What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

Hey guys, figured I'd just include this here so we can keep each other up to date with what's going on at Marvel and DC. So . . . they're apparently trying this weird option for including the Pre-Flashpoint Superman and Lois Lane back into their former roles as working at the Daily Planet. Namely, t...

Re: A Thread for ?s about our favorite characters

A thread like this would be more than fine, or even individual threads about certain characters. I'd say post them either in the Comics/Books thread if it's a question about a character, or in Debate if you want to actually debate a character's portrayal for an extended period.

Re: Jab's Builds! (Gill! Urien! Remy! Q! Makoto! Rufus!)

Crimson Viper, to me, is what it should look like if someone like Batman or Nightwing would go up against someone like Ryu or Sagat. Purely hand-to-hand, the Street Fighter types are just too skilled and have too much of a variety of esoteric techniques. But the right gadgets and some clever thinkin...

Re: 'Wire' movement

I understand, a lot of wuxia builds can wind up being expensive because you need the character to be highly accurate, have a variety of techniques, have decent saves, have the high movement abilities, it all adds up very quickly. The point break down for my suggested method would probably look somet...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Oro! Yun & Yang! Ibuki! Necro! Gill!)

I gotta say, I kind of liked Necro, at least conceptually. Villain turning a normal person into a superweapon is usually good for some pathos, and a stretchy person who can also electrocute you on contact makes for an interesting combo of abilities. It seems like more could have been done with him, ...

Re: 'Wire' movement

I'd also say that the third level of Weight Control effectively functions as the Safe Fall movement ability. Then if you purchase Wall Crawling, you can basically end your turn clinging to the side of walls, the underside of trees, and so forth

Re: Jab's Builds! (R.Mika! SF III- Alex! Elena! Dudley! Oro!)

To clarify, everything seen in this thread so far is fine. The pages with Cammy and Chun-Li where there were a half-dozen images of them, some more fanservice than others? Perfectly fine. It's only when we get pages of nothing but fanservice or the art pushes the limits of what's allowed that it'll...

Re: 'Wire' movement

I would probably go with Flight, since most wuxia movement resembles flying anyway, but with a limit that you must end your movement on a surface that can support your weight, as well as requiring an Athletics or Acrobatics check to use the ability each time. Then perhaps have a custom Supermovement...

Disney Infinity

I'm curious if anyone else ever got addicted to this game like I did. I'm a huge crossover nut, so a game where I could have Mr. Incredible and Spider-Man team up to fight Darth Vader sounded like a really good time. The concept of being able to build your own levels and games also made it a lot of ...

Re: Jab's Builds! (R.Mika! SF III- Alex! Elena! Dudley! Oro!)

Likewise, no outright sex or nudity, but fanservice images aren't immediately objectionable so long as it's limited to a few per page. If a thread becomes nothing but fanservice, then it'll probably get closed down. Oh no! How will Jab survive? Simple! Only one or two sexy ladies per page! With fif...

Re: That was a Strange movie

I likewise enjoyed the film for the most part, and think it's a solid addition to the MCU. The origin of Dr. Strange was very faithful to the comics, Strange himself evolves quite well and naturally over the course of the film, his look was updated pretty solidly for the movie, and overall it was a ...

Trolls

I took my nieces to see this movie this week, and I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The music was good, the story was simple but fun, the characters were all enjoyable, the setting was appropriately bizarre, it was like someone had decided to make a good Smurfs movie. I laughed at q...

Re: Young Justice returning for Season 3

I've got to say I'm looking forward to this. I've loved what Greg Weisman has done in animation before (Gargoyles, Spectacular Spider-Man), and Young Justice itself was a very solid show. Strong continuity and character analysis, excellent animation, a fun re-imagining of the DCU, some interesting t...

Re: PG-13?

My rule of thumb is basically "could this be shown on network television or basic cable?" Not the most objective of standards and with a lot of wiggle-room due to cultural differences. Europe is much more comfortable with nudity than Americans, but very violence adverse. Americans are the opposite....
