Re: Power Talk: Discussing the Effectiveness of Effects

Here's a thought for people like me who have an issue with Presence only having three dedicated skills: remove the Daze and Fascinate advantages. They're a skill now. Call it Charm, or Magnetism, or Charisma, or whatever you like. It's your ability to capture people's attention. Suddenly it's more d...

Re: Doctor Octopus (Olivia Octavius): Earth-T1

The Spider-Gang succeeded in stopping the device from destroying the multiverse. She attempted to stop the Spider-Gang, but was hit by a truck that flew out of the dimensional portal; presumably killing her, but she survived and was transported to Earth-T1 where she has taken over the Doctor Octopu...

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Old Fighting Games! Marauders! Scalphunter! Arclight!)

Arclight's costume is kind of interesting. It's like she looked at Thundra and went, "I want that, but made of metal."

Re: NetherWar: Master of Earth (OOC)

It's a shame, but I appreciate getting a message to make it official. GMing games is hard work.

Re: A World Less Magical But No Less Fantastic

Japan is the Emperor's next anticipated conquest. Sure, he could arrange for their systems to shut down when the time comes, but it's so much more efficient if they don't have any protection at all. Switzerland considered buying one, but ultimately decided that it wasn't cost-effective. Is the Empe...

How plentiful are gadgets such as this?

Re: 2020 US Election on 11/3

If every state had been allowed to start counting mail-in/absentee ballots ahead of time, a lot of this misery could have been avoided. Not all of it, but a lot of it.

Re: JDRook's Revised DCA Builds - Batwoman! Beast Boy! Big Barda!

Which is stupid both in concept and execution. Oh, it's spectacularly dumb. But it's how DC comics (and Marvel, really) does things. Spider-Man has his status as an underdog and an everyman tied tightly into his appeal, so you might see him lose a fight against a less popular character if it makes ...

Re: JDRook's Revised DCA Builds - Batwoman! Beast Boy! Big Barda!

Barda has never been that prominent a character but she has gotten a fair amount of screen time. In most of the stuff I've seen and read featuring her she is clearly portrayed as being at or close to Wonder Woman's level in combat ability. I made her PL14. The power level of a character is I think ...

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Maj. America! The Falcon! Isaiah Bradley!)

Moreover, this story pushed me to do a bit of research about the Tuskegee Study, which is one those things that I could believe at first and it took a long time to sink in. Now that sounds like storytelling done right. Good stories make you think about the real world. I'll have to give it a try; li...

Re: JDRook's Revised DCA Builds - The GDBM & Supporting Cast

I suspect the choice to set Batman at PL12 was contentious. His stories range from street level stuff that would be in the PL8-10 range, all the way up to Justice League global+ threats that would be PL12-15. The problem with setting the PL 12 Batgod as the "default" Batman is that everyt...

Re: Strangeworld

GRAVEN THE MAGNIFICENT In a world shaped by magic, who's the greatest magician of them all? It's a big, complicated question, with no consensus answer, but there's one name that shows up on just about everyone's list: Derek Graven, the playboy archmage of Portent City. Creator of the revolutionary P...

Re: Strangeworld

THE STRANGER, part two Bryan Bierce's earliest strong memory is of crushing a chair leg in his hand as a small child and marveling that the world was so fragile. It was a feeling that stayed with him as he grew older, as he went from orphanage to foster home, and through the school system: either he...
