell, the Incredibles was a perfect example of showing how superheroes and superspy stuff can work within the same movie.Batgirl III wrote: ↑Tue Jul 17, 2018 10:46 pm Almost every Bond film plot (especially from the Connery/Lazenby/Moore eras) will work fairly well as a street-level superhero story, if you shave off the serial numbers and maybe give the faceless goons slightly better weaponry.
Most Bond master-villains are pushovers in a fight, even against Bond, but it wouldn’t take much to turn them into something a little more super-villainy.

As was pointed out very early in this run of builds, the Batman and Bond have a lot of similarities. So too does Wolverine.

Background:
Emilio Largo is the main antagonist from the 1961 James Bond novel Thunderball and the 1965 film adaptation of the same name. (Largo is also the villain in the unofficial 1983 James Bond movie Never Say Never Again, a remake of Thunderball. The real-life behind-the-scenes story of which has as complicated a plot as any spy film.)
Largo was a ruthless Neapolitan black marketeer and fence who worked his way up the international crime scene after years smuggling, then masterminding jewel heists on the French Riviera, eventually became the second-in-command of the terrorist organization SPECTRE. In the film, Largo is "No. 2" and head of extortion operations. In the novel, Largo is "No. 1"; however the numbers are rotated every month as a security precaution. In the novels, Largo is the successor to Ernst Stavro Blofeld who hadn't yet died at this point in the film's timeline. (Continuity and James Bond aren't on speaking terms.)
Largo's two main headquarters are located in the Bahamas. The first is his estate, called Palmyra, which houses a giant swimming pool filled with sharks; Bond is thrown into this pool but he is able to escape. The second is Largo's private yacht, the Disco Volante, which is indeed Italian for "flying saucer." Largo is one of the harsher mastermind villains of the Connery era: Failure is punishable by swift and gruesome death. When one of Largo's henchmen fails to kill Bond, Largo has him thrown into a pool of sharks. Largo also has little consideration even for those closest to him, going so far as to torture his own mistress, Domino, when he finds out she is betraying him.
Largo's scheme in Thunderball involves the theft of two nuclear weapons from NATO at sea to which he would then use to hold the world hostage by threatening to detonate the two devices in Britain or the United States unless they paid the ransom of £100 million British pounds. This scheme has been used countless times since Thunderball and is even a joke in the Austin Powers series of movies and the pool of sharks has been parodied too many times to count. Likewise, Largo and his appearance inspired Robert Wagner's Number Two in the Austin Powers films.
Build Notes:
Largo doesn't have any Equipment on his sheet apart from his Disco Volante, but he's also a multi-millionaire and the second-in-command of a vast criminal conspiracy. Should he need a weapon, the GM should feel free to assume he has ready access to any sort of mundane firearm.

Re: Batgirl III's Character Thread (Largo)
The name Largo, though not much else, was also used for a major villain in the 1980s anime Bubblegum Crisis, one of a couple of James Bond references therein.

Background:
Cowl is a young Autobot, constructed after the Transformers arrival on Earth and based partially on the memory-engrams of famed Autobot military strategist Prowl. In human-terms, he's kind of her father but not really, maybe more of an uncle. It's hard to explain in terms that a human can understand. Cowl is quiet, competent, loyal, and possessed of an almost endless ability to learn. She absorbs and synthesizes new data at a breakneck speed, turning Prowl's dedication to logic and reason into a devotion to learning and developing new skills.
Cowl's small-size and more human-friendly appearance give her an edge in urban warfare, an area most Autobots try to avoid engaging in battle in due to the potential for collateral damage. Unfortunately, the Decepticons have no such concerns about property damage and absolutely no concept of "noncombatant civilians," giving them little regard for human life. Cowl's mission is to patrol the city streets, keeping an eye out for Decepticon infiltration or criminal activity carried out by Decepticon collaborators.

Weight: Unknown
Measurments: 35-23-35

Race: Human

Religion: Unknown

Legal Status: Citizen of Japan with no criminal record.
Background:
Kissy Suzuki is a fictional character introduced in Ian Fleming's 1964 James Bond novel, You Only Live Twice. Despite Bond's womanizing, Kissy Suzuki remains the only character known to the reader who bears a child by him, James Suzuki. Although Bond is unaware of this for decades.
In the 1967 film of You Only Live Twice, Kissy is one of the ninja agents working for Tiger Tanaka, head of the Japanese Secret Service, assigned to partner Bond after the death of Aki, his first partner in the Japanese Secret Service. Kissy "marries" Bond in a mock wedding ceremony as James goes undercover, posing as a Japanese fisherman. Bond and Kissy eventually find Blofeld's secret base, hidden within a volcano and Kissy is sent to alert Tanaka. While swimming to her destination, she is pursued and fired upon by a SPECTRE helicopter, but her experience as a pearl diver enables her to dive underwater and stay there long enough to convince her pursuers that she drowned. After alerting Tanaka, she joins the raid that manages to foil Blofeld's scheme, thereby averting the outbreak of World War III.
In the original, Kissy is former Hollywood actress in addition to being a former pearl diver. She is distantly related to an agent of Tiger Tanaka and is, therefore, asked to assist Bond. Bond stays with Kissy's family on an island near the ocean-side castle of Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Bond is seeking revenge for the murder of his wife at the conclusion of the previous novel, On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Bond enters the castle alone and succeeds in killing Blofeld and then destroying the castle. (Of course, there are no ocean-side castles anywhere in Japan. Due to typhoons, tsunami, and constant danger of earthquakes, Japanese castles were always built well inland... So the film swaps the castle for the absolutely amazing volcano lair. Seriously, that set is stunning.) When Bond decides to leave Japan, Kissy does not follow; unknown to Bond, she is pregnant with his child.
Kissy Suzuki does not appear again in the Bond canon, and Bond's child does not appear until Blast From the Past, a short story published in 1996 by Raymond Benson as a direct sequel to You Only Live Twice. By the time of this short story, Kissy has died from ovarian cancer a few years before the story's present day. Bond learns that she bore him a son, James Suzuki, who Bond had little contact with but he did fund his university education.
Build Notes:
Yes. You read that right. The canonical mother of James Bond's only begotten son is an actual goddamn ninja. With a pistol that fires rocket-propelled bullets. Seriously. I love this franchise.
