The above is the map that I use for my gaming settings.
I'd love to drop a preview but linking using the img tags didn't work for me.

Re: Mil-Spec (homebrew setting for all my games)
Since so many video games are similar, I generally tend to just group them together and assume they are the same event, just different locations. So zombie games like 7 Days to Die, Dead Island 2 and Dying Light 2 are the same event, but one is happening in Navazgane, Arizona while another is in LA ...

Re: Superhero games without PIS and with lethality
Well, it is much more effective to build a super, then let them get a ton of equipment than to build a gadgeteer. It just seems more... efficient point wise to make a magician that uses equipment, than to build a super that does the same thing, but more expensive on the PP. The big advantage to powe...

Re: Superhero games without PIS and with lethality
Not really? Magic and tech are methods, not powers IMO. Tech, you just pick up a new tool, and magic you learn a new spell. Powers are more like a set of things you can do that generally don't change. They might get stronger, and might gain some new effect, but that's about it. Eye lasers vs laser g...

Re: Superhero games without PIS and with lethality
I prefer the way 3rd edition does super strength, and while I think I'm a minority, I actually prefer the way it does skills, too. My preferred supers game at the moment is actually Prowlers and Paragons, which does almost all of the stuff I like about M&M and almost none of the stuff I don't l...

Re: Superhero games without PIS and with lethality
Yeah, I've been running a 2.5E game for a while and I don't really see the appeal of 3E except that it does a better job of 4-color games... which I just don't like.

Re: Superhero games without PIS and with lethality
1) supersoldiers, mutations, crazy scientists
2) mental illness although I wouldn't say that dressing up is mandatory.
3) villains are not dressing up, they are just normal level villains who use normal weapons.
Basically, superheroes at their lowest feats without wank.

Superhero games without PIS and with lethality
*PIS = Plot Induced Stupidity What would a campaign with superpowers look like (in M&M or Champions) where villains are not stupid and don't follow the genre convention of low lethality? Basically, what happens when superheroes wander onto the set of Blackhawk Down or Saving Private Ryan so that...

Re: Stretching the Ranks & Measures Table
I agree with your observations. I basically just went back to 2nd edition so that there are numerical stats and bonuses instead of just bonuses. I also don't cap skills until +20, so that a human can conceivably have a +20 skill, and a +6 ability score. I use the same scale as 3E, but the mass for p...

Re: Mil-Spec (homebrew setting for all my games)
I usually just sort of take something I like and nest it inside of another setting. The Cthulhu Mythos is the base setting. That way I can have magic, monsters, aliens, etc. without much thought. The Encyclopedia Cthulhiana is one of the main sources about how the overall setting works. Plus, if a p...

Mil-Spec (homebrew setting for all my games)
Hello all, This is a project that started in... um the very early late 80's when I started roleplaying and my friends didn't like having to learn new lore for each game we were playing. We wanted a continuous story for all of our characters. That job became mine... one friend would buy the games, an...

Re: Batgirl III's Character Thread
That Kevin Long... dude couldn't draw people (or Dog Boys) to save his life, but Killer Robots? Hell yeah. Kinda late, and probably not the right place...but what ever happened to Kevin Long? His artwork is what sold me on Rifts (well, that and the Altarian BWW...oh, and that Druid in the original ...

Re: Batgirl III's Character Thread (Richie Ryan, Methos)
Got a writeup for the White Dragon? This has a very Shadowrun feel to it, but only a PL 10? I guess that is because she is a PC. -STS http://orig10.deviantart.net/5990/f/2013/222/0/2/reddragon_render_by_magicheetah-d6hhgwc.png Original Art: TSR / Wizards of the Coast THE RED DRAGON Power Level 10 ( ...
