Re: Favorite moment of character growth in comics.

One of my favorite bits was from the early issues of Iron Fist. See, when Danny first came out, he was a very serious, stoic individual consumed with revenge. He had no sense of humor, he was completely dedicated to avenging his parents, and it was only his truly good nature that would let him brief...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Beast! Gaston! Aladdin! Jasmine! Genie! Jafar!)

Huh. Prince Humperdink was Jack Skellington. The Princess Bride is my favorite movie and I never knew that. Learn something new every day.

Re: Captain Marvel MCU

Brie Larson has no charisma. Yeah, that was my big takeaway from the film. Unless she's suppose to be acting robotic because she's disconnected from her memories and she regains some of her emotions over the film, the Carol Danvers we see in the trailer has all the charisma of a brick. I'm looking ...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Beast! Gaston! Aladdin! Jasmine! Genie! Jafar!

I'd heard a rumor that Jafar was designed by a woman well into her pregnancy, and basically channeled all of the discomfort she was feeling (cramps, hormones, etc.) into Jafar's design to create the most loathsome person she could think of.

Re: Jab's Builds! (Belle! The Servants! The Beast! Gaston!)

Rumor has it that eventually the writers just had lines to the effect of "Robin Williams says something funny here" and just let the master go to work.

Re: Jab's Builds! (Belle! The Servants! The Beast! Gaston!)

I always saw Gaston as Disney poking fun at the perception of the typical Disney Prince. He basically looks like someone took the princes from Snow White and Cinderella and gave them a massive case of testosterone poisoning. In the way that Belle is an ultimate geek fantasy, Gaston is a perfect vill...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Beauty and the Beast! Belle! The Beast!)

It'd be interesting trying to make a "Justice League/Avengers" type squad of the non-anthropomorphic Disney films. Most of the animated films really aren't "action" shows, though there is usually some action elements in each film. Raw power wise, the Genie is likely the most powerful Disney hero, ev...

Though Elisa Maza wore that dress better. :D This statement requires scientific verification. As we know, the only way that science works is to test these theories over and over and over... :D Two words "thigh holster". And here's what I call exhibits D. Not quite Double D, but still: https://photo...

Re: Jab's Builds! (Ariel! Ursula! Triton! Beauty and the Beast! Belle!)

Belle does seem like she was designed to be a nerd ultimate dream girl. She's kind, thoughtful, sweet and intelligent, but also brave and strong. She likes to read, so she's obviously into geeky stuff. She sees right through Gaston, which means she has standards and is sharp (and geeks love the idea...

Re: What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

So, over in the Youtube thread I brought up Professor Geek, a college professor that looks at characters and tries to get into what they mean as far as archetypes. He's a big fan of the DCU, and I find myself agreeing with a lot of what he says regarding a character's archetype, which is essentially...

Professor Geek - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb1OZB ... EYW1yiO-tQ

A pretty cool Youtube Channel I found where an actual college professor that teaches writing and mythology talks about superheroes, comics and other fiction.

Re: Prince Eric

About the Performer: Eric was played by a largely unknown actor, who is mainly known to geeks for playing Peter Parker in the 1990s Spider-Man TV series. He also played Prince Charming in the Cinderella sequels, which is an odd bit of casting (playing TWO Disney Princes?). Jennifer Hale (Black Cat ...

Captain Marvel / Shazam! Thread - Reconstruction and Ramblings

Hey folks. Figured I'd finally just make a general Captain Marvel thread where I can put all of my general thoughts, rambles, rants, raves and so on, rather than pollute the entire board with them. One thing I plan on doing is my own proposal for a "Shazam - Rebirth!" storyline to bring the classic ...

Re: Black Lightning vs Luke Cage tv series

Chi bullets were specifically an Orson Randall thing tho. Danny using guns is just off. He should have just caught the bullet or intentionally redirected it into something to make his point, which is more in keeping with his character.

Re: Jab's Builds! (Great Mouse Detective! Ratigan! Who Framed Roger Rabbit!)

Worth noting that Jessica IS apparently a decent shot with a pistol, as she plugs Doom a few times when he's sneaking up behind Eddie. As for the film itself, it's interesting in that it seems like it'd be some huge crossover event, but it's more of a "faux-over" in the way Wreck-It Ralph is. The lo...
