Re: Jab’s Builds! (Jessica Cruz! Star Boy! The Fatal Five! Visionaries!)

Just one of those weird things in fiction where a character can turn into one of the most feared predators on the planet and still be considered useless. Thing is, given most civilizations need to be near a reliable source of water to live, Virulina's tactics should really have involved trying to g...

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Jessica Cruz! Star Boy! The Fatal Five! Visionaries!)

For one, turn the Power Staffs into Power Shields. Much more of a knightly thing than the awkward staffs. Secondly, make it clear that Galadria and Virulina could both power/operate vehicles as well. That's kind of funny, since the tie-in Marvel Comics series Galadria and Virulina actually got shie...

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Jessica Cruz! Star Boy! Miss Martian! The Fatal Five!)

The Visionaries in general were a fun concept, and just an example of how full of creativity and energy the 80s were. They got a brief revival recently as part of the shared Hasbro-verse that IDW was putting out, but due to the creative team and some bad decisions, it didn't really go anywhere. The...

Re: Jab's Rifts Builds (Mountain Giants! Worm Wraith! Dinosaurs!)

Just gotta say, dinosaurs in a western setting is just awesome. Dinosaurs in a post-apocalyptic western setting with mutants, magic, cybernetics and psionics is just metal. It's kinda mind-blowing that they were sitting on this idea- even had ART for it, yet almost the entire book is just cowboys a...

Re: batman is the best...

Personally, the only category where I usually put Batman at the absolute top of the game is forensics and investigations (with only Question really coming any close thanks to weaponized paranoia). In many other fields, he's usually within the top ten, but not in each and every one. For example, I ca...

Re: What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

The whole Perpetua / Monitor / Anti-Monitor World Forger retcon again feels like someone deciding to just flip the script on the DCU again. This is something like the third or fourth different origin they've given the Anti-Monitor at this point. For all the problems the original Crisis caused, it's...

Historia: Not Your Usual Fantasy Setting

Okay, this is a big shout out to my friends of Mana Project Studio, who have just launched their second Kickstarter. Last year they created Kourney to Ragnarok a Norse-themed campaign/setting for D&D 5th Edition. This time we have Historia and the realm of Vesteria, where it's raining cats and dogs....

Re: Jab's Rifts Builds (Justice Ranger! Gunslinger! Psi-Slinger!)

Wow, this book really reminds me of how much better/simpler Rifts could be if it was a more customizable system. Maybe not all the way point buy, just more options. The XP chart system where each class has its own needed xp to move on to the next level helps a little but not by much. I also ran int...

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Hammer Bros.! Peach! Piranha Plants! Koopa Kids!)

"Lemmy is the most insane & childish of the Koopalings (an impressive distinction with THIS group, to be sure), named for Lemmy Kilmister of the horribly-overrated growl-band Motorhead." So, I have loved your builds for years, but now I am Offended (with a capital "O"). Why would you say this? This...

Psi-slinger is a really nice concept.

Re: Jab's Rifts Builds (Rifts New West! Sheriffs! Bounty Hunters!)

Well I haven't commented in a while because of my shitty internet connection, but as a big fan sci-fi westerns this last book seems right up my alley... Except that it feels like it fell in all those logical traps that always made me hesitant to even try playing Rifts (redundant classes, over-relian...

Re: Double Dragon

1994 would see the release of a Double Dragon motion picture, starring Scott Wolf (of Party of Five fame) and some guy I've never heard of as the Lee brothers, and Alyssa Milano as Marian.  His name's Mark Dacascos, and as an actual martial artist he was the only person in the film with any actual ...

Nailing Superman

This piece isn't mine, it's from John Wick (the author of 7thSea a lot of other games) and I think he really nailed one of the key points about Superman: he does care.

You can find it here http://johnwickpresents.com/updates/my-superman

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Shiv! Degaton! Kestrel! Johnny Sorrow! Deathlok!)

One of the weaknesses of the dreadnoughts was also that cooling system was located in the abdomen area, making it a rather easy target. The problem was that a dreadnought without a working cooling system would overheat and explode.

A blast from the past

Hey guys, this is something I wanted to show you. It's a credits page from a 1979 issue of Topolino (i.e. the weekly Mickey Mouse comic magazine from Italy) and look who poped up among the writers. IMG_20190801_203337.jpg As far as I was able to gather Jerry Siegel worked for the Disney Italia Studi...
