Re: Solo: A Star Wars movie

Saw Solo again tonight. My brother decided to take his daughters and father to see it, and I tagged along.

I was gladdened when my five-year old niece, the one who knows that Boba Fett really loves Darth Vader, started whining "but how can Darth Maul be alive?!"

There were sixteen-odd years between Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace... Star Wars fandom can definitely last without a new feature film every ten months.
It's not if fandom can survive. It's how fast can the Mouse make money.

Re: Writing Tournament - Open Invitation to All - See Inside for Details

I don't think I can find enough info for other people on the non-comics Injustice League, so I'm out (at least until I get another idea.)

Plus, Nuclear Man is being added to the comics.

Heh, change the name a bit and the shocker lizard is a very Pokémon-esque creature.
Throwing a comma, and it becomes two Spider-Man villains.

Re: Captain Marvel Worries

"Hawked" That was my first exposure to that kind of phenomena. Hawkworld was a mini-series written in the late 80's about an alternate take on Thanagar, the world of Hawkman and Hawkgirl. It was apparently very well received, though it was set in its own "Elseworlds" continuity. Unfortunately, it p...

Re: Writing Tournament - Open Invitation to All - See Inside for Details

This is probably an example of too obscure.... The Injustice League of non-comics Nuclear Man ( Superman IV ) The Minstrel ( Batman ['66]) Formicidia ( Wonder Woman ['77]) Nadia ( Aquaman ['06]) Dr. Carl Tanner ( The Flash ['90]) Star Master ( The Kid's Super Power Hour with Shazam ) Mal Havoc ( The...

Re: Writing Tournament - Open Invitation to All - See Inside for Details

Man-Bot? On the same power level as Superman and Godzilla? NO F---ING WAY! His power is described as essentially limitless, and is restrained primarily by his own self-loathing and desire not to hurt others. Time Master was going to use his powers to destroy time itself via the destruction of the C...

Re: Writing Tournament - Open Invitation to All - See Inside for Details

Heavyweights : This category is for heroes of the top tier, the true powerhouses of fiction. If the character is basically assured a clean win more than 8 times out of 10 against even a higher end Middleweight hero, they’re likely a Heavyweight. These are Superman, Thor, Son Goku and similar heavy ...

Re: Captain Marvel Worries

Sentry is a great example of my complaint — that I really need a pithy “Red Guardian Character” name for — about something being a great one-off storyline that becomes instantly stale and absolutely crap when made part of the ongoing continuity. Of course, DC can't let go of the Watchmen characters...

Re: Captain Marvel Worries

I think a lot is going to ride on how they write Billy. If Billy Batson is a heroic kid, like he was for most of the past 78 years, I think the movie will do all right. If they make him the little shit that he became when they started the Nu-52, the film will have problems. Wrong movie Ken :D You w...

They had one long before that Blonde Douchbag was even an idea.He went by the name Hyperion and he was a member of an Alternate Earth's Hero Team called The Squadron Supreme ,so there wasn't even a Need for the guy... The problem is that Hyperion was, still, Superman in terms of personality: a posi...

The thing is, the circuitry in their homes analyses their surroundings, calculates a 12 dimensional data map of everything within a thousand mile radius and determines what outer shell would blend in best with the environment. All their chameleon circuits are set to "native African hut".

Re: What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

In my head canon, Bruce is at least 45. Given that he was 25 when he returned to Gotham after his world travels. In that same head canon, Kal-El's rocket landed about maybe 42 years ago years ago. But calculating his actual age is a bear between the relativistic effects on him during his trip from K...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Gigan! Manda! Mechagodzilla! Titanosaurus!)

I keep having to type in the meters into feet in Google, because Green Ronin are RACISTS and only use American units of measurement :). That's math enough for me. Ummm ... page 224. That doesn't help with the Growth chart, since Growth assumes you start at -2 Size or whatever, and doesn't increase ...
