Top RPG Conventions

Hey folks.

Like I mentioned a while back, I'm planning to Kickstart my own tabletop RPG sometime in 2019. One of my plans starting 2019 is to hit the gaming convention circuit to do some final playtesting and early advertising, try to build up good word-of-mouth reviews for when the Kickstarter launches.

So to anyone who regularly attends these kinds of conventions, what are some good conventions to try and attend for the best exposure, conventions with good reputations, places you've personally had a lot of fun at, etc. So far the only gaming convention I've attended regularly is a small one in Texas called OwlCon.

And to make this not completely about me shilling myself, what are some of your favorite stories from said conventions?

"Don't split the party".

Oh, wait. Wrong type of gaming convention.

I went to GenCon a few times, back when it was still in Milwaukee. I know a few people who went to it back when it was at Lake Geneva (Wisconsin, not Switzerland), which is where the name came from (it was the "Geneva Convention" or "GenCon"; gamers used to like puns.) I haven't been since WotC moved it to Indianapolis. I have no idea what it's like these days.
