Re: M&M 3e Chain Lighitning!

He could but if there's 10 bad guys, that would be a -10 on his attack. Exactly. Not exactly how chain lightning normally works, but this is as close as you'll get to the actual mechanics. You can always think of the increased penalty as being related to the casting of the spell making it harder to...

Re: 3e OOC - LSH - Dawnfire Rising

If we're going that route, and since we're doing some character rearranging anyways, I think I may sub out Princess (despite her having seen no actual real action yet) for something a little more conventional. If Blade doesn't mind that is.

Re: M&M 3e Chain Lighitning!

So let me get this straight, the Multiattack number is how many targets that can be hit per strike? Nope. When you make your attack, you decide how many targets you want to jump the lightning to. The attack has a penalty on the roll equal to that number. The rank of the extra you throw on there onl...

Re: M&M 3e Chain Lighitning!

So Multiattack but can't used for single targets? I.e: It has to walked for multiple targets? Yes, I'd put that as a limit on the Multi-attack Extra. Damaged PR10, Ranged (+1/rank), Multiattack (limited to 'walking/arc' option) (+0.5/rank), for a total cost of [25PP] Considering you are giving up t...

Re: 3e OOC - LSH - Dawnfire Rising

I'm kinda in that area of "I like my character, but have no real idea what to do with her in regards to the plot", so yeah, I like the idea of something a bit more collaborative. And I agree regarding Bladewind's chops as it were. I remember some of the stuff he ran back on ATT. Honestly, I feel bad...

Re: M&M 3e Chain Lighitning!

Mmmhmm... and? Chain lighting jumps from target to target along a path making an attack roll against each target. I am not seeing a mechanical difference here.

The point was adding a quirk so that a missed attack halts further attacks in the "arc"

You're worrying about the description, not the mechanic.

Re: Homebrew RWBY system [WiP]

Oh jeeze text walls...not my forte, but let's slog through this, since it'll be helpful in the longrun to address questions. ***Did I do that right or should a roll to attack always go against a roll to defend? Well.... first off, there is no real initiative. Combat kicks off by whoever instigates i...

Re: M&M 3e Chain Lighitning!

nah the ranged multi attacks problem is it doesn't really jump like a chain lightning would. the shapeable area effect attack covers that nicely anything in the "" area "" is hit as the lightning bolt "jumps' to it and anyone not hit just managed to dodge or avoid the bolt Not sure what you are tal...

Yeah, the forum seems to have gotten very slow in the past few weeks. At first it was just the holidays season, but then it's like some just haven't come back after. :/

Re: [Interest] RWBY

Also worth mentioning; as this is effectively a play test, feel free to provide and discuss feedback. It's invaluable to the design process. And a disclaimer that I may well implement changes on the fly in response to a really good idea that may result in some sheet revisions. (The downside of using...

Re: M&M 3e Chain Lighitning!

If it were me, I would make it a ranged multiattack with a quirk that missing any attack halts the rest.

Downside is that you have to pick how many targets you want to try and hit as that imposes a penalty on the attack roll. Still, it's as close to the classic chain lightning as you're like to get.
