Re: Disney / Fox Merger Finalized Today

Disney never had its own comic publishing company in the U.S.A. , in several European and South American countries (most notably Italy, France and Brasil) there are -- or were until recently -. branches of Disney that specialized purely in comics. Interesting. I knew Disney comics were popular abro...

Re: Jab's Rifts Builds

The appeal to Rifts is not hard to see. It's basically Thundarr the Barbarian: The Game . I do love me some Thundarr the Barbarian. There was actually a fun fan RPG of it called "Under a Broken Moon", which is an AWESOME name for an RPG. Though to be fair, Rifts is more like Thundarr meets Fallout ...

Re: Disney / Fox Merger Finalized Today

Disney has, to my knowledge, never really had their own comics publishing, people always paid them for the privilege of publishing books with their characters. Marvel is the first time they've acquired a comic book company, but Disney has also shown that they're willing to license their properties ...

Re: Disney / Fox Merger Finalized Today

I don't think that'll happen. Disney has literally no reason to do that at the moment. The most likely instance of something even remotely like that happening is the continual shrinking of the print comics industry will continue apace, for reasons set in motion decades ago and which Disney themselv...

Re: The most petty thing you'd do as a comics creator

In fairness to John though it almost always ends up being a case of you played yousefl as often as he wins, its literaly a case of no matter how much John wins he almost always loses something in the process because he isn't as clever as he thinks he is. Yes I do agree a good portion of it is that ...

Re: Disney / Fox Merger Finalized Today

A larger part of me wonders what this will mean to Marvel Comics, if it'll wind up basically being turned into a department that merely controls who gets to outsource their comics rather than self-publish them. It's kind of scary to think of Marvel as we know it ending. I don't think that'll happen...

Policy regarding new films and spoilers

I decided there needed to be some policy regarding new films and spoilers, since not everyone will be able to see a movie on opening weekend. Simply put, when a new movie comes out, all discussion of it should be try to be spoiler free for the first two weeks, allowing everyone who is likely to see ...

Re: Jab’s Builds (Julia! Kazuya! Lucky Chloe! Lee! Heihachi! Kuma!)

Well, that's the thing about fighting: it's all about getting the other person to fight your way and not fight their way. The best martial artists are people who have developed a style that plays to their strengths and are good enough to know how to make other people fight their fight instead of fig...

Re: The most petty thing you'd do as a comics creator

I want to say I've mentioned this in another thread, but I'm not a fan of John Constantine. To me he's basically Harry Dresden, but without any of the qualities I like about Harry. And whenever John shows up, he's almost always managing to out-scheme other heroes he shares page space with, including...

Re: What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

So Conan is guest-starring in Avengers: No Road Home . Huh. I thought they lost the Conan rights to Dark Horse, and that Dynamite currently has the rights to Red Sonja. Where I'd heard that they got them back -- as Dark Horse is really not doing very well these days -- but was expecting any series ...

Disney / Fox Merger Finalized Today

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/20/disney-ceo-bob-iger-sent-a-memo-to-employees-fox-deals-close.html I'm curious to see where things go from here. Disney just acquired a lot of properties for themselves and the streaming service they plan to promote, as well as new additions for the various parks. For ...

It feels like the ratio of shitty to good is 10 to 1, but there's a few gems buried underneath all the turds.

Re: Jab’s Builds (Julia! Kazuya! Lucky Chloe! Lee! Heihachi! Kuma!)

-Since bears are not able to live extremely long lives, Kuma was forced to be written out of Tekken 3 , which is far in the future of Tekken 2 's setting. And so we have Kuma's "Generation Xerox" son, Kuma II, who received the same training from Heihachi, and takes up the same role. He's known for ...

Re: Jab’s Builds (Julia Chang! Kazuya! Lucky Chloe! Lee! Heihachi!)

When it comes to martial arts, there is definitely a contingent that wants to keep their styles "pure" and those that want them to adapt to the times. And honestly, I think there's room for both, at least after a fashion. The main problem with "pure" styles is that they often suffer from what TV Tro...
