Re: Recycling Ideas - When is and isn't it okay?

So I was watching The Running Man tonight, and as is often the case, a thought occurred. The idea of humans hunting humans for entertainment was at least codified in the story The Most Dangerous Game , but has been re-used over and over in fiction, whether it was basically adapted into the characte...

Re: What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

Huh. I thought they lost the Conan rights to Dark Horse, and that Dynamite currently has the rights to Red Sonja. Where I'd heard that they got them back -- as Dark Horse is really not doing very well these days -- but was expecting any series featuring him to be as siloed from the MU as their Star...

Re: Disney / Fox Merger Finalized Today

Disney has, to my knowledge, never really had their own comics publishing, people always paid them for the privilege of publishing books with their characters. Marvel is the first time they've acquired a comic book company, but Disney has also shown that they're willing to license their properties ...

Re: King I

-King's appearance is largely based off of Satoryu Sayama, the original Tiger Mask, one of the originators of the high-flying "Junior Heavyweight" style that would since change the course of wrestling history, as its style became reflected in North American Cruiserweights, then Ring of Honor, then ...

Yeah, I just read about this. I remember seeing his name on every episode of Beast Wars.
That's no surprise, he and Bob Forward (also a veteran of Filmation) pretty invented that part of the Transformes Franchise.

Re: The most petty thing you'd do as a comics creator

Batman and Catwoman On the subject of Batman and Catwoman I had this image stuck in my mind for a while. Not long after the honeymoon, Bruce is trying to open the secret door behind the clock and it doesn't work. Bruce: Alfred? Alfred: Yes, master Bruce. Bruce: Do you know what happened to the 'cel...

Re: Tactical combat

1st edition was very close to the general d20 in terms of combat rules. Given that I would advise against using the classic tactical map and AoO, because they work very poorly with stuff like flight, teleportation and super-speed.

Re: Michelle Chang

-A peculiarity in the Tekken series for many reasons, Michelle Chang is an odd example of the Japanese tendency towards making minorities (to them) biracial (usually with a Japanese parent) in order to make them more... I dunno, palatable? Understandable? Relatable? to Japanese audiences. I don't w...

It was a bit of pity that in Champion Online Sapphire appeared only in the tutorial stage.

Because again, Ennis & Dillon.
It's stuff like this, along with the gratuitous violence and spiteful way the duo treats things like superheroes that pretty much makes it impossible for me to enjoy anything they do.
You and me both.

Re: Pyre

-God, how many Venom one-shots WERE THERE in the early 1990s? I swear, before they finally bit the bullet and gave him his own solo book, Venom starred in like two or three of these per year. Since Venom didn't have a true series back then, but rather a number of semi-related limited series. Each o...

Re: Jab’s Builds (The Punisher! Jigsaw! Punisher Foes! Microchip!)

Since I started reading Punisher during the Battlewagon era, I usually consider Microchip kind of essential to the character identity. Aside from being a forerunner of the whole concept of every major hero having some kind of support team behind, it also provided the necessary foil to Frank and also...
