Re: Jab's Builds! (Angela! David Xanatos! Owen! Coldstone! Demona!)

One fun thing from the comic expansion Greg did a while back was that he had Thailog join the Illuminati, and he either had equal or higher ranking than Xanatos.

Re: Jab's Builds! (Angela! David Xanatos! Owen! Coldstone! Demona!)

I believe Weisman mentioned that the Weird Sisters act differently depending on which sister is "in charge" at the moment, that each individual sister's power ebbs and flows so that the trio act in concert with whomever is most prominent at the time. It's sort of like the shifting of the moon, with ...

Re: BriarThrone Reviews: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS)

What's funny to me was that, before The Last Jedi, I felt the Prequels and the Force Awakens had the exact opposite problems. From a lore and story perspective, the Prequels were actually amazing. We got to see the Old Republic just before it fell, the Jedi Order at the height of its authority (if n...

Re: BriarThrone Reviews: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS)

When Finn asks why she did that, she says, "We aren't going to win by killing what we hate. We're going to win by saving what we love." And then plants a kiss on him before passing out. I just . . . WAT? The pair showed absolutely no romantic chemistry throughout the film. And "saving what we love"...

Needs some Colt .45 malt liquor.
The movie could definitely drive someone to drink. I might need to pour myself some of Qui-Gon's Gin.

Re: BriarThrone Reviews: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS)

So, I've talked with a couple of friends and had time to think the movie over a bit . . . and my feelings are pretty much the same, but the one thing I will acknowledge is that the writer/director of The Last Jedi got a pretty raw deal. The guy only has one really successful movie under his belt, na...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Elisa! The Pack! The Labyrinth Clan! Bluestone!)

One thing I liked about Gargoyles was that there were rules to how things worked, magic included. Weisman mentioned somewhere that magic in Gargoyles couldn't create a permanent effect save for two instances: the effect was bound in a physical object (ie, the various magical items in the setting) or...

Re: BriarThrone Reviews: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS)

So I saw the movie yesterday with my dad . . . and we both basically hated the movie. To the point where it's seriously in competition for my least favorite Star Wars film of all time. There were parts I liked about the film. The opening starfighter battle felt VERY Star Wars, the scene of the Falco...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Elisa! The Pack! The Labyrinth Clan! Bluestone!)

The comic did some work expanding on the Illuminati, with some interesting concepts. They had a literal pyramid hierarchy, with everyone being given a number for their tier. So you had a single #1 at the top, a pair of #2's, a trio of #3's, etc. It was Illuminati protocol to announce your rank to ea...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Brooklyn! Broadway! Hudson! Elisa! The Pack!)

Minor correction, but the Mutates didn't have tails. It also makes me wonder, could Sevarius have just given people electric eel powers without the cat and bat DNA? The latter is what apparently caused the major physical changes, was it possible Sevarius could have created a bunch of Cole MacGraths ...

Also, WOOOOOO- 500 pages! In only a year! My GOD this topic is gonna be insanely-huge after a couple of years. Providing Ares and I don't go to war over him going insane with Mod-Power or something :). If it ever gets to that point, or if I can't do my (admittedly very easy) job here, I'll turn the...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Goliath! Brooklyn! Broadway! Hudson! Elisa!)

I'm so grateful Elisa came out when she did on the show she did. I cringe at the thought of what many modern writers would have done with her. She's a female cop, half-American Indian, half-African mixed heritage, the only regular human companion to the gargoyles, and she was obviously much beloved ...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Goliath! Brooklyn! Broadway! Hudson! Elisa!)

Sevarius was fun if for no other reason than Tim Curry was clearly having a blast playing the character. Curry seemed like the type to really enjoy a "evil for evil's sake" bad guy like Sevarius. Sevarius was also one of the instances that really cemented how evil Xanatos could be. He took an extrem...
