Re: J-Mart: LADIES WEEK! Warrior Woman, Sin, Power Princess, Lady Shiva, Lady Vic
As for Lady Shiva, I tend to think that while she'd have an edge on Batman in hand-to-hand combat (6.5-7/10), that'd basically put her in the same league as the Bronze Tiger and Shang Chi, though Shiva would have a more fearsome reputation due to her going around and seeking out such masters to defe...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Substitute Heroes! Thunder! Brainiac 5! White Witch!)
Likewise, I think for my own setting, I'd make Andromeda someone from Modern Themyscria, an Amazon rather than a Daxamite or Kryptonian, who was brought on as more permanent muscle. She could have the same kind of personality as SW6 Andromeda, including the Brainiac romance, but have something more...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Substitute Heroes! Thunder! Brainiac 5! White Witch!)
Making Kinetix a Maxima legacy would have been a bad move, IMO. There was already enough ties to Superman as is without adding another person to it. I actually liked the idea of her being an adventuring archeologist who got her powers via a magical artifact, as that's at least a bit more interesting...

Re: Your first "Cartoon crush"
Oh God, that Legend of Zelda cartoon. Danny of the Game Grumps summed it up perfectly: "Imagine taking this silent protagonist, a hero of two games who saved the world from evil, and when given the opportunity to give him a voice, you make him sound like the most douchey, dude-bro character imaginab...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Substitute Heroes! Thunder! Brainiac 5! White Witch!)
Kinetix was interesting in that she was meant to be a reimagined version of one of the Champions of Lallor, a minor group of heroes in the Legions time that included people like Duplicate Boy. One of the Champions was a girl named Life Lass, who could imbue inanimate objects with "life", ezsentially...

Re: Jab's Builds! (The Legion of Substitute Heroes! Thunder! Brainiac 5!)
I think if anything, I think comic book writers who set their stories in the future seem to forget that they're writing in a superhero setting. Sure, the tech is more advanced, and there's likely folks with superpowers, but it's the future of a comic book world. And comic book worlds have had magic ...

Re: J-Mart: LADIES NIGHT! Warrior Woman, Sin, Power Princess
Supreme Power went with the "Ultimates" logic of "realistic superheroes", in the sense that everyone in the setting were complete jerkes, had some severe mental issues, or were some flavor of amoral. In that setting, Blurr was the only one who was genuinely heroic and well-adjusted.

I want to say some Star Trek writer responded to a question about "How fast can the Enterprise fly?" with "At the speed of plot."

Re: Jab's Builds! (Karate Kid! Projectra! Legion of Substitute Heroes!)
Given that Kara Zor-El's only other main love interest was Comet the Super-Horse... I'm thinking that Brainy was definitely the better match. I mean, he never cheated on her with Superman's Gal, Lois Lane, or Wonder Woman's ancient foe, Circe. No. I am not making any of that up. The thought of Brai...

Old-school Video Games with Insane(ly Awesome) Backstories
Video game players today take for granted that you'll get all of the story within the game itself. Back in the 80s and early 90s, if the game had any story at all, you'd most likely have to get the backstory from the instruction booklets that came with each game. Again, back before you had a tutoria...

Re: Jab's Builds! (The Legion of Substitute Heroes! Thunder! Brainiac 5!)
Yeah, Giffen apparently makes a decent co-plotter, but when given actual writing duties he just becomes very weird. His sense of humor really isn't my thing either, and it's amazing how he can go from being a part of what is basically the Byrne/Clarmont Legion era to "The Guy Who Did the Most Damage...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Karate Kid! Projectra! Legion of Substitute Heroes!)
Hey- question: Has anyone here read interviews regarding the reboots and the decision making processes for them? Like why the obvious "Soft Reboot" of the SW6 kids was just dumped and they got rebooted fully? I mean, the reasons are easy to guess, but I'd like to get takes from the writers. From wh...
