Nova Espers

Nova Espers are an interesting branch of Quantum theory that surrounds Novas in that unlike most Nova Powers theirs are not so overt. Theyre also generally considered one of the scarier groups of Novas due to their powers being so subtle and affecting the minds like they can. A nova with mega social attributes can already twist people around their little finger with little effort, but imagine someone who can do it with a thought. A mega perceptive nova can read people like a book, a telepathic one can have the person read their thoughts back to them like a movie with pictures and subtitles. Naturally a lot of laws have popped up regarding Nova Abilities and how they can be used in society especially regarding so called Psionic or extra sensory perception abilities.

Most Espers aren't that easy to mod as much beyond their skill sets or physical capabilities, theyre all about the mind and how to read and or manipulate it. GMs should bare this in mind when throwing even a low level esper against a player group, fortunately their fragile a bit so a good shot can lay one out, but smart ones don't go right out on the field they hang back and fight from a distance. adding Telekinesis to an Esper is a way to make your classic Omni Psionic, and Holo can create psionic illusions.

As a side note regarding Psions, Espers ARE NOT Psions nor are they related in any way. Psions are more pure Psionics then Nova espers who use quantum energy to go into peoples minds by tapping the quantum field generated by everything. Psions use biotic energy on a more fundamental level.

Nova Paragons

Quite Possibly one of the most iconic powersets in evidence since the Galatea explosion, just ask anyone and the name they'll mention most is "Most Powerful Nova in the World" Caestus Pax, while this title is oft disputed at length and sometimes violently by some what cant be argued is the raw power some of these Paragons have. Paragons are some of the most direct and physical of Novas outside Bricks or Blasters. they can change the course of rivers, leap tall buildings in a single bound, and pull a kitten from a tree like no ones business. So if you want power, and speed and good looks all in one package LOOK!! Up in the sky! Its a Bird, No its a plane!, No its a Paragon, up, up and away!

Nova Paragons are relatively simple designs basically slightly less tough and strong bricks who can fly and move faster then most bricks can by a fair margin. Most paragons also demonstrate some sort of Energy projection power, usualy from the eyes but hands have also been seen. Skys the limit really with a Paragon.

Also paragons tend to be charismatic and beautiful as far as Novas go so they will be the subject of attention a lot and draw all sorts of paparazzi in their own ways.

Nova Speedsters

On your marks, get set ZOOOOM!! Nova Speedsters are the fastest novas in the world easily and more then one city has a scarlet speedster or other color running around its streets. A lot of Novas with these powers make great livings as couriers and transport specialists thanks to the ability to be on one coast one minute and on the other coast the next. Speed Novas tend to show up a lot in papparazi shots due to being nearly everywhere at will, and their passports get a lot of miles.

Nova speedsters can be a nightmare for players to fight they have 4-5 free actions per turn that do not suffer multi action dice pool penalties and act with a massive initiative bonus, while hitting hard and then being gone out of range the next moment. They can be nearly impossible to hit. Fortunately once you actually land a hit on them they aren't that tough and can be squished fairly easily.

Modding a speedster is not entirely dififcult simply choose what type of speed demon your have and add in any extras such as lightning bolts or portal based attacks.

Also as a side note as a house rule running on water requires at least hyper speed 1, while running up walls is hyper speed 3, both can be acquired as a Body Modification to the hyper speed power.

Nova Shape Shifters

Nova Shape changers are an amazing variety of character. they literally come in all shapes and sizes often several at once depending on their powers an whims. Everything from growing to impressive heights, to changing to animals to becoming an armored or stone colossus. With Shape changers almost anything's possible.

Modding shape changers is a bit of work for a GM due to the sheer incredible number of possibilities, it can be a bit overwhelming. Still worth it though. Mainly you choose how the Nova changes, growth stretch etc. Then apply the appropriate soak totals and any skills or attributes as desired. Shapeshifters are incredibly fluid in design (sometimes quite literally in the case of hydro changers)

I question the need for a Nova Paragon template, surely it's simple to add Flight to a Brick.

its a little deeper then just flight. It takes more to the Charisma and appearance of the FISS Paragon, adding in the potential for heat vision etc. Bricks are a little more focused in the I'm big and tough, while Paragons are meant to be a little faster and more capable.

Also its a just being thorough and providing Storytellers with as many tools as needed.

When Galatea exploded and Novas first appeared no one knew that these events would change the face of war forever. Once on the brink of nuclear armageddon, the Rise of Team Tommorow and Project Utopia lead to unprecedented Nuclear Disarmament. Most nations agreed on this course due to the extreme high cost of maintaining the weapons and the threat of cybertech novas who could influence people and machinery to cause an accidental or intentional launch which could devestate a city or nation.

In 2001 though a series of brushfire conflicts erupted in south and central africa which would be known as the Equatorial Wars. At first msotly these wars were typical conflicts for the region with warlords and political powers and tribal entitiies jockeying for power, over assorted religious, political and survival reasons. ordinarily these wars would displace civilians and lead to multiple shifts in power in the nations involved. One of these small warlords though would change this drastically. In Nigeria General Akinlawon Ogolongwe would hire an Elite named Totentaz from the Devries agency to help his forces. Totentaz would all but single handedly eliminate two of the Generals biggest rivals and the Generalw as well on his way to uniting the country under his rule as well as annexing some of his smaller neighbors.

Soon other countries hired one or two Elites for their own use--all they could afford really--, and soon the conflicts rendered the use of normal human troops almost secondary to the number of Elties a Country could field and how Powerful they were. In the subsequent battle Elites razed entire towns, destroyed swaths of land, dropped bridges on each other, and killed each other in messy spectacular droves. Countries able to afford more novas soon swallowed up smaller countries, and threatened to turn Africa into a near total warzone if not stopped.

Team Tommorow was asked to intervene once the shocking footage of Novas killing each other was revealed, and with his usual Bravado Caestus Pax claimed they would bring peace to the area quickly, with Team Tommorow Europe and Members of the Team Tommorow Auxilleries in tow they set off to break up the fighting.

And it was a disaster, which would lead to Team Tommorows first and to date only decisive defeat. The Elites were too well paid to stop fighting, and were battle hardened and experienced and powerful in their own rights, and now had a common enemy in T2M. Many of them working for Devries combined their efforts and in a brutal battle that would see Caestus Pax and Brazillian hero Pele, and four others badly wounded, and Young Hero Hiram"Slag" Goldberg, as well as Elaine whirlwind Nance, and Bradly "Brute Strong" Steiner killed in action.

The sight of these Paranormal Soldiers who were used to playing rough and for keeps making the shining heroes of T2m look like utter chumpsand rookies was shocking to most of the world, and caused the whole peacekeeping operation to collapse like a house of cards. But even more shocking to those in the know was how the footage was edited to show that depsite tough opposition and close calls T2M always came out on top as the victors despite the footage of the battles setting viewing records worldwide.

No one knew that Team Tommorow had been decisively defeated, and to this day the only proof of the loss is that Elites still fight on in the worlds wars, and T2m adopted and Iron clad policy that prohibits them from entering any crisis where they dont outnumber the opposition at least 2 to 1.

Elites live, lives just as if not more Glamerous then most Nova stars, and many fo them are the darlings of social media for their exiting adventures and ofen brutaly straight forward look at things. former Wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin who erupted and signed on with Devries adapted his foul mouthed bad boy persona to his elite work and remains one of the most popular to this day.

Most Elites work for Devries but a staggering nnumber of smaller companies employ Novas in various capacites from Security, to Bodyguarding t, and Bounty hunting, to anti terrorist actions world wide.

As long as theres money to be made in battle Nova Elites will be in the mix.

Nova Elites represent Mercanaries Novas who use their powers primarily to fight wars and other nations battle for money. Famous Novas like Totentaz, or Pursuer, or the Stone Bad @ss fly all over the world at the behest of their clients and rake in Billions anually for Devries.

Elites tend to be different from the prior Builds due to an increase in training over raw power, and the use fo armor, and weapons and gadgets designed for the battlefield. If a GM jsut wants a standard Nova on Nova Battle any of the prior templates will work fine. But if the GM wants to get into some serious dangerous fighting for the players these bad boys and girls are the way to go.

Nova Elites are dangerous on several levels, mostly they work together as well oiled teams, or as dangerous experienced solo operatives. A fight against a Nova Elite should be a risky and dangerous fight for a Nova team, especially a new team but still winnable if they play it smart.

Some of these Templates could be adopted to regular nova levels, and vice versa some of thes regular ones could be used for Elites. A prime exmaple of this is the Scrapper who by rote is one of the most common Nova Elites around. just add appropriate gadgets and weapons to the scrapper template and there you go.

Nova Elite Heavies

Nova Elite heavies are the Tanks of the Elite Battlefield. These men and women are bruisers who act as Shock troops, heavy weapons support, and Door breachers. they bring down fortresses the old fashioned way by tearing them down with their bare hands. While not as flashy as Blasters or Controllers they are incredibly effective and hard to bring down with makes them worth the money spent on hiring them.

Nova Elite heavies are slightly less strong and tough then their brick or paragon counter parts but they make up for it with better training and skills as well as weapons or gadgets that normal heroes lack.

Modding them is similar to their normal counter parts, just add in flight or more strength and or stamina or armor, or a quantum bolt and you have a walking or flying tank that can dominate the battlefield.

Nova Blaster Elites

The Arial support and heavy artillery of the Nova Wars Elite blasters are the same as their counterparts except better trained. Nova blasters tend to back up their team and provide air support as needed. Videos of blasts of quantum power criss crossing battlefields is legend now and a lot of Blaster type novas re recruited as quickly as they can be.

Modding a blaster Elite is the same essentially as their civilian counter parts. pick a blast type, and let them go. adding in attributes as desired to flesh the character out.

Nova Controller Elites

Again much like their Civilian Counter parts Controllers are among the flashiest of Elites but unlike their Blaster teammates Controllers affect Large swaths of the battlefield and can set up their targets for the heavies or blasters.

Most Controllers are set up as and tend to be Leaders of the strike teams though is not exclusive to them. Modding them like their civilian counter parts is a matter of choosing their elemental type and fleshing the character out with attributes or skills as you see fit. Remember these guys are big and flashy so use them as such.

Nova Speedster Elites

Nova speedster Elites are the scouts and force multipliers on the battlefield. Able to cover tremendous distance sin a short time, or able to teleport in reinforcements via portal or powers. Speed demons like these can take out entire platoons of troops and dismantle tanks before anyone even knows they've been hit, even more so though they're expert at working with stealth infiltrators to retrieve information or stolen items for the clients.

Modding Elites Speedsters just as with normal speedsters is the same just add appropriate skills and attributes to flesh out, weapons as desired, and choose the speedsters method of transportation.

Nova Elite Jack of all Trades

Elites Jack of all trades or Jacks if you will, are one of the more mysterious and tricky Novas to ever show up on the Elite battlefields, while they dont have any of the raw explosive power of the heavies or Blasters, or the wide area effect of the controllers or the speed of theSpeedsters, they have somehting the others lack.

Versatility. Yep Jacks or Jills if you will, can do a large number of thinsg very well, and mix it up with some odd powersets not usualy seen. they can cause untold havoc especially when backed up by weapons or the righy hardware. and often do. One of the more famous Jacks in the world a Nova named Loki is on video taking down three members of Team Tommorow in a fairly humiliating fashion, while Project Utopia tried to have the video scrubbed, they failed and it remains up to this day. Loki turned the tables on all three heroes with little seeming effort without ever once ourt right overpowering any of them. Another famous shot is of mysterious Nova Elite Cypher 9 taking down Gorehound, the powerhouse Elite was bested in brutally short order by the masked young woman who then showed some professional courtesy and healed his broken body before leaving with her trophy.

Jack of all Trades Elites are novas who dont quite fall into a enat archetype and have powers to match, they are very versatile though combining high skills with powers that subtly alter the fight in their favor, and using gadgets and weapons to maximum effect with their powers. they try to avoid direct confrontations where possible because they arent necesarily tough enough to go toe to toe but they can suprise an opponent who thinks they are glass cannon material very easily.

Modding them is a matter of mixing which power sets they use and providing them with appropriate gear, as well as of course the basics of a costume and code name and personality.

Nova Stealth Elites

Nova Stealth Elites fill a very different role on the battlefield, they're scouts and assassins, spy's and infiltrators. Stealth Elites sneak into the enemies bases and cause random destruction, sabotage and mayhem, then vanish as quickly as they came with no trace. Many a dictator, warlord or Crime boss has found himself going to sleep one night then waking up the next morning in hand cuffs thanks to a Nova Stealth Elite. Extraordinary spies they can get into hidden vaults and hack computer systems or get gadget son to the computers to enable an outside hacker to do so. A cadre of these guys and gals works for Project Utopias Science and Tech Division which has helped them keep ahead of the curve, while AEGIS the main US arm of the directorate employs a few as well.

One thing is consistent about these guys and gals. You never see them coming.


Stealth Elites are sneaks in every sense of the word, they are nearly impossible to find or catch because when it happens they usualy go down to a gentle breeze, so they have to be excpetionally quick and clever. Modding them is msotly the same as the scrapper boosting attributes or skills and giving them a little more hititng power if desired. usualy through powers or gear.
