Re: Small Press Comic Companies - Talk About Em Here

I found Bubble Comics. Its a Russian publisher, the largest in Russia I believe, that has a few neat comics. Not that many translated into English but those that are seem to be pretty well drawn and written, with the odd translation hiccup.

Re: Pulse Pounding Adventures - Pulp and Film Serial Discussion

I always enjoyed the little nods by Fritz Leiber to the Lovecraft work as well, the result of their dialogue despite Leiber just beginning his writing career and Lovecraft being close to ending his. And, of course, Leiber was as much, if not more, of an influence on classical RPGs like Dungeons & D...

Re: Old-school Video Games with Insane(ly Awesome) Backstories

I always liked the original Duke Nukem (the EGA sidescroller) The game is set in the year 1997. Dr. Proton is a madman, determined to take over the world with his army of Techbots. Duke Nukem, the eponymous hero, takes upon the task of stopping him. The first episode takes place in the devastated ci...

Re: Qualitative vs Quantitative measurements

Qualitative measures are only useful if the people using them understand that they're not quantitative. Far too many people either intentionally obscure the difference or are absolutely ignorant that there is a difference. Watch C-SPAN sometime. I tend to agree, but it really depends since there ar...

Re: Bendis moving to DC

Did Bendis just have Jor-El take Clark's family from him, and Lois just let him? The hell? Its more a Clark ultimately decides to let Jor-El spend time with Jon, and Lois chooses to go in an effort to provide the guidance they want for their boy. I'm more annoyed that it resulted in the cancelation...

Re: Qualitative vs Quantitative measurements

I watched a video series by a YouTuber who I respect very much, where she tried to educate her audience on how qualitative evidence could be valid and useful. At every step, I stopped and thought "Could bias or willful ignorance influence this particular step meaningfully? ...yeah, it really could....

Re: Aquaman!!

His name is Black Manta, he goes around with a giant clam on his head with two big red eyes painted on the front, and is an underwater pirate. And he's an Aquaman villain. Most people would look at that and see "silly". If they can make Black Manta half as awesome as he is in the newish run of Aqua...

I think he meant Post-Crisis/Pre-Flashpoint.
Sorry correct, the Superman we get is almost entirely the Post-Crisis/Pre-Flashpoint version of Superman. With a few nods to the Nu52 to explain the continuity stuff.

Also, Jor-El looks like a one-eyed Marlon Brando, so we at least have that.

Re: Bendis moving to DC

However, could someone explain to me how Jon's grandfather can show up, and while Clark and Lois are both "what are you doing here" neither of them is doing a "how can you be here"? Jor-El has been around for a while now. He's the guy who kidnapped Tim Drake over in Detective and he's appeared in t...

Re: Macyn's Golden Gloves Gym(or,Intresting ways to Characterize fighting styles!)

Thanks. Are there sites you can visit that tell you if an instructor is genuine or not? Local review sites are a good place to go. Otherwise most legitimate sports have national associations that will list accredited clubs or trainers. You might have to look at the state level if you're in the USA,...

Re: Macyn's Golden Gloves Gym(or,Intresting ways to Characterize fighting styles!)

How about a ranged martial art style. There are several archery related practices that rely on certain techniques to be effective. Defendu would be fun (to the point the commando knife issued to troops is named after the guys who invented Defendu), you know the one that Christopher Lee used to know ...

Re: M&M 3E - New Product Ideas

I line with the three, maybe four threads, I had at one point about M&M gribblies something about deities I the comic book sense. Like build up a good solid fun character inspired by different deific backgrounds as though they were M&M Characters. I went from straight PL8 to around PL20 with a wide ...

Superman is a humane alien.
Luthor is an inhumane human.
I like that description, yours as well Ken. That's basically what I was trying to say, perhaps with the wrong words.
