Re: Jab’s Builds! (Baze! Chirrut Imwe! K-2SO! Rey! Rinn! Rose!)

Although it is funny listening to Alysson Hannigan commenting in one of the flashback episodes (the one with the nightmares and the Cheese Man) on how for the first episode or two, she actually dressed in a non-stylish way, but the producers put the kibosh on that. Of course, given one of Buffy's po...

Birds of Prey failed because it looked like Suicide Squad 2.0.
Eh, i think it transcended the Suicide Squad setup. That said, depending on who you talked to, either there were too many action scenes, or too many attempts to characterize them as feminist icons.

Re: Feminists FURIOUS That Sonic Movie Did Well Proving Gamers Right And Birds Of Prey Flopped SPOILERS

Well, that's just silly. Birds of Prey did badly more because it's a DCEU film, and they choose to feature the Birds of Prey, an obscure team, in the title despite them not existing until near the end of the film.

I haven't seen Sonic , so I can't comment on its merits or faults.

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Baze Malbus! Chirrut Imwe! K-2SO! Rey!)

And then the fact that not only does she not need training, but she's incredibly powerful right out of the gate. Considering the whole series up to this point has been referencing Masters and Apprentices. Training is heavily implied, and we see Luke needing a lot of time before he can pull off even...

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Baze Malbus! Chirrut Imwe! K-2SO! Rey!)

One of the issues I had with Finn's character arc is that it went right from humanizing storm troopers are brainwashed individuals under the armor who could be redeemed to Finn cheering as he guns them down. I guess one can argue that he knows just how many of them have embraced the First Order's ph...

Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn

I really enjoyed this one. Harley is not a good person, but she's also not evil. The action scenes were fun. The characterization was good. Using an In Name Only version of Cassandra Cain is a bit grating since there was no real reason to use that name, and it kind of kills that potential plot for f...

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Jyn Erso! Baze Malbus! Chirrut Imwe! K-2SO!)

FWIW, as I understand it, Rose's arc in the third film was so abbreviated in part due to Carrie Fisher's death . The original plan had Rose and Leia doing a lot of scenes together, and Abrams filmed a ton of them , but in the end, the results didn't turn out as lifelike as they wanted (I don't know ...

... but trying to protect other people from the horrible indigestion that the pizza caused? Oooof, should not have done that last night. Yeah, that's another large grey area. When are you obliged to step in for the sake of others? If you believe there is genuine harm being done, are you obliged to ...

Re: From Sonic the Hedgehog to Star Wars, are fans too entitled?

{nods} And I think that part of the problem is that we're talking about a spectrum (no, not Spectrum. Hi!). Leaving one bad review based on your experience is a pretty clear-cut case of something people are entitled to. Yes, enough people posting reviews that Rise of the Robots has some non-so-subtl...

Re: Vox Article: "How Tabletop RPGs Are Being Reclaimed From Bigots and Jerks"

I came across a reference last night that it's also a big problem in knitting communities online. The same game of space being invaded by the woke, driving out the actual crafters and being left to wither. If this is the case I think it is, it's a bit more nuanced. Said knitting forum was getting a...

Re: [OOC] Four Horsemen

Your call if you think this is just a creative drought you'll get over soon enough or is a common occurrence. Based on past times I've gone into this funk, it can last days to weeks to months. I don't want to burden you with that. It's not a matter of creativity so much as that I try to sit down an...

I plan to try to get a post up tonight. The week got away from me as regards games.

But please don't hold anything up due to my tardiness.
