[Multiverse-wide]Multi-dimension religions!

Post by Hoid »

Despite the lack of evidence, all across the Forever Tree people believe. Sure, there's also plenty of atheists and agnostics, but in realms as 'off-kilter' as the worlds of the Forever Tree, faith is sometimes all you have to go by.
Add to that fact the existence of worldhoppers like the Star Corps and the Sungods, and you have the possibility of truly multiversal religions. Such as the ones in this very post.

What follows is a writeup of the seven most popular multiversal faiths---even if individual believers don't know their beliefs span infinity.

-//-\\-

the Brotherhood:
Worshippers: brothers or sisters.
clergy: fathers or mothers.
Worlds: Every single parallel-Earth, but not the Perpendiculars.
Type: Monotheism; the Brotherhood is an uneven admixture of various monotheisms from across the Forever Tree, meshed together into one single, hate-filled brew.
Doctrine: God created man in his sacred, perfected image, but evil always seeks to corrupt God's good works. So, evil has fashioned hellish mockeries of man's perfection in the unholy visage of superhumanity.

Evil are superhumans! Evil are their powers! Evil are their ways! Believe not the superhuman! Trust not the superhuman! PURGE the superhuman, CLEANSE Earth of the taint of superhuman!

On Earth-A, the Brotherhood has been secretly suborned by the Night Houses.

On Earth-B, the Brotherhood's ideology is firmly embraced by The Purity.

On Earth-C, the Brotherhood has been subsumed by the heresy of Akhenaten, the infamous pharaoh who tried reimagine Egypt as religiously monotheistic.

On Earth-F, in Europe, the Brotherhood has implanted itself within the halls of power in the Roman Catholic Church; meanwhile, in Asia, the Brotherhood finds no real purchase.

On Earth-G, the Brotherhood secretly controls much of the Red Hand.

On Earth-H, the Brotherhood finds a willing audiences among mundane humans disturbed by the self-inflicted miseries arhats and gorgons must subject themselves to in return for their powers.

On Earth-K, the Brotherhood is outlawed and membership in the Brotherhood results in instnt execution if the Manifold Giants catches you.

On Earth-L, the Brotherhood has a huuuuge following among groundlings.

On Earth-M, the Brotherhood has been subsumed into the Immortal Cauldron, and no longer effectively exists.

-//-\\-

the Church of Naalu:
Worshippers: Naalu-followers.
Clergy: Naalu-meditants.
Worlds: Every single parallel-Earth, but not the Perpendiculars.
Type: Polytheism.
Doctrine: The Great Old Ones will rise, and we will all be consumed. Ia! Ia! Cthulhu fhthaghn! Hail Naalu, he who brought us wisdom, for his word is law!

Naalu, the cloaked and shrouded and mysterious founder of the Church of Naalu, died long ago, but, in life, he was a mi-go permanently masquerading as a tcho-tcho.

The Church of Naalu is particularly strong on Earth-E.

-//-\\-

the Cosmic Universal Church of Self-Enlightenment:
Worshippers: Enlightened Ones.
Clergy: Enlightened Teachers. Both male AND female clergy exists.
Worlds: Earth-B, Earth-K, Earth-L, Earth-S and Earth-W.
Type: Non-theistic dualism.
Doctrine: The gods are not real in a verifiable sense, but rather are embodiments of sacred cosmic truths that transcend the very need for deities to represent them.

Still, our limited consciousnesses need symbols to encapsulate cosmic truths, and so we invent gods to fill that role. The Enlightened Ones take on a Godself, a divine image of themselves, by identifying with and embodying the mythology of, various deities. By fulfilling these archetypal roles, an Enlightened One will connect through to the Onemind—the collective consciousness of all living things!

In general, though, Godselves come into two categories: Icons of Apollo and Icons of Dionysus. Those who pick Godselves of Apollo follow an orderly, structured, linear path to the enveloping embrace of the Onemind; meanwhile, Godselves of Dionysius preach the path of animal instinct, excess and non-linear thinking as the key to Final Awareness of the Trueself.

(In this manner is the Cosmic Universal Church of Self-Enlightenment a dualist faith without actually acknowledging the literal existence of various deific figures across the entire multiverse.)

On Earth-B, Enlightened Ones are overwhelmingly mutant in origin.

-//-\\-

Infinitism:
Worshippers: Sanctified.
Clergy: brother or sister.
Worlds: Earth-C, Perpendicular-1, Perpendicular-2 and Perpendicular-4.
Type: Monotheism/pantheism. Infinitism Bears striking similarities to Hinduism...but is NOT a Hindu-offshoot religion.
Doctrine: God is both creator AND the created, a loop that defies all rational explanation. There is only ONE God, ONE supreme being; all OTHER gods are false and're distractions from the truth. You reincarnate endlessly; continued virtue leads to ever-greater lives, while continued evil leads to ever-worsening lives. Eventually however through enough lives one either ascends to unity with God for all eternity or else one descends into the Absence, the necessary opposite of God. The Absence is oblivion wherein all hopes dies forever.

On Earth-C, gods view Infinitism as a massive threat to their Hegemony, and persecute Sanctified greatly.

On Lulultulul (Perpendicular-1), many low-ranking Gamesmen And Gameswomen are practicing Sanctified. The Stormblooded consider Infinitism a great and mighty heresy, however, as it violates the idea of the Stormfather’s deityhood.

-//-\\-

the Librum Chaotica ("the Book of Chaos"):
Worshippers: bookbinders.
Clergy: bookpreachers, who can be of either gender, but who MUST be mundane humans.
Worlds: Earth-A, Earth-Z, Perpendicular-1 and Perpendicular-6.
Type: Messianic self-divinity.
Doctrine: In the Beyond, ANYTHING is possible. To the practitioner of the Eightyeightfold Path, the Beyond is the key to final metamorphosis. Superhumans have already achieved their divinity, but no god is worthy of worship, instead, let us all become as they, forever in godhood!

-//-\\-

the Old Faith:
Worshippers:: the Faithful.
Clergy: priest or priestess.
Worlds: Every single Perpendicular.
Type: Monotheism. The Old Faith is a bastardized, highly-fragmented pseudo-denomination of Christianity.
Doctrine: In a land beyond mortal sight, a god died so mortals might sin no more. Now, his son rules from on high and salvation is therefore accessible by all, thanks to the god's sacrifice of himself TO himself. The name of the god and the god's son are unknown, but Peter of the Stone brought us word of these twin gods. Believers go to live in the clouds upon death but sinners are swallowed by the earth and held forever, where light cannot reach them.

Yes, the Old Faith is a bastardized echo of Christianity, pieced together from fragments of Christian doctrine cobbled together by confused-but-pious natives. As a result, there are a great many differences between Christianity and the Old Faith!

-//-\\-

the Record of Lal:
Worshippers: Archivists.
Clergy: bards; there are no female clergy.
Worlds: Earth-B, Earth-E, Earth-H, Earth-U and Earth-Y.
Type: Polytheism.
Doctrine: Lal, a superheroine of great reknown (her subspecies differs depending on parallel-Earth to parallel-Earth to parallel-Earth), touched the face of God, and learned to her horror that he was dead. Lal knew then that superhumanity were the heirs of God---infant gods, to be precise.

As superhumans are gods, they must nurture their growing deityhood and expand their powers at all costs. One day, every single superhuman will 'Awaken'---become an ADULT god or goddess---and they will be put in the Record of Lal, a celestial tome containing every new god's name.

To be recorded in the Record of Lal is to have attained one's destiny!

On Earth-B, Archivists depict Lal as a Heavenshadow mutant! Here, Archivists preach that Lal was killed by The Purity, but Awoke at the moment if her—-a MASSIVE redemptive act that shows the way for ALL mutants.

On Earth-E, Archivists depict Lal as a medium-with-familiar!

On Earth-H, Archivists depict Lal as an arhat!

On Earth-U, Archivists depict Lal as a Hyperbrain on Turing-Level Comprehension! Her memetic machines, it is said, stretched across Orion’s Arm, and drew computing power from billions of stellar objects.

[Earth-G]The Nightmare-Carnival!

Post by Hoid »

The Nightmare-Men of the Nightmare-Carnival:
Found in the Scottish moors, the Nightmare-Men are a madcap assembly of 11 superhuman and 30 mundane freaks, cannibals and quasi-demonic sociopaths. A nest of evil if ever there was one, the Nightmare-Men dwell in the Nightmare-Carnival, a witchlands of the most horrific sort.

The Nightmare-Men are "led" (if that notion even applies to such an anarchic host) by the Briar-King. They hold bizarre and terrifying rituals the first new moon of each month, ceremonies that honor hideous things that may or may not even be real.

The Nightmare-Carnival:
Powers: [38pp.]
The Carnival of Nightmares: Dream Control 6 (Flaws: Limited [nightmares ONLY]). [12pp.] Emotion Control 11 (Flaws: One Emotion Only [fear]), [11pp.] Enhanced Feats: 11 (natural landscape that eerily resembles the layout of a medieval carnival with brightly colored rock ‘walls’ and so forth [HQ]). The eleven superpowered Nightmare-Men are (in no particular order):

Infamous Nightmare-Men:
Bloat:
Crunch Writeup: Here.
Theme Song:
PL10/89pp. A non-sentient Starbeast fish of vast corpulence and able to survive indefinitely on land, Bloat has been daubed in clown makeup and given a variety of festive hats to wear (which depends on the Briar-King’s daily whims). Belching loudly and making noises disturbingly similar to a hyena’s laughter, Bloat has only animal intelligence...but a very human malevolence.
Bloat wrote:”EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE”
Prior to the Green Star’s passage, Bloat was an Italian merchant from Genoa, who even then was of dubious sanity...
Infamous Nightmare-Men:
The Dreaming Childe:
Crunch Writeup:
See here!
The Dreaming Childe is only nominally a member of the Nightmare-Carnival, but is still nonetheless one of the eleven superbeing members...!
Infamous Nightmare-Men:
The Briar-King:
Crunch Writeup: Everyone bow to the pumpkin king!
PL10/160pp. Not all Starborn are Christian. Not all Starborn are European natives. And most of all...---not all Starborn are benevolent. Some, like the Briar-King, are evil incarnate.

Of unknown origin, the Briar-King is mute and seemingly incapable of any form of communication. Reshaped by the Green Star into a pumpkin-headed, gaunt horror, the Briar-King alone may access "the Briar Patch"---a highly symbolic realm that serves to transport the Briar-King from tree to tree; i.e., his Transmit power.

But the Briar-King's true horror is his ability to strangle an animal to death with his bare hands and reanimate its corpse with a single seed plucked from his own head. These undead beasts serve the Briar-King faithfully, and're nigh-unkillable.

The Briar-King dwells in the moors of Scotland. There, in the strange, non-Euclidian Nightmare-Carnival, the Briar-King and his fellow Nightmare-Men dream up psychedelic terrors to inflict upon Christendom...
The Briar-King wrote:"..."
The Briar-King's "son": Kerberus.
Though many mistake him as such, Kerberus is not a Starborn; rather, he is an extension of the Briar-King, brought to life by the Protean's warping touch. A 2' tall simulacrum made of mud, sticks and hay, Kerberus is literally an avatar of the Briar-King: they are literally one mind in two bodies.

Wherever the Briar-King goes, so, too, goes Kerberus, more faithful than any hound.
Pumpkinhead, basically, an automaton bent on murder...

Kerberus is not a separate entity, and thus does not technically count as a member of the Nightmare-Carnival.
Here’s the Briar-King and Kerberus. Every supers setting needs a creepy, horror-themed villain... Or at least I think so!
Infamous Nightmare-Men:
The Night's Mare:
Crunch Writeup: Here.
Theme Song:
A horse-headed giantess, originally an Arab Silk Road merchant’s wife dealing in exotic luxury goods, the Night's Mare was transformed into her present state while deeply intoxicated. ("When in Rome...") This led to her brain chemistry forever warping, turning a formerly avaricious coward to a sadist and a warmonger.

Blessed with immense strength, the Night's Mare has a horse's head and bones that cannot break. (She is not otherwise protected from damage.) The Night's Mare has feet instead of hooves, but she does have a very large horsetail.

Having joined the Nightmare-Carnival in the Scottish moors, the Night's Mare is a brute, a primitive sadist and a woman in love with causing misery. The Scottish fear the Night's Mare more than any other Nightmare-Man!

The Night's Mare is extremely good friends with fellow Nightmare-Man the Wither-Man.
The Night's Mare wrote:"The strong do as they please. This is the ONLY law."
Even a Cthulhu-circus needs a big dumb brute...!
Infamous Nightmare-Men:
The Wither-Man:
Crunch Writeup: Here.
Theme Song:
Being hanged at the moment of his empowerment, the Wither-Man survived...sort of. Wearing an insect-mask that becomes his face while wearing it, the Irish Wither-Man escaped his dubious fate by slipping the noose and murdering everyone present. Blessed with unnatural flexibility and the living "masks" he dons, the Wither-Man is extremely dangerous.

But....the Wither-Man is dying. The Wither-Man is immortal. For him to live forever, others must die. A living corpse, perpetually at the moment of death, the Wither-Man staves off the inevitable by driving his insect-mask proboscis into a victim's neck, drinking their blood. He must feed hourly, or his own status will kill him.

The Wither-Man was easily recruited to the Nightmare-Men; he and the Night's Mare are extremely close friends.
The Wither-Man wrote:"All life derives from death. What I do is no more unnatural than any beast of the field! It is as...'God'...intended...!"
The Wither-Man is the closest thing to a ‘traditional’ vampire Earth-G currently has.

The masks he wears must resemble insects, but can be made from virtually any material. They need not be 'prepared' in any manner.
Infamous Nightmare-Men:
The Protean:
Crunch Writeup:
Theme Song:
The Protean is a walking holocaust of mutation and insanity. A Starborn, he appears perfectly human—-unassuming, even—-but his touch cause mundane humans’ flesh to run riot and their bodies to spontaneously evolve into horrifyingly alien configurations.

The Protean considers him an evolutionary ‘artist’ and all Man is his canvas. People exist merely for him to ‘create’ with. Placeholder.

Infamous Nightmare-Men:
The Eleven-in-One:
Crunch Writeup: Here.
Theme Song:
PL10/75pp. The Eleven-in-One is a horrifying abomination: 11 men "melted" into one monstrous whole by Sigfreid the Beasttamer, a lunatic "flesh artist" Starborn living in Scotland. The Eleven-in-One is now inseparable even by 21st Century medical standards, am amalgam warped and bent.

But that's only the beginning: the Briar-King caught the Eleven-in-One and became "artistic" with them. By way of gross disfigurement, horrifying "surgery" and cruel torture, the Briar-King made the Eleven-in-One "pleasing" to his eyes.

The Eleven-in-One live every moment in pain, their sanities shattered by the hell they must endure. But, they are NOT helpless wretches, as they allieviate their own suffering by inflicting great cruelties on others.

The Eleven-in-One belong to the Nightmare-Carnival.
The Eleven-in-One wrote:"WE ARE MANY. WE ARE ONE."
The Eleven-in-One is basically a Hellraiser Cenobite in a superhero setting. "We have such sights to show you..." and all that.
Infamous Nightmare-Men:
Seigfried the Beasttamer:
Crunch Writeup:
Theme Song: “Paleblood Moon” by Miracle of Sound.
A corpulent, morbidly obese brick, Seigfried the Beasttamer has a most unusual set of powers. One, his stomach, on the inside, is infinite. Two, he can dislocate both upper and lower jaws. Three, he can eat anything safely and digest it safely, assuming he can swallow it: this includes rocks, dagger and swords, napalm and even plutonium rods. And finally, anything he eats, he can instead choose to vomit it back up into disgusting new configurations. (This is how Seigfried the Beasttamer created the Eleven-in-One.)

Seigfried is one of the few Starborn to have actually been driven insane by his empowerment. He has access to "genetic memories" of every living hing he eats, and, one day, he...made contact. With something inside the DNA of all creatures on Earth. This...something...was so vast and so alien merely acknowledging its existence drove Seigfried mad.

Seigfried the Beasttamer is a member-in-good-standing of the Nightmare-Men.
Seigfried the Beasttamer wrote:"God is not in Heaven. God is within, and he is hungry! Let us feed him!"
If a Tzimisce from the old World of Darkness ever became a supervillain, he would be Seigfried the Beasttamer.

What did Sigfried contact, you ask? Well...Ia! Ia! Cthulhu fhthaghn!
Infamous Nightmare-Men:
Mother:
Crunch Writeup:
Theme Song:
PL9/112pp. Oh, happy day! Hello, we have visitors! Seigfried, do be a dearie and bring them some chairs. Ah! There you are! Thank you, Siegfried, that was most kind of you. Now, then, where were we? Ah yes our new visitors! I do SO love visitors! The last ones squirmed far too much and would not stop making such rude gestures. That’s not the way to behave! I had to teach them proper decorum, I had no choice. So, I cut off their fingers and put them onto necklaces! I eventually gave them the necklaces as gifts, once they properly calmed down. They were SO grateful, dear things! Why, they wept with joy! They looked so happy, with those necklaces on, so...festive! But enough about that.

Who am I? You can call me Mother.
Everyone does. I was a mother, once, but faeries took my children from me and replaced them with dolls made of stone. HA! What a horrid little trick! How wretched! So. I SMASHED those wretched dolls! And! Brains came spilling out! All in a gush. What a prank these faeries had played! Brains, all spilling out, like a tidal current of mush! And I screamed and I screamed and I screamed but these dolls would not give me back my children!

So. Here we are, now. You’ll be my dolls now, won’t you?
At least until my children get home. Oh, oh dear.

[Earth-C]gods, demigods, monsters and questors!

Post by Hoid »

[Earth-C]gods, demigods, monsters and questors!
—————Who is Annunaki?
Full name An-Nu-Nu-Ki. An adult male of the alien qo o-uet species, Annunaki crashed on Earth in the fields just outside Uruk-of-the-Four-Walls, eldest of the Sumerian city-states. Near death and barely clinging on, the priests and priestesses of Uruk mistook Annunaki as a god injured in some great battle and worked hard to save his life. It was a long, hard struggle, with Earthly diseases nearly killing him seventeen times, but upon recovery Annunaki raided his ship for medical supplies and finished his healing under proper care.

Of course...he was stuck here, as his ship’s Tesseract was dead and the materials needed to repair it existed only in the hearts of stars. So, Annunaki took stock of his situation, and saw the crippling hardships Mesopotamians endured daily. These primitive creatures had saved his life—-didn’t honor demand he repay them, somehow?

He decided to take their mythology and emulate it by grafting his ship’s storehouse of qo o-uet DNA into several hundred willing human volunteers—-granting them superpowers! Placeholder.

—————Who are the qo o-uet?
The qo o-uet are an alien species of low-tier superbeings created wholecloth by the celestial Sunsphinx meta-species of Perpendicular-6. The qo o-yet are named after Qo (PL12/199pp female Sunsphinx biokinetic); in the Sunsphinx primary language, ‘qo o-uet’ translates to ‘Qo’s children’. (In fact, to this day, the qo o-uet falsely worship Qo as the creator-goddess of the entire Earth-C universe.)

Physically, the qo o-uet resemble muscular humans with milky-white skin; the males universally have black hair, while females universally have red hair. Some qo o-uet are RADICALLY different in appearance, however, due to possessing unusual or physics-defying power-sets.

The qo o-uet are not much more advanced than 21st Century Earth, but with that ALL qo o-uet possess superpowers of SOME sort, one-off superscience Devices abound.

Annunaki’s actions on Earth were unscheduled and unauthorized, and almost led to Annunaki’s execution by his people’s Coursers. But Qo herself intervened, informing the qo o-uet Annunaki’s actions did not deserve punishment, as he’d acted unknowingly at HER behest. Instead, they decided permanent exile to Earth was punishment enough for this ‘holy fool’.

—————What’re Coursers?
A Courser is the law enforcer of the qo o-yet: a combination of church inquisitor, civilian police officer, forensics expert and military police, universally drawn from the very strongest of their species. Only those with the greatest powers are ever chosen to join their ranks.

-//-\\-

—————In Earth-C terminology, what are gods?
Gods are humans who’ve had unadulterated qo o-uet DNA successfully spliced with their own genetic code—-resulting in extremely powerful superhumans with vastly extended lifespans.

Gods can have any sort of powers, though Devices and Gadgets are EXTREMELY rare, as they are almost always gifts from Annunaki to favored deities. There are psychic gods, brick gods, superspeedster gods, and more.

The children of two gods are overwhelmingly likely to be a god, themselves, while the rare exceptions are born as much-weaker demigods. The children of a god and a demigod are overwhelmingly likely to be demigods, with some few being full-fledged gods.

—————How many gods are there?
Nearly seven thousand of them.

—————In Earth-C terminology, what are demigods?
Demigods are from two lineages:

One line of demigods are the literal biological offspring of gods interbreeding with mundane humans (or, much more rarely, two gods producing progeny). These’re known as ‘red demigods’, as they possess trace amounts of qo o-uet gene-sequencing.

The other lineage of demigods is created by Annunaki’s psychic manipulation of human DNA without the inclusion of qo o-uet genetic materials, by way of a strange Demimachine even he barely understands. There’re known as ‘green demigods’, as they lack any alien genetics in their DNA whatsoever.

Either way, demigods are considerably weaker than gods, with lifespans much closer to the human norm (albeit still extended).

Like gods, demigods can have virtually any sort of powers, but Devices and Gadgets are vanishingly rare.

—————How many green demigods are there?
Less than a hundred. Yeah, that’s not very many.

—————How many red demigods are there?
Nearly twenty thousand. Yeah, that’s a lot of them.

—————In Earth-C terminology, what are monsters?
Monsters are humans who were unsuccessfully bonded with qo o-uet DNA, causing them to mutate out of control and become sociopathic psychologically. They have lifespans longer than demigods but shorter than gods.

Monsters’ powers are always destructive in nature, and tend to be physically oriented—-such as Super-Strength. (Only a rare few monsters are psychic.) Monsters have been driven mad by their empowerments however, and feel nothing resembling guilt and remorse. Cruelty amuses monsters, and self-restraint is a pathetic joke to these twisted horrors.

—————How many monsters are there?
Thankfully, not many: less than a hundred, actually. Monsters make up for their puny numbers by being absurdly individually powerful.

-//-\\-

—————In Earth-C terminology, what are questors?
Questors are, to be blunt, ‘bad-ass normals’—-mundane humans able to compete in the same arena as gods, demigods and monsters due to the questors’ unparalleled mundane skills, qualities and training.

Many questors are priests of various gods, some few are ‘sorcerers’ and thieves, while others seek their destinies through adventure and excitement and conflict.

[Earth-N]spiritwolves!

Post by Hoid »

[Earth-N]spiritwolves!
—————What’re spiritwolves?
Spiritwolves are lycanthropes created when mundane humans are subsumed by the wolfStorm. This makes them, effectively, into werewolves. Spiritwolves are monstrously strong, and come in two varieties—-the brutish and stupid Moonwolves and the beautiful and cunning Sunwolves.

All varieties of spiritwolves are highly infectious. It is passed along via bloodshed inflicted by a spiritwolf’s fangs and claws, a toxin that takes only a few days to work its foul chemistry. However, few people survive a spiritwolf’s attacks; as the toxin takes several days to work, until then an infected person is still perfectly human and therefore quite mortal. Furthermore, spiritwolf-status IS hereditary but only if BOTH parents are spiritwolves, OR if a pregnant woman is infected in the traditional manner with lycanthropy.

Spiritwolves feel a strong desire to impose their will on everything and everyone around them, and are naturally drawn to each other, forming ‘packs’ with a constantly-shifting ladder of hierarchy.

Surtr and ymir alike can’t become spiritwolves, as both species inoculated themselves long ago against such infections.

—————What are Earthwolves?
Earthwolves are spiritwolves with an implanted vanir stone, making them a hybrid of spiritwolf lycanthropes and vanir superhumans. Earthwolves are extremely rare, and tend to be heinously destructive.

Earthwolves of Moonwolf-ancestry tend to be highly telekinetic. Earthwolves of Sunwolf-ancestry tend to be superspeedsters.

Most Earthwolves are deliberately created by the Reincarnationists, and thus are evil to the core. Placeholder.

—————What are Moonwolves?
Moonwolves are the original lineage of spiritwolves, and, for millennia were the only spiritwolves. Moonwolves are universally brutish and hulking and dim-witted, given to simple urges and uncomplicated hungers.

99% of all Moonwolves possess ‘standard’ werewolf powers, but with a heavy emphasis on brute srength; however, a rare few possess bizarre physical mutations granting stranger talents: hyperdense muscles permitting genuine super-strength, monofilament-style claws, patagias to glide with and so on.

—————What are Sunwolves?
A mutant offshoot of Moonwolves, Sunwolves are universally lean, sleek, beautiful and graceful, and retain most of their pre-infection intelligence—-nevertheless, Sunwolves are just as violent and domineering as Moonwolves. However, whereas Moonwolves are blunt hammers, Sunwolves are slashing scalpels, and are damnably clever In how they work their schemes.

99% of all Sunwolves possess ‘standard’ werewolf powers, albeit with a heavy slant towards grace, speed and stealth; a rare few, however, possess unusual physical mutations granting strange powers: an enhanced spinal column that renders them immune to mental effects, super-regeneration fueled by direct sunlight, a third eye to enhance sight and so on.

—————Who are the Lords of Ice?
The Lords of Ice are those spiritwolves lost to the Great Devourer, forced into hibernation by the last Ice Age and swept away north by retreating glaciers. There, they slept away the millennia, until, between 1933 CE to 1943 CE, the Nazis and the Thule Society cooperated to dig as many of them up as they could under the aegis of Project: FENRISWOLF.

Despite the name, there are plenty of female Lords of Ice. Though most Lords of Ice are Moonwolves, a smattering of them are Sunwolves. Placeholder.

—————Who are the Lords of Iron?
The Lords of Iron are those spiritwolves infected in the citizens of the 1930s and the 1940s, and who are familiar with modern technology and can hide—-somewhat—-amongst the human herd.

Despite the name, there are plenty of female Lords of Iron. Lords of Iron are equally composed of both Moonwolves and Sunwolves. Placeholder.

—————Who are the Reincarnationists?
Reincarnationists are the half of the Thule Society devoted to turning vanir into spiritwolves. In this these Reincarnationists are devoutly opposed by the Thule Society’s Resurrectionists’ sect. Placeholder.

—————What is the wolfStorm?
The wolfStorm is one of the two kinds of changeStorms that ravaged Earth.

The wolfStorm happened countless millennia ago, during the tail end of the last Ice Age. Placeholder.

—————Who created the wolfStorm?
The wolfStorm was the creation of the surtr alien species, using nanite clouds that exist solely in one’s blood. Placeholder.

—————What is the Great Devourer?
It’s a euphemism for unaging hibernation induced by extreme cold. Every single Lord of Ice was put into slumber by Earth’s last Ice Age, and refer to this as ‘the Great Devourer”.

[Earth-N]the aesir and the vanir!

Post by Hoid »

[Earth-N]the aesir and the vanir!
—————What’s starryfire?
A unique energy naturally found only in a tiny handful of dimensions, starryfire is a form of ectoplasmic ‘fire’ that is generated by the orbits of a moon or moons around a planet. Starryfire is essential to the functioning of both aesir stones and vanir stones.

Though only found natively in a small few dimensions, starryfire DOES function equally well throughout every single dimension of the Forever Tree and the compressed Infinite Roots!

Sadly, spiritwolves are not empowered by starryfire, being of much different origins!

—————What’re aesir?
Aesir are mundane humans implanted with an aesir stone transfiguring them into superhumans.

Aesir can have just about any superpowers.
—-/]>However, they suffer two limitations, both brought on by the nature of the stones that empower them:
—-/]>all Powers held by an aesir are designed for combat:
—-/]>and aesir cannot manipulate time or make use of Variable Powers.

Aesir-status isn’t hereditary. Placeholder.

—————What’re aesir stones?
Alien-made psi-resonant stones (‘runes’), aesir stones may be harmlessly absorbed (‘implanted’) into either an adult human or an adult ymir, transforming either into superbeings. The process is FAR from perfected though leading to a 50% fatality-rate among those selected. Even the ymir are held back by this limitation. (Surtr violently and explosively reject aesir stone implantation, however.)

Like vanir stones, aesir stones are powered by starryfire. As such stones are not Demimachine, they function just fine on Perpendicular-2. Placeholder.

—————Who created the aesir stones?
The alien species known as the ymir created the aesir stones and made a gift of them to beleaguered mankind. Ymir and surtr, while now being separate species, cone from the same evolutionary root-species.

Ymir are gargantuan humanoid aliens, and’re native to the Alpha Centauri solar system. They came to Earth to block the machinations of their million-year-old rivals, the surtr. Placeholder.

—————What are vanir?
Vanir are mundane humans implanted with a vanir stone transfiguring them into superhumans.

Vanit can just about any superpowers.
—-/]>However, two limitations always apply, due to the nature of the stone that empowers them:
—-/]>vanir powers are always designed for combat;
—-/]>and vanir can’t manifest any form of telepathy nor can they manipulate time.

Vanir-status isn’t hereditary. Placeholder.

—————What are vanir stones?
Alien-made psi-resonant stones (‘runes’), vanir stones may be harmlessly absorbed (‘implanted’) into either an adult human or an adult surtr, transform8ng either into superbeings. (Ymir physiologists violently and explosively reject vanir stone implantation, however.)

Like aesir stones, vanir stones are powered by starryfire. As such stones are not Demimachine, the function just fine on Perpendicular-2. Placeholder.

—————Who created the vanir stones?
The alien species known as the surtr created the vanir stones and inflicted them upon a suffering human race. Surtr and ymir, while now separate species, come from the same evolutionary root-species. Placeholder.

—————Who are the Resurrectionists?
The Resurrectionists are the half of the Thule Society devoted to creating vanir to assist in the Wolf’s War. Resurrectionists violently reject the Reincarnationists’ creation of Earthwolves, thinking it a corruption of the surtr’s vile schemings. Placeholder.

—————What is the stoneStorm?
Placeholder.

Werewolves, superpowered werewolves, alien giants, and superhuman gods. Welp, I'm sold. When do we get stats? What is the difference between an aesir stone and a vanir stone?

Thanks!

Stats? Soon. ...actually, an aesir was statted up quite a while ago in my NPC thread. I’ll post a link to him in a few minutes.

Ah, here we go: i present you with Void-Gunner, an aesir who devotes himself to hunting and killing as many spiritwolves as he can!

As to aesir and vanir stones’ differences? I’m going to be doing that is a few minutes too, but, basically, the gist is this:
—-/]>Aesir stones and vanir stones always produce superhumans suited for battle. Power-sets can be just about anything, except:
—-/]>aesir stones can’t mess around with time, nor may they allow any Variable Powers;
—-/]>vanir stones can’t access telepathic powers, nor may they control or manipulate time.

[Earth-N]aliens!

Post by Hoid »

[Earth-N]aliens!
Aliens populate the wider universe of Earth-N, and’re quite active, here.

—————What’re runes?
Runes in Earth-N terminology is a type of Device that operates by channeling psionic energy on behalf of the user. Runes function everywhere in the Forever Tree, but can only be made in Earth-N, due to unique cosmological constants localized to there.

Runes are not Demimachines...thus they function at 100% on Perpendicular-2.

Surtr and ymir have completely mastered runes...however, aliens of all kinds throughout the Earth-N dimension make extensive use of runes.

—————What is the Fire/Ice War?
The Fire/Ice War is a galaxy-wide war between two alien species: the fire-obsessed surtr and the arctic inhabiting ymir. The Fire/Ice War has been going on for millennia, and has recently turned its focus to the beleaguered planet Earth.

Began a million years ago, after the surtr and ymir’s liberation from Sunsphinx domination, the Fire/Ice War was, for hundreds of thousands of years, cosmically apocalyptic in scope. Billions of alien civilizations burned in the crossfire between the surtr and the ymir, and 90% of all life in both the Andromeda Galaxy AND the Milky Way Galaxy went extinct.

Why was Earth chosen to be the battleground to determine the finale of the Fire/Ice War?
Because of the Nazis, of course! To be more precise, because the Thule Society activated an ancient rune-Device and made contact with the surtr empress. The Nazis convinced her to aid them, and so the surtr sent a single warcruiser to Earth!

Placeholder.

—————What are bor?
Bor are the root-species that eventually led to both the surtr and the ymir.

Placeholder.

—————What are surtr?
Surtr are gigantic humanoids, designed to survive in hyper-high temperature biomes. Surtr and ymir share the same root ancestor-species (the bor), but evolution and genetic engineering have taken each species in very different directions!

Surtr are the ymir’s archnemeses, and were conquered a million years ago by the Sunsphinx. Eventually gaining independence, the surtr turned their attentions towards conquest—-and ran smack into the middle of ymir expansionism.

Surtr are openly allied with the Thule Society!

Placeholder.

—————Can surtr themselves be superpowered?
Yes, by way of their impressive vanir stone psi-technology, or else by way of deliberate spiritwolf infection.

Placeholder.

—————How do surtr feel about spiritwolves?
‘Parental pride’ is the accurate phrase, as the first generation of distinct surtr released the wolfStorm on Earth a half-million years ago, so, to see all that their creations have accomplished fills surtr with fierce joy.

Placeholder.

—————What are ymir?
Ymir are gigantic humanoids, designed to survive in conditions that are best described as ‘extreme arctic’ biomes. Ymir and surtr share the same root ancestor-species (the bor), but evolution and genetic engineering have taken each species in very different directions!

Ymir are the surtr’s archnemess, and were conquered by the Sunsphinx over a million years ago. Eventually earning their independence, the ymir turned their attention to conquest—-and ran smack into the middle of surtr ambitions.

Placeholder.

—————Can ymir themselves be superpowered?
Yes, by way of their impressive aesir stone psi-technology.

Placeholder.

—————How do ymir feel about spiritwolves?
In a word: disgusted? Ymir view spiritwolves are mockeries of the humanoid form, and see in them a fury that could potentially be turned on the sons of the bor. To ymir sensibilities, the surtr are playing with fire and are doomed to a Fearsome fate at their creations’ fangs and claws.

Placeholder.

—————What role did the surtr and the ymir have in the creation of Earth-N’s superhumans?
Placeholder.

—————Are there Apkallu on Earth-N?
Yes, and this should surprise no one.

—————How do the surtr and the ymir deal with the Apkallu?
With fire. When they deal with Apkallu, both surtr and ymir agree: burn them, burn them all.

Placeholder.

—————Are there Starvampires and Tlolkku on Earth-N?
Yes, and this should surprise no one.

—————How do surtr and ymir deal with Starvampires and the Tlolkku?
Placeholder.

—————Are there Sunsphinx on Earth-N?
Yes, and this should surprise no one.

—————How do surtr and ymir deal with the Sunsphinx?
Placeholder.

[Earth-N]obscure lineages of superhumans!

Post by Hoid »

[Earth-N]superhumans utterly unrelated to aesir and vanir stones, spiritwolves, surtr and ymir!
Not all superhumans on Earth-N ultimately trace themselves back to the meddling surtr and ymir aliens. Earth-N also has hyper-protective Amplified, super-stealthy ghosts and reality-corroding qlippoths.

—————What are the Amplified?
All of the Hawaiian Islands are sealed off from the outside world by a thin-if-translucent sphere that only permits in air, water and non-sentient life. (Humans within can leave, but can’t ever return.) Called ‘the Boundary’, this giant sphere is maintained by three aesir working in tandem with a single redeemed vanir and a pair of Sunsphinx lovers, and has never been successfully breached.

The Boundary enhances that which it protects...and this includes people. Though the Boundary itself comes from Earth-N’s primary superhuman population, it itself taps into otherwise unknown energies; those affected by the Boundary’s forces are enhanced—-becoming the Amplified.

Most definitely not intended by the Boundary’s creators, the Amplified are seemingly chosen at random. No visible criteria for selection exists. People are selected apparently at random, empowered, then inexplicably teleported out to the American West Coast or to Japan, where these new Amplified must, as the saying goes, ‘sink or swim’. Amplified report no voices, no encounters with otherworldly forces, no instructions from on high...it just happens. The Amplified can’t return to Hawaii, as the Boundary repels them.

Once a year, three hundred and eleven people are transformed into Amplified. This has been going on since 1940 CE. As a result, only barely a thousand Amplified currently exist.

—————In Earth-N terms, what are ghosts?
Ghosts are humans modified with state-of-the-art stealth-cybernetics and are designed for infiltration. More ‘normal’ cyborgs DO exist, but only ghosts are properly equipped to scout out spiritwolves’ packs. As a result, ghosts outnumber ‘regular’ cyborgs 120-to-1. Placeholder.

—————What are qlippoths?
Qlippoths are humans exposed to Mythos DNA, and’re transformed into horrible, sanity-shattering monstrosities. Qlippoths exude auras of telepathic madness and have flesh more toxic than nuclear waste. Thankfully, qlippoths are vanishingly rare, as they might one day be a menace that eclipses anything spiritwolves might come up with. Horrifying alien hybrids, qlippoths are toxic to reality just by existing. Placeholder.

[Earth-U]superhumans!

Post by Hoid »

[Earth-U]superhumans!
—————How prevalent are gadgeteers on Earth-U?
Actual superhumans are quite rare on Earth-U, while costume heroes and villains still abound, meaning ‘bad-ass normals’, cyborgs and wielders of superscience are rather commonplace. Placeholder.

—————How prevalent are cyborgs and sentient robots on Earth-U?
Actual superhumans are quite rare on Earth-U, while costume heroes and villains still abound, meaning ‘bad-ass normals’, cyborgs and wielders of superscience are rather commonplace. Placeholder.

—————What are Hyperbrains?
Hyperbrains were created millennia ago by secret Immortal genetic tampering, and are supergeniuses of the highest order. Many maintain enormous ‘memory palaces’ full of incredible amounts of data, often beyond what even supercomputers can hold.

Hyperbrains are sorted by ‘Comprehension’, a subtle alternative to IQ (as the IQ scale can’t accurately rank the intellect of a Hyperbrain). In order from lowest to highest:
Socrates-Comprehension, which is the lowest level of Comprehension. They’re still CONSIDERABLY smarter than anyone in the real world! 15% are psychic.
Aristotle-Comprehension, which is the ‘average’ level of Comprehension. 20% are psychic.
Einstein-Comprehension, which is high-end Comprehension. 50% are psychic.
Hawking-Comprehension, which is the highest Comprehension most Earth-U natives are aware exists. At Hawking-Comprehension, Hyperbrains are incalculably genius...and 90% of them are also psychic.
Supernal-Comprehension, which is the highest Comprehension, period. At Supernal-Comprehension, one’s intellect is so vast it can be used to directly alter reality via force of will, alone. Furthermore, 99% of them are also psychic, in a more ‘traditional’ fashion.
Pkaceholder..

—————Who are the Immortals?
The Immortals are a colony of Sunsphinx living -in hiding- somewhere in the American Rocky Mountains, shielded from discovery by the awesome illusion powers of She Who Hides Behind Twenty Masks (PL10/151pp Sunsphinx Illusion-weaving gadgeteer). Placeholder.

/-

—————How many aliens settled on the Earth of Earth-U over the last 2 decades? What are they like? Are they accepted by humanity?
Many of Earth-U’s superheroes and supervillains are actually aliens from Second Contact, back in 1970 CE, who’ve chosen to make a life for themselves on the planet that generously harbored them, in their time of need. To be precise, four alien species have been accepted as refugees:

the cewwuhu:
Humanoid cnidarian sentient aliens. Highly telepathic, but only with other telepaths (i.e., they can’t link minds with non-telepaths), the cewwuhu are native to the planet Cewaa, a world that was destroyed by Final Winter. Some rare few cewwuhu are telekinetic.

Referred to as ‘ur-jellyfish’ by their human neighbors. Placeholder.

the giikqlivs:
Humanoid felinoid sentient aliens. Highly regenerative, yet physically small, frail and short lived, the giikqlivs are native to the planet Asht, which was destroyed by Ash, herald of Final Winter. Some rare few are genetically engineered for supergenius intelligence.

Referred to as ‘Kzinti’ (a reference the giikqlivs don’t understand) by their human hosts. Placeholder.

the krr:
Non-humanoid avian sentient aliens. Ironically not flight-capable, but possessed of a genius-level intuitive understanding of geometry and (to a lesser extent) mathematics as a whole, the krr are native to the moon Hji, which orbited the planet Asht. Their homeland was destroyed by Ash, herald of Final Winter.

Referred to as ‘phoenixes’ by humanity. Placeholder.

the qr ry kee li s ra:
Non-humanoid crustacean sentient aliens. Can’t breathe air, but can hold airbreathers in ‘nets’ of air that they can generate, in order to take them safely to their subaquatic shellmansions. Qr ry kee Il s ra are native to the gas giant Kiisohh, which was destroyed by Dust, herald of Final Winter.

Known as ‘Mars crabs’ to human beings (despite coming from MUCH further afield than the Sol System). Placeholder.

—————What are xenohybrids?
Xenohybrids are the mildly superpowered offspring of a human and an alien. As genetics-mixing on this level is extremely difficult, successful pregnancies between alien and human is very, very rare. As such only a few hundred xenohybrids currently exist. Placeholder.

Thanks! Yeah, the Forever Tree is my baby! I’m a big believer superhumans would RADICALLY alter human civilization, so, the Forever Tree reflects that.
