Sidious' FASERIP Builds: New Builds

Hey guys! I've been doing a bunch of builds for the old Marvel Superheroes RPG lately and have been combining those with builds I've had for... well.. longer than I care to recall. ;) So I combined then all into a huge file. I shared them to the FB group but as Facebook's limit is 100 megs for a file, and I have somewhere around 500 builds in the file alone, I thought I'd put them up in a thread. Now not to worry I wont be doing it all at once but I will be putting them up in some blocks.

Also since photobucket has became a pita, I'll be linking through flicker. hopefully they wont kill it.

-Wanted to start off with a little test (dad joke. get it?)

-The Atom has been around FOREVER. He's a silver age character that has weathered the changing times and comic tastes. He's been a silver age science hero, a sword and sorcery hero, been replaced, came back, fled to a different universe... he's been through it all.

- Power wise he's pretty good. shrinking is one of those over looked powers, IMHO. When you can get down to atomic size and smaller things get interesting. Heck shrinking down to cell size can provide a whole lot of opportunities, if the user is smart. And Ray is smart. He built his own powers, he teaches physics at a university, he's the JLA's go to science guy... heck, he's BATMAN's go to science guy.

- Barda's a New God, one of Kirby's inventions. She once was one of Darkseid's warriors, even lead his Female Furies. Then found Tew Wuv with Mr Miracle and renounce Apokolips for wedded bliss.

- Barda had been a long time friend of the JLA joining during Morrison's Pantheon era. She took the Athena spot. She can be a bit hot headed, but is a capable fighter.

I'm fuzzy on my FASERIP, but I think Barda should be a little stronger and a little better at fighting. I'm trying to remember, Thing had Monstrous/75 strength, maybe? Barda should be at least Thing class, although DC's scale is vastly different from Marvel's. Still, she's at least comparable (in the same general league) as Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter.

Fighting, she's an elite hand to hand combatant, one of the best Apokalips ever produced. What's Captain America's F rating? Or maybe Daredevil would be a closer approximation.

Anyway, just some thoughts, from a brain that hasn't looked at that game system in many, many years.

I'm good on the Inc fighting for Barda that seems solid But yeah I agree she should be amazing minimum on her strength and End monstrous top end, she was easily up there brick wise

and with that said I LOVE FASERIP builds so looking forward to more :D

I hear ya guys. at the time this was written, She was supposed to be just under Wonder Woman in strength. At that time WW had Amazing str (converted stats from the DC game, she had an 18 str). So Barda's strength of 10 in DC worked out to be Incredible (40) in Marvel.

Now that Wonder Woman has gone up to at min Monstrous (75) (Conservatively, Unearthly if you are being looser in interpretation). She should be around Amazing NOW.

Mind you this is an old build so it reflects that point in time. I certainly have nothing against raising her to Amazing, I just dislike a lot of power creep.

Amazing (50) strength allows a bench of 50 tons. that's pretty much the max I'd give her.

Cap's fighting is Amazing, Daredevil's is Incredible. Incredible is what her stat conversion worked out to be so I'm going to stay with that.

Oh cool! Nice to see another RPG represented, even though I can never remember the delineations of FASERIP :).

PS... did that line ever have an official name? People always call it "FASERIP" after the power settings and how they appeared on the graph, but did it have a regular name beyond that?

So I made mention of it before and figured I'd post it here. These are my Mayfair DC (2nd & 3rd ed, Also Blood of Heroes) conversion rules to Marvel Superheroes.

1 - Feeble (2)
2 - Poor (4)
3 - Typical (6)
4 - Good (10)
5 - Excellent (20)
6 - 8 - Remarkable (30)
9 - 12 - Incredible (40)
13 - 18 - Amazing (50)
19-23 - Monstrous (75)
24 - 26 - Unearthly (100)
27 - Shift X (150)
28 - Shift Y (200)
29 - Shift Z (500)
30-39 - CL 1000 (or shift x depending on character)
40 - 49 - CL 3000 (or shift y, depending on character)
50 + Cl 5000 (or shift z depending)

Body rating:

ap 6 - rm/30 end
ap 7 - rm/30 end, gd/10 resistance
ap 8 - rm/30 end, ex/20 resistance
ap 9 - in/40 end, rm/30 resistance
ap 10 in/40 end, in/40 resistance

after 10 ap's it follows the above chart. Also the body resistance is only dependent on the character, if they've never shown a resistance then they don't get one.

Fighting: equal to or +/-1 cs to dex
agility: same as fighting
Strength: obvious
Endurence: equal to body or strength which ever is more appropriate

Reason: Int + Aura + Mind /3, follow above chart
Intuition: Initative/3, super speedsters take the higher number
Psyche: Infl + Will + Spirit/3


usually all these numbers even out, as for the fighting see if the character is more of a brawler or more of an acrobat. things are subject to revision if the character doesn't make anysense but generally it works out right.

For First Edition DC:
ok this one is a bit more complex as many of the powers do not translate well without using a bit of imagination. the first Ed DC game had less thought put into it and wasn't bad for a first ed but the later ones were the real gems.

more or less things are the same as the conversion for the later system. The only difference begins when you reach around 20 aps.

20 - 30 Incredible
31 - 40 Amazing
41 - 48 Monsterous
49 - 50 Unearthly

The old system requires a bit more free thinking and willingness to play fast and loose with the rules a bit.

this edition also was a pre-crisis version of the game, meaning that they had all the alternate worlds that many of us grew up with. With that revision, the power levels also went down leaving very few characters with any ability over 30 much less in the 50's.

Lots of name changes abound as well, the origonal powers also need name changes, things like Bio-energy Blast and Starbolt being basically identical.

what all this boils down to is that the person doing the conversions have to be less ridged and more willing to play with the system. They also have to accept that some stats will come out a bit skewed and need revision after more information is available. It's definitly a system for the creative mind to explore and play with.

For a more accurate and (marvel) realistic system i would reccomend converting the 2nd & 3rd editions of the game. the Third being the more reliable of the 3. Along with the Who's Who guides and the source books available for those systems there shouldn't be to hard a time finding stats for almost anyone.

Most call it the Classic Marvel Superhero RPG or CMSH. Jeff Grubb created it and, as far as I know, it hasn't been used for another system nor given a specific name.

-So this guy was a member of the JLA for a blink and you'll miss it time in the early 90's.

- He's a heroic Necromancer... yeah. On his debut he was actually a prisoner in that gem on his neck and being impersonated by the Martian Manhunter. As him being a Martian is just slightly better than him being a heroic Necromancer... I went with that.

- some of you may be scratching your heads at the "Skrull Eternals" bit. I try to have a one universe view of things and try to get them to fit as best I can. Hence you'll be seeing Kryptonians and Daxamites as Eternals as well as their powers fit the classic Eternal mold rather perfectly. I promise I'll elaborate on it at some point in the future, for now just go with it, pls.
