Re: Modern Comics & Relationships Between Heroes

Well, to be honest Johnny Storm had been at this kind of relationship since forever. He pretty much decided that Crystal was the love of his life after 4 panels and ... [drumrolls, please] she actually reciprocated! I think that the reason why today this kind of on-demand relationship are miore noti...

Re: Warhammer 40,000 (Ogryns, Ratlings, Beastmen)

Bretonnia and the Tomb Kings were “squatted” when WHFB became Age of Sigmar . The product lines were discontinued, literally overnight. However, they did publish AoS rules for both (as free PDFs no less) and they are still legal armies (they’re actually rather good when used skillfully). Chaos Dwar...

New look and writer for Batgirl. Not a big fan of the mask, but the rest of the costume looks good.
So they took Brereton's Thrillkiller mask, stitched and it to the original costume... I can live with that.

* Random rolling for backstory when almost every player would prefer to do that manually. Almost every is not all. There's a sizeable minority of players who just want to get to the action, and lifepath background generators have always been surprisingly popular. They feature quite heavily in Shado...

Re: Warhammer 40,000 (Ibram Gaunt, Imperial Guard Hero)

Debate rages* as to whether or not the name of the Mordian Iron Guard's homeworld is named "Mordian" or "Mordia." In the very earliest mentions of the planet in the sourcebooks, the planet was was Mordia and the demonym was Mordian... Just like the Cadian are from Cadia and the Valhallan are from V...

Re: King Kong (MonsterVerse)

-This is the hero of Kong: Skull Island , which I haven't seen. He's actually shorter than the Toho version, probably because it's easier to have a smaller Kong interact with human-sized characters. The movie stated explicitly that this version of Kong isn't fully grown yet and he's probably the eq...

Re: Solo: A Star Wars movie

That’s not the issue; I’m just struggling to understand why you’re saying a book or a television show is enough to make up for a film’s failings. I'm not. All I said was that their existence made that film necessary. The movie isn't less bad because the novelization tells the story better, it just ...

And now Johns is out too.
The Peter Principle — people in a hierarchy tend to rise to their "level of incompetence“ — strikes hard and mercilessly. Johns was a great writer and a decent editor, but he was a pretty hapless executive.
I thought that was the Dilbert Principle.

Re: Warhammer 40,000 (Ork Battlewagon)

There are some absolutely hilariously well done “joke” WH40k armies out there. My personal favorite is the guy that has the nearly the entire Ultramarines Chapter as the cast of The Simpsons . Given the cost of GW miniatures, I’ve never really indulged in such shenanigans myself... Except back in j...

Re: Castellia- A Fantasy Setting (Sphinxes! Fairies! Nixies! KENDER!!!)

My head canon, particularly in 4th edition, is that both the agrarian homebodies and the lithe adventurers exist, with the former as the majority of the halflings -- and the lithe adventurer the result of a hormone change in a given halfling. It eventually subsides, after about twenty years, though...

Re: Warehouse W - Bonelli Comics: Tex, Carson, Tiger Jack, Mephisto

Very neat! An evil warlock is exactly how you make a "Western" story unique. He seems like such a unique character type for that genre. I also like how he can't just wave his arms around and do anything, too. And that his appearances seem rather sparse compared to American super-villains. Yep, the ...

Re: Castellia- A Fantasy Setting (Sphinxes! Fairies! Nixies! KENDER!!!)

Kender are probably the Paltonic Ideal of “character that works in fiction, but does not work in roleplaying.” Tasslehoff was an enjoyable part of the original Dragonlance novels, but only Weiss and Hickman really ever seemed to be able to make him (or any other Kender) work as a character. Plenty ...
