Re: Castellia- A Fantasy Setting (Dragon Turtle! Choker! Cloaker! Couatl!)

Ah, I misremembered, but was close.. Paizo's Misfit Monsters Redeemed has the Lurking Ray Before: The executioner's hood, the trapper and the lurker above Now: One underground, raylike ambush predator with several forms depending on age and gender. Fun little book with some fun twists on some of the...

Re: Old-school Video Games with Insane(ly Awesome) Backstories

Mr. Driller, the sequel series to Dig Dug has an incredibly deep backstory across at least 15 titles over the years.

Re: World of Warcraft - Any fans of the games and/or lore?

Not sure if I'd call myself a 'fan' of WoW. Maybe more of a person that finds it all too easy to lose themselves in times of stress, with various levels of relapse?

Re: On the topic of California

I find it fascinating that.. On one hand, one of the local cities ran into some issues a few years ago when it decided to actually enforce immigration law by making employers and housing do green card/citizenship checks. Several lawsuits later, and it was declared that only the federal government co...

Re: Castellia- A Fantasy Setting (Doppelgangers! Destrachan! Dragon Turtle!)

Probably a little of column A, a little of column B. From a little research I did today, the concept of wife/spouse as animal shapeshifter/weird thing is a pretty universal concept. Throw in Christianity reinterpreting (?) native folklore, sprinkle in some Soviet cultural oppression, and it's a litt...

Re: Jab's Rifts Builds (Mystic Ninja, Tengu, Cyber Samurai)

Just saw that Bundle of Holding has two Rifts bundles running for the next few weeks.

Essentials
Worldbooks

Dunno if there's anything really worth getting in there other than getting it cheaper.

Re: Batgirl III's Character Thread (Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd)

Apparently Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd were popular to parody or reference at one point, since Kids Next Door had two guys who talk in pretty much exactly the same way, called Mr. Wink and Mr. Fibb. Are Croup and Vandemar (from Neverwhere) take offs of the characters or a form of parallel development?

Re: Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd

In the 2003 TMNT cartoon there was a pair of villains named Mr. Touch and Mr. Go, I now realise the way they spoke to each other must have been based on these two. Bad Touch! Bad Touch! ================================================================================================= Name the Bond s...

Do you have any familiarity with WarMachine or Anima? Both look gorgeous and I've been collecting some of the books for the art but I've never seen either of them actually being played.

Qualitative vs Quantitative measurements

I just came across this article from the BBC during lunch today. We've had quite a few discussions on common.. and uncommon! measurements around here and was curious about thoughts. Some of the items that are listed as qualitative in the article don't sit with me quite right.. I thought that they we...
