Re: First M&M 3e character build

Hey there! Welcome to our little corner of the internet. I'm looking forward to these builds. The MC2 setting was something that I feel didn't get nearly enough exposure, as it felt like a decent progression of the mid-90s Marvel and sort of Tom DeFalco's own playground. It actually felt more like c...

Re: BB Code Questions

I've got all of the features included in the basic phpBB package activated. Any additional features for the site, including things like tables, direct video linking, extra BBCodes and the like would have to be installed manually by myself. I'd be willing to look into doing so if you guys think it's ...

SHINNOK First Appearance: Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero Total Appearances: MK 4 (Playable Boss), MK: Armageddon Role: The Big Boss, "Dark Lord" Villainl, Dark God Was it really a good idea to name a villain something that looks like someone just tossed an "i" into "shnook"? Re: Your Favorite Crossovers - Book and Comic edition

I gave it a quick read-through, but was mostly just underwhelmed. Honestly, I mostly enjoyed what Geoff Johns did with Billy in the pre-nu52 days of the Justice Society book, but the current conception of Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family may just be too flawed to salvage. IMHO, either revert th...

Re: Your Favorite Crossovers - Book and Comic edition

I will say, one thing I definitely enjoyed was that the power of Shazam actually plays a role in the He-Man/Injustice story. Injustice Superman makes a direct reference to Billy, comparing him and Adam, and it shows how far Superman has fallen. He talks about Billy's idealism, his ability to separat...

Re: What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

A problem for is that they still seem to be pushing the idea of the Shazam Family as a group of lightning shooting flying bricks with potential to be wizards. And it still doesn't feel right having Captain Marvel shooting lightning out of his hands. It's weird, because as a kid I thought that was an...

Re: Pulse Pounding Adventures - Pulp and Film Serial Discussion

And I just finished up the first official novel crossover of Doc Savage and the Shadow. While the villain was a bit lower tier for the meeting of such mega-heroes, the interplay between the two of them was great. It really shows them both as being effective and dangerous, and we do get a fight betwe...

Re: Your Favorite Crossovers - Book and Comic edition

I'm currently enjoying the heck out of "Injustice vs The Masters of the Universe", a sequel to the ThunderCats/Masters of the Universe series from a year or two ago.

Can He-Man and the Masters of the Universe overthrow a tyrannical Superman? Read and find out!

Re: What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

So, the first issue of Geoff Johns new "Shazam" series came out. And I was actually surprised. I didn't hate it. I don't like it, but I don't hate it. That might be damning with faint praise, but at least here I didn't end the book wanting to do bad things to Geoff Johns. Because you have to underst...

Re: Jade

Kind of reminds me of the reasoning behind the Phantom Lady costume. "Do you really think a set of goggles over your eyes is really going to keep anyone from figuring out who you are?" "Please. No one is going to be looking at my face." Though that would make sense how Power Girl has a secret ident...

Re: What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

But credit where credit is due: the new Amazing Spider-Man series has been a solid Spider-Man run. Peter and MJ are back together in a natural way, and while Spencer does push the "can't get no respect" angle a bit much, this really feels like 90% of a good Spider-Man book, where Peter is actually ...

Re: What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

I'm not a fan of generalizing any large swath of Americans as potential traitors unless they prove otherwise. If they wanted to say a small group like Antifa was, well, they already claim to be communists and are actual violent thugs, so it works. But to paint several states as essentially being tra...

Re: Mortal Mooks

-These Masked Buttholes showed up in the Mortal Kombat movie to fight off Liu Kang & Friends, and went down in droves, but they're still pretty tough. One guy even got picked to challenge Sub-Zero, who basically started glowing and froze the dude solid in mid-air, resulting in him shattering into a...
