KNOWN POWERS:
Artificial Life: Much of Adams's powers derived from his unique biology which grants him vast capabilities and powers. These powers are also subject to various changes with each rebirth and development from his regenerative cocoon on a subconscious level.

Invulnerabilities: Adam Warlock possesses a number of super-human properties and powers derived from his artificially created genetic structure. This is owed to possessing a perfect, genetic template.
  • Healing Factor: Adam is capa-ble of healing himself at Excellent (20) speeds
  • Invulnerability: Warlock possesses Remarkable (30) protection against physical and energy attacks.
  • Life Support: CL 1000; His new body has made him a more direct consumer of energy. This, in turn, allows him to even sustain himself without food or water. This can be done via contact with an energy conductor or the energy itself.
  • Immortality: CL 3000; Adam is a unique being and is described to be a part of the "cosmic norm". While Adam can be killed, he never truly dies. This is due to the fact his soul is so strong, even Death herself cannot claim it. As such, he is continually reborn upon his death.
Invulnerability – precognition: Cl 1000, Adam is outside the loop of destinies and as such is capable of deeds in which cannot easily be seen or tracked by even those with cosmic senses wielding the Infinity Gauntlet and exclusively using their cosmic senses granted from the gauntlet. This also extends into supernatural powers, with those unable to gather intelligence on Adam Warlock through magical means.

Quantum Magic: Amazing (50), Adam is able to manipulate cosmic energy to perform a type of “quantum magic”. He may simulate a variety of powers and effects but must pay the cost in Karma for non-established power stunts.
  • Force Bolts: Warlock can generate Force or Energy bolts with Amazing (50) strength from his hands up to a range of 3 areas.
  • Matter Manipulation: Incredible (40); after his latest resurrection, his increased skill allows him convert energy into matter and has absolute control over the process.

  • Other Power stunts: Adam has been shown to use his energy to locate and enter natural space warps, augment his own physical capabilities, and for healing and exorcism purposes all with power rank ability
Flight: Warlock can fly at Monstrous (75) speeds in planetary atmospheres, or CL 1000 speeds in outer space. If he makes a red Endurance FEAT roll, he can obtain CL3000 speeds (air or land) for 2-20 turns.

Ultra-Senses: Amazing (50), Adam possesses superior senses which allow him to locate space anomalies such as black holes. Adam was later gifted with enhanced perceptions from his rebirths, allowing him to see the auras, the souls and states of others as well as examine others genetic structure.
  • Cosmic Awareness: Monstrous (75); His multi-compartmental brain gives Adam cosmic senses. He has the ability to detect or produce wormholes and other irregularities in space on a cosmic scale. He is capable of sensing mishaps on a spiritual level as well.
  • Temporal Inertia: Unearthly (100); Adam is capable of resisting temporal manipulations as well as reality alterations
Protective Cocoon: Warlock can spin a cocoon around himself in seconds at will. The cocoon was made of Incredible (40) Material Strength and gave him Monstrous (75) self-healing abilities.

HISTORY
Eventually seeking solitude, Adam became psychically aware of a huge number of deaths and began writing down the names of the de-ceased. Driven mad by this task, he entered into a regenerative cocoon. Before doing this, he later found the corpse of Thanos drifting into space as he was killed by Drax. Understanding the fact that he is part of the cosmic pattern that counterbalanced his evil self, he created a cocoon for him to heal.

Old ally Moondragon and her lover Phyla-Vell, the new Quasar, came seeking the Kree savior, eventually finding his cocoon. Accidentally reviving him too early, an amnesiac and angry Adam Warlock emerged, younger in appearance, with slightly altered powers. He then, reluctantly, took his allies with him as they evaded capture from a Phalanx attack force and sought aid from the High Evolutionary who had, for unknown reasons, set up a base orbiting the nearest star.

He then explained his absence during the Annihilation Wave: the souls of billions upon billions of dead creatures contacted Adam and drove him insane. He needed to spin the cocoon in order to adapt to the trauma and try to aid the souls. Unfortunately, Adam's awakening was too early (again) and he was followed by seizures if he used his powers to often. He also learned that he was the prophesied Savior of the Kree. The outfit he was wearing by that time somewhat resembled that of the Magus.

Adam confronted Ultron who was forged with the mighty Phalanx, but with the help of Quasar, Starlord, Nova and Warlock, he was able to unlock his full potential and defeat the massive Ultron. After these events, he and his fellow companions became the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Adam supported the formation of the team as a necessity in the Uni-verse. Adam explained the Uni-verse had been damaged, and that was why he had been given his new abilities. The Annihilation wave had weakened the very fabric of Space-Time and left it opened to invasion. If another event of that magnitude occurred it could tear the Universe apart. They needed not only to prevent such a thing from occurring, but also to plug the fissures and help heal the Universe.

On the team's very first mission, Adam had them intercept one of the Universal Church of Truth's faith-ships, as it was headed for a soon to open fissure and certain disaster. He and the team teleported aboard the vessel, but found the believers on board to be incredibly hostile. A fight ensued, though the irony of fighting a group that once worshiped him was not lost on Adam. Realizing that they were running out of time, Adam took his former allies Drax and Gamora with him to advance forward and stop the ship.

Fighting his way through the ship with Drax and Gamora at his side, Adam reached the front of the ship just as his worst fear was realized and a sub-fissure was opened. Though disheartened by the acolytes's abandonment of their fellows, Adam launched into action to contain the fissure. When a creature began to emerge, he used his new-found powers to begin forcing it back through. Not being able to do the job himself, he accepted help from Phyla-Vell in finishing the job. Together they used the expended energy to pilot the ship to a nearby planet, and drop it off. The team then returned to their base of operations at Knowhere.

Adam noticed the beginnings of another anomaly and led the team out to deal with it. After some distrust between the team on account of Skrulls being found on Knowhere, Starlord agreed for the team to remain in their quarters for questioning. This was unacceptable to Adam, who was assured when joining that the Guardians would answer to no one while they repaired the Universe.

Adam sneaked off and went to the neural core of Knowhere, where remaining brain functions of the Celestial still remained. He was able to locate the Skrulls through this and soon found that Cosmo had been guarding them. Once the rest of the team arrived, they all soon learned that the Skrulls were trying to escape the Skrull Empire, as they were pacifist and wanted nothing to do with the Skrulls's invasion of Earth.

But the cat was out of the bag. Drax overheard Starlord and Mantis, and told the rest of the team that Mantis had used her mental powers to convince them all to join the team. Most of the team walked out, Adam leaving with Gamora to find the Universal Church of Truth.

After a run in with one of the Cardinals of the Church, he reminded the Matriarch that he was the true leader of the Church, and in time he would prove his rightful spot. In the meantime, the universe was still in danger, and he returned to Knowhere and continued to assist the Guardians.

With the universe in a fragile and weakened state, Adam and the rest of the team sought a way to save their universe. When the Inhumans detonated a device known as the T-Bomb, it created a massive, expanding fissure in the universe known as the Fault. If not stopped, the Fault would consume all of reality.

Adam used all of his power to stop the Fault from spreading and succeeded. But there was a cost. In order to stop the fissure from expanding, Adam overlapped the timestreams, an unused future to guarantee a future. Unknown to everyone else, the future he used was the one he previously prevent-ed in which he became the Magus. When he did this, it left him weakened and his own inner darkness consumed him, transforming him into what he had always tried to prevent, the Magus.

Enlisted by Kang the Conqueror, some members of the Guardians of the Galaxy were transported back in time to moments before the trans-formation. Kang gave Starlord a Cosmic Cube to assist him. Starlord attempted to talk Adam into fighting his darker side, but Adam, unable to do so, again transformed into the evil Magus. After a battle and the deaths of some of the team's members, Starlord was able to use the Cube to transform the Magus temporarily back into Adam. Adam told him to finish him off before the Magus could return. Doing what had to be done for the safety of the uni-verse, Starlord killed Adam.

Or so it was thought. In reality, the Magus was still weak for the new transformation and staged his death in order to remain hidden. It was then revealed that the Magus had actually been reborn so that he could prepare the arrival of the Many-Angled Ones to invade the Universe by killing the Avatar of Death. However, due to the Guardians of the Galaxy unveiling his plot, Thanos was set free. At the arrival of the Cancerverse's Avatar of Life, their version of Captain Marvel, the Magus admitted to failure. Captain Marvel easily killed him remarking at the new novelty of death.

As Thanos was visiting the realm of death to muse in the Infinity Fountain, Death told him that he and one other existed outside of the pull of life and death, tasking him with escorting a soul out of her realm when he was finished. When he returned to his ship, the soul regained its body, revealing itself to be Adam Warlock, newly resurrected and exhausted from the energy required to regain his body. As Thanos tried to make sense of a strange cosmic force that seemed to pull him, Adam assisted, feeling drawn as well and wanting to make sure Thanos's intentions were not truly malicious. The duo encountered the Annihilators at their destination, teleported away Gladiator, and defeated Ikon, Beta Ray Bill, Ronan, Quasar, and the Silver Surfer. Afterwards the two explored the treasure in the ruins deep below the planet's surface, encountering two copies of themselves from a parallel universe in the process.

The artifact had been created by unknown higher-dimensional entities above even the Living Tribunal, and the two universes were remodeled according to Thanos's and Warlock's respective subconscious perceptions of reality. The remaining incarnation of Thanos had to destroy the version of Warlock in charge of one reality, while the remaining incarnation of Warlock had to destroy the version of Thanos in charge of the other.

After the two timelines returned to normal, they merged together, with the parallel, and supposedly much more powerful, version of Warlock retroactively taking over the position of the now annihilated former incarnation, whose life was detailed above. It was left unknown whether or not Thanos was replaced, but he resumed his courtship with Death, and with it his old ways.

After the death and rebirth of his universe by the hands of his alternate self, Adam Warlock was brought back to life at the request of Thanos.

Waking up from a nightmare concerning the Infinity Stones coming together once more and a coming calamity ensuring, Adam found himself within the Soul World for reasons unknown. There he met an aspect of Gamora's soul that remained trapped within the Soul World since she had left long ago. Despite her pleas for him to release her from it, Adam denied being capable of doing so and claimed he didn't even recognize her altogether. Escaping the Soul World, Warlock emerged from his cocoon in the world of the living, where he was greeted by Kang the Conqueror.

Kang revealed Warlock had plucked his cocoon into the future to warn him that in the present the Infinity Stones were being gathered once again, and that the heroes trying to stop it were going to fall. Further-more, he and Adam were going to try many times to stop the calamity to no avail. In an attempt to take different approach, Kang sent Warlock back in time to meet his past self, Rama-Tut, so he could guide Adam in the mission to secure the Soul Stone and deliver the Time Stone to Kang. Once he arrived to Ancient Egypt, Warlock encountered Rama-Tut, and was directed to a star where the Soul Gem was going to manifest in the early 21st Century. Since Adam had to travel to the future in the stealthiest way possible, Rama-Tut killed him and locked him up in a tomb, in such a way his regeneration process was slowed down, making it so Warlock awakened several millennia into the future, at the precise time he had to begin his mission. The plan was successful, and Warlock emerged from his entombment right when the Infinity Stones started being gathered.

HISTORY
Robert L. Frank was the son of noted scientist Dr. Emil Frank. While on expedition in the Cameroon with his father, Robert was bitten by a cobra. A mongoose subsequently appeared and killed the cobra, but itself was severely wounded in the fray.

Dr. Frank, fearing for his son's life, recalled an old wives' tale and injected the mongoose's blood into his son's veins. Dr. Frank died of a heart attack brought upon by the shock and exertion, but Robert recovered, and found that due to a strange reaction of his apparently mutant physiology to the mongoose blood, he had developed the ability to move at superhuman speed.

Originally intending to continue his father's work, Robert Frank eventually became inspired by the proliferation of superhumanly powered crime-fighters in the United States, and returned home to develop the identity of the Whizzer. In the years prior to World War II, the Whizzer achieved limited fame as a costumed crime-fighter.

It was during World War II that the Whizzer became nationally famous. Shortly after the United States entered the war, the team of Allied champions known as the Invaders were captured and brainwashed by the Nazi agent the Red Skull. Under the Red Skull's influence, the Invaders attacked a domestic defense plant. Bucky Barnes, who had escaped capture, commandeered a New York City radio station, and began a marathon broadcast to round up available superhumanly powered crime-fighters to counter the threat. Barnes had located existing FBI files on several such crime-fighters, including the Whizzer, and broadcast specifically to contact them.

The Whizzer heard the message through a nearby automobile radio while battling a Nazi spy ring in up-state New York, a mission in which the Whizzer first met and fought alongside the superhuman crime-fighter Miss America. The Whizzer and Miss America were attracted to each other, and traveled together to New York City to join Bucky Barnes. Bucky's effort was successful, and after the Invaders were rescued from the Skull, the group that Bucky assembled stayed together to com-bat Nazi espionage in the United States under the name of the Liberty Legion.

The Whizzer and Miss America occasionally left the Liberty Legion to fight alongside the Invaders during state-side missions.

After the war ended, the Whizzer and Miss America became members of the short-lived All-Winners Squad. The All-Winners Squad dis-banded after a few years, and the Whizzer and Miss America resumed their civilian identities of Robert Frank and Madeline Joyce, and were married. In 1949, they began work for the United States government as non-costumed superhuman security agents at a secret nuclear project located in New York City. Unbeknownst to Frank, Isbisa, a former enemy of the All-Winners Squad, sabotaged the facility and staged a nuclear accident which exposed the Franks to massive amounts of radiation. Although Isbisa's act of revenge did not kill the Franks, Madeline was pregnant at the time, and several months later gave birth to a radioactive mutant son, Robert, Jr., later called "Nuklo". Because the baby emitted dangerous levels of radiation, the United States government took custody of him and placed him in an experimental chronomodule. There he would be kept in suspended animation until he ceased to emit dangerous levels of radiation.

Leaving the research facility with a generous government pension, the Franks decided to travel the world. Madeline Frank became pregnant again, and was in the tiny Balkan country of Transia when the pregnancy came to term. The Franks had found refuge in the scientific citadel atop Wundagore Mountain at the recommendation of nearby villagers who believed it to have modern medical facilities. With the evolved cow called Bova as mid-wife, Madeline gave birth to a still-born child, even more radioactive and mutated than her first child. Madeline died of radiation poisoning hours later. Bova attempted to pass off twins who had been born days before at Wundagore as Robert Frank's children, in order to give the children a good home and to assuage Frank's grief over his wife's death, but the distraught Robert Frank fled Wundagore alone.

For the next two decades, Robert Frank was a semi-amnesiac vagabond, wandering all over the world primarily on foot, never staying in one place for more than a week. The chrono-module containing Frank's son Nuklo was accidentally unearthed from its secret location decades after it was buried. Captain America and Iron Man of the Avengers discovered it while rescuing victims of a collapsed building. The Avengers took the chrono-module into custody for study. Frank read a newspaper account of the incident, and recognized the chrono-module from photographs to be the device containing his son. Using his superhuman speed for the first time in many years, Frank resumed the identity of the Whizzer in an attempt to steal the chrono-module back. During the battle that ensued at Avengers Mansion, the module smashed open and the child emerged, having grown to large proportions and radiating dangerously. The child named itself Nuklo in infantile imitation of the Vision's pronouncement of a "nu-clear nemesis", and began a campaign of destruction. Nuklo was ultimately subdued and placed in the care of the United States Army. The Whizzer, meanwhile, suffered a massive heart attack during these events, a result of doing superhuman battle after many years of inactivity.

For many months, the Whizzer remained hospitalized. During this time, the Scarlet Witch had believed Frank was her father, but Quicksilver was dubious. Robert Frank emerged from the hospital in an acute state of depression. He began to drink heavily, and spent several months as a derelict on New York City's Bowery. Eventually, the Salvation Army took him in and had him placed in a hospital charity ward. He eventually recovered from his depression, and undertook long and difficult legal action to locate and obtain custody of Nuklo. Obtaining access to high-level government records, the Whizzer discovered that the U.S. Army was holding Nuklo in California. He traveled to California, where the attempt to recover his son brought him into physical battle with the Living Laser. Once again, super-human exertion placed tremendous stress on him, and he suffered another heart attack. Nuklo, meanwhile, was relocated to a specially-equipped scientific hospital in the New York area.

After being discharged from the hospital, the Whizzer was ordered to restrict his activities and was placed under the financial care of Tony Stark. He would, however, ignore his doctors' orders and fight alongside the Avengers. Although the Avengers repeatedly protested his involvement in their battles, the Whizzer proved himself an asset in combating a number of threats to society. He was finally persuaded to retire from superhuman activity entirely, again under financial provisions provided by Stark.

After several years of retirement, the Whizzer again attempted to obtain custody of Nuklo. Officials at General Hospital in Manhattan informed him that the conditions under which they were keeping Nuklo were the only ones which would keep Nuklo's radiation at safe levels. During the controversy, Isbisa revealed himself after years of hiding, and battled with the Whizzer, his supposed daughter the Scarlet Witch, and her husband the Vision. In the course of the battle, the Whizzer learned what the Scarlet Witch had discovered some months before, that they were not related. The Whizzer and Isbisa died in combat, but as a consequence of the battle, Robert Frank's son Nuklo was cured of his excessive radiation level.

Years after his death, The Whizzer was cloned by Arnim Zola. It is un-known how accurate this clone was compared to the original, as it was quickly killed by Deadpool.

HISTORY
In late 1945, toward the end of the war, Captain America and Bucky were in London, England, on the trail of Nazi scientist Baron Heinrich Zemo. They discovered Zemo in the process of stealing an experimental drone plane built by the Allies. In the ensuing battle with Zemo's powerful humanoid robot, both Captain America and Bucky were rendered unconscious and strapped to the drone plane to be delivered to Hitler in Berlin. Unable to stand the sight of their patriotic costumes, Zemo dressed them in U.S. Army uniforms. Managing to escape be-fore Zemo activated the plane, the two American champions saw the drone plane begin to move just as they jumped off. Quickly, Captain America and Bucky grabbed a motorcycle and tried to catch up with it. Just before it flew out of reach, the two leaped for the plane. Bucky leaped first and managed to get a grip on the plane's wing. Captain America missed, and shouted to his partner to let go in case the plane was booby-trapped. Bucky was unable to comply with his partner's commands because his uniform sleeved snagged onto the cockpit of the plane. The plane exploded, seemingly killing Bucky instantly. Captain America plunged into the English Channel to undergo the process of suspended animation, but Bucky's remains were never recovered strengthening the belief that he was killed in action.

Bucky however was very much alive. When he had failed to disarm the plane in time he had leaped off of the plane but did not escape completely unscratched. The explosion had claimed his entire left arm. He then plunged into the icy waters only to undergo the same process his mentor had. After the war had ended, a Russian submarine hoping to recover and capture the missing "Captain America" instead found the preserved body of Bucky. After being retrieved and examined for any traces of the Super-Soldier Serum, his body was placed in cryostasis.

In 1954, he was revived and outfitted with a replacement bionic arm which had been made after a Soviet spy had recovered schematics for cybernetic appendage. The arm was to be replaced by a newer and more advanced one every time there was an improvement in their technology. While he had no memory of his past, Barnes still had considerable physical skill. He was indoctrinated to hate the West and was provided with mental implants during sensory deprivation, molding him into the perfect assassin.

It was during this period that he met Natasha Romanoff who was part of the Black Widow Ops Program. He helped train her in combat while she was undergoing espionage training at the Red Room Academy, where he also handled the unsuccessful Wolf Spider Ops Program. They fell in love and James often snuck into her sleeping quarters just so he could see her. Although Natasha was promised to Alexi Shostakov, she loved James more. This relationship did not last. Natasha learned that when Barnes was not needed for an operation or assassination he was kept in cryostasis in order to cease his aging.

He used to conduct many strategic assassinations across the world and would sometimes stay in one nation for extended periods. One of his targets was Itsu, the pregnant wife of his wartime ally Logan.

Then, in 1966, he was designated to catch two Nazi scientists, Peter and Mila Hitzig, creators of the Alchemy Formula, but he remembered his own identity during a fight against Drain, a Hydra agent interested in their recover. Then, with the help of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Ran Shen, he tried to let Mila escape, before an unaware Nick Fury had killed her. Captured by Russians, the Winter Soldier received a new brainwash, in order to avoid accidents like that. However, after one of his missions, in 1973, Barnes did not report back on time. He went off the grid in New York City. He was recovered at a flop house, where coincidentally his former teammate Namor was also sleeping. As both men had amnesia, neither man recognized the other.

In 1983, he was assigned to ac-company Vasily Karpov, an elderly general that had served in WWII, as bodyguard. He maintained the position until the general's death five years later, in 1988. Barnes had demonstrated mental instability in some of his later missions and was placed into stasis at one of Karpov's storage facilities which had been inherited by his protege, General Aleksander Lukin. Following the USSR's collapse, Lukin went rogue and established the Kronas Oil Corporation.

In order to seize the Red Skull's new Cosmic Cube, General Lukin reactivated Barnes to assassinate the Skull, although neither of them realized the Red Skull had simultaneously transferred his consciousness into Lukin's body. After assassinating the adventurer Nomad and framing him for the Skull's assassination, Barnes detonated a fire bomb in Philadelphia which claimed many victims. Their deaths helped power the Cosmic Cube, but Lukin who had been disturbed by the Cube's effect gave it to Barnes to store in a nuclear-safe vault in West Virginia. During investigations by Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America discovered the true identity of the Lukin's assassin and con-fronted him at the vault. The two engaged in combat until Rogers gained possession of the Cube and used its powers to restore James' lost memories. Overcome with remorse, Bucky used the cube to teleport away and went underground to search for Lukin and the Red Skull, still unaware that they were now one and the same.

After a confrontation with the now X-Man Wolverine in Serbia, Bucky managed to track Lukin to England where the Skull unleashed a sleep-er robot, salvaged from the Eisendorf excavation. Barnes abandoned his initial intentions to seek and eliminate Lukin to aid Rogers in destroying the robot. This was the first time in over half a century that they worked together, but he fled afterwards unable to face his men-tor. He was revealed to be an undercover operative working for Nick Fury, who had gone underground after leaving S.H.I.E.L.D. Barnes encountered the Young Avengers Patriot, Hawkeye, and Vision on one of his assignments and learned how his and Cap's adventures had inspired contemporary heroes. He also reconciled with his former Invaders teammate Namor, assisted Wolverine with incapacitating his son Daken, and comforted a cynical Patriot.

Following Captain America's assassination, Barnes resolved to kill the two men he held responsible: the Red Skull and current S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Tony Stark. He acquired Cap's indestructible shield after defeating Black Widow, his former lover and student, in combat when she was assigned to move it to an-other location. Barnes then tracked Lukin and eventually confronted him only to discover his quarry was not a lead, but the Red Skull himself. Eventually captured by the Skull's forces, he resisted brainwashing by Dr. Faustus and was rescued by Falcon with the help of Sharon Carter, who was pretending to still be under Faustus' control. Barnes was then placed into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody, but escaped and confront-ed Stark. He disabled his armor and fought him to a standstill only to learn his mentor's final requests of Stark: to rescue Barnes from his descent into violence and insanity, and to pass the Captain America identity to a successor. Stark felt the best way to honor both his friend's requests was for Barnes to become Captain America. Barnes agreed on the provision that his mind be cleansed of any remaining mental implants, and that he would answer to no one, not even Stark and S.H.I.E.L.D.

Now residing in Steve Rogers S.H.I.E.L.D. safe house, he outfitted himself with an alternate version of Cap's costume built by Tony Stark and, carrying his indestructible shield along with other weapons, Barnes quickly reacted against the efforts by the Red Skull and his accomplices to spread panic. Although effective in battle, he had yet to win the support or respect of either the US government or the general public. A number of civilians and costumed adventurers also disapproved of his current ward-robe; especially Clint Barton. Despite the negative attention Barnes received, he continued to fight terrorism as Captain America and was often aided by Falcon, despite his initial disapproval of him. Together the two fought an A.I.M. cell headed by Arnim Zola. The Red Skull did not remain quiet for long. He responded to Barnes' meddling by sending the Grand Director, whose mind had been molded by Doctor Faustus to believe he was Steve Rogers and Captain America after him; James barely survived the confrontation, and was forced by Falcon to retreat. The two investigated the Grand Director's next course of actions after he escaped from the Skull's grasp and was be-coming mentally unstable; most of it was hiding and running from detection by A.I.M. and the Red Skull. James was finally recognized by the United States government and the public as a hero after foiling an assassination attempt on both Republican and Democratic candidates for political debates by Sin, daughter of the Red Skull. He also revamped his relationship with the Black Widow, one of his few remaining friends who is consistently faithful to him. It was not long before he became involved in major conflicts such as an Invasion by extraterrestrial Skrulls along many other superheroes in New York. Wanting to continue to living his predecessor's legacy, James invited Clint Barton and the New Avengers to his safe-house, offering it as their base of operations as well as his own allegiance to their cause. And, at the end of a battle that involved the Avengers, the New Avengers and the Invaders, Toro, the former Invader, was revived by James: the Cosmic Cube satisfied his wish to have his friend alive once again.

Although he was reformed, there were still a few officials from both America and other foreign nations who had not all forgotten his past as the Winter Soldier. Soon, he had to face one of the crimes committed as the Winter Soldier, when he had tried to kill Chinese scientist Zhang Chin in 1968, after the Invaders had already saved him from Japanese in 1942. This one wanted to use the Original Human Torch DNA as a virus to spread worldwide, but Bucky and Namor defeated The Man with No Face and prevented his project. The Human Torch was buried honorably.

Bucky found out from Sharon that she had not really killed the original Captain America. As explained by Doctor Zola to Osborn, Rogers was trapped in a fixed position of time and space. But since Sharon ruined the machine that was supposed to bring him back, Steve was reliving his own past. Bucky and Black Widow attempted to steal the device from H.A.M.M.E.R., but they were captured. Osborn sent Widow back to Sharon with an ultimatum: either she would turn herself in, as Osborn had implicated her as Rog-ers' second shooter, or he would kill Bucky. Bucky was then sent into the custody of the Thunderbolts, who told him that he would be inducted into their group once Rogers was brought back. However, Bucky was secretly freed by Ant-Man and then rescued by Falcon.

After a period of reflection, Barnes decide to give up the Captain America identity in favor of the revived Rogers. Before giving up the Captain America mantle, Bucky and the Black Widow decide to fight and throw the shield one last time. Coincidentally, Rogers was suited up and ready to fight crime that night as well until he witnessed Bucky and the Black Widow depart. Rogers decides to peruse the dynamic duo and upon doing so realized that Bucky would be well off as Captain America. A quick battle ensues when Bucky and the Black Widow encounter Mr. Hyde and his henchman. After the two heroes dispense with the henchman, Mr. Hyde attempts to escape until Rogers joins the battle and defeats him. Quickly after, Rogers officially and respectfully hands the Captain America mantle over to Bucky giving Bucky his blessing.

When Osborn attacked Asgard, the heroes fought against his attempt of establishing an absolute power. For the first time, two Captains America took part to the battle: James and Steve contributed to defeat Os-born's forces. At the end of the war, the Superhuman Registration Act was abolished and Steve Rogers designated James Barnes as member of the new Avengers, whose first mission brought them to the future, fighting Ultron.

James confronted against the Grand Director, who became the leader of the Watchdogs as he couldn't stood how America had changed in worse than his was. Infiltrated in their troops, Barnes was recognized and kidnapped to pose as Bucky in the video that would have showed the explosion of the Hoover Dam. But Falcon firstly prevented the massacre of a train charged of explosives, then helped Bucky to defeat the Grand Director, whose body wasn't found in the river where he had fallen.

In a distant future, approximately 25 years from Marvel time, a company known as Roxxon begins to send Deathlok cyborgs into the past and assassinate all super heroes in attempt to monopolize the US and possibly the world. Their only op-posing force is a group of rebels that just so happens to consist of Wolverine. Their prime directive now is to find and assassinate the rebellion group leader known as the General. After assassinating the Punisher in an unknown time, their next target happens to be the current Captain America, James Buchanan Barnes. It has been hinted that the General is possibly Bucky himself because of his refusal to attempt to save himself possibly distorting the future time line the General has fought so hard for.

Baron Helmut Zemo accused Bucky not to be worthy to bring Cap's Shield and achieved the aim to dis-credit him as the new Captain America among the public opinion, by revealing his past as Bucky and, overall, as the Winter Soldier, thanks to the secret revelations of Sinthea Shmidt. A process occurred, Bucky evaded to save his friends from the new Red Skull girl and was condemned, even though the punishment resulted already extinguished. A Russian ambassador required James back to Russia, where he had been judged guilty for a double kill of citizens. In the Gu-lag, Bucky was forced to fight the other villains imprisoned, who wanted him to die, and received the help of some of them, like Niko Constantin, part of the Wolf Spider project. When Colonel Rostov recuperated the activation codes of project Zephyr, the plan revealed to be a trap and Bucky decided to escape during his third battle. He succeed-ed and was rescued by the Black Widow, aware of Russians' strategy: in fact, the two citizens killed in 1982 were KGB Rostov's agents.

When Skadi led her attack on Washington, D.C. Bucky was there to oppose her; however, her power proved too great and he was beat to with-in an inch of his life. Before passing out, Bucky told Black Widow to warn people about the Serpent. Barnes was rushed to Fury, who gave him the Infinity Formula, which saved his life and restored him. Bucky decided to stay under-ground and has returned to his Winter Soldier identity. Bucky's LMD was buried at the Arlington National Cemetery.

Believed dead and seeking personal redemption, James went under-ground and along with Black Widow decided to provide protection to Cold War sleeper Zephyr agents. He killed two of the three super soldiers that Madame Von Bardas, to which Colonel Rostov sold the agents, had used to attempt to destroy Doctor Doom. The third, Leo Novokov, had woken up from hiber-nation twelve years before. Considering the Winter Soldier a betrayer of his homeland, he firstly sent him a message by killing the second Bucky, then kidnapped the Black Widow as he wanted to hit James in his personal affairs. Bucky, intentioned to save his lover, accepted the mission that Leo prepared and attacked Daredevil; then, at the Arlington Cemetery, he defeated the soldier. However, he achieved his revenge: Natasha's memories were all recovered, except for what concerned Bucky. Later, James confronted Tesla Tarasova, the daughter of Linus Tarasova, victim of the Winter Soldier in 1983. Tesla had killed Father Hammer, the leader of an island where orphans grew as weapons to sale, like she had been, and seemed to want to change her past thanks to the cos-mic rays that her father invented. Reached at the space base, the girl faced James, who explained how he grew better by accepting his difficult past. The base was at-tacked by the S.H.I.E.L.D., James and Tesla survived and the girl eventually escaped.

Eventually, the Winter Soldier reappeared as a member of the reassembled All-New Invaders, fighting the aliens Kree of Tanalth and freeing Toro, now become an Inhuman, from Kurt Dagmar, a Martian who gave him the occasion to investigate about Martians attacks during the history and their link with Kill-raven.

Later, his amorous attention to-wards Natalia Romanova revealed in the fight that the spy started against the organization known as the Chaos, when Bucky recovered his beloved in several occasions.

Bucky was one of the heroes secretly gathered by Nick Fury to supposedly investigate the death of Uatu the Watcher, when those heroes were actually meant to find a trail of Fury's activities as "the Man on the Wall" (the secret first line of defense against space invaders) in order to become his replacement.

When Bucky realized he had been lied to, he attacked the LMD of Nick Fury left in the Avengers Tower, and used it to find the location of the real Nick. The other selected heroes made their own way to said location, a secret satellite. There, the aged Nick Fury confronted the heroes and told them what he wanted with them. When Fury got an alert that the body of the LMD left with the Avengers had self-destructed because someone was trying to investigate it, he took one of the Watcher's eyes from Bucky and enclosed himself in a secure room, as he tried to activate the second eye he had all this time. When the Avengers arrived to the satellite, as Iron Man tracked down the signal from the LMD, Fury con-fronted the heroes, equipped with an armor while holding the two eyes of the Watcher, claiming that his eyes had been opened.

Fury managed to repel the heroes and get back to the Watcher's Citadel, where Doctor Midas was trying to acquire more power than he had when he attacked the citadel. Fury fought Midas' Mindless Ones, during which fight one of the Watcher's eyes was taken from him by the Orb, and was almost defeated, until the Winter Soldier and the other heroes chosen by Fury got to him, and also managed to get the confession from him that he was the one who had killed Uatu. After Fury's apparent death in the explosion which killed Doctor Midas, the Winter Soldier took his place as the Man on the Wall.

Bucky recruited Daisy Johnson for the space mission as "the Man on the Wall". After killing the king of Syro and stealing the sacred beast Reznor, James started to investigate about the illum, an empathogen drug that led him to Loki. Bucky reached Loki in Asgardia, even though Old Bucky had hurt him shooting an illum bullet. Loki eventually revealed that illum came from the planet Mer-Z-Bow, governed by Princess Ventolin, a new space threat according to Fury. Meanwhile, the Old Bucky secretly explained to Daisy his attempt to save James's future, as he had already done with his pasts in the other realities. James and Daisy come to Mer-Z-Bow, where they were received pacifically by the Pao'Ree. James fell in love with Ventolin, when, suddenly, a man who wore Crossbones's mask introduced in the royal palace and stabbed Daisy, then tried to kill the couple destroying the place with a bomb. The villain was a Nick Fury Jr. coming from Old Bucky's reality and intentioned to explain what hate meant to the Winter Soldier, an ally of his father, whose absence in the childhood left a mark on his life. As he could destroy Mer-Z-Bow, Loki intervened, ordering Ventolin to consign the planet, as he wanted to control illum trade. In exchange for that, he stopped stop Crossbones but, sending Daisy to his Gun-Moon Planetoid "Venter" by a trick, he gave to the villain the possibility to face the two Winter Soldiers. Daisy had already hurt Crossbones, who was escaping through a White Hole. The Old Bucky chased him and crashed in his space shuttle, grounding to his original universe, where he found Crossbones died and could meet again his Ventolin on the reborn planet Syro. On Earth-616, a dumb Loki was put in prison by Ventolin, and the girl could finally share her love with Bucky in the Polarity Paradox Engine, the two aware of the strength of their feeling.

The Winter Soldier became involved in the search of a clandestine S.H.I.E.L.D. operation involving the manipulation of Cosmic Cube fragments that was called the Kobik Initiative. Since he had attacked several S.H.I.E.L.D. outposts on his search for clues, Bucky was trailed by Steve. Bucky met up with Rogers and informed him about the project's existence, and escaped before S.H.I.E.L.D. agents could capture him. Bucky later infiltrated Pleasant Hill, a super-villain prison where at its core was the sentient Cosmic Cube Kobik. Shortly before Bucky's arrival, a massive break-out had been orchestrated by Baron Zemo. Bucky stumbled upon Sam Wilson, who had taken the mantle of Captain America from Steve after he had been stripped of the Super-Soldier Serum, and went looking for Rogers. By the time the two of them found him, Kobik had restored Steve to his prime.

The trio made their way through Pleasant Hill and joined forces with the Avengers and the Avengers Unity Division to put an end to Baron Zemo's reign of terror. During the final assault, the Kobik became disillusioned by how Baron Zemo had tried to use her. Bucky prepared to shoot her, deeming her too much of a threat, but she tossed him out a window and outside the town. As the crisis came to an end, Kobik appeared to Bucky, distraught and begging to prove she can do well. Bucky agreed to take her in and, in turn, Kobik wanted to bring in some "friends" of hers. This led to Bucky creating another incarnation of the Thunderbolts, having as main objective to be the guardian of Kobik and Earth's last line of defense against alien threats, continuing his job as "the Man on the Wall."

After several adventures with the Thunderbolts, Bucky was ambushed by a reformed Masters of Evil led by Baron Zemo. A battered Bucky was brought before Kobik so she would be forced to do Zemo's bidding. Instead, Kobik and trans-ported herself and Bucky away after agreeing to let Kobik "fix everything" in order to save himself. However, to prevent Bucky from being killed by Zemo, Kobik attempted to turn him into a follower of Hydra by letting him relive his past during World War II. She first prevented him from being caught on the drone plane that led to him to end up on the bottom of the English Channel by having Heinrich Zemo get caught on the drone plane instead, leading to Heinrich's death, though Bucky didn't know he did this at the time.

She then had him become captured by Helmut Zemo and strapped to another drone plane. Zemo planned to launch the plane with Bucky on it and blow it up as revenge for his father's death. Suddenly, Steve Rogers appears and told Zemo that he disapproved of this. Zemo insisted that keeping Bucky alive was a liability and wanted to avenge his father. To save Bucky's life, Steve tried to have Bucky join Hydra. Bucky refused, forcing Steve to allow Zemo to launch the drone plane with Bucky on it. The drone plane eventually landed into an Allies base camp killing many of the soldiers stationed there. Before Bucky died, Kobik saved him and told him that wasn't supposed to happen. That was when Bucky learned of Kobik's fascination with Hydra and how she had secretly turned Steve Rogers into a Hydra agent. Bucky argued with Kobik over what she had done causing Kobik to become very upset and throw a tantrum.

Kobik's tantrum unfortunately caused her powers to rage out of control threatening not only the Masters of Evil and the Thunderbolts but all of existence. Fixer managed to prevent this by zapping Kobik with laser beams, but he also unintentionally shattered her into Cosmic Cube fragments, which were then scattered throughout the Arctic. Bucky tried fighting off Zemo, but he was betrayed by his fellow Thunderbolt Moonstone. After Bucky was captured, Zemo and his Masters of Evil left.

Zemo decided to get rid of Bucky by strapping him to a replica of the drone plane that killed his father and launching it before having it explode. Before launching the drone, Zemo showed Bucky a holographic message left for him by Steve Rogers. In the message, Rogers apologized for what was about to happen to him but was left with no choice as he knew he could never convince Bucky to join Hydra. The message left Bucky emotionally devastated and proclaimed that wasn't Steve. Zemo then launched the drone, which later exploded over the ocean, seemingly killing Bucky.

It was later revealed that he actually survived the blast, and that Namor pulled him out of the ocean, keeping him as his adviser. Namor later presented Bucky to the various heroes that had assembled to fight Hydra. When Sam Wilson gave the alternate Steve Rogers the last fragment of the Cosmic Cube that he was reassembling, Ant-Man shrunk Bucky to a sub-atomic level inside the Cosmic Cube, reaching Kobik's mindscape to bring her and the real Steve Rogers back to existence. The fascist Steve Rogers was subsequently defeated by the real one.

HISTORY
Yondu Udonta was a game hunter of the primitive Zatoan tribe of humanoid beings who were native to Centauri-IV, the first planet system to be colonized outside of the Sun's solar system; the colonization took place sometime during the 29th century. Intimidated by Earth's superior technology, most Centaurian tribes established peaceful relation-ships with the settlers.

Yondu's tribe, however, migrated from their ancestral forests to the less accessible plains in order to avoid contact with the out-worlders. 200 years after the Centaurians' first contact with Earth, a ship bearing Vance Astro arrived on Centauri IV, using an antiquated mode of star travel. Finding that Earth had beat him to his destination centuries before, using advanced star-drive engines, Astro set about to perform his reconnaissance mission of the planet, despite the fact that it was now obsolete. While performing his geophysical survey, Astro came across Yondu, who was in the midst of his ritual of manhood ordeal.

Although Yondu tried to avoid contact with the outworlder, the planet-wide attack by the extraterrestrial Badoon brought the two men together. The Badoon massacred the entire settlement and began circling the planet, trying to eradicate the scattered tribes of native Centaurians. With the first evidence of hostilities, Astro took Yondu aboard his survey ship and set out for the nearest known planet in the Centauri trinary star system.

Due to the antiquated nature of Astro's ship, however, the two were swiftly overtaken by the Badoon. Intrigued by the ancient vessel, the Badoon did not annihilate it upon sight, but instead captured it and took its passengers captive. The two were taken prisoner under Badoon escort to the Badoon's base of operation on Earth (the Earth having been recently conquered). On Earth, the two were taken before Drang, head of the Badoon militia, but managed to escape.

They soon encountered two other fugitives of the Badoon invasion: Charlie-27 of the Jupiter colony, and Martinex of the Pluto colony. Banding together to battle Badoon oppression, the four founded the Guardians of the Galaxy. For the next few years, the four survivors attacked the Badoon's outposts in the solar system, being at one time assisted by the Thing, Captain America and Sharon Carter. With aid from the time-travelling Defenders, they managed to repel all the Badoon from Earth's dominion. Having secured the freedom of their people, the Guardians found them-selves unable to fit in with postwar civilian life and left earth to explore space and safeguard the galaxy.

BACKGROUND
Real Name: Unknown, possibly Abraxas
Occupation: Dimensional Destroyer
Legal Status: Inapplicable
Identity: No Dual Identity
Other Known Aliases: None
Place of Birth: Within Eternity
Marital Status: Single
Known Relatives: Eternity (father); Death (aunt)
Base of Operations: Mobile with in the Multiverse
Past Group Affiliations: Cosmic beings
Present Group Affiliation:

KNOWN POWERS:
As antithesis to the cosmic entity Eternity, Abraxas is a powerful intelligence representing the embodiment of the destruction of the multiverse, and as such is far removed from the limits of human understanding. Presumably, Abraxas' humanoid form is a manifestation used to communicate, or is merely the perception of the individual witnessing his presence. Abraxas may perform any of the Powers or actions listed in these books with Class 5000 ability, though it does not do so with any regularity.

CONTACTS: Nova (herald)

HISTORY
Abraxas presumably came into existence when the original universe that eventually branched out into the multiverse was formed, spontaneously assuming the embodiment of destruction that was the counterpart to the very act of creation embodied by the being known as Eternity. Abraxas grew within the core of Eternity, although into each reality Eternity made certain a being existed to keep Abraxas from emerging. This being would later be known as the planet-devouring Galactus.

When the Galactus of the prime reality died, Abraxas emerged. He soon began to cut a swath of terror through various alternate realities, including the murder of other versions of Galactus. He used the head of a Galactus to target and home in on the prime reality's Earth and to plant a mole in a version of the Herald known as Nova. On Earth, Abraxas attacked Uatu the Watcher and stole half of his signature medallion.

Abraxas taunted the Fantastic Four with the inevitability of his coming, enticing the team to search for the Ultimate Nullifier, the clues to the location of which were scattered among alternate realities. Ultimately, the Four found the Nullifer when Abraxas suddenly appeared and stole it from them. Abraxas called forth an army of Novas to attack Earth and the Fantastic Four held no hope of defeating him. Instead, Franklin Richards, the son of the Four members Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, combined his cosmic powers with those of his sister, Valeria, to reconstitute Galactus and thus restored balance to Eternity, at the cost of burning out his own powers. Galactus took the Nullifer from Abraxas, giving it to Mister Fantastic who used the weapon, destroying himself and Abraxas. The result served to re-create a reality in which Abraxas never existed, and since all that was had ended, all that is was realigned, allowing Mister Fantastic to survive along with all those who died in Abraxas' reign of terror.

HISTORY
Arion was a powerful demigod from the nobility of ancient Atlantis. Ari'ahn and Garn Daanuth are the twin sons of Calculha and Dark Majistra, two very powerful Atlantean god-beings that represented Atlantean force of good and strife. While Calculha raised Ari'ahn to be a follower of light and the Lords of Order, Majistra raised Garn to be an acolyte of the Lords of Chaos. His companions include an Atlantean guardsman, Wyynde, and Lady Chian, his lover and the captain of King D'Tilluh's royal guard. Among his enemies are his brother Garn Daanuth, a formidable practitioner of the dark arts and Chaon, the puissant god of evil and Lord of Chaos.

Born as one of the two twin sons of Calculha and Dark Majistra, Ahri-'ahn was raised by his father and made initally unaware of the existence of his mother and twin brother, Garn Daanuth. He was raised and trained by his father as a follower of the light and Lords of Order. Knowing that he will save Atlantis from destruction in the distant future, he weaves him the magical robes for him to wear when he comes of age and accepts his role as a future savior of ancient Atlantis.

When Calculha senses a calamity would befall Atlantis from an Agent of Chaos from use of the Zodiac Crystals, he convenes his conclave of mage-lords. Ahri'ahn meets both Majistra and Garn Daanuth for the first time while being unaware of his relation to them. The Agent of Chaos is later revealed to be Dark Majistra as she attempts to gain additional power by siphoning pow-er from the crystals. Downed by her empowered magics, Calculha pleads Ahri'ahn to intervene before she could usurp the crystal's complete power.

With his intervention and Calculha's assistance, both were successful in foiling Majistra plans. However, the resulting conflict banished and trapped Majistra and Calculha into Darkworld, bleached Garn Daanuth's skin, and converted Ahri'ahn's body into energy from the Zodiac Cystals. As a last act of his power to save his son, Calculha sent portions of his converted body to a star and Darkworld. Additionally, the conflict slightly tilted the world's axis and eventually brought upon an Ice Age. The Zodiact Crystal's powers depleted, leaving little way of using magic to counteract the coming cataclysm.

The part of Ahri'ahn sent to Dark-world awoke in the negative gemstone of the realm, raised by Jheryl and taught additional magic to adulthood. Although he spent a decade in the negative gemstone of Darkworld, the land within the negative gemstone passed ten times slower. Upon reaching adulthood and completing his training, Jheryl gave him a parting gift: a bloodred gemstone that was the piece of the Darkworld Negative gemstone. During those moments, a far more powerful Calculha attained the power necessary to rest Ahri'ahn's energy from the star in which he placed previously as well as his self in the Darkworld negative gemstone, materializing it in the real world with Arion within it. The sudden and violent relocation gave him amnesia and blocked out the memory of his time with Jheryl.

The gemstone ended in the hands of a blind Wyynde, who was guided to a pyramid formerly owned by Calculha lost in a ice storm. Despite difficulty, Wyynde manage to guide the gemstone to Calculha's place and when it touched the ground on top of the pyramid, a reaction occurred and cured the Wynnde of blindness. Due to his resurrection having cured his blindness, he pledge loyalty to Ahri'ahn, having then pronounced it as "Arion". Ac-cepting the spelling and slightly different pronunciation, he found his robes made by his father and accepted his role as as future savior.

Shortly after being resurrected, his magical skills and prowess enabled him to meet the likes of Lady Chian, Captain of the Atlantean Royal Guard, and King D'Tulluh of Atlantis. He would become Atlantis's Lord High Mage due to his god-like skills and protect Atlantis, allied with the likes of Chian (whom he fell in love with), Wyynde, and later shapeshifter Mara. During his reign as Lord High Mage, he would sacrifice much of his godlike magical powers in order to end the Ice Age and worked to sought out other sources throughout his tenure and defeat the likes of Garn Daanuth, Dark Majistra, adept Rajeem, various dark entites, and even the Chaon.

Shortly after D'Tilluh committed suicide, he would assume the throne of Atlantis due to his popularity within the kingdom. His tenure is cut short due to an alien invading force attacking Atlantis, sending forth a great energy bolt that damaged much of Atlantis. Having assumed the city to be completely destroyed, he and Chian would set out to build Atlantean colonies, including Skartaris and is assumed to have married. Due to the changes in Darkworld, he would lose much of his magical powers and was forced to rely on mystic trinkets to charge his magical power.

During his time as King of Atlantis, Arion once saved Atlantis by combining Nth Metal with Atlantean magic and technology and making some sort of pact. He would claim to have instead saved it by spinning ancient magic in the center of the Earth core. Sometime after, he came into contact with the Blue Beetle Scarab, gaining visions of a proclaimed calamity to befall Atlantis and became insane from its corruption. During Doctor Fate's battle with the Blue Beetle Scarab, Arion intervened in an attempt to claim the scarab for himself. The ensuring battle allowed it to leave the battle and Arion was sealed away in a tomb under what would later be El Paso, Texas.

In the year 1659, when Arion is awakened from a night of debauchery by visions of a cataclysmic future centered on the presence of Superman. Cut off from his natural magicks, Arion employed certain artifacts to propel himself forward to Superman's present. Arriving in Metropolis, Arion subjected Superman and his friends at the Daily Planet to a vision of a possible future where Superman and other alien heroes' involvement in humanity caused people to become dependent on them and ultimately produced an apocalypse. Arion hoped to force Superman to retire and prevent the predictions from coming true.

Superman was given two weeks in which to decide how he'd deal with Arion's request, during which Arion illustrated his point by magically steering a "field trip" of adolescent New Gods, chaperoned by Lightray and Fastbak, to come crashing into Metropolis and go wild with their divine powers, causing untold havoc and general interference with the populace. Superman defused the situation with Lightray's help and deduced Arion's involvement. At roughly the same time, Arion kidnapped Bill Knightley from outside the Oblivion Bar, interrogated him, and nearly killed him. The only thing to save Knightley was his knowledge of the recently begun "Tenth Age of Magic," a tumultuous change in the world's mystical equilibrium. Knightley claimed to be studying the shift and Arion decided he might have some value alive.

At the end of the two weeks, Arion and Superman met again; the Kryptonian hero chose to remain active as part of Earth's defense and deeply involved with humanity. Arion's vicious response was to cast a powerful mind manipulation spell, with the intent of using Superman as a weapon to remove the threat of other alien heroes. The spell was thrown off, however, due to mental resistance from Superman, who had been undergoing training to resist mental influence since his last confrontation with Maxwell Lord. Tracking Arion to his base in Atlantis, Superman confronted him once more, protected from Arion's magic by a mystical shield given to him by the Phantom Stranger - who told him that, while Arion's vision of the future could come to pass, the loss of life and experience that humanity would suffer as a result meant that Superman had to try and find another way - disarming Arion of his magic rings. Now defenseless, Arion retreated back to his time, where he began to plan his next move against Superman.

Having been living in New York City in the modern age with a trans-formed Mara, he along with the other former Darkworld gods found themselves empowered once more as the Darkworld entity began sleeping once more, awakening the age-old ancient source of magic and the return of the Darkworld realm. Hunted by old enemies, he eventually finds that the Darkworld entity declares his brother Garn Dannuth his new protector and deems Arion a danger, possessing the power and will to prevent him from fulling returning. Despite his reluctance in reasserting himself as a sorcerous hero in the modern age, he defeats his brother and the Darkworld entity by merging them together, the cosmic entity entering a betwixt state between sleep and awakens, freezing the current flow of magic from Darkworld on Earth. He then takes up the name "Arion the Immortal.”

His body was taken over by Mordru and his spirit imprisoned in Gemworld. His spirit was finally released and allowed to go to the afterlife by Power Girl and Hawkgirl, (along with a recently awakened Dove), in order to weaken Mordru. Before his soul departed, Arion revealed to Power Girl that she was not his granddaughter and thus not an Atlantean. He cryptically stated to Power Girl that he had promised her mother to protect her, that she was proud of her, and that she would soon need her aid.

He was one of the mystics gathered in Atlantis to keep the Spectre at bay, and later as one of many magical beings summoned to help rebuild the shattered Rock of Eternity. However, this Arion was in fact a pretender, a native of Akron named Bill Knightley. Knightley had decided to trade on Arion's name and reputation to build himself up in the mystical community.

Having found the current Blue Beetle holder, Jaime Reyes, he sends his servant Mordcai Cull to retrieve. Using his limited influence and Mordecai, he is successful in luring Doctor Fate, Jaime, and the Blue Beetle Scarab near the sealing grounds of his imprisonment as well as separate Jaime's soul from his body to give the scarab full control.

As Doctor Fate fights the Scarab, it releases Jaime from its body. As an act of mercy and gratitude for ushering his return, Arion uses his influence to merge his body with his soul and feeds off the energy from Fate and the Scarab, enabling him to break through his imprisonment. With his newfound power, he defeats Doctor Fate and begins transforming the Earth into his dark image. He then begins to casts a global enchantment and calls upon Jaime's assistance by using the spark of energy he retained from his unique bond with the Scarab, controlling his body into doing so. However, Jaime manages to break through Arion's telepathic control and retake the scarab, severely weakening Arion. Attempting to combat Doctor Fate once more, he is instead knocked out by a cannon blast from Jaime and is taken by Doctor Fate to be placed in a absolution crystal for ten thousand years, where he can either transcend his sins or be consumed by them.

HISTORY
The barbarian warlord known as Attuma was part of a sect of Homo mermanus, part of the Skarka Tribe that was exiled from the city of Atlantis some time ago, likely over their opposition of the royal ruling class. Prophecies spoke that a war-rior would be born from the Skarka who would conquer Atlantis by force. Before Attuma was even born, his tribe was captured by the barbarian warrior Rorak. He had heard of the prophecy and sought to rule Atlantis by controlling the warrior's fate. Attuma was born during the battle, but his mother didn't survive. Attuma kept a clot of her blood from her heart. When Rorak saw this, he was so impressed that he spared the child's life. However, Attuma was put into slavery for years along all the women and children of his tribe. But while others grew weak and died, Atuma thrived working on the mines. The young Attuma soon grew strong, cunning and ruthless. Later as a youth, Attuma led his fellow Skarka to an uprising that slaughtered Rorak's minions while Rorak himself fled.

This group then settled in an area of the ocean referred to as the "Murky Depths". This society, too, prophesied that one of their own would one day overthrow the throne of Atlantis. From that moment on, Attuma was told by his people that he would be that person and since then he has lived by the sword. Through the years, Attuma grew to be the most powerful of his people, his ruthlessness cementing him as their leader. Atuma transformed the Skarka Tribe into an army of thousands from the Murky Depths, leading his tribe on a path of violent conquest. At some point in his adult life, Attuma sired a number of children. His first born was Andromeda with Lady Gelva, an Atlantean aristocrat allied with Attuma whom the warlord personally despised. Andromeda shamed Attuma for being female. Nonetheless, Attuma had the girl trained to be a warrior as though she were Attuma's son. Andromeda sought to prove herself by joining the Atlantean Army that opposed her father. The fate of his other children are unknown, however it’s possible they were estranged from their father in much the same way Andromeda was.

In the modern age, Attuma decided to meet his supposed destiny and made a bit to conquer Atlantis, which at the time was ruled by the Sub-Mariner. Although Attuma's armies were many, they were no match for the army of Atlantis. However, the battle soon turned to Attuma's favor when Namor spurred the love of Lady Dorma. Angry at the Sub-Mariner for rejecting her love, she assisted Attuma in breaching the defenses of Atlantis in exchange for ruling at his side. Dorma realized the grave error she made when Attuma rejected her after they battled through the defenses. Seeking aid, Dorma went to the surface world and enlisted Namor's sometime enemies the Fantastic Four, convincing them that Attuma would be an even greater threat to the surface world than Namor ever could be. Operating in secret, the Fantastic Four routed Attuma's armies and the Invisible Girl utilized her powers to assist Namor in combat against Attuma. Unaware of this aid, Namor defeated Attuma in one-on-one combat and defeated him. With his armies crushed, Attuma was summarily ejected from Atlantis, the first of many embarrassing defeats.

Recovering from this defeat, Attuma decided to set his sights to conquer the surface world instead. Needing to study humans, Attuma and his forces constructed a base on a deserted island. They then captured a commercial airliner to study the people on board. Seeing a woman among their numbers, Attuma decided to begin his study with her. This proved to be Attuma's undoing as the woman in question was Janet van Dyne, secretly the size changing hero known as the Wasp. As she was being taken prisoner, Janet contacted her partner Giant-Man to come and rescue her. Giant-Man came to the island and at-tacked Attuma and his minions, passing Janet her Wasp costume. Faced with humans who could change their size at will and fly, Attuma decided to abandon his plans for conquest for the time being and fled the scene. Attuma and his horde later discovered a supply of the rare metal Nautilium and used it to construct a weapon that could launch a missile onto the sur-face that once detonated, would make the air on the surface unbreathable to humans so that he and his forces could conquer the surface. The preparation of this attack happened to fall on the day that the armored hero Iron Man was testing a new prototype submarine for the government. Attuma's forces attacked the intruder, doing nothing more than tipping Iron Man off to their plans. After a clash with Attuma himself, Iron Man escaped and then piloted the sub at the massive cannon. When the sub crashed it blew up, destroying the weapon foiling Attuma's plans. Without a new supply of Nautilium, Attuma could not rebuild the cannon and fled.

Attuma later became a thrall of the Fantastic Four's arch-nemesis Doctor Doom, when the villains used his "emotion changer" device to send an army of super-villains to attack the wedding of the Fantastic Four's Mister Fantastic and Invisible Girl. The attack was defended by a number of super-heroes who were in attendance at the wedding. When Attuma and his forces surfaced in Hudson River, they were knocked back below the waves when the hero Daredevil sent a truck carrying a bomb brought by the terrorist organization Hydra slamming into the waters. Eventually Mister Fantastic was given a "Time Displacer" device by the Watcher that banished all the villains with no memory of the attack they were manipulated into participating in.

Seeking to conquer the surface world again, Attuma built a tidal wave device which was remotely controlled by his private craft. Spotting a woman swimming in the waters, Attuma captured her not realizing that this was once again the Wasp. As such, he was unprepared when the Wasp used her size changing powers to contact her teammates in the Avengers for help. When most of the team arrived to save her, Attuma and his minions captured the heroes. When Attuma's bravery was questioned by his troops, Attuma agreed to battle them all in one-on-one combat. However during the course of the battle, the heroes broke a support pillar in the vessel causing the room they were fighting in to fill with water, giving Attuma the upper hand. Although Attuma won the initial bout, the Avengers broke free again thanks to the arrival of their teammate Hawkeye. With his plan falling apart, Attuma attempted to activate the tidal wave weapon unaware it was rigged to explode by Captain America. As the Avengers fled the scene, Attuma attempted to activate the device triggering it to explode, ending his threat.

Attuma then resumed his focus on Atlantis, although his next attempt to attack the golden realm was foiled by the Sub-Mariner. After this most recent loss, Attuma came across some good fortune when an alien ship accidentally dropped a Servo-Robot into the Earth's oceans near Attuma's realm. Attuma and his horde managed to incapacitate the robot and reprogram it to do their bidding. Attuma then sent the robot to attack Atlantis. The forces of Atlantis and the Sub-Mariner were no match for the robot, but suspecting its alien origins Namor and Lady Dorma succeeded in contact the aliens who owned the device. When the aliens returned to Earth and recovered the Servo-Robot, Attuma and his forces fled. Attuma soon got a taste of ruling over Atlantis when Byrrah, step-son to the late King Thakorr, usurped rule of Atlantis from the Sub-Mariner using special lights to alter the will of the people. Attuma joined Byrrah and the exiled Warlord Krang in ruling Atlantis. With only Dorma and his adviser Lord Vashti still remaining loyal to him, Namor was quickly subdued and exiled from the kingdom. Attuma and his allies then began constructing a whirlpool device to use against the surface world. However the plan began to fall apart when Dorma and Vashti destroyed the lights allowing the people of Atlantis to shake off its effects. Namor soon returned from his exile and destroyed the whirlpool weapon and Attuma fled to avoid capture.

Not long after during a period of time where Namor was believed to have died while in exile, the people of Atlantis left their devastated homes to seek a new kingdom elsewhere. When Attuma learned of this he chose that moment to strike against the people of Atlantis. He faced opposition from another bar-barian known as Gorgul, whom Attuma violently attacked, blinding him. Attuma then captured the people of Atlantis, enslaving them and making Lady Dorma -- the defacto ruler of the kingdom -- his prisoner. Namor was later found by Attuma's warrior Kor-Konn and taken prisoner. Seeking to prove himself as their leader, Attuma agreed to battle Namor one-on-one using a suit of electrified armor to enhance his strength. Meanwhile, Gorgul sacrificed his life to free Lady Dorma and directed her to the controls for Attuma's armor. When Dorma destroyed the device, Attuma's advantage ended and Namor easily defeated him in combat. Namor then freed his people and went his own way as he was still in exile.

Shortly thereafter, after Namor re-turned to the throne of Atlantis, Attuma plotted another revenge scheme. Unknown to Namor at the time his resident scientist Ikthon was really a spy for Attuma. Attuma then had Ikthon "kidnapped" to build a boring device to use to flood the surface world. Next, Attuma's armies began attacking cruise ships in the name of Namor, turning the surface world against him. One of the people captured was Namor's ally Diane Arliss. The series of attacks drew Namor's allies Triton of the Inhumans and the undersea hero known as Stingray. Attuma then captured them and revealed his plans, then forced them to battle against each other. Having deduced Attuma's plot, Namor and his allies overloaded the force field that kept them imprisoned and fought back. A design flaw in the boring device caused it to explode seemingly slaying Attuma. Namor then rescued all his foes captives including Diane, and he also welcomed back Ikthon into Atlantis, unaware that he was willing participant in the day’s events. Ikthon continued working for Attuma, using the resources of Atlantis to construct various weapons for his master including Octo-Tanks, and a cannon that could burn the oxygen out of the water. When Attuma and his forces attacked again it was on the day that Namor and Lady Dorma were to be married by Proteus. Namor and his allies fought back Attuma and his forces, however in the confusion of the battle Namor's foe Llyra kidnapped and posed as Lady Dorma in the hopes of becoming queen to the Atlantean throne.

In quick succession Namor discovered that Llyra was posing as Lady Dorma during the wedding. When Llyra learned that the wedding was not legal, she fled to get revenge against Namor by promising harm to Dorma. Before Namor could follow after her, Attuma resumed his attacks with a new earth boring device. During this conflict, Namor learned that Ikthon was in league with Attuma the whole time. Namor incapacitated Attuma's earth boring device and buried his foe alive. Then confronting Ikthon, Namor learned where Llyra was keeping Dorma captivate. Although he rushed to the aid of his new bride, Namor was too late to prevent Llyra from murdering her. Namor blamed Attuma for specifically slowing him down, making Namor incapable of preventing the tragedy. While in mourning, Namor removed himself from ruling Atlantis, leaving his people to fend for themselves. Without their respective leaders, the people of Atlantis were able to de-fend their land from Attuma's hordes.

Freeing himself, Attuma soon allied himself with the Russian scientist known as the Red Ghost who offered to use his expertise in cosmic rays to enthrall sea life to bolster Attuma's ranks. However the pro-cess was not perfect and required them to kidnap a leading marine biologist. The news of attacks on Atlantis got to Namor who rushed to Atlantic City with his comrades in the Defenders. They fought Attuma's forces, but they failed to stop the kidnapping of the scientist and Namor, Hawkeye, and the Valkyrie were captured. Their comrade the Hulk fled the scene after a previous bad experience below the waves, and Attuma allowed the brute to depart, not viewing him as a threat. Using the captured scientists to their advantage, Attuma and the Red Ghost also enslaved Namor, Valkyrie and Hawkeye and used them in another attack on Atlantis. This plan was foiled when the Hulk's knowledge led his team-mates Doctor Strange and the Silver Surfer to the battle. Learning that cosmic rays were keeping the heroes in Attuma's thrall, the Surfer and Strange combined their powers to briefly cut off ambient cosmic rays from the Earth, freeing their comrades from their enslavement. The Red Ghost then fled, and Namor defeated Attuma in one-on-one combat again, sending his forces on yet another retreat.

Some months later, the people of Atlantis were placed in suspended animation. Namor was spending his time living on the artificial island known as Hydrobase with a number of humans who were transformed into amphibians that were seeking to cure themselves and reverse the condition placed on the Atlanteans. During this period, Attuma teamed up with two of Namor's other foes, Doctor Dorcas and Tiger Shark. The trio quickly took over Hydro-base while Namor was away and enslaved the amphibians on the island, forcing them to build munitions for their bid to conquer the world. When Namor returned to the island he was ambushed by the trio and easily bested in battle. The Sub-Mariner was imprisoned, but soon his sometime ally Doctor Doom came to his aid. Doom made short work of the villains defenses and with the assistance of Namor's longtime ally Betty Dean infiltrated Hydrobase. However, in the ensu-ing battle with Namor, Doctor Dorcas tried to shoot Namor. Seeing this, Betty dove in the way taking the fatal blow herself, dying in Namor's arms. Doom then pulled an enraged Namor away from the bat-tle so they could plan an appropriate counter attack. Attuma and his allies were incapable of fighting off Doom and Namor's counter attack. During the battle Attuma's warrior Kor-Konn and court jester Saru-San were slain by Doctor Doom, while Namor seemingly slew Doctor Dor-cas in revenge for his murder of Betty Dean. Meanwhile, Attuma and Tiger Shark were bested in battle and taken prisoner.

Attuma quickly escaped Hydrobase and regathered his troops and be-gan plotting yet another scheme. Spotting the Avenger known as the Vision disposing of the Serpent Crown, Attuma had his minions attack and incapacitate the android hero. Attuma then sent his minions Lord Arno and the genetically enhanced Tyrak to attack Avengers Mansion. Tyrak slipped past the Avengers security by posing as Triton, but when his deception was revealed he attacked. Tyrak easily defeated Captain America, Iron Man, the Scarlet Witch, Yellowjack-et and the Wasp, but the Beast managed to escape. Attuma placed slave collars on the Avengers and sent them to attack Hydrobase thinking the Sub-Mariner was there, instead the Avengers fought and battled Doctor Doom who easily defeated them. As Attuma went off on his true goal, the Beast recruited his comrades the Whizzer and Wonder Man to help rescue the Avengers. Attuma meanwhile attacked a sea platform where scientists were testing out a new chlorobeam device. Attuma's attack on the station was interrupt-ed by the Beast, Whizzer and Wonder Man. The battle was going in their favor until the Sub-Mariner arrived and Attume tricked Namor into thinking the gathered Avengers were his allies. As Namor fought the three heroes, Attuma made good his escape with the chlorobeam, unaware that the Beast stowed away aboard his escape ship. The Beast led his comrades to Attuma's base of operations. Attuma then used the chlorobeam to strengthen Tyrak even more. This upper hand was short lived when Doctor Doom and the now freed Avengers ar-rived. During the fight Tyrak and Attuma were defeated and Doctor Doom fled with the chlorobeam. However, the Avengers managed to track down Doom and destroy the device before he could use it for his own ends.

Escaping once again, Attuma sought to sire a race of Atlantean-mutant hybrids to use as powerful warriors against Namor and his kingdom. To this end he captured Phoenix of the X-Men and Sara Grey while they were sailing out on the Gardener's Bay. Attuma then used Atlantean science to convert them into underwater breathing Atlanteans. When the barbarian made his offer to Phoenix, she refused and was able to overpower his psi-scramblers. Then with the full force of her powers easily defeated Attuma and his armies, re-stored herself and Sara back to normal and fled Attuma's kingdom.

Soon a series of events came together that allowed Attuma to finally gain control of the Atlantean throne. Namor eventually restored his people to normal and resumed leadership of them for a time. However Namor's various absences from the kingdom forced the ruling council of Atlantis to force Namor to abdicate the throne. This left Lord Vashti, priest Shakkoth, Warlord Thakos and Namor's cousin Dara to rule the kingdom. With Namor absent from the kingdom, Shakkoth started a civil war with the other members of the council. With the kingdom divided and the main armies. With no other choice, Dara, Thakos and Vashti hired Attuma and his barbarian horde to deal with the civil unrest. Attuma agreed to do so under one condition: That he take over rule of Atlantis. With no other choice, the council accepted and Attuma's army vanquished that of Shakkoth and his followers. Seeking to gain the loyalty of the people of Atlantis, Attuma then began punishing those who were still loyal to Namor. To help sway public opinion Attuma also revealed that during his exile, Namor had joined the Avengers as well as married the Plodex female known as Marrina, who had since become a monstrous creature. These truths that did not sit well with the people of Atlantis.

In order to further gain the support of the people of Atlantis, Attuma personally saw to a hunting party trying to track Marrina. Despite her attempts at fleeing, Marrina was no match for Attuma and his crew who easily captured her, and put her on display in Atlantis in the hopes of luring the Sub-Mariner out into the open. Sure enough, those unhappy with Attuma's rule sought to have Namor reclaim his throne and sent Byrrah out to locate Namor. Although the Sub-Mariner was reluctant to trust his cousin, he reluctantly agreed to return to Atlantis if only to save Marrina from her fate. Sure enough when Namor saw that Marrina was in fact a prisoner of Attuma, Namor attacked his former kingdom. Attuma sent his armies to fight off against Namor, and the former king was disgusted to see that his former people actually supported Attuma as their leader. Forced to retreat, Namor refused to allow Marrina to remain the prisoner of Attuma. While he went to recruit the Avengers he sent Byrrah to collect Marrina's former teammates in the Canadian super-hero team known as Alpha Flight. Soon the combined forces of the Avengers and Alpha Flight stormed Atlantis, clashing with Attuma's armies. During the course of the battle, Marrina was freed and Namor defeated Attuma in battle. Revealing that he had no interest in taking back control of Atlantis from him, Namor stopped hostilities, telling the people of Atlantis that they had the ruler they deserved and left.

Later during the High Evolutionary's so-called Evolutionary War, the Evolutionary tricked Attuma's Atlan-tis into a conflict with the Deviants of Lemuria. This was an attempt to get the Atlanteans and Deviants in one place to sterilize them before setting off an evolutionary bomb to speed up humanities evolution by millions of years. This plot was foiled when the former Avenger known as Jocasta gathered the Captain, Beast, Hulk, Hercules, Falcon and the Yellowjacket into a defacto group of Avengers to foil this plot. Revealing the High Evolutionary's plan Attuma and Deviant leader Warlord Kro agreed to help the Avengers find the location of the High Evolutionary's bomb. They later located it on the island of Krakatoa. While Attuma and Kro's forces kept the High Evolutionary's armies at bay, the Avengers succeeded in destroying the bomb and saving the world.

Not long after this, Deviant priest Ghaur sought to reconstitute the Serpent Crown in a quest to bring his master, the demon known as Set to Earth. To this end, he gathered Llyra, Warlord Krang, and Attuma to participate in what became known as the Atlantis Attacks conspiracy, offering his counterparts the world after they returned Set to their dimension. Attuma agreed to this plan and was primarily used to launch various attacks on the sur-face world to keep its heroes bus while Ghaur and his other allies sought to reconstitute the Serpent Crown and gather seven chosen women to be the brides of Set that were needed to be part of the ceremony. Attuma was also left oblivious to the fact that Ghaur also sought to sacrifice the people of Atlantis as an offering to Set. Attuma and his armies were first sent to the Panama Canal to attack the locks. Their arrival also coincided with the arrival of ships from both Hydra and the Maggia who were attempting to ship illegal drugs into the United States. This smuggling was discovered by Iron Man and the Sub-Mariner who uncovered Attuma's presence during the battle and sent his forces fleeing. Attuma then returned to Atlantis where he was finally confronted by his daughter Andromeda. Andromeda challenged her father in battle but was defeated. Fleeing Atlantis, she then joined forces with General Dakkor to try and overthrow Attuma's rule.

As Ghaur was preparing his final schemes, he assigned Attuma to send his armies to attack various American facilities. Attuma then sent Tyrak, Warlord Krang, Lord Arno, Orka and U-Man to attack Cape Canaveral, Fort Hamilton, Langely Air Base, and the Shore-ham Nuclear Power Plant. These attacks were opposed and repelled by the combined efforts of the Fantastic Four and both the east and west coast branches of the Avengers. With this most recent defeat Attuma began to doubt Ghaur's plans. Attuma later launched an attack on a water filtration plant. The attack was interrupt-ed by the unexpected arrival of the X-Factor's Marvel Girl and Beast, the former of which was being pulled from her home to become one of Set's seven brides. Mistaking Marvel Girl for the Phoenix, Attuma kidnapped her in order to force her to mate with him. Attuma was tracked down by the Beast and Andromea, and during the battle the Beast escaped with Marvel Girl. However, in order to save Jean's life, the Beast was forced to turn her over to Ghaur. At that same time Ghaur prevented Attuma from slaying Andromeda so that she could also become one of Set's brides, much to the anger of Attuma. Attuma was next ordered to attack New York City, an invasion that was opposed by the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man. During the course of the battle Ghaur launched a nuclear attack on Atlantis, decimating the kingdom. Upon learning of this attack, Attuma lost all will to fight and surrendered to the American military. Ultimately an army of Earth's heroes foiled Ghaur's plot to bring Set to Earth.

Attuma was later released back to Atlantis and resumed his control over the kingdom. When the various kingdoms living in Subterranea began the Subterranean Wars, Attuma refused to get Atlantis involved hoping to conquer whoever remained in the aftermath of the conflict. Ultimately this was stopped by the Avengers. However Attuma soon fell out of rule in Atlantis though unknown circumstances, and Namor eventually regained control of his kingdom.

Since leaving modern day Atlantis, Attuma and his warriors set up camp in the ruins of the old Atlantis that resided near Antarctica. They then began attacking Japanese poaching vessels which were hunt-ing whales in the region. Their at-tacks drew the attention of both the Sub-Mariner as well as the Japa-nese mutant known as Sunfire who came to the region to protect the vessels on behalf of the Japanese government. During the ensuing battle, Attuma capsized the Japa-nese ship but was ultimately forced to flee by Namor. The Sub-Mariner showed Sunfire and the crew the folly of poaching the whales when he utilized them to rescue the crew from the icy waters that would have otherwise caused them to die of hypothermia.

Attuma later attacked by the Sea Leopard who was claiming loyal slaves in exchange for allowing Black Moray to collect the supply of Anti-Metal. The Sub-Mariner and his aid, Attuma's daughter Andromeda, soon came to the region to stop Black Moray from collecting the Anti-Metal. Both Attuma and Andromeda proved to be no match for the Sea Leopard in battle and he defeated them both. Ultimately, Namor defeated the Sea Leopard in battle with the help of Andromeda and Attuma, and Black Moray fled when it became apparent that the Anti-Metal was not kept where it was thought to be located. Attuma offered his daughter the chance to join him at his side in Old Atlantis, grateful that she risked her life on her behalf, but he reverted back to his usual attitude when she refused to part Namor's side.

Many months later, Atlantis was being ravage by a plague called the Black Tide that threatened to wipe out the entire kingdom. Around this time, Attuma and his head scientist Zantor captured the Hulk after his alter-ego Bruce Banner failed to commit suicide in the ocean. Giving the Hulk an elixir to allow him to breathe under water, Attuma stole a large quantity of the Hulk's gamma irradiated blood for his own experimentation, although the Hulk managed to escape. Attuma later conducted tests on the irradiated blood on Lord Vashti, who was infected with the Black Tide. It succeeded in temporarily mutating Vashti into a Hulk like creature and curing him of the Black Tide. Attuma later used this blood to mutate himself into a Hulk like creature as well and at-tacked Atlantis anew. The Hulk and the Sub-Mariner then joined forces and defeated Attuma by removing the device that continued to pump small quantities of the Hulk's blood into his body to maintain his enhanced form. Defeated, Attuma fled as he reverted back to human form. Namor and Bruce Banner later used the remainder of the blood to cure the Black Tide and remove the tox-ins from the waters around Atlantis, saving the Atlantean people.

Sometime later, Attuma made an-other attempt to conquer Atlantis, and was once again opposed by Namor and his loyal followers. This time however Namor lost when he was suddenly teleported away thanks to a curse placed on him by the mystic known as Yandroth. The curse would teleport the founding members of the Defenders to other crises whenever they came about. With Namor gone, Attuma quickly conquered Atlantis, enslaving Andromeda and Namor's cousin Namorita. Attuma and the people of Atlantis were briefly enslaved by nanoprobes that were being field tested by the cyborg known as MODOK. They were forced to at-tack a Russian sub, but were forced back by the V-Battalion who were able to deactivate the nanoprobes.

However, Attuma still controlled Atlantis and when the time traveler called Kang the Conqueror announced his bid to conquer the modern age, he called out to those who would help him rule. Attuma answered this call, sending his forces to attack the coast of Prince Edward Island. Attuma had his min-ions unleash the beast known as Torg on the island province. Ultimately Torg was defeated and At-tuma's forces were forced back below the waves by the Avengers. Singray later forced Attuma's army out of the region, and eventually the Avengers defeated Kang. Mean-while, Namor continued to reclaim his throne attacking Attuma alone once again. Just when he was about to best Attuma in battle he was once again teleported away by Yandroth's curse. Expecting Namor to try again, Attuma gathered other super-powered beings to help him defend his conquered throne. He gathered the Piranha, Orka, Nagala, Tiger Shark and the Sea Urchin, forming the group Deep Six. This time Namor arrived with his fellow Defenders, but when they were once again gaining the upper hand against Attuma and his forces, they were once again teleported away to fight another threat. Eventually the Defenders returned a second time, this time free of Yandroth's curse long enough to defeat Attuma and Deep Six, Namor besting Attuma in battle once again. After Attuma fled, the Sub-Mariner liberated his captive friends and reclaimed the throne of Atlantis.

Shortly thereafter Attuma's universe and the universe of a distant cosmos were at risk of destruction when the cosmic being known as Krona attempted to merge them together. This plan was opposed by the Avengers and the Justice League of America. The final battle took place on the corpse of the world devourer Galactus where various members of the Avengers and JLA from different time periods were forced to fight an army of villains brought forth by Krona. Attuma was one of the many villains brought into the battle, although he was quickly defeated by the Sub-Mariner. Eventually the crisis ended when the heroes stopped Krona and restored the natural order of both realities. Attuma later attempt-ed to invade Atlantis again but as in all other attempts he was stopped, this time by Hercules.

Attuma later met his demise when attempting to invade New York City. His army of octo-mechs were opposed by the New Avengers. During the course of the battle the New Avengers were joined by their most powerful member the Sentry. Flying through the battle field the Sentry decapitated Attuma, ending the invasion instantly.

Attuma's body was recovered by Doctor Doom who used his skill to resurrect Attuma. Doom also enhanced Attuma giving him comparable abilities to Namor: enhanced strength, the ability to breath above water, and the power of flight. Doom offered this in exchange for Attuma's services in being on hand to battle Namor, whom Doom was currently in an alliance with at the time but knew that it would not last long given past experience. Doom also offered to make Attuma and his people his subjects offering all the resources of Latveria at his dispos-al. When Attuma first attempted to decline this offer, Doom reminded him that Attuma had always previously chose the sword and lost. Attuma then considered the situation for an hour and came to a decision. Attuma's answer to Doom is unknown, however Namor did ultimately betray Doom and his cohorts. Since the disbandment of the Cabal which Doom was a part of, it is unknown if Attuma is bound by any promises to Doom. Back in the oceans once more, Attuma man-aged to track down Rorak, his long ago tormentor. After laying waste to his army, Atuma confronted his enemy directly. Knowing that Atuma would kill him, Rorak begged him to spare his people from his wrath, to show them the same mercy he once granted the young warlord. But Attuma, knowing that he himself had rewarded Rorak's mercy by coming for revenge, declared mercy to be for fools and cowards and slew Rorak.

Around this time Sin, daughter of the Red Skull, released the long imprisoned former All-Father of Asgard known as the Serpent. The Serpent then began a global reign of fear to increase his power so that he could get revenge against his brother, Odin. The Serpent summoned seven powerful hammers to Earth, the Hammer of Nerkkod landed in the oceans and was recovered by Attuma who was granted its power. With his new found powers, Attuma began attacking oil lines along the Pacific Ocean. Moving up to the Canadian coast, Attuma -- now calling himself Nerkkod -- and his forces began attacking Vancouver, British Columbia. His attack was opposed by the recently reformed Alpha Flight. During the course of the battle Alpha Flight's leader Guardian used his powers to teleport Attuma away to Cape Race, Newfoundland on the Atlantis coast. With their leader gone, Nerkkod's forces were driven back into the ocean. With Guardian incapacitated, Attuma began attacking Canada's Atlantic Coast. Upon his arrival in St. John's, Newfoundland he was opposed by Speedball of the Avengers Academy. Despite Speedball's best efforts, Nerkkod was too powerful and succeeded in flooding St. John's before departing to spread chaos elsewhere.

Attuma returned to the west coast where he clashed with Atlantean warriors off of Salmon Arm, British Columbia leaving many dead in his wake. Nerkkod's path of destruction left pods of dead whales on the coast of New Zealand, and massive tidal waves that decimated Hawaii. Ships along the US coast were razed as Nerkkod made a path for New Atlantis located below the mutant refuge known as Utopia. There Nerkkod and his army clashed with Namor who was no matched for his enhanced power and was forced to flee his kingdom, pulled away from the scene by the aquatic mutant known as Loa. With New Atlantis under his heel, Nerkkod left Tyrak, Tiger Shark and Aradnea to guard over his victory as he sought con-quest elsewhere. Seeking to gain Nerkkod's favor, Aradnea used the weakening barriers between dimensions to utilize the Undying Ones to merge with sea creatures to unleash upon Namor wherever he was hiding. With the help of his longtime ally Doctor Strange, Namor gathered a new team of Defenders in-cluding the Silver Surfer, the Savage She-Hulk and Loa to face this new threat. As the heroes battled the sea creatures possessed by the Undying Ones, Aradnea merged Tiger Shark with the Undying Ones leader the Nameless One and sent him with an army of Atlanteans possessed by Undying Ones as well. All these threats were stopped by these new Defenders. Mean-while, Nerkkod was gathering an army to attack the surface world, but Namor and his Defenders were there to face off against him. During the course of the battle Strange summoned more Defenders including Stingray, Son of Satan, Cloak, Dagger, Hellcat, Devil-Slayer, the Gargoyle, Moon Knight, Blazing Skull, Cloud and the Black Panther to help fight Nerkkod's forces. Namor then battled Nerkkod in one-on-one battle, but with an assist from Loa, managed to rend his hammer away from him. With his powers weakening, Nerkkod was no match for the Sub-Mariner. Defeat-ed in battle, Nerkkod recovered his hammer and fled back into the ocean.

By this point the Serpent was reaching his end game and summoned Nerkkod and his other min-ions to a final battle with Earth's heroes in the town of Broxton, Oklahoma. As the battle rage, the he-roes of Earth were assisted with enchanted weapons built in Asgard and blessed by Odin himself. At-tuma battled the heroes until the Serpent fell in battle against Thor, with the Serpent dead the various hammers -- including the Hammer of Nerkkod -- were stripped away from their wielders, and Attuma was restored to normal.

Attuma returned to the oceans and quickly took over the undersea realm of Lemuria seeking to unlock its secrets as part of a grander scheme to conquer Atlantis once again. Having the mystics of Lemuria utilize Quantum Alchemy, they began working on "Attuma's Gift", a weapon that utilized Alkahest to melt any substance in the hopes of using it to decimate the surface world so he could use that as lever-age to take over Atlantis. Attuma became highly protective of the waters over Lemuria, unleashing its great beasts on any vessels in the area. This occurred at a time that Bruce Banner was working for the spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D. and needed to recover an ancient scroll. Sent to Lemuria aboard a Chinese sub-marine, Banner turned into the Hulk and attacked Attuma's forces but was quickly dragged deep underwater by one of Attuma's beasts. Banner was rescued by Lemurian resistance fighters led by Canor and his mate Mara. The Hulk led a counter attack on Lemuria which Attuma and his forces attempted to repel. During the course of the battle Attuma unleashed a monster known as the Kophin which at-tempted to eat the Hulk. However the Hulk was too strong to be simply swallowed and digested and the Kophin spat the gamma spawned monster out. In a struggle with the Hulk, Attuma met his apparent demise when the brute tossed Attuma into the Kophin's maw. The creature promptly swallowed Attuma and departed in a crack in the ocean floor. With Attuma being out of the picture, his forces were easily defeated and Lemuria was liberated.

Seeing that Atlantis had been weakened after its war with Wakanda, Attuma arranged a meeting with Namor, his long-time rival in the city of Atlantis. Attuma offered to join forces with Namor, willing to put their differences aside in order to restore Atlantis to its past glory. While Namor debated his offer, however, Atlantis was attacked by the Squadron Supreme, a group of merciless vigilantes that neutralized any potential threat to the world with extreme prejudice. Because of Namor's past invasions to the sur-face world, the Squadron deter-mined he had to be dealt with. At-tuma fought side by side with his old nemesis in order to defend Atlantis from the Squadron. During the ensuing fight between Atlanteans and the Squadron, Attuma was decapitated by Power Princess.

Following Namor's resurrection and the restoration of Atlantis, Attuma reappeared alive. With Atlantis being returned to its past glory and being ushered into a bright new era, Attuma remained allied to his old-time rival to help protect Atlantis from outside threats.

HISTORY
Billions of years ago, shortly after the formation of the Earth, the Demiurge, the sentient life force of Earth's biosphere, seeded the young planet with its essence, creating a race of Elder Gods, the foremost of which were Chthon, Set, and Gaea.

Over time, the Elder Gods degenerated and turned into demons, warring with one another and struggling for power and influence. Gaea, who had not been corrupted, feared for the safety of the new life brewing within the Earth's oceans. She went to the Demiurge and asked it to conceive in her a means in which to vanquish the demons. She entered the depths of the Earth and gave birth to Atum, the first of a race of new gods. Atum went around the Earth, slaying the demons and absorbing their energy, taking on a monstrous appearance and becoming Demogorge, the God-Eater in the process. Upon completing his task, Atum took to the skies, released the energy stored within his body, and retreated into the sun.

Having determined the dinosaurs to be an evolutionary dead end, Gaea shifted her focus to mammals and allowed the dinosaurs to die out. Set, who derived his power from them, sent dinosaurs to attack every mammal on Earth in retaliation. Desperate, Gaea summoned Atum to protect her and her mammals.

Emerging from the sun at faster than light speed, Atum flew directly into Set's head, decapitating him. The vast amount of energy given off by Set caused Atum to become the Demogorge once again. Set survived the attack and replaced the head he lost with two. Demogorge and Set continued their battle for the next million years and by the end of it, Set grew seven heads and all the dinosaurs were dead. Weakened, Set fled into his own dimension. His job done, Demogorge reverted to Atum and once more returned to the sun.

Eventually, Atum returned to Earth and took the aspect of Ammon Ra. As Ra, Atum sired the Ennead, gods worshiped in ancient Egypt and other parts of Africa. In about 1,000 A.D., Ra attended a gathering of the Council of Godheads to discuss the coming of the Celestials' Third Host.

In recent years, Atum was raised again as the Demogorge by Ahpuch and other death gods. Thor, Indra, Tawa, Apollo, Shango, and Quetzalcoatl were sent to defeat it.

Atum was contacted by Thor to aid Earth's heroes in a battle against the returning Set. Thor fought Atum and forced his transformation into Demogorge. As Demogorge, Atum defeated Set once again and then returned to the sun.

During the Skrull invasion of Earth, Atum joined the God Squad at the behest of Athena to fight the Skrull gods. He consumed the Skrull goddess Sl'gyr't, but Sl'gur't contained the essences of countless gods, which overloaded the Demogorge and caused him to unexpectedly explode. His spine was later used by Snowbird to kill the Skrull god Kly'bn.

Thor and two other gods encountered Atum as the Demogorge during a trip through a placed beyond time and space where forgotten gods went to after they die and were consumed by Demogorge. Thor and his allies were swallowed by the Demogorge and fought their way through a graveyard where the gods Demogorge consumed were forever trapped in tendrils that clouded their minds. Thor eventually defeated the Demogorge by striking his heart with Mjolnir and escaped back to Earth through a portal.

- First of my revamps. I wanted to update Black Adam to be more inline with the Nu52 Captain Marvel, but since I detest the history of the Nu52 version I kept it the same. :)

- i like this as it fleshed out his actual powers more than just the flying brick version previously. It also gave the damn "Power of Zeus" something to actually do this time around.

Black Lantern Corps

Post by Sidious »

Image

Background:
The Black Lantern Corps are the slain and deceased beings from throughout the universe who fell into the domain of the dead. They are the army of Nekron, the Lord of the Unliving, and their purpose is to eliminate all life.

The Black Lantern Rings are wielded by the deceased. The symbol on Black Power Rings is the same symbol used by Green Lantern super-villain Black Hand (a triangle pointing downward, with five lines radiating upward from the base). The black rings also symbolizes a total absence of emotion and life. Black Lantern Ring-possessed sentients are driven by a need to take the hearts of those who will be most emotionally affected by their return, to use the power of the emotions of those hearts to bring about the return of Nekron.

In the beginning, the darkness had been in existence long before the birth of the universe until during the dawn of time it was banished by the white light of creation. Even though the darkness failed to fight back the white light, it caused the white light to splinter into the Emotional Spectrum. Though defeated, the darkness would return to continue its fight against creation.

The return of the darkness was foretold in a prophecy known as the "Blackest Night" by the Five Inversions of Ysmault, the enemies of the Guardians of the Universe. The prophecy was not taken seriously by the Guardians of the Universe, except by Green Lantern Abin Sur, who made several visits to the Five Inversions to learn more about the prophecy and coming to the conclusion that the Blackest Night must be prevented from happening. To this end, Abin Sur took custody of the Inversion Atrocitus in order to find the bearer of "The Black" on Earth. However, Sur was killed and Atrocitus discovered the bearer, the human William Hand. Atrocitus sought to claim the power from Hand, but foiled by Green Lantern Thaal Sinestro and Sur's successor Hal Jordan. The series of events lead William Hand to becoming the villainous Black Hand and eventually the creation of the Black Lantern Corps.

After the battle with the Sinestro Corps, Superman-Prime hurled the Anti-Monitor into space, who then crashed on an unknown planet and was encased within a Black Central Battery by an unknown being.

After the female Guardian was scarred by the Anti-Monitor, she became connected to the Guardian of Death - Nekron, Lord of the Unliving, as the poison of the wound spread and slowly killed her, making her vulnerable to the machinations of the Black. This Guardian would later become known as Scar. Scar from this point on would dedicate herself to death and the darkness. It began by tearing the Guardians apart from the inside out. Deep beneath Oa's surface, Scar prophesied the coming of the Blackest Night with her Book of the Black. Meanwhile, Nekron released a massive number of Black Lantern Rings into the universe headed for Earth and Oa. Both Scar and this Guardian then guided Black Hand through the murder of his family and his own suicide. After that, Black Hand would be reborn as the Herald of the Black Lanterns and the Blackest Night began.

At the same moment, a countless number of Black Rings began to emerge from the black power battery and search the universe for bearers. The Green Lanterns could not stop them as they simply broke through their shields like tissue paper. The Guardians of the Universe, knowing that the Blackest Night was upon them and could not be prevented, attempted to call a code black and summon all Green Lanterns back to Oa. However, Scar intervened and savagely attacked her fellow guardians one by one.

Black power rings descended upon the dead all over the universe, but especially in Earth's solar system. One breaches J'onn J'onzz's tomb on Mars, reanimating the Martian Manhunter. He flew to Gotham City and attacked Hal Jordan and Barry Allen. Reanimated corpses of Elongated Man and Sue Dibny ambushed and killed Hawkman and Hawkgirl, killing them both and revealing what the Black Lanterns were after. They were after the hearts of the living at the peaks of their emotions to power their black battery. Black power rings immediately reanimated Hawkman and Hawkgirl. The first Firestorm also became a Black Lantern. Aquaman rose from his grave, attacking Mera and Tempest along with the deceased Dolphin and Tula. Garth's hopeful heart was torn from him, and he became another Black Lantern while Mera escaped. More dead rose all over Earth. Kal-L rose from his grave, attacking Smallville. Deadman saw his own corpse rise. The Spectre's host, Crispus Allen, was even taken by the Corps. Don Hall proved to be the only dead the Black Lantern Corps could not take, because he was at such peace. Hank Hall was not such a problem to reanimate. The Doom Patrol was soon confronted by Black Lanterns Joshua Clay, Negative Woman and Celsius. Booster Gold was attacked by Ted Kord. Vril Dox met up with Black Lanterns Harbinger and Vril's wife Stealth. Justice League Detroit members Vibe and Commander Steel became a Black Lantern, as well as Outsiders member Katana's deceased family.

Elsewhere, black power rings breached the Green Lantern tomb on Oa and reanimated all of their honored dead. Not only that, but Jade appeared before Kyle Rayner as a Black Lantern. Amon Sur rose from the dead, leading an army of deceased Sinestro Corps soldiers to Zamaron to confront Sinestro. On Okaara, Agent Orange and his Orange Light were surrounded by Black Lanterns risen from the dead of the Orange Lantern Corps, and black power rings rained down on Ysmault, where the Red Lantern Corps called home. The Black Lantern Corps was assaulting all of the lights of the Emotional Spectrum it could find with Scar directing the war from Ryut. Quickly, the Star Sapphire Corps on Zamaran fell. Then the Indigo Tribe appear, finally making the Indigo Light of Compassion known. Scar commanded that every Black Lantern that could be spared to go after the Indigo Light.

With the death of Damage on Earth, the Black Lanterns' Central Battery reached 100% capacity. It then transported itself from Ryut to Coast City on Earth, where Nekron rose. Earth's heroes assembled to fight him, and soon they were joined by Lanterns representing every color in the Emotional Spectrum. None of them could stop Nekron and his Black Lantern Corps. The attempts to destroy the Central Battery appeared only to make it even stronger. Nekron claimed that none of the resurrected heroes had truly escaped death. He allowed them all to return and kept them connected to him. The rise of an apparent Black Lantern Batman succeeded in creating emotional tethers between Nekron and these resurrected heroes, unleashing more black power rings. Superman, Wonder Woman, Ice, Donna Troy, Kid Flash, Superboy, Animal Man and Green Arrow were all taken by rings and transformed into Black Lanterns. Rings also went after Hal Jordan and Barry Allen. Barry was able to flash himself and Hal two seconds into the future to avoid the rings. Wonder Woman, however, was set free from the Black Lantern Ring when a Star Sapphire Ring went upon her finger.

Even when some select heroes and villains of Earth were empowered by power rings, Nekron proved unbeatable. The combined light of the Emotional Spectrum had no effect upon him, and he called the entire Black Lantern Corps from all over the universe to Earth, including the dead planet Xanshi. All of the living Lantern Corps united to try to hold the line against the Black Lanterns, but the risen dead far outnumbered the living. Nekron sacrificed the life of a Guardian and revealed why he had targeted Earth of all places. Earth was where life first appeared in the universe and where the Entity hid. Nekron intended to destroy it and all life by extension.

Sinestro intervened by bonding with the Entity and becoming the first White Lantern. Wielding the power of the white light, he fought Nekron on an equal footing and seemingly destroyed him. However, Nekron could not die because he did not live. Nekron tore Sinestro and the Entity apart from each other as the Black Lantern Corps swarmed for the final assault on life itself. It was Deadman who exposed the key to defeating them, pointing to the Black Hand as Nekron connection to the world of the living. Hal Jordan made contact with the Entity next, and it bonded not only to him but to all of the resurrected heroes, freeing them from the Black Lantern Corps. These new White Lanterns turned their focus on the Black Hand and returned him to life, severing the Black Lantern Corps' connection to the living world.

Nekron was destroyed in an explosion of white light, and his Black Lantern Corps fell. The only exceptions were those sought out by twelve white power rings and brought back to life rather than be returned to death. Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Jade, Maxwell Lord, Professor Zoom, Hawk, Ronnie Raymond, Captain Boomerang, Osiris, Deadman, Hawkman and Hawkgirl stood no longer as dead Black Lanterns but living beings once again.

Somehow, a remnant of the Black Lantern Corps endured within the Firestorm matrix with Ronnie Raymond and Jason Rusch. This remnant eventually took the physical form of the Black Lantern Firestorm, referred to as Deathstorm, and stole the White Lantern Power Battery following the commands of an unknown source and began to corrupt it. To aid in this mysterious agenda, Deathstorm recreated several of his fellow Black Lanterns.

All were subsequently destroyed when Firestorm came to retrieve the White Lantern from them and the Anti-Monitor.

The White Lantern reveals Swamp Things original history. It reveals that Alec Holland was a researcher in the amazon when he was killed when his lab exploded. Contrary to what everyone believes, Alec was not reborn as Swamp Thing. When he died his hope, ambition and hatred of pollution was imprinted on nature, thus Swamp Thing was born, believing it was Allec Holland and began defeating polluting tyrants. The White Lantern explains that after the Blackest Night, Nekron's desires and hatred was imprinted on the earth instead of Alec Holland. Swamp Thing then rises, powered by death and believing he is Nekron. He begins destroying life on earth, until the white lantern transforms Firestorm, Hawkman and Hawkgirl, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter into the avatars of Fire, Air, Water, and Earth to combat the new Avatar of Death. It then resurrects the true Alec Holland and transforms him into the Swamp Thing and has it combat the Black Lantern Swamp Thing.

HISTORY
In the Hyborian Age, a meteorite landed on Earth. It was controlled by an ancient entity which called itself the Hellfire Helix. The Helix sent its agent, Tae Kwan S'yn, to find a host for it. However, a local human found the rock first, and fought Tae Kwan S'yn for possession. In the fight, the meteor was smashed, a part of it was embedded in the human's chest and the explosion also killed the nameless man's tribe. The man vowed revenge on Tae Kwan S'yn. Because of the gem in his chest, he became an immortal later known as Ulysses Bloodstone.

Bloodstone would travel all over the world, looking for Tae Kwan S'yn. Because of Tae Kwan S'yn's ability to summon monsters, Bloodstone gained a reputation as a monster hunter. The vendetta ended when it was revealed that the Hellfire Helix had needed a host, and had chosen Bloodstone. Bloodstone killed himself and Tae Kwan S'yn to prevent the Helix creature from coming to Earth.

Twenty years ago Bloodstone met and married a woman named Elise, who adopted his last name. Eventually Elise gave birth to his daughter Elsa. Ulysses and Elise separated when Elsa was two years old. Ulysses distanced himself from both, and Elsa never knew him as she grew up. Bloodstone trusted Adam to give his daughter Elsa a fragment of the Bloodgem in a choker when she was old enough. After Ulysses left, Elise and Elsa traveled across Europe. Eventually they settled in England, where Elsa schooled. Elsa began to have increasingly frequent dreams about monsters, such as vampires. Eventually she and her mother learned of Ulysses' death, and they flew to Boston to settle his estate.

Elsa and Elise arrived at Blood-stone House, where they were given a tour by the executor of Ulysses' estate, Charles Barnabas. Exploring the house, Elsa discovered a secret chamber, in which she encountered Adam, the Frankenstein Monster, who told her about her father. Adam gave her the Bloodstone Choker, which attached itself to her neck. She then grabbed a flashing lamp, and when she wished she knew why it was flashing, she was transported to Bosnia, into the midst of a struggle between Dracula and the Nosferati.

Dracula recognizes the Bloodgem fragment and attacked Elsa, but is blasted away by the Bloodstone Choker. Dracula was then impaled by the Nosferatu, who took him away, while Adam returns Elsa to Bloodstone House. Adam later designed a costume for Elsa, patterned after her father's. The two then had the lamp transport them to Egypt, where they meet N'Kantu, the Living Mummy. Elsa later con-fronts Nosferatu himself, who bites her but is destroyed by the Bloodgem energy in her blood. She and her allies free Dracula who then exposed the Nosferati to sunlight, destroying them.

Elsa lived in Bloodstone Manor with her mother and ally Adam the Frankenstein Monster, she had befriended Charles Barnabus a pureblood vampire lawyer and executor of the Bloodstone estate. Pursuing a monster-hunting occupation, she began an online blog to create an electronic encyclopedic reference guide for the numerous monsters and alien beasts in the world.

Elsa Bloodstone dyed her hair red and joined the team Nextwave in their fight against The Beyond Corporation.

Elsa said she comes from 'a line of near-immortal monster hunters', and had been trained by her father and an android nanny called 'Hate Mother' to fight supernatural evils since infancy. Her relationship with Ulysses Bloodstone seemed to have been wildly abusive.

She was an expert markswoman, and often carried two shotguns and two handguns, sometimes stowed in a guitar case.

After her exploits with Nextwave, Elsa returned to her monster hunting ways. She hunted down the Children of Goram to Prague where she was impregnated by one of the monsters, but the Bloodgem killed the offspring while it was inside her and she puked it up. She killed all the monsters and vowed to kill all monsters before she died (also vowing to be the last of the Blood-stone line, never to have a child).

In between her monster hunting, Elsa became a staff member of the Braddock Academy.

When a being known as the Dreaming Maiden started dreaming again, Elsa was drawn to track her down, due to her father being a member of the Covenant, a group that tried to kill the Maiden years ago but did not succeed in doing so, due to deception by the assassin they hired, Wolverine. This led her to search out the Maiden to finish her father's work which brought her into contact with Wolverine in the present day. It also brought her into direct confrontation with Covenant members Murderous Lion, Jefferson Chambers, Wyatt Crowley, and a new female version of the Menace. After the Maiden had been killed, Vanessa Baker, another previous member of the Covenant, brought her and the other members together to "get back to business."

In the wake of the World War Hate, Doctor Doom's personality was inverted, along with that of numerous heroes and villains. After having seen the errors of his ways, Doom planned to redeem himself.

After the Avengers disappeared, having being captured by the inverted and evil Avengers Unity Division, Doom tasked Valeria Richards with the mission to assemble a group of certain available heroes, including Elsa, each having specific skills which could be utilized.

The new Avengers assembled in Doctor Doom's Castle, and jumped into action when the now-evil Scarlet Witch arrived to Latveria to have revenge on Doom.

The Avengers fought the Scarlet Witch and saved villagers trapped in the crossfire. 3-D Man managed to get hold of the Witch and take her to a machine Doctor Doom had created to specifically canalize her abilities. Soon after being put into the machine, the Scarlet Witch escaped and set out to find Doom, leaving the Avengers behind. After condensing a portion of Scarlet Witch's powers into the device, Valeria informed the heroes their job was done.

Elsa was in Peru and found a prophecy that told of the Monster King all the monsters fear. She then discovered that a kid named Kei Kawade was somehow responsible for the invasion and paid him a visit. She then took Kei to the Inhumans to examine his abilities. When an-other wave of monsters arrived, Elsa and other heroes protected Kei from monsters attacking the S.H.I.E.L.D. base Triskelion off the coast of New York City.

HISTORY
The man who would one day call himself Bloodstone was born about ten thousand years ago, at the dawn of the Hyborian Age, into a small nomadic tribe who occupied the area that would one day be called Scandinavia. One of his tribe's foremost hunters, Bloodstone was hunting for food one day when he encountered the extra dimensional being Ulluxy'l Kwan Tae Syn, the guardian of the bloodstone. An unearthly crystal which had recently materialized on Earth, it housed the Hellfire Helix, a non-organic life form from another universe that possessed great mystical power; in order to exist within Earth's Dimension, the Helix had to encase itself within the protective crystal. But the intentions and motivations of the Helix were evil; in particular, it de-sired to conquer Earth, and to this end required a native life form to be its agent. Thus its servant Ulluxy'l lured Bloodstone to its lair and offered the savage a portion of the gem's power. Irradiated by the bloodstone, the hunter was endowed with superhuman strength. Returning to his tribe, he demonstrated his power, and told his awestruck people how they too might acquire his gift. The entire tribe accompanied him back to Ulluxy'l's lair and were arranged in formation before the gem. There-upon the bloodstone bombarded the assembled human beings with its energies, psychically absorbing their minds while killing their bodies.

When Bloodstone realized what was happening, he lunged upon the gem, causing it to explode into hundreds of fragments. One of these geometrically perfect pieces em-bedded itself into Bloodstone's sternum; the others were scattered across the planet. The hunter's en-tire tribe had been destroyed by the evil power of the Helix, but he him-self had become virtually immortal. Dedicating himself to exacting revenge upon the being he held responsible for his people's death, he eventually took the name Ulysses Bloodstone. Ulluxy'l determined to locate and gather the many fragmented of the great gem in order to one day reassemble it.

For a hundred centuries, the two antagonists pursued their goals. To keep Bloodstone from reaching him, Ulluxy'l dispatched hordes of extra-dimensionally born monsters to kill him. Bloodstone managed to triumph over the many creatures sent against him, but he only succeeded in locating his arch-foe a handful of times over the millenniums. When he lost Ulluxy'l's trail completely, and was not involved in learning new languages, skills, or knowledge, Bloodstone would induce suspensions of his animation upon himself, which sometimes lasted for up to a century at a time.

By the early 20th Century, Ulluxy'l had assembled all but four of the gem's fragments, while Bloodstone had acquired a fortune through mercenary work and shrewd in-vestments.

In 1959, he was recruited into the Avengers alongside the Silver Sa-ble by Nick Fury due to their hunting skills and prowess. The newly formed team then traveled to Helsingborg, Sweden, in pursuit of the Red Skull and his Fourth Reich. The group hijacked a Nazi truck bound for the Skull's castle head-quarters, with Bloodstone and the others hiding in the back while the Silver Sable drove. When the truck's doors were opened, the team jumped out and opened fire on the unprepared Nazis. As the Avengers stormed the castle, they found a Nazi Captain America impostor who attacked them. Blood-stone, Sable, Dominic Fortune and Fury remained in the now burning castle to deal with this threat while the rest of the Avengers searched for the fleeing Red Skull. The he-roes soon overpowered and killed the impostor while Namora succeeded in capturing the Red Skull. Nick Fury then took the contents of the Red Skull's briefcase and left, telling the rest of the team that he would meet up with him later before disappearing for over a month. When he resurfaced, he gathered the Avengers together at the Stork Club in New York City to congratulate them on a job well done. After dinner, the members each went their separate ways with Bloodstone convincing Silver Sable to accompany him to the Savage Land with the prospect of doing some "big game hunting."

By the latter half of the 20th Century, Bloodstone had established headquarters in six different locations across the globe, each of which he had equipped with hand-picked operatives. His main base of operations was the small Pacific isle he called Bloodstone Island. Blood-stone had become very proficient at modern weaponry as well as ap-plied technology.

Ulluxy'l, in the meantime, had been contracted by a group calling itself the Conspiracy; unknown to the extra-dimensional being, the very Hellfire Helix that he served had organized it. Ulluxy'l was suspicious of the Conspirators and how they had learned of the mystic gem, but he found that he had no choice but to cooperate with them. Requiring only two gem fragments to complete the crystal, one of which was the fragment embedded in Blood-stone's chest, Ulluxy'l stepped up his attacks on Bloodstone, with the resources of the Conspiracy aiding him. Ulluxy'l was killed during his attack on Bloodstone Island, how-ever, by the evolved human scientist called Centurius, who sought Ulluxy'l's place in the five-person Conspiracy. After vanquishing a number of the Conspiracy's agents, Bloodstone was taken captive by the human sorcerer Kaballa, another of the five Conspiracy members, in his lair beneath Central Park.

Bloodstone was then told that the Helix had purposely chosen him as its recipient ten millenniums ago so that it might have a mobile host through which to observe the evolving human species. To that end, Ulluxy'l had served as his eternal nemesis, giving Bloodstone reason to wander the globe and come into contact with all walks of humanity. The Helix no longer required Blood-stone for that purpose, and it had organized the Conspiracy, with promises of immortality and power, to dress the stage for the next phase of its plan. His will subverted, Bloodstone submitted to a surgical operation by a third Conspiracy member, the surgeon Dr. Juden Bardham. This operation removed the bloodstone fragment from Bloodstone's chest, killing him in the process. But owing to his ten thou-sand years of symbiosis with the bloodstone fragment, Ulysses Bloodstone's spirit did not fully leave his body at his physical death, and his corpse still possessed residual energy from that symbiosis.

After they had the remaining piece of the Bloodgem, the five Conspirators joined it to the assembled gem in a magical ceremony. But evil to an atrocity, the Helix had deluded the Conspirators with its promise of power, and it simply used their special natural energies to bond together its fragments. In the process, the Conspirators's bodies were destroyed. Bloodstone rose zombie-like from the operating table on which he had died and instinctively sought out the restored bloodstone. Mystically entering the consciousness of the Helix, Bloodstone obsessively found the Hellfire Helix itself, and managed by sheer psychic strength to destroy it. The Helix dissipated, the crystalline body it had been building for itself shat-tered into dust and pebbles that retained none of the evil extra-dimensional magic-mystical energy the intact Bloodgem had possessed, and the essences of the Conspirators died. This had the effect of causing Ulysses Bloodstone's spirit to leave his body fully, so that he was finally truly dead at last. The corpse of Ulysses Blood-stone instantly resumed its true age and crumbled into dust. As he succumbed to his destruction, he did so having finally exacted his revenge on the true being who had killed his entire tribe ten thousand years before.
