Toughness +6 (+4 without Defensive Roll), Fortitude +7, Will +5

COMPLICATIONS:
Disability: He had his hands replaced with the Razor Fists so…he has no hands…not the best career move IMHO, but so be it…And wearing the Razor Fists makes it hard for him to do any fine manipulation.
Enemy: Shang-Chi, Iron Fist.
Reputation: Jobber.

Abilities 54 + Skills 17 (34 ranks) + Advantages 11 + Powers 5 + Defenses 13 = 100 / 100

Build Comments: A fine martial arts themed jobber, Razor-Fist. Visually, he looks pretty wicked, but really, long blades for hands? Not a very well thought out gimmick for true believability, but hey, when has comics ever been about that? Regardless, he's a fun mook throw at your players.

Secret Origins: There have been 3 Razor Fists over the years. William Young, the first Razor-Fist was an assassin, bodyguard, and enforcer employed by Carlton Velcro, working at Velcro's estate on the coast of the Gulf of Lions, southern France. Velcro surgically replaced this man's hands with steel blades. HE battled Shang-Chi, and was accidentally shot to death by Velcro's guards.

Douglas Scott was called Razor-Fist because of his fast punches. He and his brother William took the same title and pretended to be only one person. Each brother lost one hand in a car accident, which were subsequently replaced by long knife-like stabbing weapons by Carlton Velcro. Velcro employed the brothers at his mansion on an island in the Marquesas. The brothers were assigned by Velcro to hunt down Shang-Chi and Pavane. Douglas was accidentally shot to death by Velcro, leaving William as the sole Razor-Fist.

The Story so Far: Sometime after Douglas was killed, William lost his other hand when he came up against Colleen Wing, who managed to sever it during a battle. Razor-Fist later appeared with blades on both hands. He teamed with Zaran and Shockwave to attack the West Coast Avengers on behalf of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Deltites. Razor Fist was defeated by Mockingbird, but he escaped.

Later, he began working for the crime lord Roche in Madripoor and was assigned to kill Wolverine. With the assistance of a mutant pseudo-vampire, he overpowered Wolverine and was able to knock the weakened Wolverine off a cliff. The mutant, Sapphire Styx, had drained all of Wolverine's strength with her vampiric powers. When next they fought, Wolverine barely beat him and appeared to kill him, but somehow Razor Fist's recovered from this seemingly fatal encounter.

Fully recovered, Razor Fist fought Hawkeye in an attempt to collect a reward for Hawkeye's right arm from Crossfire. He was defeated but joined in Crossfire's mass attack on Hawkeye. He was defeated by Mockingbird again and taken into police custody.

Razor Fist was also apparently killed by Elektra when he attempted to claim a bounty that had been put on her head, but again he somehow survived. When he next appeared, battling Spider-Man, he had a set of cybernetic prostheses with blades attached. These were severed and broken by The Cat. After this encounter Razor Fist was sent to prison.

In the wake of the great supervillain breakout in the pages of New Avengers, Razor Fist escaped along with all the other villains. Razor Fist was hired by the Hood to take advantage of the split in the superhero community caused by the Superhuman Registration Act. He later attacked the Enforcers, and Mister Fear's other bodyguards. The fight wass interrupted by Daredevil who took out Wrecker and Razor Fist who is also working for the Hood, unintentionally allowing the Enforcers to escape. He helped them fight the New Avengers but was taken down by Dr. Strange. In the Secret Invasion event, he was among the many supervillains who rejoined the Hood's crime syndicate and attacked an invading Skrull force. He joined with the Hood's gang in an attack on the New Avengers, who were expecting the Dark Avengers instead. Scorcher, Living Laser, Griffin, and Razor Fist were sent by the Hood to retrieve Tigra and Gauntlet after they fled from Norman Osborn. They attacked the heroes, who were ultimately saved by Counter Force.

He was seen during the battle of Camp: HAMMER until the Hood ordered him to teleport to aid Osborn in Siege of Asgard. During the battle a civilian family was hurt when the Sentry caused the entire kingdom of Asgard to collapse. The husband found both Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers as Captain America and asked them to help locate his family in the rubble. They found his wife but saw his two daughters in the clutches of Razor Fist. Both Avengers defeat Razor Fist and leave him tied up as they searched for their friends who were trapped underneath the rubble. After the battle was over, Razor Fist was arrested along with other members of the Hood's gang.

Rumor has it that he has escaped custody yet again and is looking for work on the East Coast.

Characterization: Razor Fist is a little more than a hired thug who works for whoever will give him work, despite his exceptional martial arts prowess.

Friends and Foes: All the Razor Fists have been foes of Shang-Chi.

Nice write-up!

I always wondered how this Mook did anything--I mean anything--other than slice and dice his enemies. I knew his blades were big--but they are huge in that pic!

I'd like to see Razor-Fist go up against any real weapon-users in the setting and get wrecked, and have it explained to him that hands make weapons a lot more flexible and effective. Make the dude cry.

Hatred: He doesn't care for the Green Lanterns, especially Guy Gardner and Mogo
Motivation: As an intergalatic bounty hunter, is generally motivated by greed
Obsession: Not relenting
Reputation: "The Strength of a Denebian Dozer-Bull," but "The Intelligence of a Bed of Kelp”

Abilities 56 + Skills 20 (40 ranks) + Advantages 28 + Powers 5 + Defenses 10 = 119 / 119

Build Comments: Bolphunga the unrelenting, lord I LOVE that name! I probably overpowered him since Guy held his own against him without his ring, but come on Bolphunga needs to at least make some GLs work for a bit. He’s unrelenting, after all.

He even got a nice story recently in the "Oh Bolphunga, where are thou?" arc of Green Lantern a couple of years ago. But his magnum opus was his "fight" against Mogo in Green Lantern #188 "Mogo Doesn't Socialize". That is a classic comic.

Secret Origins: Bolphunga the Unrelenting is known to have proved his mettle countless times prior to his first appearance. Reportedly, he pulverized "Rustang the Vindictive," pureed the terrifying "Kloba Vud," and broke seventeen of "Rivera's" arms.

The Story so Far: Bolphunga attempted to truly landmark himself by challenging the "most feared and mysterious being of them all," the Green Lantern known as "Mogo." He arrived on the planet where Mogo had been last seen, and challenged Mogo to a fight, but to his astonishment could not find him anywhere. Cutting through the forests, he examined the plants to see if they were Green Lanterns, he examined the insects to see if they were Green Lanterns, he drew maps, and set up base camps, staying on the planet for many months attempting to track Mogo. Finally, in a moment of horror, he understood the significance of the forests' and their strange clearings... Mogo was the planet. Bolphunga fled in terror.

He’s also gotten pwned by GLs Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner and Soranik Natu. And Rocket Raccoon.

Characterization: Bolphunga is a big dumb lout of a bounty hunter that is quite effective against low lifes, but is outclassed by Green Lanterns.

Friends and Foes: He really doesn’t like the Green Lanterns and since Rocket pwned him, he’s been out to get him, too.

Thrills: He LOVES the thrill of stealing, even when he's trying to walk on the side of the angels.

Abilities 80 + Skills 40 (80 ranks) + Advantages 25 + Powers 37 + Defenses 16 = 198 / 198

Build Comments: I can't help it. I still like Gambit. Sure he's about as 90's as it gets, but he's always been a character that if you don't take him too seriously he's not bad. They don't Mary Sue him like they used to either, so that helps. I haven't read his new series with him and Rogue but I've actually heard some good things so I'll have to try and pick it up sometime.

Secret Origins: Remy Etienne LeBeau, the mutant who would later become Gambit was abandoned at birth by his birth father, due to his unusual red-on-black eyes as they believed their child was of satanic origins. He was stolen from a New Orleans orphanage by the Thieves Guild and given to Antiquary, a collector of children, who considered Remy a perfect work of art. There he was given the name Remy and the title Le Diable Blanc (The White Devil), because of an old Guild Prophecy that spoke of a white devil. However, Jean-Luc LeBeau greatly disliked the idea of the child being in Antiquary 's care, and arranged for Remy to grow up being watched by a gang of street thieves known as Fagan's Mob instead. At age eight, Remy met and befriended a young girl named Bella Donna. A few days later, he was taken in and adopted by the leader of the Thieves Guild, Jean-Luc himself, after a failed pickpocket attempt which had been secretly arranged by Jean to meet with the young mutant.

The Story so Far: As part of a peace pact between the Thieves’ Guild and their rivals, the Assassin’s Guild, a marriage was arranged between Remy and Bella Donna Boudreaux, the granddaughter of the head of the Assassins Guild. However, Bella Donna's brother Julien objected to the marriage and challenged Gambit to a duel. Remy killed Julien in self-defense, but was excommunicated and banished from New Orleans in an attempt to maintain the non-aggression pact between the two guilds.

Remy wandered the world as he plied his skills as a master thief, aided by his mutant power to charge objects with explosive energy. He employed playing cards he charged with kinetic energy as his trademark weapon. At one point Remy had approached the master geneticist Mr. Sinister for help in controlling his powers. Sinister removed some of Remy's brain tissue to reduce his power levels, thus affording him a greater degree of control.

As a result, Remy was now in the geneticist's debt, and Sinister subsequently charged the thief with assembling the team of assassins called the Marauders. Remy did not realize that Sinister would employ the Marauders to massacre the underground mutant community known as the Morlocks. Seeing the horrific results of his actions, Remy attempted to stop the massacre but was almost killed by the Marauder named Sabretooth. However, he did manage to save one young Morlock girl who would one day grow up to become the X-Man named Marrow.

Eventually, Remy encountered Storm, a member of the outlaw team of mutant adventurers known as the X-Men. Storm had been transformed into an amnesiac child who had turned to theft as a means to survive. Remy helped her escape her enemy, the malevolent psionic entity known as the Shadow King, and they became partners. Later, when the X-Men's founder Professor Charles Xavier returned from a long period of traveling in outer space, Storm sponsored Remy's admission into the X-Men.
Remy soon fell in love with his fellow X-Man, Rogue, blessed and cursed with the ability to absorb other mutants' thoughts and abilities through skin-on-skin contact. The feeling was mutual, but the two soulmates were condemned never to touch.

Over the years, Gambit has remained a member of various teams of X-Men until Apocalypse returned to Earth and in order to protect his friends, Gambit joined him, and became Death. The transformation changed both his mind and body, altering his original intent on ensuring the X-Men's protection from the High Lord. However, large portions of his former self seemed to be intact, as Death VI said that he was "both Death and Gambit". He also remembered Rogue and his love for her. Apocalypse noted that Gambit was trying to bring peace to his two halves.

Gambit was knocked unconscious and taken away by Sunfire, who had become Famine VI, but overcome the change. Gambit awoke in a temple in Japan, where Sunfire encouraged him to abandon his master Apocalypse, the X-Men, and his past. To do this they launched an attack on the X-mansion to recover their other horseman Polaris. Remy showed his willingness to abandon his past as he tried to murder Rogue. However the attack failed and they retreated to the Buddhist Temple in Japan, where they were greeted by Mr. Sinister.

Gambit, as part of Marauders, returned trying to destroy the X-Men, but back to his normal self physically. Gambit and Sunfire encountered Cable on the recently evacuated island of Providence. Gambit and Sunfire attacked Cable badly damaging him and forcing him to retreat to the island's computer system. Gambit and Sunfire apparently wanted information from the computer for unknown reasons. Cable consequently activated a self-destruct sequence. Gambit and Sunfire escaped.

Gambit stayed on as a member of the Marauders, joining them in Alaska to fight the Purifiers over the mutant child. Gambit and Sunfire found no problem in murdering them but soon had to evacuate when Cable and Predator X showed up.

Bishop later turned out to be the traitor that he always wanted to warn the X-Men about, as he knew that the baby was a threat. Gambit alongside the Marauders were able to save the baby from him after he ambushed Forge and Cable. Gambit, even in his current form, found it quite ironic that Bishop had indeed turned on the X-Men. After getting the baby, Mystique decided to use it to cure Rogue, but not before murdering Sinister. Gambit, now free from his power, didn't know what to do, but decided to stay and protect Rogue from the coming fray.

After the fight with the Marauders over the child, Gambit went his own way to rediscover himself. During this time, he encountered Charles Xavier, who was trying to rebuild his mind when Sebastian Shaw was attacking him and trying to kill him and other children who might have had contact with Sinister in the past. Gambit decided to stay on as Xavier's protector.

After they had prevented Shaw from resurrecting Sinister (or so they thought), Gambit went his own way, still often helping Xavier on his self-discovery. He later joined him in Australia to aid Rogue and Xavier was finally able to help her overcome her powers so that she could be willing to control it properly.

Afterwards, Xavier helped cure Remy of some of his psychic trauma and he seemed to return to his old self, but decided to remain a reserve X-Man and he returned to New Orleans, seeking to resolve issues with the Thieves’ Guild. Along the way, he encountered a number of threats to the city and he has reluctantly become the city’s main superhero protector, the Batman of the Bayou, as Wolverine jokingly calls him.

Characterization: Remy has the reputation as a devil may care rogue, but that is a façade as he is actually a reflective man with many demons. He has switched allegiances at times, but at his heart he remains a man with strong desire to do the right thing and protect those he holds dear.

Friends and Foes: He has had a long off-and-on relationship with Rogue, and currently they not on good terms, although, she has admitted that she is proud of what he’s doing in New Orleans. He has become a big brother to X-23, helping her with her journey of personal discovery, similar to what he went through to find himself again.

He has ties to the Thieves’ Guild and several contacts in the New Orleans underworld. Of course, he has made many enemies in that realm as well.

Responsibility: Xavier's Dream.

Abilities 102 + Skills 36 (72 ranks) + Advantages 15 + Powers 21 + Defenses 10 = 184 / 184

Build Comments: This build is based more on his current incarnation but I'm probably going to switch it to more of an 80's-90's Beast so I posted that style of pic which is my favorite Beast.

Hank has had kind of a rough go over the past decade in the MU. Third mutation, bringing the original X-Men to the present and getting them stuck, getting tried for messing up the time stream, failing to figure out the Terrigen Cloud issue that was killing mutants among other issues. He's bounced around from team to team, book to book but never seeming to truly find a home. Hopefully now that Marvel has the mutants back in the MCU they'll treat him, and all the X-Verse characters, better.

Secret Origins: Henry Philip "Hank" McCoy was born in Dundee, Illinois, in the United States, to Norton and Edna McCoy. His father, Norton McCoy, is employed at a local nuclear power plant before Henry's birth and was once exposed to intense nuclear radiation, which appears to have caused his son's mutation. Hank is born with a vast intellect, unusually long arms and legs, and unusually large hands and feet for a human; in fact, his body's proportions are comparable to those of a gorilla and later stories reveal his nickname in school was "Magilla Gorilla".

Henry's mutation more fully manifests during adolescence, providing greater strength and agility, and although his powers allow him to briefly excel in athletics during his remaining time at school, he soon attracts the animosity of his fellow students and other non-mutant humans. As he seeks refuge, he is approached by Professor Charles Xavier, who invites him to study at "Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters".

Henry recognizes the opportunities such an institution can offer him and accepts the invitation. He finds the school both a fountain of scientific knowledge and a place of sanctuary and is there introduced to the X-Men, who accept him into their ranks and give him the codename Beast.

The Story so Far: Hank leaves the X-Men shortly after his twentieth birthday, after remarking that he is no longer one of the "strangest teens of all." He becomes a research scientist at the Brand Corporation, a genetics research facility. His assistant, Linda Donaldson, quickly becomes his girlfriend. Hank isolates a "hormonal extract" allowing anyone to become a mutant for a short period of time, and uses the mutagenic serum on himself to disguise his appearance while foiling an attempt to steal his research. However, he waits too long to reverse the process, leaving him permanently transformed. He has grown grey fur (which later turns blue) all over his body and acquired pointed ears, elongated canine teeth, claws, the ability to run on walls and ceilings like a spider, enhanced senses, an accelerated healing factor, and a feral side he struggles to control.

Not long after this transformation, he is recruited to join the Avengers as a provisional member. He is later granted full Avengers membership and remains a member for a few years, becoming a close friend of Wonder Man. He leaves the team periodically to rejoin the X-Men during times of need. He joined the Defenders briefly, as well as the Doom Patrol and helps the original X-Men form X-Factor.

Later, as the world experiences a mutant baby boom, much of the mutant community seemingly begins experiencing "secondary mutations", often taking the form of additional or enhanced abilities. Beast's secondary mutation is "jumpstarted" due to the powers of teammate Sage. The further mutation causes Beast to develop a more feline physique, to which he initially has some trouble adapting and haunted by the possibility that his new form is simply a step in a continuous state of devolution. However, after a period of adjustment, he became comfortable with his new mutation and was his old self again.

Beast had a falling out with Cyclops over Scott's increasingly militant and extremist attitude to protecting the mutant species at all costs, even at the cost of sacrificing his friends to do so. He rejoined the Avengers for a time and after the separations of the X-Men in two teams, Beast is one of them to go with Wolverine to Westchester to open "The Jean Grey School for Higher Learning".

Recently, Beast and Scott have reconciled at least most of their differences and Hank has joined the Justice League at Scott’s request to be his conscience.

Characterization: Hank possesses a brilliant intellect. He is a world-renowned biochemist, having earned Ph.D.s in Biophysics and Genetics, and is the man who cured the Legacy Virus. He frequently functions as both field medic and in-house physician for the X-Men, despite not technically having an MD. His intelligence and expertise in genetics rival that of Professor X, Moira McTaggert, and Kavita Rao. A Renaissance man, McCoy is well-versed in many fields including several languages, literature, philosophy, psychology, and sociology, history, art and art history, anthropology, linguistics, and music, as well as in political science and economics with a special affinity for science and technology and a penchant for quoting literary classics. His vast scientific knowledge ranges from theoretical physics, quantum mechanics, differential equations, nanotechnology, anatomy, biomedicine, analytical chemistry, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering.

Friends and Foes: Hank is one of the most respected men in the superhero community and has several allies thanks to his time with the X-Men, Avengers and other teams. He is closest to his original X-Men teammates and maintains his friendship with Simon Williams, Wonder Man. He is currently in a relationship with Abigail Brand of SWORD, although he seems to take it more seriously than she does most of the time.

His greatest nemesis is Dark Beast, his counterpart from the Age of Apocalypse dimension that was transported and stranged here. The two of them have had many memorable encounters and Hank fears becoming what Dark Hank turned into years ago.

I'm sorry, Doctor. I hope you will understand why I must do this. I have battled living islands. I have fought Sentinels whose soul purpose was to kill mutants. I have helped to save the universe, more than once. I have done all this and more and yet the hardest thing I have ever done was watch helplessly as my sister's life was taken by the Legacy Virus. Someday, there may be a cure that does not require a sacrifice. Someday, the violence will end. Someday... children like Illyana will not be victims of a war they are not a part of. But I cannot stand by for even one hour knowing somewhere, someone else's little sister is dying from this disease. Snowflake. I am coming home. - Colossus

Abilities 42 + Skills 15 (30 ranks) + Advantages 9 + Powers 82 + Defenses 11 = 159 / 159

Build Comments: Pete fits pretty well at PL11, I think. I kept his form-switch healing since that’s been fairly consistently portrayed, but the magical immunity is my own touch. If he and Illyana are decendants of THE Rasputin, he should have some natural magic resistance, I think.

Secret Origins: Piotr "Peter" Rasputin was born on a Soviet collective farm called the Ust-Ordynski Collective near Lake Baikal in Siberia. He lived there with his mother Alexandra, father Nikolai, and sister Illyana. His older brother, Mikhail, had been a Soviet cosmonaut and had apparently died in a rocket accident. The family was descended the controversial figure, Grigori Rasputin.

Peter's superhuman powers manifested during his adolescence while saving his sister from a runaway tractor. Immediately after, Peter was contacted by Professor Charles Xavier, the founder of the X-Men.

The Story so Far: Peter was part of the second generation of X-Men, formed by Charles Xavier to save the original X-Men from the living island Krakoa. He agreed to leave the farm community in which he was born to go to the United States with Xavier. Xavier gave him the name "Colossus." After the battle was won, Colossus remained in the United States with the new X-Men.

When the X-Men fought the evil mutant Proteus, Colossus attempted to kill Proteus by punching him with his metal skin, an act he found morally questionable even though he did it to save Moira MacTaggart's life. During his early career with the X-Men, Peter started what was arguably his most significant relationship with fellow X-Man Kitty Pryde. Although they were only together as a couple for a short while, the relationship provided the foundation of a deep and lasting friendship.

During the Mutant Massacre, Colossus became heavily involved in the X-Men's efforts to save the Morlocks from the Marauders. When Kitty was severely injured by Harpoon, Peter gave in to his rage and snapped Riptide's neck. He eventually passed out from previous wounds inflicted by Riptide. Magneto, with the aid of Shadowcat, used his powers to heal Peter's armored form, but the process left him paralyzed. He was sent to Muir Island along with Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, and the surviving Morlocks to recuperate.

Following the Inferno event, Illyana was returned to her original Earth age. Colossus decided it would be better for Illyana if she went back to live with their parents in Russia. The X-Men later found themselves in another dimension where they discovered Colossus' brother, Mikhail, was alive and acting as a messiah to the population of that world. Mikhail returned to Earth with the X-Men, but was distraught with having been responsible for the deaths of the original crew from his first trek into the other dimension. Mikhail established himself as leader of the Morlocks and transported them to another world. Peter was disappointed by his brother's abrupt departure and blamed himself.

Not long after, Peter's parents were slain and Illyana kidnapped by the Russian government, who hoped to genetically evolve Illyana to the point where she would have the use of her powers again, to defeat the mutant known as the Soul Skinner. Colossus, with the help of the X-Men, saved Illyana and brought her back to the Mansion.

Later, Illyana became an early victim of the Legacy Virus and died from it. The loss of his immediate family, as well as brain damage that forced him to remain in armored form, caused Colossus to rethink his position with the X-Men and join Magneto and his Acolytes, who had offered him an alternative to the X-Men's pacifist philosophy of peaceful mutant/human coexistence. Colossus recovered from the brain damage soon after, but decided to remain with the Acolytes of his own volition, hoping he could temper their extremist methods with what he had learned from Professor Xavier.

His stay with Magneto was not long once he realized that Avalon was not the place for him, either, particularly after Magneto was left brain-dead and the space station was destroyed by Holocaust. He left in search of the only person he felt truly cared for him, his former love and teammate Shadowcat, now a member of Excalibur. Colossus traveled to England, where he found Kitty in the arms of her new love, Pete Wisdom. Colossus, exhausted, mentally ill, and enraged, attacked Wisdom, and although the battle was short, Peter nearly killed him. Colossus was subdued by Captain Britain and Meggan, later cured of his illness by Moira MacTaggert.

Colossus accepted Shadowcat's new life and chose to become a member of Excalibur. Although Colossus, along with the rest of the team, soon accepted Kitty's relationship with Wisdom, Kitty's pet dragon, Lockheed, did not. He was often seen trying to reunite Kitty with Peter who he much preferred. With Excalibur, he participated in many adventures, including helping to save London from an ancient demon. Excalibur eventually disbanded, and Colossus returned with Nightcrawler and Shadowcat to the X-Men. Peter again found his long thought-dead brother Mikhail, but unfortunately lost him again when Apocalypse collected The Twelve in his quest for power.

Using thoughts and notes from the recently murdered Moira MacTaggert, the X-Men's resident scientist, Beast, claimed to have found the cure for the Legacy Virus. Unfortunately, it could only be made airborne with the death of its first user. Rather than wait for a safer version and allow others to die as Illyana had, Colossus injected himself with the cure. By using his powers and sacrificing himself, Colossus enabled the release of an airborne cure, effectively eradicating the disease. His body was cremated, and Shadowcat took his ashes back to Russia to be scattered on his native soil.

Nearly two years later, it was brought to the attention of the X-Men that a medical company, entitled Benetech, had developed a mutant cure. After gaining a sample of the cure, Dr. McCoy discovered a string of DNA hidden deep within the recesses of the formula. After matching the DNA, Beast and the other X-Men set out to investigate the truth behind Benetech. During their infiltration, they discovered that Ord, an alien from the Breakworld, was responsible for the means with which the company was able to develop the cure. While the team was separated, Kitty descended into a hidden complex beneath the Benetech building and was able to unlock the true secret behind the cure: shortly after Peter's self-sacrificing death, Ord had captured his body and left a duplicate that the X-Men had cremated.

After reviving him, Ord had used the Legacy Virus cure in Peter's blood stream to develop his mutant cure. After unknowingly releasing Peter from his cell, Kitty rejoined him with the X-Men and together they subdued Ord as he tried to escape Earth. Since reuniting with his friends, Peter has returned to fight with the X-Men, and he and Kitty were able to resume their romantic relationship.

During an attack on the institute, Colossus engaged Sebastian Shaw, although "Shaw" turned out to be an illusory attack by Cassandra Nova. It was revealed that Colossus is the mutant destined to destroy Breakworld according to the Breakworld's precogs. However, on a mission to the Breakworld, the X-Men discover that this was not an actual prophecy but an elaborate scheme created by Aghanne, the insane leader of a Breakworld reform cult, intended to bring about that world's destruction. Colossus is chosen for the prophecy as his unique organic steel form would allow him to destroy the planet's power source, initiating a chain reaction that would destroy the entire world. Realizing this, Colossus refuses to kill the planet although he does threaten to seize power and rule it if the Breakworld destroys the Earth as planned.

Colossus felt the X-Men were not doing enough to rescue Illyana from Limbo, and was upset. With the aid of Pixie, the team is able to enter Limbo, where they encounter hostile demons. After defeating the demons, the X-Men located Illyana, who had been defeated by Witchfire. The X-Men and Magik defeat Witchfire by trapping her in the dimension that houses the Elder Gods. Illyana leaves Limbo with the X-Men when Cyclops and Colossus offer her a home.

Characterization: Colossus is typically portrayed as being peaceful, selfless, reluctant to hurt or kill anyone, and always putting himself in danger to protect others.

Friends and Foes: Despite their occasional differences, he loves his sister and still harbors feelings for Kitty Pryde, even though she has moved on. He is closest to Wolverine and Nightcrawler among his X-teammates.

During his early career with the X-Men, Peter started what was arguably his most significant relationship with fellow X-Man Kitty Pryde. Although they were only together as a couple for a short while, the relationship provided the foundation of a deep and lasting friendship.

Colossus was later almost killed in a battle with Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, but was saved by Rogue and the Morlock Healer. During the Secret Wars, he became infatuated with the alien healer Zsaji, and realized his feelings for his teammate were not wholly genuine, ending his relationship with Kitty Pryde. Emotionally distraught, he afterwards engaged in a bar fight with Juggernaut.

Over time, Colossus' wounds healed, but he could only retain his human form with the utmost concentration. When he saw the X-Men in Dallas during the Fall of the Mutants, he had his sister teleport him to the battle, where he became a wild card, as Destiny had not seen him in her vision of the X-Men's demise. When the team decided to sacrifice themselves to stop the Adversary, Colossus went along, dying to save the world. Like the rest of the X-Men, he was revived by Roma and decided to let the world believe him dead while he and the X-Men worked out of an Australian base.

Following the Inferno event, Illyana was returned to her original Earth age. Colossus decided it would be better for Illyana if she went back to live with their parents in Russia.
In time, Colossus was reunited with Nereel in the Savage Land, and met her son. After the X-Men began falling apart with Rogue vanishing, Wolverine taking off, Longshot quitting, and Storm apparently killed, Psylocke telepathically prodded the remaining three to disband and travel through the Siege Perilous to gain new lives. Peter emerged in New York with no memory of his past life, inventing a new persona for himself as 'Peter Nicholas', where he quickly became a successful artist. He battled the Genoshan Magistrates. He began having visions of a beautiful model, who turned out to be Callisto transformed by Masque. The two were kidnapped by the Morlocks, though Peter had no memory of his time with the X-Men. He resumed his armored form and defeated Masque. He was saved by Forge, Banshee, and Jean Grey, who decided it better that he live his new life rather than be dragged back into theirs.

Peter was psychically dominated by the Shadow King and sent to hunt down Stevie Hunter and Charles Xavier. Xavier had no choice but to destroy the Peter Nicholas persona to break the Shadow King's hold. Colossus joined in the battle of Muir Island, and rejoined the X-Men as a member of Storm's Gold Strike Force. Peter is shown to have traveled to the Savage Land, where he located Nereel. He is astonished to learn that the child she bore was not his, but that of another lover. Disheartened, he departed the Savage Land.

Although Colossus, along with the rest of the team, soon accepted Kitty's relationship with Wisdom, Kitty's pet dragon, Lockheed, did no. He was often seen trying to reunite Kitty with Peter who he much preferred. One such example being snatching away the garter during Meggan and Captain Britain's wedding and dropping it into Colossus' hand, who was then required to place it on Kitty's leg, who had previously caught the bride's flowers. With Excalibur, he participated in many adventures, including helping to save London from an ancient demon. Excalibur eventually disbanded, and Colossus returned with Nightcrawler and Shadowcat to the X-Men. But as soon as they returned, they faced a group of imposters following Cerebro, in the guise of Professor X. During this time, he repaired his friendships with Wolverine and Storm, that were broken when he had joined the Acolytes. He created a deep friendship with Marrow. Peter again found his long thought-dead brother Mikhail, but unfortunately lost him again when Apocalypse collected The Twelve in his quest for power.

Realizing this, Colossus refuses to kill the planet although he does threaten to seize power and rule it if the Breakworld destroys the Earth as planned.

Colossus is one of the X-Men members that tries to defend Professor Xavier against the Hulk, who has come looking for Charles as he is one of the members of the secret Illuminati that exiled him from Earth. During their battle, the Hulk reflects on Colossus' bravery, mentioning that Colossus might have made a "decent opponent" to the Hulk's previous incarnations. Locked in a test of strength, Hulk demonstrates his superior power by bending Colossus's arms backwards at the forearms, breaking them. Beast later uses a laser in the lab to heat his arms up near their melting point, while Strong Guy bends them back into place; his arms needed to be re-set in their metal form before he transformed back to his human form to avoid serious injury to them.

Colossus returned to Russia with Wolverine and Nightcrawler along for the ride. The trio are captured by the Russian government, who wish to find out why all their mutant agents succumbed to M-Day, and Colossus did not. This led to a battle against the Russians and Omega Red, who was being examined by their captors. After defeating Omega Red, the heroes receive a call from Cyclops informing them of their new home in San Francisco. They soon arrive back in the States, where they aid in rebuilding the X-Men.

Joining the rest of the X-Men, Colossus relocated to San Francisco. Still mourning Kitty (who was trapped in a bullet from Breakworld sent to destroy the Earth that was flying through the cosmos), the other X-Men try to cheer him up using various different methods from picking fights with him to throwing a party. In the end he tells them to leave him be, he just needs time. Later while walking through Golden Gate Park, he come across a little girl who needs help rescuing her kitty from a tree to which he replies that nothing would make him happier.

] The X-Men and Magik defeat Witchfire by trapping her in the dimension that houses the Elder Gods. Illyana leaves Limbo with the X-Men when Cyclops and Colossus offer her a home.

When the Dark Avengers head into San Francisco to battle any X-Men they can find, Colossus battled Venom. They later face off again when the combined Dark Avengers and Dark X-Men attack Utopia, with Colossus and the X-Men emerging victorious. It's also during this time that Colossus suffers from depression due to the loss of Kitty prior to the Messiah Complex. During this period, Magik arrives at Utopia to ask for help from the X-Men and her former teammates as there's a battle coming in Limbo. The reunion helps alleviate some of Colossus's depression, but after Magneto comes to Utopia, Magneto brings the bullet carrying Kitty back to Earth to save her in a show of good faith and Kitty and Colossus are reunited. Due to Warlord Krunn's mutant cure, Colossus was temporarily depowered and beaten in battle by him. Later, after another heroic sacrifice by Peter, he and Kitty separate again as she feels she needs someone who will live for her.

At the onset of the Avengers vs. X-Men storyline, Colossus is featured in fights against several characters, including Spider-Man, Red Hulk and Thing. He is one of the few X-Men teleported by Magik to the dark side of the moon to confront the Avengers over Hope Summers. When the disruptor devised by Iron Man blasts and divides the Phoenix Force, part of it bonds to Colossus, who becomes one of the Phoenix Five along with Cyclops, Emma Frost, Magik and Namor. While empowered with his fragment of the Phoenix Force, Colossus attempts to regain Kitty's affections, but she rejects him—wary of his power-mongering and that the Phoenix has changed him for the worse—he reacts angrily. Colossus is eventually defeated when Spider-Man managed to provoke him and Magik into attacking each other by making them see how they have been changed by the Phoenix's influence, causing them to incapacitate each other. Their Phoenix powers dissipate and are absorbed by Emma Frost and Cyclops (Namor having already been defeated). Following the defeat of Cyclops as the last of the Phoenix Five, Colossus and the other former members of the Phoenix Five did not surrender themselves to the authorities.

Recently, Colossus's powers have gone out of control, as a result of losing the Phoenix Force, causing parts of him to shift between flesh and organic steel rather than all flesh or all organic steel. He currently appears as a member of Cable's new X-Force team after Cable provides him with a device that stabilizes his condition.

Colossus had always been my favorite X-man, kind, protective of his friends and a poet's soul.

Check out next new addition to our X-Verse line on Aisle 2 as we move into STORM SEASON!

Professor Xavier dreamed of a world where mutants and humans could live in harmony... where we no longer needed to be afraid. I have tried for so long to keep that dream alive. We all have. That is what the X-Men were. But now, finally, I am starting to see that we failed. The dream is dead. Did it die with Scott, or was that merely the final blow? It doesn't matter now. What matters is that we are still here. We are still alive. I try to appear unshakable. I try to show that there is nothing to fear and the X-Men will endure, like we always have. I keep telling myself that we have to keep fighting. We have to keep trying. I just -- I wish there was some sign. Some sign that I'm doing the right thing. Some sign that we will be all right. But what I get is not a sign of hope. It is a warning. The ground beneath X-Haven begins to shake and I am scared. I am scared that there is no longer a light to guide us out of the darkness. I am scared that I haven't saved us by bringing us here, but rather, I've led us to the brink. I'm scared that this is really the end. - Storm

Abilities 64 + Skills 25 (50 ranks) + Advantages 16 + Powers 96 + Defenses 16 = 217 / 217

Build Comments: Storm is always a fun build for me to see if I can fit her myriad of powers and skills in a reasonable point format. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t but I feel pretty good about this one. I kept her around 200 and still a pretty effective PL11.

Secret Origins: Ororo Munroe is a descendant of an ancient royal line of white-haired, blue-eyed sorceresses (possibly mutants), who got their defining features every five generations. Her royal heritage can be traced back to the dawn of humanity and her family's kingdom lies hidden in the Great Rift Valley of Africa, the valley that spawned the human race itself.

The power in her family is transferred from mother to daughter. Her mother, Princess N'Dare, rebelled against their tradition as she felt that she was forced to do the role that was given to her. She then married an American photojournalist, David Munroe, and they lived in Manhattan. They moved to Cairo, Egypt when Ororo was still an infant. When Ororo was five, she and her family were caught in an Arab-Israeli conflict. Her parents were killed and Ororo ended up buried under rubble next to her mother's body. Because of this, Ororo has had a lifelong struggle to overcome her severe claustrophobia.

Ororo was never sought after by her own people in fear of her safety as her own uncle, Shetani, who felt left out and wanted to rule, threatened that he would kill Ororo should her people even try to find her. Storm, by birth, is the rightful heir to her family's kingdom and to the oldest royal family on the face of the Earth.

As an orphan in Cairo, Ororo was forced to live on the streets. She was taken in by Achmed El-Gibar who taught her the many skills of thievery and hand to hand combat. While in Cairo, Storm had her first encounter with Charles Xavier, a powerful telepath who would go on form the team of mutants called the X-Men. Through Ororo's attempt to pick Xavier's pocket, Charles met the Shadow King.

Years later, Ororo left Egypt and returned to her ancestral homeland of Kenya. On the way there, Ororo accepted a ride with a man who attempted to rape her. Ororo killed the man with a knife, but swore never to take a life again. After nearly dying of thirst in the Sahara desert, Ororo learned that she has the power to control the weather.

The Story so Far: She also learned that South Africans, under the leadership of Andreas de Ruyter, were trying to kidnap Prince T'Challa of Wakanda, who was a little older than her. Storm used her powers to help him escape, and the two traveled together for a while, growing attracted to each other, but Ororo's dream and T'Challa's duty meant they couldn't be together yet.

Making her home in the Serengeti Plain in Kenya, Storm called out to her goddess and was answered with the sight of a shining figure of a woman, who resembled her. Adopted as a goddess of life by the local tribes, Storm helped however she can with her powers. The connection between the weather and her emotional state led her to detach herself from stronger emotions as far as possible to protect the people. An elderly tribal woman, Ainet, helped her learn how to responsibly use her complex powers. Eventually, a threat arose from a fellow mutant called Deluge, who had wrested control over the weather from her in an attempt to revenge himself on humanity. Ororo managed to destroy Deluge and disperse the storm with the help of the X-Men who were stranded in Kenya at that time. The X-Men informed Professor X about this promising mutant, however, he already knew of her, but hadn’t contacted her before because he thought the cultural shock would be too much for her to handle.

Eventually however, Xavier is left with no choice but to contact Ororo and ask her assistance in rescuing the X-Men, explaining to her that she was not a goddess but a mutant. Ororo agreed to join the X-Men and returned to live in America. The new X-Men's first mission tasked them with rescuing the original X-Men from the living island of Krakoa. Acclimatizing to life in America, Ororo was naive in the ways of the modern world; for example, she had no idea why there was any need for clothing if one didn't feel cold.

Storm quickly made friends among the X-Men, regarding them as a family, with an especially strong bond of friendship with Jean Grey, who helped Ororo to buy a new wardrobe. It was during one of their shopping tours that Jean learned of Storm’s severe claustrophobia when the two women were chasing a thief into a subway station.

Since her introduction, Storm has always played a very prominent role in the world of the X-Men, being a member of several incarnations of the team and becoming a strong leader. She led the team through many huge challenges: the Mutant Massacre and Inferno to name but two, even through a long period when she had lost her powers. Following the return of Professor X from space, the X-Men were split into two teams, Gold, led by Storm and Blue, led by Cyclops. During that period her closest male relationship was with Forge, however, due to Storm being busy with the X-Men all the time, Forge felt left out and knew that her heart would always be with them and not with him which ended with the two breaking up.

Storm eventually married T’Challa and the two were happily wed for a few years, but recent events have led to their separation. Ororo has since returned to a leading role with the X-Men.

Characterization: Storm is one of the most respected heroes, male or female, in the super hero community. Her power, grace, and beauty have made her one of the leaders of the community and a place as one of Xavier’s greatest successes.

Friends and Foes: She is close to many members of the superhero community, but closest to her original X-Men teammates. Because of her association with them, she has garnered many enemies, but her greatest rivalry with his Callisto, due to her defeat of her years ago when Storm took over leadership of the Morlocks for a time.

Yet for all that, he has one of the highest body counts of a non-clawed X-Man. Do not push Colossus too far. Riptide can tell you why.

Haha, Jesus- Colossus’ history. Just so enormously detailed and full of insane complexity. It’s absolutely hilarious, especially because he spends large chunks of time off the team (or is dead).

LOL, yeah. I mean, even though I believe a shared universe should respect continuity to an extent-a LOT of the X-Men just need to have their histories "steamlined" by editorial. The books and characters have been around for going between 40-50 years now, and that's a lot of accumulated baggage.

All my best.

Especially when most of them are still supposed to be relatively young. Forty+ years of non-stop crazy adventure and ridiculous drama doesn't believably compress to 30ish years of life.

b]Build Comments:[/b] I’ve always been a big Mystique fan, whether from main continuity or even Rebecca Romjin’s and Jennifer Lawrences' versions in the movies. Although you could tell J-Law was mailing it in during Apocalypse. But then again, it looked like a LOT of the cast were mailing it in there.

Anyway, because I dig Mystique, I went all out on her. Most times I've built her, and seen her builds, they're at PL9-10 but the more I thought about it, I realized how many times she’s gone up against an entire X-team and come out on top, or even gone one-on-one with Logan and walked away. I almost went PL11 and I probably shorted her in some areas.

Secret Origins: Raven Darkholme, otherwise known as Mystique, has a very convoluted history about which very little is known, the exception being that she is over a century old and was most likely born somewhere in Austria.

The Story so Far: In the 1920s, Mystique encountered the Canadian mutant Wolverine when he joined her gang of mutant pick-pockets. This meeting was possibly orchestrated by Weapon X. The two became lovers. Wolverine did not act when Mystique let their friends die when the situation turned sour, though he was extremely remorseful. As they ran away, Mystique pushed Wolverine out of the train they were escaping on because she did not trust him.

At one point in her life, circumstances led Raven to an important figure in Wolverine's past, Victor Creed. When the two initially met, Raven was in the guise of Leni Zauber. Both Leni and Victor had been assigned to kill a scientist in Berlin. Although, Raven was the one who ultimately killed the scientist, the two of them still needed to maintain a low profile and opted to stay in the same safe house. It was here that they first became lovers until Raven faked her death so that she could leave Sabretooth without objection. During their time together, unbeknownst to Sabretooth, they conceived a child. Raven immediately gave the child up for adoption, although she still kept track of him until he hit adolescence when it became apparent that he was not a mutant.

Later on in Mystique's life she had a son named Kurt Wagner with the ancient biblical mutant named Azazel. By this time, Mystique was calling herself Raven Darkholme, possibly her actual name. During this time Raven was married to Christian Wagner and the two of them were happily married until she learned of Christian's infertility. She then used her powers to have sex with a number of partners as she desperately wanted another child. That is when she met Azazel, who told her of the islands he ruled off the coast of Bermuda, and that he was the father of many mutants who were called Neyaphem.

Raven soon discovered that she was pregnant, although Wagner became immediately suspicious. Pressured to have her son blood-tested, Raven killed her father-in-law and buried him. She then gave birth to a baby with black hair, yellow eyes, blue skin, and a pointed tail after reverting to her true form due to the stress of the birth. The villagers thought that both the mother and child were demons and they quickly attempted to kill them. Raven soon threw her newborn son into a river before changing her form to that of a local villager so that she could escape alive. It is later revealed that, either through Destiny's precognitive powers or through the government contacts she eventually cultivates, Mystique keeps tabs on Kurt Wagner's whereabouts; she reveals in her first encounter with Nightcrawler that his foster mother, Margali Szardos, is aware of her.

Distraught over what she had done, Mystique wandered the world for some time. During this time, she met the mutant Destiny and became friends with her. The two of them would eventually become life-long lovers. Mystique initially met Destiny when she was hired to help her decipher her dreams and stop the worst of them from coming to pass. When Mystique was involved with Destiny the two of them actively tried to thwart Destiny's negative precognitive dreams from actually occuring. Destiny, who was precognitive, told Raven it would be best for her to adopt a certain child named Anna Marie, who would later grow up to become the X-Man known as Rogue.Wanting to make up for abandoning Graydon and Kurt, Mystique eagerly agreed. Mystique genuinely cared for Anna, and raised her like the child she had lost. Although, initially distrustful, Raven gained the young girl's trust, creating a family with her and Destiny for nearly a decade. Unfortunately, Destiny aged at the rate of a normal human, while Mystique's powers allowed her to retain her youthful body.

While still raising Anna Marie, Raven had concealed her mutant abilities so well that she was able to work for the United States Civil Service and eventually worked her way up to the trusted position of Deputy Director of the Defense Advanced Research Planning Agency (DARPA) in the United States Department of Defense, giving her access to military secrets and advanced weaponry, both of which she used for her own criminal and subversive purposes. In order to help further her terrorist activities, Raven organized a group called the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, whose members consisted of Avalanche, the Blob, Destiny, and Pyro.

After training Anna in the use of her powers, Mystique gave her the codename, Rogue, and allowed her to join the Brotherhood. With Rogue on their team, the Brotherhood successfully defeated the Avengers. However, during their battle, Rogue attempted to use her absorption power on Ms. Marvel. Unfortunately, Ms. Marvel did not go down easily, and Rogue was forced to absorb her psyche and powers permanently. This caused Rogue to feel as if she was going insane, since Ms. Marvel's persona often attempted to gain control of Rogue's mind. Though Rogue remained with the Brotherhood in subsequent encounters with the X-Men, the Dazzler, and an ill-conceived attempt to recruit Hybrid, the mutant child of a human and a Dire Wraith, Rogue eventually abandoned her pseudo family in order to join Charles Xavier in hopes that he could help where her mother could not. Unfortunately, Mystique believed that Xavier had brainwashed her daughter and she attempted to liberate Rogue from the X-Men's control. This rescue mission was short lived after Rogue told Mystique that she believed Xavier was the only person in the world who could help her control her powers. Reluctantly, Raven left Rogue with the X-Men, although she still continued to check in on her from time to time. Over the years however, Mystique began to resent Xavier and the X-Men, believing that they had stolen one of the few special people in her life.

Characterization: Mystique is an enigma. No one knows what her true motivations are and Logan seems to think that she doesn’t either and they shift with her shape. Sometimes she is truly committed to doing the right things, sometimes she can do something inexplicably evil. No one is even sure if she is really a SHE.

Friends and Foes: Mystique’s great love was Irene Adler, Destiny, and she holds her memory sacred. She has complicated relationships with her children, Nightcrawler, Rogue and the late Graydon Creed. She has formed and terminated alliances with hero and villain alike whenever it suits her current motivations. Although it’s believed she truly has an attraction to Bobby Drake and is none too happy about his current dating of Kitty Pryde.

Post by Thorpocalypse »

Look at this store...dusty...cobwebs...looks like Randal's bedroom...

I heard that!

I thought you were taking your early-mid-afternoon nap?

Well, my pre-lunch nap ran long so...

*Sigh* Anyway, time to get some builds stocked! And tonight we've got landmark BUILD #400! And that means its time for a J-Mart Favorite Item that wraps up our X-Verse run for the moment. Check it out on Aisle 2!

Xavier warned that my war against humanity would consume me. He never fully understood the truth of it. The conflict gave me purpose... but it also fed a deeper compulsion... one as bottomless as my need to protect my people. Perhaps I never recognized it myself. Here... at the end... I see it clearly... the awful powers that have guided my hand. Anger. Hatred. Fear. These forces... more than any other... have fueled me... defined who I am... and carved out the legacy I will leave behind. (...) I let my own fury drown out the voices of the people I swore to defend. Mutants have been burdened... scarred by my actions. My war will not consume me... For there is nothing left to be consumed. - Magneto

Build Comments: For a landmark build like #400, you need a landmark character and Magneto is the man this time. I love Magneto. Love him as a villain, love him as an anti-hero, love him as a hero. He is one of the most sympathetic villains you can find and even though he’s done some unspeakably evil things, you can’t help being intrigued and even pull for the man. As some writers have said, he and Professor X are like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X, each fighting for the same cause but going about it differently. And considering some of the decisions that Professor X and even Cyclops have made recently, their differences seem to be getting fewer and fewer.

My 3E Magneto is one bad dude. I went with a sustained Move Object since I didn’t want to make him a PL18-20 for a "comics accurate" perception range Move Object. This allows him to pick up more than one thing at once and his dynamic array allows him to pick up a semi and still hit someone with a 10 rank blast. And I like the Fatal Attractions power, an Affliction that goes after the metal in your system to take you out, which is bad enough for someone like Storm, but can be really, really bad for someone like Wolverine or Colossus.

Secret Origins: Magneto was born Max Eisenhardt sometime in the late 1920s to a middle class German Jewish family whose father, Jakob Eisenhardt, was a highly decorated World War I veteran. Surviving discrimination and hardship during the Nazi rise to power, Kristallnacht, and the passing of the Nuremberg Laws, in 1939 Max and his family fled to Poland where they were captured during the German invasion of Poland and sent to the Warsaw Ghetto. Max and his family escaped the Ghetto, only to be betrayed and captured again. His mother, father, and sister were executed and buried in a mass grave, but Max survived, possibly due to the manifestation of his powers. Escaping from the mass grave, he was ultimately captured yet again and sent to Auschwitz, where he eventually became a Sonderkommando.

While at Auschwitz, Eisenhardt reunited with a Roma girl named Magda, with whom he had fallen in love when he was younger, and with whom he escaped the prison camp during the October 7th 1944 revolt. Following the war, he and Magda moved to the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia, and Max adopted the name "Magnus". Magda and Magnus had a daughter named Anya, and lived uneventfully until one night when an angry mob, spurred on by a first manifestation of Magnus' powers, burned down their home with Anya still inside. Enraged at the mob for preventing him from rescuing Anya, the young Magnus's powers manifested uncontrollably, killing the mob and destroying a part of the city. Magda, terrified at Magnus' power, left him and later gave birth to the mutant twins Pietro and Wanda before walking away to die. Wanted by the authorities for the deaths and destruction in Vinnytsia, while searching for Magda, Magnus paid a Romanian forger, George Odekirk, to create the cover identity of "Erik Lehnsherr, the Sinte gypsy".

"Erik" relocated to Israel, where he met and befriended Charles Xavier while working at a psychiatric hospital near Haifa. There, debates were held by the two regarding the consequences humanity faces with the rise of mutants, though neither revealed to the other that they were mutants. However, they were forced to reveal their inherent abilities to one another while facing Baron Strucker and HYDRA. Following the battle, Erik, realizing that his and Xavier's views were incompatible, left with a cache of hidden Nazi gold, which provided him with the finances to pursue his goals

The Story so Far: Magneto's experiences surviving Nazi Germany, Auschwitz, and Vinnytsia would shape his outlook on the situation that mutants face in the world. Determined to keep such atrocities from ever being committed against mutantkind, he is willing to use deadly force to protect mutants. He would believe that "Homo superior" will become the dominant life form on the planet and would set about either creating a homeland on Earth where mutants could live peacefully, or conquering and enslaving humanity in the name of mutantkind.

Magneto's first villainous act is attacking a United States military base called Cape Citadel after bringing down missiles. He is driven off by Charles Xavier's mutant students, the X-Men, in their first mission. He creates Asteroid M, an orbital base of operations in a hollowed out asteroid. Over the years, he has several conflicts with the X-Men, The Avengers, Wonder Woman and Stormwatch, making him one of the most notorious supervillains in the world.

Magneto's first steps towards a change in character begin during an encounter with the X-Men, when he lashes out in anger and nearly kills Kitty Pryde, stopping short when he sees that the X-Man that he attacked is a child--one of the young mutants that he claimed he was fighting to make a better world for. Realizing that he has come to regard the lives of those who oppose him to be as worthless as the Nazis considered his people to be, Magneto stands down and leaves the scene; though most of the X-Men are dismayed that he escaped, Xavier expresses hope that the encounter might prove a turning point for his former friend.

Magneto later discovers that former Brotherhood members the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are actually his children, simultaneously learning about their recent marriages to the Vision and Crystal. He reveals to Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch that he is their father. He also discovers his granddaughter, Quicksilver's human child Luna Maximoff. Seeing Luna as a bond to the human race he has rejected, Magneto tries to reach out to his children. Angered by his rejection of them and their mother, they push him away and refuse to forgive him.

After assisting several heroes and the X-Men battle the Beyonder, his association with the teams softens his views on humanity, and Magneto surrenders himself to the law to stand trial for his crimes. A special tribunal dismisses all charges against Magneto from prior to his "rebirth," deeming that this had constituted a figurative death of the old Magneto. However, the tribunal is interrupted by an attack from Fenris, the twin children of Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. Professor X, brought to near-death due to the strain of the battle and previously sustained injuries, asks Magneto to take over his school and the X-Men. Magneto agrees and chooses not to return to the courtroom. Instead, he takes over Xavier's school under the assumed identity of Michael Xavier, Charles Xavier's cousin. Seeing him try to reform, the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver begin accepting him as their father.

Though Magneto makes a substantial effort as the headmaster of the New Mutants and an ally to the X-Men, his tenure is disastrous. The Beyonder plagues him yet again, slaying Xavier's current students, the New Mutants, and bringing them back to life soon after. This deeply traumatizes the entire group. Magneto is then manipulated by Emma Frost into battling sanctioned heroes the Avengers and the Supreme Soviets. Magneto submits to a trial once again, but uses mind-control circuitry he salvaged from the wreckage of Asteroid M to alter the opinions of the head justice in charge of the trial. As a result, Magneto is finally absolved of his past crimes but finds that this only fuels hostility towards mutants.

Seeing conditions for mutants grow progressively more perilous, Magneto begins seeking allies to protect mutants from humanity. He participates in the Acts of Vengeance alongside such established villains as Doctor Doom, the Wizard, the Mandarin, and the Red Skull. His temporary alliance with the Red Skull — an unrepentant Nazi war criminal — is a highly uneasy one. After confirming that the Skull was the original one who had worked with Hitler, Magneto takes revenge upon him by entombing him alive.

The witch Zaladane is able to appropriate the magnetic powers of Polaris, and the scientist Moira MacTaggert confirmed during testing that the only way Zaladane could have taken Polaris's powers away was by being a biological relative. Magneto works alongside Rogue, Ka-Zar, and Nick Fury as well as a number of Russian operatives in order to reestablish peace in the Savage Land. The conflict ends with Magneto executing Zaladane himself. With her death, Magneto renounces his previous efforts to act as a mentor to the New Mutants and to follow Xavier's beliefs in peaceful co-existence between mutants and normal humans.

Tired of the constant strife, Magneto rebuilds his orbital base and retires to a life of quiet seclusion. He is, by this point, a figurehead for the cause of mutantkind and is sought out by a group of mutants calling themselves the Acolytes, who pledge their service and allegiance to him. Under the influence of one of them, Fabian Cortez, he declares Asteroid M a homeland for mutantkind, obtaining nuclear missiles from a Soviet submarine he had previously destroyed and placing them around the Asteroid pointed towards Earth.

Magneto discovers how Moira MacTaggert altered his genetic structure when he was de-aged. Enraged, he kidnaps Moira and subjects her to torture. While the X-Men attack Asteroid M to rescue Moira and stop Magneto's plans, the Soviets launch a particle beam satellite which destroys Asteroid M. Betrayed and abandoned by Cortez, Magneto refuses Xavier's pleas to escape with the X-Men back to Earth. Instead, the Acolyte Chrome encases him in a protective shell, saving him from the subsequent explosion. However, Chrome and the other Acolytes die, albeit temporarily.

The United Nations Security Council, in response to a resurgent Magneto, votes to activate the "Magneto Protocols" — a satellite network, in slightly lower orbit than Avalon, which skews the Earth's magnetic field enough to prevent Magneto from using his powers within, preventing him from returning to the planet's surface. In response, Magneto generates an electromagnetic pulse not only destroying the satellites, but deactivating every electric device on Earth within minutes. The X-Men respond by hacking into Avalon's own computer systems to teleport a small team to the station with the aid of Colossus, who had joined Magneto's Acolytes moments after his younger sister Illyana's funeral. Magneto, during the battle with the X-Men, rips the adamantium from Wolverine's bones, which enrages Xavier to the point that he wipes his former friend's mind, leaving him in a coma.

This action later leads to the creation of Onslaught an omnipotent being formed with the combination of Xavier's and Magneto's powers. Magneto remained comatose on Avalon, worshiped by his Acolytes under the leadership of the ancient mutant Exodus, until Avalon itself is destroyed by the arrival of Holocaust from the Age of Apocalypse Earth. During the destruction, Colossus places Magneto in an escape pod sending him back to Earth. This pod is intercepted by Astra, a former ally who now desires his death.

After cloning Magneto, Astra restores Magneto's memories and powers before attempting to kill him. Instead, Magneto, now fully revived, battles both Astra and his clone. Magneto triumphs over the clone, sending him crashing into a South American barn. However, too weak to continue the battle, the real Magneto goes into hiding, while the now-amnesiac clone becomes known as Joseph and eventually joins the X-Men. Since the world believes Joseph to be the real Magneto, Magneto takes his time to plan.

Following this, Magneto constructed a machine to amplify his powers and blackmail the world into creating a mutant nation. The X-Men and Joseph, who had fallen under Astra's control again, oppose him. Magneto's powers are severely depleted from battling Joseph, who sacrifices his life to restore the Earth to normal. However, the United Nations, manipulated by its mutant affairs officer Alda Huxley, cedes to Magneto the island nation of Genosha, which had no recognized government. He rules Genosha for some time with the aid of many who had previously opposed him, including Quicksilver, Polaris, and Fabian Cortez, and engages in a brutal civil war with the island's former human rulers.

Despite the UN's hopes that Genosha's civil war between humans and mutants would destroy or at least occupy him, Magneto crushes all opposition to his rule and rebuilds the nation by forming an army of mutants dedicated to his cause, including mutants coming from all over the world seeking sanctuary. Eventually, Magneto uses the Genegineer's equipment to fully restore his power. Intending to declare war on humanity, he captures Professor X to use as a symbol with which to rally his troops. Jean Grey recruits a new group of X-Men to help Cyclops and Wolverine rescue Xavier; they defeat Magneto when Xavier psychically cuts off his access to his powers. Taking the opportunity for revenge, Wolverine attacks the depowered Magneto, crippling him with serious injuries.

While Magneto recovers from his injuries, Genosha is attacked by an army of Sentinels sent by Xavier's long lost twin sister Cassandra Nova Xavier. Over 16 million mutants and humans die. The attack comes just after Polaris discovered the truth about her biological relationship as Magneto's daughter. Magneto's supposedly last moments are spent revealing to Genosha Polaris's status as his daughter.

Charles Xavier is met on Genosha by Magneto, who apparently survived Cassandra Nova's attack and lived unnoticed within the ruins. Xavier and Magneto put aside their differences to rebuild the island nation, rekindling their friendship in the process.

Magneto appears, apparently at the behest of Exodus and claiming to be powerless, to help restore the broken psyche of Professor Xavier. Together they revive Xavier before being attacked by Frenzy. Magneto wounds Frenzy by firing a medical laser into one of her eyes. Seeing the injury of a mutant as a crime, Exodus attacks Magneto. Xavier challenges Exodus on the astral plane. After Xavier defeats Exodus, he leaves Magneto and Omega Sentinel to try and rebuild his lost memories.

Magneto, his powers artificially simulated by a suit designed by the High Evolutionary, reactivates Sentinels to attack the X-Men, who had recently relocated to San Francisco. Though he is defeated, Magneto's attack serves its purpose as a distraction so the High Evolutionary can gain an unknown object from the Dreaming Celestial. After extensively examining the Dreaming Celestial, the High Evolutionary subjects Magneto to a dangerous technological procedure, restoring his powers.

Impressed with the X-Men's recent efforts in defending and helping mutantkind, Magneto offers to work with them on Utopia, the new mutant homeland created by the X-Men using the remnants of Asteroid M. He aids the X-Men in defending Utopia Island from an attack of Predator X monsters. Now considered a member of the X-Men, Magneto assists them in stabilizing the asteroid from sinking into the Pacific. Despite Xavier being apologetic and appreciative for what he'd done, Magneto leaves Utopia for nearby Mount Tamalpais in Marin County. In a final bid to gain their trust, Magneto enters a deep meditative catatonic state to focus his powers at an interstellar distance and reverse the path of Breakworld's "Earth-destroyer" Metal Bullet that Kitty Pryde is trapped in. Magneto had encountered the bullet earlier while working to regain his powers with the High Evolutionary, and surmised that Kitty was inside. He had chosen to focus on ways to restore the powers of mutants, but memorized the metals of the bullet allowing him to keep a trace on it. Magneto brings the bullet back to Earth, drawing Kitty out of it and levitating her safely to the ground. However, the strain of using his power at such intensity and duration leaves him comatose.

Magneto comes out of his coma right after Hope is teleported into Utopia by a dying Nightcrawler. With the Nimrods laying siege to Utopia, Magneto stops Hank McCoy from leaving his patients as he prepares to enter battle himself. Magneto holds off a squad of Nimrods, dismembering the robots by pulling shards of iron from the core of Utopia through them.

With his reputation around the world as a well-known mutant revolutionary/terrorist, Magneto is talked into finding a solution to the problem by Cyclops before it goes public that he is established in Utopia. With an earthquake inbound for San Francisco, Magneto uses his powers to stabilize the city's buildings, structures and metal vehicles, and to smooth the earth movements themselves, thus preventing any major damage and saving many lives. As a result, some of the city favors him, while others are reminded of how potentially dangerous he can be and has been.

Magneto later joins the Avengers, the X-Men, and Hulk in confronting the Phoenix Force-powered Cyclops. Scarlet Witch uses her abilities to keep Magneto from being harmed. Following the defeat of Cyclops, Magneto and the other former members are reported to have gone on the run. Magneto eventually joined Cyclops and his X-Men team until Cyclops and Wolverine reconciled and along with the returned Professor X he is currently helping run the new Jean Grey School.

Characterization: Magneto has long been the face of mutant separatism, in opposition to Charles Xavier's ideal of coexistence with humanity. Believing that mutants are the next stage in human evolution, he sought to assert their dominance over the planet and its inhabitants. This was Magneto's means of assuring the survival of his people in a world that hates and fears them for their very existence. Though not a hero, Magneto is charismatic, noble, and wise. His long and turbulent friendship with Charles Xavier has been a cornerstone for both men's lives, as a rivalry that has lasted decades.

In addition to his powers, Magneto has many other skills. He is a genius with competence in various fields of advanced science, especially in genetic manipulation, particle physics, engineering, and other fields of technology. He has engineered advanced weaponry, space stations, superpowered humanoid lifeforms, devices that generate volcanoes and earthquakes, devices that block telepathy, and devices that can nullify all mutant powers except for his own. He has reconstructed computerized devices from memory. He is fluent in many human languages and once single-handedly deciphered the unknown language of a lost civilization. He possesses extraordinary skill in "reading" the microexpressions on others' faces and sensing what they are thinking and feeling, whether they are lying, fearful, etc. a skill which he refers to as "taking your enemy's measure." He also is a master strategist and tactician with extensive combat experience, and has often been successful in single-handed combat against entire groups of superhuman adversaries. He also has some military training in hand-to-hand combat and has been shown to be effective with his fists, but he prefers to use his powers when in combat situations.

Friends and Foes: His longest relationship is with Charles Xavier, which has lasted for decades due to both of their deaths, revivals and body changes that have greatly extended their lives. He has been both an ally and foe of the X-Men and has seemingly worked with and against all members of the superhuman community.
