Here is an updated version of Angel from the old ATT thread. I changed him quite a bit in a few ways, instead of being completely faithful to canon, I made sure he would be able to be playable by MnM's standards. So many things were changed, raised, or omitted altogether. Like Warren's blood which can heal other people, was completely dropped. This little detail is not necessary to the original concept of the character.

Builder's Notes
Banshee changed a little too with this new update. I had to drop a few things, but I was trying to make character's that were more up to par with character creation. I am not all that fond of the character myself, save his power set.A few flight ranks were dropped and upped his fighting ability. Increased his Defense scores as well. And smoothed out his skill ranks. Ended up dropping one of his sonic alt powers, as he already had a power that did a similar thing.

GRIMOIRES & SCROLLS (as equipment)
A grimoire or Scroll is an "easy to loose" magical device that holds spells for the user to wield with the right knowledge and skills. Treat the Grimoire/Scroll like a “Feature”, Scrolls can contain up to 5 spells on them. While a grimoire can hold an even larger number of spells. This feature is a “Set” of instructions which contain a particular spell for the player to use. These spells have set extras, flaws, and any other conditions laid upon them.

Casting a spell from a grimoire requires an Expertise: Arcane roll with a DC of 10+ (twice the cost per rank of the power). Each point you succeed by, allows you to cast the spell with 1 rank of effect up to your magical array Rank.

For Example:
A wizard finds a Grimoire with a spell that allows him to cast a meteor spell, which is a Ranged Damage Effect with the Penetrating and area effect (Blast) extras that does Bludgeon and Heat Damage. This spell costs 4 pts per rank, making the skill necessary to cast it, a difficulty of 18.

Substance Toughness:
Grimoires are “more” sturdy than scrolls, usually. A scroll is generally made of coarse paper or papyrus that has a substance toughness of 0 (unless made of another substance such as clay, stone or copper). A grimoire generally has a substance toughness of 2 or 3, depending on it's construction.

VITALITY & WOUND THRESHOLD
Unlike regular Mutants & Masterminds, there is no toughness defense. And instead incorporates a random damage and hit point style system like D&D does. Vitality is the total “major “ damage your body can sustain before being incapacitated. Your would threshold is the total damage your body can sustain before it becomes dangerous, and then is deducted by your character's Vitality. Your wound threshold is the combination of your training, innate resilience and luck when dealing with damage.

Starting Values
A players starting Vitality score is equal to their "Power Level" plus or minus their stamina score. While players starting wound score is equal to 4 +/- Their Stamina score per Power Level they possess.


Pwers and Skills
Natural Healing: A player recovers 1 wound point for every 2 hours of rest. A player recovers vitality at the rank of 1 point per day. A character heals vitality first before Wound Points.
Medicine Skill: Medicine heals 1d4 wound points or 1 vitality point for every rank of success. The doctor must heal vitality first before any vitality can be healed.
The Regeneration Power: If the character has the regeneration point, you gain 1 wound point over a period of time-based on the ranks in the power (that doesn't require resting).
The Healing power: This power will heal a number of wound points, or vitality points based on their rank in this power.



Combat and Damage
Dice are used for determining the amount of damage done in these game mechanics. The Rank of the weapon or the power is used to determine the type of dice used.

Weapons. RANK 0 = 1d2 damage. RANK 1 = 1d4 damage. RANK 2 = 1d6 damage. RANK 3 = 1d8 damage. RANK 4 = 1d10 damage. RANK 5 = 1d12 damage. RANK 6 = 2d8 damage. RANK 7 = 2d10 damage. RANK 8 = 2d12 damage. Rank 9 = 3d8 damage. RANK 10 = 3d10 damage.

Damage Modifiers. Muscle-Based Weapons get to add their strength ranks onto the final damage roll. Ranged based weapons get to add their Dexterity ranks onto the final damage roll. Weapons that have Penetrating get to add its rank onto the base dice damage was done.

Powers or spell based attacks. All powers do 1d6 damage for every rank they possess. However, a player can take a limitation or extra to change the damage type rolled. Using the d4 instead of the d6 is a -1 limitation. While using the d8 is a +1 extra. Using the d10 would be a +2 extra, and the d12 would be a +3 extra.

Armor Ranks. Ranks in any power or device that enhances toughness, grants 1 point of damage resistance. So plate mail armor now provides 6 points of damage resistance. If this armor or power is Impervious, add those ranks of impervious to the damage resistance.



THE ATTACK ROLL
The Attack roll works very much like it does in Mutants & Masterminds, aside from two factors since there is a “hit point” system now.

The Critical Hit. A “critical hit” will bypass normal damage resistance (but not impervious ranks). A target of a critical hit will suffer not only normal damage, but a point of Vitality damage (regardless of armor and protection, as long as they actually take damage) as well! The player can opt to create a special effect, such as an Affliction, Dazzle or Weaken which will be equal in ranks to either the character's fighting or Dexterity attribute depending on the attack. Dexterity for Ranged attacks, and fighting for melee attacks.

Degree's of Success. Degree's of success now do something different then they would in normal Mutants and Masterminds combat. Each degree of success adds 3 to the total damage done. Plus each degree has a special effect: The 1st degree causes 1 round of the dazed condition. The 2nd degree causes a staggered condition for a number of rounds equal to their ranks in either fighting or Dexterity. For the 3rd degree of success, this causes the target to be incapacitated until he can be tended to.
