Re: Jab’s Builds (The Flash! Arsenal! Kole! Raven! Danny Chase!)

Oddly, the original Titans animated series IMPROVED on a number of minor characters such as Kole, Pantha, and Wildebeast; and arguably did a better treatment of the Deathstroke-Terra arc (sorry if this is too PC for the board, but putting the onus for the Judas Arc on the 16 year old girl and not th...

Re: Jab’s Builds (DONNA TROY!!!! Tempest! Hawk & Dove! The Flash!)

Yes, though Minka Kelly is almost two decades past the "teen" appellation.

All my best.

Re: Jab’s Builds (Starfire! Bumblebee! Lilith Clay! DONNA TROY!!!!)

Donna Troy/Wonder Girl...yeah, one of those cases where it was clear DC editorial and the writers should have decided BEFOREHAND what their Post-Crisis continuity was going to be for certain characters-and then stood firm (Power Girl, Hawkman and Hawkgirl/Woman, Supergirl, the LSH, WW, and several o...

Re: Jab’s Builds (Salamander! Nightwing! Flamebird! Starfire!)

Uh...I think Vixen long since eclipsed Bumblebee as the company's most prominent black superheroine, Jab.

Re: Jab’s Builds (Salamander! Nightwing! Flamebird! Starfire!)

It's a PHENOMENAL example of how to utterly destroy a once-popular book. Both the Titans and the Legion dropped in popularity badly around the same time (people STILL fight me when I bash the Giffen-only Five-Years Later Legion, and I'm like... THAT RUN GOT THE BOOK CANCELLED!! THAT IS THE DEFINITI...

Re: Pulse Pounding Adventures - Pulp and Film Serial Discussion

Very nicely done! I commend your writing ability-that is JUST the kind of intro a Pulp Fiction tale deserves! And you captured the proper style of the era without being too hammy or stilted, which is a pit-fall for modern writers aping the 1930s/1940s pulps. I admit resorting to google to track down...

Re: Jab’s Builds (Salamander! Nightwing! Flamebird! Starfire!)

The (Teen) Titans...yeah, another example of DC absolutely blowing the chance to build a multi-generational team-book franchise the way Marvel has with the Avengers, X-Men, and even Fantastic Four (which is mostly a nothing book now in terms of influence, but had a forty year run). TitI remember jus...

Re: Pulse Pounding Adventures - Pulp and Film Serial Discussion

Oddly, Fu Manchu would likely be the heroes ally in a battle against pulp-era Axis villains-the "Devil Doctor" would certainly not appreciate the depredations of Imperial Japan (though he would view an alliance as an opportunity to strengthen his own control over China); the same holds true for the ...

Re: Pulse Pounding Adventures - Pulp and Film Serial Discussion

I'd love to see a modern Pulp-homage author do a tale where Doc Savage, the Shadow, the Spider, Operator No. 5, the Domino Lady, Invisible Scarlet O'Neil, et al take on their Axis counterparts; there were indeed actual German and Italian pulps, and pre-Imperial Japan sported several pulp-style seria...

Re: Titans - Live action series.

I haven't seen the Titans show yet (not sure if I'll ever get around to the DC Nation streaming service, though season 3 of Young Justice is a temptation), but the trailers and episode reviews I've seen have done NOTHING for me. And apparently the Batman of their universe KILLED all the Gotham Rogue...

Re: Jab’s Builds (Morph! Kim Possible! Ron Stoppable! Monkey Fist!)

Though I never was a Km Possible fan, I'm enjoying the builds. A "Ron Possible"-type is QUITE difficult to build in most RPG systems-Ron is defined by Rule of Cool/Crowning Moment of Awesome writing; a bumbling, usually rather dim and socially inept character who steps up in crucial moments, coming ...

Re: Jab’s Builds (Blink! Nocturne! Mimic! King Hyperion!)

Yes, the power levels of the Exiles counterparts were generally notably inferior to their mainstream universe counterparts-Mimic is the obvious one here, but as noted both Sasquatch and Sunfire also seemed somewhat weaker than the 616 versions were depicted, and showed off fewer power stunts. Even t...

Re: Jab’s Builds (D’Vorah! Kotal Kahn! Freddy! Jason! Alien & Predator!)

The earliest example in comics I remember of teleportation being used as a weapon was by the Warpsmiths, a pair of alien heroes in Alan Moore's Miracleman ; they are instrumental in bringing down the main villain, Johnny Bates (a Captain Marvel Jr. ersatz gone WAY wrong. Realizing Bates is imperviou...

Re: Jab’s Builds (D’Vorah! Kotal Kahn! Freddy! Jason! Alien & Predator!)

Weird how Blink was incredibly popular among X-fans for a fairly decent number of years, before utterly ignoring her finally killed off the character's heat. And yeah-Magik (who ALSO got an Exiles revival) got reverted to childhood, killed off, replaced TWICE (first by super-obscure Amanda Sefton an...

Re: Owen Stephens post on Ronin Army

I doubt it will stick around for long, but anyone have insight on what this guy is training around? Dear Green Ronin, Please be aware your sterling reputation is soon to be marred by your association with your Freeport writer, Owen Stephens. Paizo will be firing him soon, due to accusations he has ...
